Interesting theory, definitely synergizes well with how rigid patriarchies come to exist in the real world. If you look at human reproduction from a strictly biological standpoint, then orienting society around tracing lineage through the father isn't actually very practical at all. In a world without paternity testing, tracing your lineage through your mom is far more intuitive. After all, any child a woman births is certainly her own child, but the paternity of that child is always going to be questionable to anyone besides mom -- And sometimes even to mom herself, if she had more than one paramour around the time she got pregnant. If you want to trace lineage through paternity, then you basically need to have someone monitoring that woman's every movement from the time she's born who can attest to her 'purity', who can then facilitate her marriage to a man -- Only then can her husband have any sort of confidence that her children are his own children. Doing this is so resource-intensive that you basically have to structure your entire society around the maintenance of the patriarchal family structure. So if your theory is correct, then it certainly explains what happened to the Holy Nation to make them the way they are. Children starting to be born with 'inhuman' features fostering an obsession with racial purity leading to human men heavily restricting the autonomy of human women. And since Enforcers (according to Skeleton dialogue) used to look more human, it makes me wonder if the 'proto-Shek' genes were sometimes skipping generations. Maybe humans didn't even realize they had Enforcer genes in them and women who were 'doing everything right' according to HN Law would have no idea why they were birthing these weird proto-Shek babies, while the men would accuse and punished them for assumed adultery, which fostered a deep distrust of even the most virtuous women, creating a negative feedback loop of ever-tightening reproductive restrictions. That could also explain why even the 'purest', most obedient, Okran-fearing HN women are still considered to be fundamentally Narkonian in nature -- Even in the 'best' case scenario, women may have still sometimes been giving birth these weird bony-looking children until the Shek and Human populations were fully separated. Just my two cents!

In the Bible, the chief deity Yahweh/Elohim (Usually just translated into English as 'God' and/or 'The Lord') is an all-powerful creator god, the King of all Kings, supreme ruler of humanity -- You know the type. Well, he's very explicitly understood to be a father figure to mankind, and more specifically the people of the Nation of Israel -- The Israelites. The sequel actually even takes the whole 'Father God' thing a step further by giving Yahweh a mortal son named Yeshua (Josh to his friends). Or 'Jesus', if you're Greek. Anyways, three of the most important figures in The Hebrew Bible are Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, who are referred to collectively as the Three Patriarchs, both due to their role as the heads of their families (AKA literal Patriarchs), but also because they're the spiritual 'fathers' that birthed the modern-day Abrahamic religions of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. Abraham was Isaac's father, Isaac was Jacob's father. There are entire chapters written by Temple Priests (A role that was inherited through one's father, a tradition that is believed to have started with the sons of Moses' brother, Aaron) that were dedicated to outlining the specific laws that were being followed in the Kingdom of Israel/Judea prior to the destruction of the Second Temple in Jerusalem around 70 CE that led to the exile of Jews from the Levant and is the reason for the modern-day Jewish Diaspora. Slight spoiler warning, but their society was very explicitly dad-centric. Powered by Dads with the Power. Patriarchal, one could say, because it was organized around placing fathers at the heads of their household ('Patriarchs'), their firstborn sons as the primary inheritors of said Patriarch's wealth and power, and their wives and daughters as being more or less the property of the Patriarch. This plays into Yahweh being understood as being both a Father and King to the Israelites -- I won't bore you with quoting boring old laws from scripture, though. Instead I'll just quote a passage from Exodus that I think does a nice job of illustrating the interplay of the Father/King/God relationship: 13 And Moses said to God, "When I go to the children of Israel, and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me', and they ask me, 'What is his name?' What shall I say to them?" 14 And God said to Moses, "I Am That I Am." And he said, "Thus you will say to the children of Israel, 'I Am' has sent me to you." 15 And God said to Moses, "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, the Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations." Anyways, I hope I did a decent job of explaining how there was most definitely at least one example of a society that considered fatherhood to be an intrinsic part of rulership. The more current state of Kenshi has a lot of corruption within the Holy Nation's priesthood and such. From what I remember, there was a more radical faction who came to control everything with the current phoenix. This is also something other characters and books talk about, the time before the heightened oppression. Which would go on to form the Flotsam.
My most enjoyable dynamic backstory was starting a peaceful farm in Okran's pride doing a liquor business as a female not knowing that was illegal, only to be oppressed for not having male supervision, enslaved and sent to rebirth, escape and then start a life as a bandit and setlling in the free cities as a bounty hunter. Makes sense that they would suppress women for security when the Shek were the Skeleton's police force that oppressed the cult. Doesn't justify it, but Sharia's or mormon oppression of women is also not justified. Not many games dare touch this subject.

This could get a little controversial, but know this is not me making any judgement calls, but merely stating my ideas on why the Holy Nation would oppress women, and it is interesting if you zoom out a bit and don't try to take it personally. But the Holy Nation is clearly based on Abrahamic faiths in our world, and if you look deep into those stories, you see women are often seducing men to do evil. It is often a woman that has a rebellious spirit, acts immodestly, gets people to worship other gods, and other sins. If you then take those notions and ramp them up for a game set on a fictional moon, and attribute some of those story elements and ideas onto a religion in a desolate harsh world. It's not a big stretch to create a religion that goes even farther and blames women for all their evils. One of the things I love about Kenshi it they touch on ideas like this without saying how the player should view it. If you are more aligned with the Abrahamic faiths, you are going to see those parallels and think, "I can see where they are coming from here, even if it is too far" Yet if you have nothing to do with any those faiths you are likely to ignore the Holy Nation and attack them every time. The game does not care which stance you take, and does not seem to be making any judgment calls, of what you should find as good or not. They do that kind of thing with the UC and Shek as well. The UC is trading focused empire that was once rather prosperous but now it just goes to an extreme as people take power, and enslave others to hold power. The Shek are a once honorable society that takes it to such an extreme they have almost destroyed themselves, just as the Holy Nation took a probably sound religious society and corrupted it as they too took it to an extreme. There is a lot of things players may like in all these factions, if they favor the ideologies behind them, yet they are rather flawed. And again, the game does not seem to care if you find some factions better or worse than the others, or if you love one or hate one more than the rest. That all adds to the freedom the game offers us.

Basically the only info i have found about the planetary system is that Kenshi is a tidally locked moon (like our moon is in relation to earth) to some unknown planet. I'm thinking that the moon has to be huge (about earth sized) or be very dense considering there seems to be roughly earthlike gravity, which would mean that the planet must be much bigger still. To be fair it could be two tidally locked planets also, allowing them to be of similar size which would make the gravity easier to explain since then both planets could be of earthlike mass, but most people seem to refer to Kenshi as a moon, so i suppose there's a source on that somewhere. We also have the fact there seems to be another moon between, seeing as we see what looks like a planet and its moon in the sky in the game. Anyway i could probably ramble on a bit about this, but it would be an interesting topic to see you cover in one format or another!
Also for what we know in the lore apparently with the current Fenix the Holy Nation became more oppressive on their women and that gave birth to the Ninjas(I don’t remember their full name) so with the death of the current Fenix(from natural causes) probably the oppression on women will become more moderate.
I think it's more likely that the experimentation and genetic modification was voluntary, and that the bit about succumbing to Narko's temptations refers to this. The empire would have offered these women privileged existences in exchange for their cooperation in producing new troops for the Empire, and the Holy Nation reviles them for choosing the temptations of idleness.

TLDR: Eat Meat, Make more inbred Hivers, to eat more meat.
I feel infiltration may be a bit of a bit too strong of a word for the enforcers possibly being in the cult it could very well be that the enforcers in it were humans that had a breakaway with the empire, found the cult and integrated into the society without knowing that generations later they may have their children become a new subspecies from baseline humanity (lets not forget what Catlon did to his own people for voicing discontent, what do you think he would've done to a police force that turns on him? A force whose culture may have been shaped by his rule to most certainly have a strong honor culture, but also possibly the Shek's distain for intellectual/scientific pursuits; which if true shows an obsession to keep them under HIS control through extreme means (which again is reflected in the Shek's culture of following warlords on pain of exile or death).)
Try to make it so narko is his wife and equal and focus more on everyone being a better person, focusing less on hating the “impure” and more on venerating the good humble honest person would fix a lot.
Is there even a grudge against women? They are free non-slave people. They aren't discriminated, and they can hold slaves of other races of their own. They are 100% the same as greenlander males. Being under the same protection by Holy Sentinels and alike.
The Holy Nation patrols have burned women who have walked the roads alone, without male guardians. Women don't receive free food from the Okranites, and aren't healed if they are wounded on the roads. Women are treated as lesser beings in HN and the characters know it. Curiously, Holy Servants participating in war and patrols are 100% men, but Escaped Servants are 60% women. The way of Mulan or widespread transgenderism?
I do think though that you also ultimately have to keep in mind as well the simple sexual dimorphism of humans which means men are much better suited for combat. Then if you create a setting in which combat and violence is universal and omnipresent, you will then expect human societies to be patriarchal as a result of successful societies depending on how they handle and adapt to the hostile environment they are currently in. Obviously it would vary extremely per society (Just like how it did in the real world historically), but you would expect all human societies in the setting to be patriarchal to some degree.
In a violent world where basic necessities are a luxury, a woman wandering alone in the wild and surviving well is pretty suspicious for her male counterparts who have to get dismembered to be seen in the city with a loaf of bread
Narko is described as a Demoness yes. However this could explain how that personification became that of a woman in the first place and as it evolved over time

The option is there but its shunned, a bit like a communist would see someone borrowing money to buy property
Becouse they knew how fucked up Tinder was in first Empire
Waiting for Kenshi 2 be like: 💀
Hi. Can you please tell me how to research Better Training Dummies? I have a level 2 Research Table but I don't see the next level for the dummies there, would appreciate the help!
@DOKERcom as far as I know, the only requirements for Better Training Dummies is Tech Level 2, 6 Books, and having previously researched Simple Training Dummies.
Good video, thanks... now when is Kenshi 2 coming out? Man, I miss playing that game.
Great video brother! Never really gave it great thought, just kind of hive minded when I did HN playthroughs that we hate women. Haha. Great video though!
I don’t know if you can find something for this but I want to know if you could find out why the fogmen operate so much differently from other hives in the game
I think he has a vid on this
Lol he has answered this question it feels like hundreds of times. Hero believes and I happen to agree that their Queen died yet they continued to use her cybernetic body to create more Hivers essentially creating genetic defects who do nothing but gather more genetic resources by devouring anything they come across to continue a twisted cycle of creating more and more genetically defective hivers. TLDR: Eat Meat, Make more inbred Hivers, to eat more meat.
Have u met women? Understandable
Will you do kenahi lore for the starwars mod?
Not confusing, just the way it is.
Hero, in your opinion, how you would reform the holy nation but still beliving in Okran?
Try to make it so narko is his wife and equal and focus more on everyone being a better person, focusing less on hating the “impure” and more on venerating the good humble honest person would fix a lot.
Cool
Hero made a grammatical error in the title!!! Hahaha!
You are correct. I had a smooth brain moment when titling the video apparently lol. Thank you, I fixed it.
@@HeroInHisHead your passion for making these videos is unmatched and extremely impressive. Thank you for what you do!
They will arrest you if you don't have a male Green lander/ scorchlader in your party
Theyre just chill like that
I do think though that you also ultimately have to keep in mind as well the simple sexual dimorphism of humans which means men are much better suited for combat.
I thought Narco was a woman?
Narko is described as a Demoness yes. However this could explain how that personification became that of a woman in the first place and as it evolved over time
Because it's the natural state of things, just like in real life. It's not really 'oppression', it's just nature.
This is so much more nuanced than what real life religions use as justification for the subjugation of women
Maybe the founder of the religion found documents describing a certain movement that contributed to the downfall of the very world. :v
Say it with me now... BASED.
Simplified answer: common sense
because they know giving them rights leads to nothing good.
