Same thing. Midbosses were scarier than ordinary ones because you don't know how to fight them and the standard boss life bar tells you what progress you've made, not to mention how twitchy shadow and deaths' are, nothing like slow-ass phantom and grenade-launcher-consuming-bird.
The runs really well on PlayStation 2. I recently found that there's a parry technique against Nelo Angelo where you can parry his attacks by attacking when he does.
Then gta 3,jak and daxter, ffx and onimusha warlords 2001 was awesome year for ps2 and to me 2000 was still decent with dark cloud, tekken tag, armored core 2, dynasty warriors and more

the original devil may cry is my favorite, is the most unique of them all, the combat is so simple that you must be smart about when and where to attack. The most recently titles are cool but they feel more about your enemies beeing punchbags

Wowee, although I know the HD trilogy removed a lot of the effects, It still amazes me how polished and great the game is on PS2. Capcom was so lazy, they didn't bother port this properly, making first timers think it's more dated than it actually is. That intense heat on phantom, lighting, depth of field... Ahead of its time.

Charging FX, portal fx, painting ripple fx, mirror world fx, sound design, water fx, Dantes ability fx, menus, lava fx, demon eye trail fx, shadow enemies fx, going through doors fx and so much more. Capcom always polish there games to a classic legacy but the HD version looks sharp but stripped of alot of artistry put in.
minor theory as to why phantom comes back in dmc2: Mundas understands just how much phantom annoys Dante so he either resurrected or made a copy of phantom specifically in an attempt to annoy Dante further. and although we don't see Mundas again after this takes place (DMC3 canonically is the first in the timeline, not release date) i imagine he still has some hold over some of the monsters the characters encounter in future games and in the timeline. also minor tidbit, but the force edge is seen on dante's back at the final cutscene but that's not possible knowing that the force edge is part of "Devil Sword Sparda"

If not you’ll die instantly and begin from the start. Later, he comes back lookingly grotesque with worms and other rotten remains like Necrosis, says jackpot then dies. Ps: DAMN YOU IPAD AUTO CORRECT
In Hideki Kamiya's DMC plot, when Eva was murdered by Mundus's henchman, Vergil also got killed too. Since the change of production crew(Itsuno Hideaki & Matt Walker), some of character were recreated including Vergil. Maybe that's the big reason.

Fantastic game that I wish I played when it was new, I beat it for the 1st time just earlier this year and it's now one of my favorite Ps2 games. I was busy with the mighty GC back in those days.

@@Shadowsergif you're playing on Hard or DMD in the interlude between missions 7 & 8 and then backtrack to the fountain area where you had the first Shadow fight (Death Scissor on the aforementioned Hard and DMD), Phantom will spawn there

You might alredy know most of them for example you can instantly kill Phantom 2 if he dose his jump and land on the glass in the middle 4 times he dies instantly! I have more information to share if you want it P.s Also Ware you not getting eaten by Nightmare as you wanted it to be no hit as well as no Damage being garbed by him doesn't hurt you at all so it doesn't invalidate a no damage criteria. I- the shadow thing was a boss? For some reason I always thought he was just a average mob lol. That explains why he never showed up around the map... that always used to confuse me.
as a kid it took me 70ish normal completions until i had enough yellow orbs for dante must die.. i guess thats the reason dmc3 seemed to be a piece of cake..

Even after he defeated Mundus, they only hugged, and he only really forgave her because she redeemed herself after sacrificing herself before the first fight with Mundus, and survived afterwards. If you've ever played 4 or watched the anime, you'd see shes never anything more than a mutual business partner, entirely regardless of what the epilogue of this game implies.
I know it’s the first and all but it’s one of the best dmc games out of the series really enjoyed this one. And loved that Everytime you beat the game it get harder and more rewarding. But not gona lie Dante must die mode is riDONCULOUS. I was like nah I don’t have the patience for this sh**. LOL

Damn...even after replaying this game so many times I can only beat the first Phantom, Griffon and Nelo Angelo fights with no damage. Well done!
Did you know you can kill Phantom 2 in 4 hit's his jump attack if done over the class panel will eventually brake it killing him instantly.

DEADPOOL9AND dmc 1 is the hardest game in the series, even on normal difficulty it only takes 4 enemy slashes for you to go down.
