inspire734 in reference to your idea that women have curves all over... many women have small chests, no hips, and if they work out enough, their backs will be flatter than the typical curved back of a woman. Personally, when I’m a standard weight for my size, I do not have curves all over. So please don’t take your weird conspiracy theory as fact, because you’re most likely not thinking this up yourself, you’re just following along with something that for some reason made sense in your mind at the time. I love a good conspiracy theory, but you have to be able to discern what could potentially be true and what is complete BS.
Me too! Though I'm not exactly a dancer by any stretch of imagination. I think if I could get my leg up that high ,..somebody would be injured.,or a shoe would go flying off. I was shocked to learn they are paid peanuts for the tough job they do. Somebody needs to buck up!
if one goes down and they were linked they would all go down but this way them not being linked doesn’t bring them all down and the one goes down and gets back up
Me too. I took amateur dancing and we did the odd lineup, but always had our arms touching the others' backs, even when we high kicked. And we were not out of sync because of it.
We were taught that we were responsible for holding our own body up straight, which these girls, I've noticed, don't always do. I've seen a few bend their torsos just a tad during high kicks.
The video gets it slightly wrong... the reason for the policy is center of mass. It's a liability to touch because shifting your weight onto another person is dangerous. It can mess with the synchronicity but that is only a side effect of the added effort it takes to support your weight and another dancer (or 2). When everyone is responsible for their own weight, it makes things safer and more efficient.
One of our dancers from our studio attended the Summer intensive and she tried out and made the team and has been a RCR for the last three years. Her name is Nadia and it’s easy to pick her out because she has beautiful red hair. With all that she does, she comes home to Ohio and gives her to the studio with the little ones and helps the older girls with their solos. She is truly amazing! Although I did not see her in this video. We love you Nadia!!!!

Dance moms is a reality tv show. This is a production business. I don’t know what’s wrong about it. Dance moms “works” more hours over drama (not say they don’t work) but a lot of what they do is for show. These are working adults.

Seriously you sound so dumb, of course the dance mom girls put in more hours they go to a new comp every week and are learning new numbers every week. You are practically comparing apples to oranges.
A former rockette was a tap teacher at my studio and she choreographed dances with kick lines in them. You can't actually put your hands on the backs of the people next to you because the strength of the arm can push you forward and make the line all wonky. Another little fun fact, if one person trips and falls in the kick line, the whole line goes down like dominoes

The woman that runs my studio was a Rockette for 3 years. She now runs my studio with her husband. My little sister had her for her tap class. Keep in mind, my sister was 5 in this class. This woman told the girls, “For the recital, you will be doing a kickline with eye kicks.” This didn’t last long. Opening night of the recital, one girl slipped during the kickline. She was in the middle. All the girls face planted onto the stage. What did we learn here? *never put five year olds in a kickline*

And with children that young, I think the main thing should be that they're having fun, gain confidence and maybe discover what you're good at. Not to mention that five year olds have totally different proportions and level of fine motorics from adults, so surely it's obvious you can't take part of a grown ups dance routine for them?

I am an America citizen and I never knew what a rocket was until today when I clicked on this video! Amazing! 😊
Rockette not rocket I would hope by now you knew what a rocket is 🚀
You must be young to never have heard of the Rockettes before.
YaYa. Im 26 and I just heard about it. Maybe its a east coast thing? I live on the west coast and no one talks about them.
@@titanicgirl774
Im 32, live on the East Coast and never have hers of them either.
They stay in shape by "runing".
When I lived in NYC, I made a point of seekng the Rockettes, and Macy's on Christmas Eve. Seeing the Rockettes was great, very impressive. and fun. Macy's on Christmas eve, at least that year, was terrifying...
I have loved the Rockettes since I was eight. They have always been awe inspiring.
Amazing routines and dances. If I ever get to seem them in person I will certainly appreciate their efforts even more!!!
Just watched the show in Rochette tonight , it was truly amazing ! Highly recommend !!!
Woooow
When they do the eye high kicks they're not holding eachother. Their hands are hovering just over their costumes. That's unreal right there 👀
I would love to see them live!
went to the show a few years ago.....loved it! they are perfect
1:17 It’s nice to have woman in a position of leadership, like Karen Keeler
Joe we have millions of women in "positions of leadership' worldwide. Its not a new phenomenon!😉

Very Fake News CNN speaking about sexism does not make it sexist.
I saw the Rockettes in December 2010 with my family, it was awesome
Shorties and sexy strong let us start our own dance company!
Go for it YackBackatcha
I love to dance either to workout or to have fun. So I'm definitely not a future Rockette, but I do love watching them on the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, they rock!
I would love to watch them!
And they also have to step in for injuries/sick colleagues. So every "swing" dancer has to know 9 extra positions.
Such pretty and inspiring discipline
I was excited to see the Rockettes many years ago in Branson Mo. But also kinda sad that they went back to NY, it means I’ll probably not get a chance to see them again ❤
I’ve seen the rocketts. It is amazing
If in NYC and the Rockettes are in the house cancel something and go see them. It is an amazing show. I never knew they never locked arms when they do the line dance. You can't tell in person.
I have seen them before and it was amazing but I never knew they had to go through this
What a great entertainment group, with awesome precision. Thanks
I was (once) a dancer and also on dance team all through high school, and actually had several instructors/choreographers etc. ask me if I had ever considered trying out for the Rockettes. I admit, I had great high kicks! (And I’m 5’ 8” lol.)
4:54 WOW! I truly thought they could lean on one another for support but I get that that could topple into a mess lol. They are so impressive! 💓
I tap danced for 8 years and I was set on being a Rockette when I graduated high school...then I learned I'm 2 inches too short :(
Aw man that’s sad 🥺
now that really sucks :(
I’m sorry ☹️
I'm sorry! There are so many other shows though that are just as prestigious
I think that's terrible about the height since it's truly something someone can't help etc. They could easily figure out a way to visually fix it
Kudos to these women. The performances are breathtaking
most surprising is i can't believe i did this for 21 years!!
You were on the team for 21 years!!!? Any insights you want to share?
@@jilliannyc2124 on what specifically? going to look for you on FB as i share several memories on there, i am Lara Alysa on there
You are amazing. I bet it’s hard work but the results are amazing. Something to be proud of ladies! It’s my dream to come and see a show. ❤
Just watching this gives me body ache.. But I applaud them for their hardworking and efficient skills. I so want to join but ughhh I can't my body would ache from the over practice and muscles will ache.
I’m currently doing master classes with a former rockette and it is amazing!!
How do they smile so much without it hurting 😧
Wow, that is truly one crazy thing for the rockettes
I actually met a Rockette. But I didn’t know what she had been through when I did meet her!
Brilliant, well done guys.
It's amazing to think about the time and effort that goes into these shows. These dancers must be incredibly disciplined!
Thanks for sharing your experience 👌👌👌and very useful comments 🙏
My grandma was a rockette
Amazing!
That is truly something to be VERY proud of! A Tradition in New York and I bet she had MANY stories to tell!
Wow shes strong
Wow,!!!!! 1,000 times. They are truly amazing!!!!! Amazing. I never knew!!!!!!
I never thought i would see another dance group as strict as the NFL cheerleaders until i saw this! I also never heard of the Rockettes before
I saw this show this year (2019) and it was awesome. Very up to date fun show I look forward to next year.
I saw A Radio Christmas Spectacular in Boston about twenty years ago and I still marvel at it. The Rockettes are truly incredible ❤️
I've always wanted to be a Rockette ever since I was 3 & I went to see them so I begged my mom to put me in dance class but i can't be one due d the high requirement ( I'm 5'1) so that kinda sucked when i found out.
Welcome to my world. I'm 4ft 10'. I don't fit height requirement for many dance parts.
When I’m older I might be able to do it but right now I’m like 5’0 but I’m y’all for my age
I’m too tall to be a rockette so I feel ya
@@riana4691 haha looks like even tall ppl have trouble
I feel your pain I’m barely 5’3
👑THE👑ROYALTY👑OF👑ALL👑DANCE👑COMPANIES👑
"Intense rehearsals required" noooo I never would have guessed.
bitter
I absolutely love there dance there so graceful and look stunning
Going to see them Wednesday I’m so excited!!
Awesome! Come back and let us know how it was!
how was the show?
I love how they dance but That's a LOT LOT LOT LOT LOT LOT OF WORK! You go Rockettes!!
*No shorter than 5 foot 6 inches.. You've gotta be tall to be a rockette*
Me, standing at 5'9":
Me 5'10 LOL
me standing at 5’4”:
I think this would have been my little sister’s dream. She LOVED singing and dancing.
