You are by far the best fishing teacher on TH-cam! One of these days I will have to take a lesson when I come down from Kansas City to Springfield to see family!
Absolutely an incredible educational video Randy. You don't know how inspiring your knowledge is to fishermen who are new to fishing, or weekend warriors who only fish a couple times a month if and when they can find the time. As for me, who has retired from working life, and has more free time to hit the lake for fun, the knowledge you just shared is so valuable, that no one can really put a price on it. I, and I'm sure your subscribers will agree, am truly honored and humbled that you took this time to educate your followers with your in-depth knowledge and professional experience on the subject of "JIg Fishing". Kudo's to you Randy for your kind educational generosity.
You are a treasure trove of information, holy smokes. Relaxing, no nonsense, binge worthy channel. Glad I found it, thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Im in my 20s and grew up mainly trout fishing. It wasnt until about 4 or 5 years ago that i started getting into bass fishing. This past year I decided i was going to fish a jig and im not going to fish anything else until i get this. Ive caught more bass and bigger bass this year than i ever have. I still feel like i could do way better and going into next year i actually have an idea of what im doing. Im very excited about the coming year. I just found this channel and im very appreciative of your videos theyre amazing. I hate the tech aspect of modern bass fishing. Ive been working my tail off on learning to read water and basically how to find fish on my own. Theres a big learning curve but i will not quit until ive got it. Im determined and committed. Thank you for your videos and sharing your expertise. Its a god send.
Randy I thank you for sharing your knowledge with all of us , I know not many angles will share their secrets with people and for you too do that in this video is absolutely awesome man , I had the privilege to meet you once at Chickamuga lake , you ask if you could put your boat in and my son and I gave you ride to your boat and you were so appreciative and humble so thanks for all you do for the sport and helping us weekend anglers.
Excellent information in your videos. I have to say I listen to you exclusively. Play your videos several times. Plan to keep you informed on my fishing success this year. Keep up the good work
I don't remember the last time I got as excited as I did when I saw the thumbnail for this video today. Didn't finish watching it yet, but a preemptive "thank you" to you Randy.
Randy this is awesome! I’m not even done watching it all the way and I’m already decided I’m headed to Grand Sunday with 2 rods only. Jig and a top water. Everything else staying at the house.
Touché on skirt trimming . I cut the skirt about 1/2" past the hook bend , then hold the skirt and make 2 trim cuts at 45⁰ . Try meat tenderize on your pork also. It softens the pork up for even more lifelike action , plus ads salt . Loved your tutorial , Randy !!!! Thanks for sharing the info !!!
Man I felt like a kid again wanting to get the tools and build my own jigs!! This is an incredible video and I have all of the colors of your old school jig (different weights too) can't wait to try this out!! Thanks for a great seminar!!
Thanks Randy. You have made me a much better angler with all of your instructional videos. Please please please do not let the idiots leaving negative comments hurt you. The vast majority of your subscribers no doubt enjoy your videos and appreciate your efforte to make us better anglers... THANKS AGAIN and keep up the good work!!!
It’s amazing to listen to Randy talk about setting the hook when flipping, versus any number of young kids who having their own -shows- TH-cam channel (which is to say they have a camera and an internet connection). It’s not their ability to catch fish…it’s their lack of ability to try and “teach”. *That’s why the best teachers are WELL into adulthood, with decades of experience, and excellent communication skills. But, more importantly, have a genuine passion for helping people. Randy exemplifies all of those attributes. It’s such a joy to listen to him speak.* Btw Randy, have you tried putting that blue dye in a small spray bottle?
Thank you! I've never fished a jig before, but now I feel confident with enough information to develop this technique to the point that with practice I will become proficient at jig fishing! Again, thank you!
Wow...just WOW...Thanks soooo much for this!!! 🙂..I'm a jig fishing NOVICE, even at my old age...Never could figure out how to fish it, or sense the bite...This was so helpful!!!!
Good tips!! Guys try dye markers instead of the dye liquid to accent your plastic jig trailers. You can be much more precise , and less mess. I have found over the years a little color variation goes a long way. The dye-markers work great to maximize color changes to your plastic chunks etc……they also store well in the boat. Rob
Once I started fishing w live rubber skirts..I haven't went back..your jig and the big ole mop jig are such good jigs...thank u for all the information always get excited when I get notifications for your vids man...
I’ve never caught a fish on a jig. Ever! I’m gonna make it a point to fish a jig every time I go out until I catch one. Thanks for the great info Randy!
I noticed that some times you thread the thicker part of the chunk all the way up to the skirt band and other times you just ran the hook through the center of the body so it has side to side action. What do you consider as decision makers for the two ways to hook the chunks? BTW: Love the tutorial videos. I appreciate the time you take to do them and I learn a lot from them.
Gold! Thanks for sharing. Yes, those are some weird color combos. Here in SoCal are craws are the Louisiana red variety but can be found in green juvenile stages.
Amazing seminar, Thank you. I hope your Baitworks revenue soars as you deserve it. I placed a big order! Consider it a tip for a job well done. Keep them coming Randy.
Randy, you call it an overview, I call it a MASTERCLASS. Never had much luck with the. I'm going out the next couple days ( it's going to be nice here in PGH) . I'm sure you have more up your sleeve, but thank you. I'm going to try them out of my kayak.
Really appreciate you taking the time and effort to help out other anglers with your videos I’ve made my own jigs for years and never really done much jig fishing but after watching ur videos I’ve started trying to learn the technique so I thank you all you do
I did the braid to leader thing for a year or so.. i jumped on that tactical bassin band wagon. It was nice for how much cash it saved me from having to respool flouro all the time but the cost savings did not offset the amount of key fish i lost in tournaments. I found out i actually lost more fish not do to a leader knot failure but do to lack of stretch in my line.
I am going to try some jig fishing. I have had very little success so far on my river. on the Sacramento delta. this is a great start thanks soooo much
Thanks Randy - pure GOLD!!! Everyone please click on view products and click a few to look at. Takes less than 2 minutes but helps keep these golden tips coming.
At min 48, yes, hopping a jig will allow it to mimic an active crayfish AND reduce the chance of snagging on rocks. The chunk trailers are great for suspended or bottom oriented bass that are feeding on that slow fall; neutral feeding or cold conditions.
Great video Randy. Very informative for anglers of every skill level. Maybe the best video you have had yet and you have had some really great videos. Keep up the awesome work!
Thanks for the time an effort for putting this together and presenting this it will help me tremendously. I'll have to watch it several times to take it all in but in the end it will help. Again thanks.
Jig, fishing is something I’m planning on doing a lot of next year I use it but almost never I’m gonna make a point to do this and see what happens you’re definitely my Jig guy and I am excited to try your jigs with the real rubber pretty cool I just ordered some I’m excited keep it up 👍
Randy, thank you so much buddy wow amazing info for jig fishing. Thank you. Do you mind if I throw it on my spinning rod, I stink at baitcaster only got one lol lol
As always brother good information. Just started fishing with a jig. I fish from the bank because I don't have a boat now.an you have help thanks brother.
Mr.Rrandy I live in North East Arkansas and and I'm about 40 years old now but I love to bass fish and tournament bass fish, and I love the information that you and Johnny put out! I've sent messages in the past that have gone unanswered but I understand, I'm simply asking if there is any way you can increase the volume for your videos. I'm a combat veteran and I have trouble hearing but I love the content and the information you guys teach is unparalleled. Thank you for doing what you do, please keep up the great work! I would really like to be able to hear you though LOL!! 😆✌️🙏. #batesvillebassmasterclub
@@scottvaughn9565 thank you! Maybe I will try that! That sounds like a good idea LOL! I listen to their podcasts and catch up on fish the moment while I'm on my way to tournaments, more often than not I find myself holding my phone's speaker at the bottom of my Samsung s20 ultra to my ear just to be able to hear it. Even when I Bluetooth it to my vehicle or use an aux cable, the static is ridiculous when I turn it up to be able to hear it. Absolutely awesome content, and I don't want to miss it LOL! 😜✌️
Thanks for the information. Always appreciate the information Randy. I will say that you didn’t go over when to rig a chunk trailer up the shank or poked through like a pork. I was really hoping you would cover that. Thanks
The only fish I've caught on jig was my pb 6lber. I just don't fish it enough. Really want to start fishing it more. Great info and knowledge. Love your videos.
It's interesting your sucess with the blue chunks. Growing up on the rivers in SE Oklahoma, back in the 50's & 60's, my Dad would not have a boat with a blue bottom. He & other fishermen claimed that the bass could easily see blue and that the blue bottom could actually spook shallow bass. Guess the old timers knew what they were talking about!
Hey randy that was the best jig video I have ever seen key key information. Thanks bud randy I've learned so much about jig fishing since I've been watching you when I lived in new York and that was two seasons ago . Hey randy Randall Tharp said the Ozarks has the best jig bite in the country. Thanks alot for all these great secrets. Randy I have a question for you. Should I pick a 7'10 inch flipping stick with a moderate - fast taper. It sounded like that's what you were saying something with a softer tip. See if you can answer that for me. God bless you and your family.
You are by far the best fishing teacher on TH-cam! One of these days I will have to take a lesson when I come down from Kansas City to Springfield to see family!
Thank you! A lifetime of jig fishing experience shared in 1 hour. Jigs are my favorite way to fish.
Could you made more seminar vídeos like this? It's fantastic! Thank you Randy!

Great show!
I love flippen jigs. Do you change the head design or hook angle of the jig with matt type of covers compared to rock/wood?
I even practice using a cup in my back yard it is very good practice just try doing it pitching a jig into a cup a coffee cup will do.
nice,,,
