Yes, the piano, very interesting arrangement. Choreography is really one of the hallmarks of BabyMetal. Singing, dancing, music, lighting, and stage are all carefully selected and planned. It is to let the audience's eyes, ears, body and mind enjoy different metals.🦊
Great reaction. I've said this on some other reactions, but I feel this album, concept aside, is highlighting Su-metal's vocals more than anything and possibly more than has been the case in the previous albums - they each had maybe three or four songs that really did that, this one so far every song has done it.
I can’t agree more! every single song from the new album clearly highlighted Su’s voice more than anything. For my own personal taste, they deliberately pushed the instruments too far in the back sometimes to make her voice even more prevalent. The only thing I really like and they always do perfectly is when they drop all the instruments and Su sings a line without any instrumentation. Those always get me ❤🤘🔥🦊
How many people were holding their breath, as Su's note went higher and higher, and waiting for the beat to drop?... I didn't start breathing again until the instruments kicked back in. And Moa's vocals in this is awesome 😅🤘🦊🤘
The duality of her moods in singing performance is what I love... She can grow from serene queen, then a switch is flicked on, and you see the look in her eyes change, and you're hearing the aggressive badass metal queen... you can see it in IDZ from Sonisphere vid, you can find it in Akatsuki in Budokan, No Rain No Rainbow from Legend S XX. 🤘🦊🤘
Nice reaction! The choreography is one of the best they’ve done in a while ❤ Despite having heard snippets of the song it surprised me in its entirety but as always with Babymetal, expect the unexpected lol. The song reminds me a bit of “ Rondo of Nightmare” probably because of the piano 😅 and Su’s vocals are just mesmerising ❤🤘🔥🦊
Another great reaction, Jon! I like how you point out aspects of the song that you hear...which in turn gives us, as listeners an opportunity to "hear" the song in a different way. Get some sleep!
Welcome back to BabyMetal's metalverse 🦊🤘🌐 Before going on with my comment, please try to turn on subtitles, especially to help foreign fans they want to try to understand everything you said, thanks. Another lovely ballad with beautiful SuMetal vocals. Love the J-pop sound from 2000 and years after. Here's some info about this song: "One of the discovered 10 parallel worlds is "LIGHT AND DARKNESS" and this 4th pre-release digital single “Light and Darkness” centers around this theme. Because light exists, darkness also exists. And because darkness is present, there is also a world that shines. During the night when light and darkness intersect, what we seek after poisoned with darkness awaits a world filled with strong love. As the door opens, is it hope or despair that awaits us? The song expresses the duality in everything and the way things are perceived and interpreted differ depending on each person’s point of view." This was a world premiere at Makuhari Messe 2023 setlist, along with "THE LEGEND", Momoko Okazaki is the third backup dancer performing here and possibly the new official member. MoaMetal once again adding the backing vocals and all of them dancing once again with the full trio formation. Here's the lyrics translated with some help. Thanks for sharing this and being one of the first reacting to this new single. See you next time 🦊🤘❤️ Lyrics : MK-METAL / TAKEMETAL Music : TAKEMETAL Arrangement : tatsuoMETAL 【Lyrics】 Even the reality buried in the snow of sadness Even these hands that have been dyed red by mistakes Take me to oblivion To an ideal world filled with love Open that door Come on Ah, Ah Being poisoned, falling into a dream A night where light and darkness seek and play together Drowning in a sea of rhythm Even my memories are being destroyed This love is strong and strong I'm sure it won't stop This love is strong and strong Never let go Let me out. Let me out. let's jump out hit by the rain of joy Let me go. Let me go. right now Let's dance the night away Take me to oblivion Take off the mask filled with lies Right now Being poisoned, falling into a dream A night where light and darkness seek and play together Drowning in a sea of rhythm Even my memories are being destroyed This love is strong and strong I'm sure it won't stop This love is strong and strong Never let go In the night when sorrow overflows Keep this love warm Open the door now Come on Ah, Ah Even my dreams are poisoned A night where hope and despair seek and play together Ring out forever Even my heart is filled This love is strong and strong I'm sure it won't stop This love is strong and strong Never let go
Nice reaction. This song has a lot of little intricate music parts going on in it. Very cool. Makes the idea of the lyrics being about the love between light and darkness. This kind of greater love reminds me of their song Amore. Great stuff. The one thing I want more of is Moa. her part is low in the mix. And let's face it we all want more Moa. The video to me looks like a combination of the concert they did and a full-on rehearsal. Which allows them to get cleaner extra shots they might not be able to get during the show. And now I want a Kamiband member playing piano. It would be cool. One thing about the performance. Moa didn't move into the middle of the formation. Like she did during the tour of the 3rd album. For me that's a clear sign that they are going to add an official member in April like they hinted at. Which also means the new member will be singing with Moa. Like in their classic era when Yui and Moa sang from the sides of Su. This way they won't have to change the choreography when they add the new member. I still hope it's Momoko. she earned that spot. And look how in synch she is with them in just this performance alone. If Yui isn't returning in April. It's time to give Momoko a mic. She can sing. And she was in Sakura Gakuin like Su Yui and Moa all were. Babymetal love their connections. Oh one more thing. They used two of those stages during the concerts they did at the end of January. Very cool. I know you're thinking he didn't mention Su's performance. You did that for me. Lol, Su is amazing and I've many times have pointed out her incredible talent and skills. Which she shows off here as well. Her ability to sing over whatever musical style their playing is an amazing skill all it's own. Just think about how many music genres Su has seamlessly sang over now. Mind boggling. More the reason why her name keeps coming up in top vocalist conversations. Enjoy the ride through the foxhole and into the Babymetal galaxy of music and now the metalverses.
@JonReacts I think you need to check out "Perfume" now - the electro-pop group from the same agency (Amuse) and choreographer (Mikiko Mizuno) as BABYMETAL. Light and Darkness is so Perfume influenced song to me. I'm in no way an expert on Perfume subject, but from what I can tell the best songs (MVs) you can analyse to get a feel of Perfume to Babymetal vibe is "Flash" (from 2016, the same time as BM's Karate, with very similar choreo) and "Flow" (a newish one).
Excellent reaction, Jon. Thanks! To be completely honest, "Light and Darkness" is far away from my personal musical preferences. With that said I need to point out that Su's vocals are amazing despite being the studio recording (production, you know). And I know I need to wait for the actual live performance to make a final decision about his song. I already noticed some cool aspects I enjoy (apart of Su's magnificent vocals, of course) like that unexpected note during the chorus and the double bass pattern right after the chorus. Not to mention the build-up on the pre-chorus, which reminds me of Sakura Gakuin's "Heart no Hoshi" opening (don't worry, you will get there sooner or later). BUT your reaction helped me to identify and understand many other really interesting aspects of the song. And, most important: it finally hit me emotionally. So, again, thank you.
I'm very curious.....have you been interested in knowing their history? If so then there a very well done video by cryptic misery about their history however it goes up to 2020 or 2021 I'm not sure. But its your choice so you absolutely do not have to.
Thanks for this, it does help to appreciate the song even more. There‘s not much Metal in this one, but that’s fine. The chorus is very strong, as in all new songs so far. To be honest, while I think that the drop and rebuild at the end works well, after the fourth song with this ending I wouldn‘t mind hearing something else again (guitar solo?).
Lyrically the song talks about light and Darkness. For many Zombies are plenty dark. In the comments Jake Muller left the English translation of the song. I hope that helps. Also, not actually sure they're doing a zombie dance move. For my eye it looks more like pop hip hop kind of step. Which also works because the music at the start is very Disco. Until in classic Babymetal style they add in the metal. Once again the mix of light and Darkness. This carries over from the end of Disco days. As Disco and Metal were not mentioned in the same breath. Disco light Metal darkness. that's how it was. But thanks to Babymetal we can listen to both at the same time.
@@stevechevy3382 I'm still going for zombies. This song falls straight after monochrome in both the album and the two concerts. After the apocalyptic carnage wrought in Monochrome, it wouldn't be surprising if Su was somehow surrounded by zombies. Also, if you look at Momo's and Moa's faces when they are doing those early moves, I reckon they are zombie faces hahaha.
I don't even know what to say about this one yet. Su sounds so beautiful yet again. And I am always extra happy when Moa gets some lines. Started out fast with the girls doing that jerking popping movement. Which is funny to me because a reactor who focuses on choreography would say a few times that she would do some pop-lock movements here or here because she has street dance background. I'm like the girls will never do that. They are far from the street dance background even though Mikiko the choreographer does. Anyway.... here we are, and here they just did. They of course did it well and not too much. 🤘🦊🤘
To be honest, I‘m a little disappointed with Moa‘s lines, not only in this song, but also in earlier ones like „Da Da Dance“. It‘s always more spoken words than singing. And maybe it‘s just me, but I don’t recognize her voice at all.

And the way the last chorus, you get the entrance, but then you're left waiting for the beat is such delicious tension.

I am so captivated that I can't move.😍

【Lyrics】
Even the reality buried in the snow of sadness
Even these hands that have been dyed red by mistakes
Take me to oblivion
To an ideal world filled with love
Open that door
Come on Ah, Ah
Being poisoned, falling into a dream
A night where light and darkness seek and play together
Drowning in a sea of rhythm
Even my memories are being destroyed
This love is strong and strong
I'm sure it won't stop
This love is strong and strong
Never let go
Let me out. Let me out.
let's jump out
hit by the rain of joy
Let me go. Let me go.
right now
Let's dance the night away
Take me to oblivion
Take off the mask filled with lies
Right now
Being poisoned, falling into a dream
A night where light and darkness seek and play together
Drowning in a sea of rhythm
Even my memories are being destroyed
This love is strong and strong
I'm sure it won't stop
This love is strong and strong
Never let go
In the night when sorrow overflows
Keep this love warm
Open the door now
Come on Ah, Ah
Even my dreams are poisoned
A night where hope and despair seek and play together
Ring out forever
Even my heart is filled
This love is strong and strong
I'm sure it won't stop
This love is strong and strong
Never let go
