As a director myself, I completely concur that the first introduction and first few minutes of an audition, we know if u can make it or not. And I’m saying that with much less experience, training, and talent than this director. I’ve never met a director who hasn’t felt the same way. That’s why it is ESSENTIAL to practice EVERY second of an audition-from entrance to exit. I tell my actors once u leave ur house be in “audition mode.” Make it second nature.
I love how she says: ‘the day is here, embrace it!’ - also I love watching another creative world which isn’t mine but which is definitely as high pressure if not more!
Well one thing to remember about the show is that the choreographers themselves are a big part of it. Yes the Rockettes are the main part of the Christmas Spectacular but, all of those iconic dance numbers…..wouldn’t be possible without those choreographers. So it’s also important to showcase the choreographers behind the dances to give them credit for creating those dances, and making them even more amazing.
I always loved seeing the Christmas show at Radio City, with the Rockettes, when I lived in NYC. It was a Christmas tradition. How exciting it would be, although hard work, to be part of that tradition as a Rockette dancer.
The hopefuls are so beautiful, elegant and talented. The straight legs, big bright smiles, energy. I've toured Radio City and the building itself intimidates me. They walk the halls and lobby like they're always there
I just thought that exactly. As one who was always too short for everything..... I even had to be the 'oldest' mouse in the Nutcracker... We can call ourselves the "Tiny Dancers" hahaha!
My sons and I were fortunate enough to have visited New York City from Christmas 2019 to January 2020 just before Covid struck. Seeing the Rockettes was a dream come true and one since I was a little. Entering Radio City Music 🎼 Hall was absolutely beautiful and the Rockettes did not disappoint! 🎄🎶
Seing any documentary on dance schools, dance companies and auditions honestly gives me ptsd...this is such a ruthless world, hard on the body and on the mind
The girl at the 0:16 mark has impeccable facial expressions. Love seeing everyone doing their best, I would love to be a Rockette, but I worry too much about what the dance is that I forget about my face! (At least that was my feedback from my show choir audition in high school.) I would love to be a dancer, but I just don’t have the talent 😂
I'd like this more if there was actually some dancing in it. I don't expect a whole routine or anything, but I don't think there's more than 2 seconds at a time of dancing in this video.
I always wanted to be a rockette since I saw them in Annie but when I got surgery on my leg and nerve damage I never got the chance but my dream is to see ur in person I'm the biggest fan I still try to preform combos to keep in shape it hurts but I keep trying ❤❤
We recently went to see the Rockettes. There were flat faces and girls counting aloud with their mouths. Just not what you expect at this level of dancing. Glad to see them being more inclusive of race and disability; those girls shined so bright. Also loved the singers and smaller acts, but the 3D glasses were weird.
The second they do it will start looking sloppy. You can't have women at 1m45 move like women at 1m90. There has to be a cut somewhere in between that gives the unity of movement they are portraying.
@@huskytail maybe. But I still find it unfair and rude. People aren’t short or tall because they want to. We can’t choose or work on the height we wanna be. I feel like it’s still a discrimination.
Yes, but there's a second ensemble of dancers in the show that aren't Rockettes, and they have men in that troupe. Here's a video of their audition th-cam.com/video/HxmgyG4gw6E/w-d-xo.html
No it wouldn’t. Long lean legs are a must for kick line, and if these ladies aren’t athletic they will never have the stamina for multiple shows per day. Get real.
I think it’s multi layered but transparent. I saw them quite a few times in 2021 at sporting events. I scratched my head a little when I first saw it. Probably not THE most effective, but I guess better than nothing?
This video is evidence of artistic theft. BEFORE performers are allowed to audition at RCMH, they are required to sign away - without any compensation - even if not hired - all usage rights to the video of the audition, globally and perpetuity. It's interesting that another comment, shortly ahead of this one, asked "when will the next episode come out?" Could be anytime soon. RCHM has acquired, free of cost, the rights to exploit the work and performance at these auditions by all talented artists, most of whom have spent tens of thousands of dollars a years of perfecting their craft - free of charge. How do I know this with such certainty? Unlike most of the job applicants auditioning at RCMH, I have 70 years of experience in business. I actually read and understand legal documents, including those handed out at auditions. When I was invited to audition for the role of Santa at their holiday show, I was given a release that was quite specific that I was giving them, without any compensation, the right to use a video of my audition in anyway they wished. It specified they edit and change my audition and use the materials from job application for commercial purpose, even if I was not hired. I told them exactly what I thought of their greedy exploitive crap and walked out. I have a satisfying career as a Santa and as an actor on stage, film, videos and commercials. I'm not giving up anything (especially my pride) to work for people who would do that to other performers. I am not all surprised to see them exploiting these vulnerable artists. Yes, indeed, When will the next episode be published - and on what television network - complete with commercials that earn RCMH cost hundreds of thousand of dollars per showing? Shame on you greedy, exploitive Radio City Music Hall.
Geez. There is nothing wrong with what these people are doing. As you said, the contract gives them access to this video, so if the dancers didn’t want this to happen, they didn’t have to sign it.
I suspect you do not understand why this is outrageous exploitation. RCMH is forcing JOB APPLICANTS to make audition videos that RCMH can repackage and sell without paying the job applicant. Worst of all, they are requiring that the job applicants sign away all rights to have any say in how the video is edited, repackaged and sold. The humiliating auditions for America's Got Talent are an excellent example of what RCMH is now legally allowed to do with the videos of their job applicants.
The whole video is about people talking and warming up, - no actual dancing, so it's not interesting. From the shown moments the level of the participants is around school musical (which is not true?)
Oh please. You have to have a certain body type first and foremost. They look for the size of women. They have to. Then if you can dance. But first body type. Height weight leg length etcétera

artist supporting artists!
I love how positive the people were who were picking the ladies. No screaming, just excitement!
should have more of the rockette hopefuls dancing & interviewing, and show less of the choreographers
I thought it was a great balance
Actually now that I think about it, I think I agree with you. Needed slightly more hopeful interviews

@@tiamarrow6366 yea... but this is about auditions. So it should have more focus on those...auditioning
I think any more distraction and it would cause an unfair disadvantage
Love watching auditions and the process. Good luck ladies!!!

Way to go, Montana! 🎉 It was so fun seeing you in this video, and such an honor to have made it to the next round!
Shorter chicks need to start a mini-Rockettes branch 🎄💃
I know we short girls deserve it too!
The tall girls now can see all the teasing and awkwardness in school has made them the envy of we 5’3 runts.
I just thought that exactly. As one who was always too short for everything..... I even had to be the 'oldest' mouse in the Nutcracker...
We can call ourselves the "Tiny Dancers" hahaha!
Fun fact, when I was 11 I had a master class from a rockette and I was in that exact room from day 2
When does the next episode come out? This would make a GREAT tv series. Omg please give us more!! Xoxox

The Rockettes are one of my FAVORITE parts of the Macy's Parade. Good luck, girls! ❤💚👯♀
Oh my, there were a few girls that jumped out right on sight. I think it was Natalie the name for example, very talented, well done.

Makes me think of the musical Chorus Line, and I actually half-expected a girl to break out singing “God, I hope I get it. I hope I get it...”
Ha yes. Real life chorus line.
Really great auditions, very impressive performance congratulations to all wonderful dancers 🙏
So much beauty and talent in one place!
Is that lady wearing a mesh, see-through mask? What does she think she will accomplish with that?

Makes me wanna come back to New York during winter to see the show
This is like Dallas Cowgirl cheerleader auditions ….it’s intense everyone wants to make it …and it’s new girls often competing against a veteran
Phenomenal show. I’ve seen it twice . Good luck ladies
The woman running the auditions is super nice!
Yay Montana!!! Found you right away in the video. Bravo!!! 👏👏👏

The woman in the blue leotard right before the teaser for the next episode I hope makes it in.
I went to high school with her. Her name is Mia and she is a spectacular dancer!

wow these ladies and the selection team are phenomenal!
So the girls who didn’t get cut are in the actual show?
no, theyve just got through to the second audition
When will episode 2 be up?
💙 " ....5,6,7,8...." totally awesome !! 🍀
So classy!
The Sullivan twins!!!
Congrats!
MG Duc Phuc , i like your cover version. Love it !
The teachers are very polite for not openly admitting that they prob cut the less good looking dancers
I hope someday you will get rid of the height requirement to be a rockette
Really? Wow! I don't like that either.. what is the height requirement?
@@oscarflores8578 5'5 to 5'10

I wonder if they will hire a "plus size" girly? I can high kick and tap, jazz,,,etc....hmm. :)
More diversity is needed.
Why is the lady wearing a net as a mask? Lol couldve just not worn one at all
If I did a kick like that I’d probably die
