And another Incredible song. So much hatred and division there days. We can only hope that love and kindness will win in the end.

    Thank you Sweet Troubadour
Thank you for your tender thoughts within the refrains of this choice song
Our hearts are filled to overspilling
With what is happening today ....
    Thank you ... Thank you

Thank you Dear Sheri. Words do have meaning and your words show a relentless understanding of the song. "The Old Troubadour".is grateful for your blessing. Hopefully the song will be heard and understood by many. Action is a word that comes to mind. A family of humanity listening to "that quiet voice within" is a force not to be denied. JRW

Thanks Mark, that the whole family watched together touched this old troubadour's heart.

Another well crafted and important musical and visual message. The horrors of mass shootings in the US and the war in Ukraine have lowered us down into the dark depths of despair. But there is hope in finding a way out by looking inward to our shared values and finding ways to work together toward solutions, as humans always have done.

This is a comment worthy of note. Both the realization of tragedy and the glimmer of hope means the message of the song came through. We need a blizzard of thoughts like your words of hope to carry us on like the song.

@@johnwinntheoldtroubadour a blizzard, yes, been writing 12 songlyrics in 11 weeks, it´s like a whirlwind & it ain´t over yet, as rosanne cash wrote. the world needs songwriters, singers, artists, rebels, revolutionary hearts & souls. if we give up, everything is lost, so we won´t. still breathing, still fighting.

Getting humanity to change is like trying to turn a rusty crank but we cannot give up trying.

Well........ John it seems youve covered all the current major darkness with this one. My opinion is that good will find a way to cover all this evil somehow someway. Its our only chance to survive. Stay well.

Thanks Mr. K. A minor key guitar riff and a conversation with myself were the insights that propelled this reminder that there is an overarching umbrella of sadness in the firmament that need to be attended to. JRW

only light can conquer darkness, darkness can not. old saying, still true. there are plenty of good hearted people out there, everywhere you go, there is hope, lots of hope. darkness is temporary, hope is forever. as I read some place long ago: I am a realist cause I do believe in miracles. amen to that.

Here is a comment I received from Darrell Babidge via email on the video of "There is a Sadness in the Land" Darrell, is the chair of the voice faculty of the world-renowned Julliard School of Music Vocal Arts department. Even if you've seen the video before, take a look at the comment he's made and his endorsement of this song.

When went to school, we had to "take over" to avoid a mythical A-bomb attack. This one is real. It's also a deeper issue than gun control; it's a cultural phenomenon, which you're suggesting.

Yes Terri, the myth was that a school desk would protect us from the atomic devastation of a Hiroshima. Viz a viz this, the body count from from street shootings, school massacre's is an actual reality. Touching. Touching the terror that is our world today. Touching the idiocy that exalts guns over children. Touching the bizarre excuses for individuals owning weapons of war. Touching the mental illness of needing to own these guns, touching the need to kill people & children. And with a supreme court ignoring the first half of the second amendment (a well regulated militia), I see no end to it.
