    This comment is a year later so maybe you know by now but, on the watch face with the rings... at the top right is the ‘running man’ icon for workout as a shortcut to log your exercise. Hope this helps you or others reading the comments! 👍🏼

      Good call! And if you don't see it, most faces on the apple watch are editable and you can change the icons.

      Alex Traxler try using your Apple Watch with the MyFitnessPal app. You can set a weight goal. I’d use that with the Apple Watch for a week or 2, log your food intake to MyFitnessPal and you will get an idea of how many calories are good for you in the day to stay in the calorie zone for weight loss.

      When I first got my watch I would just do my normal doings. I believe it’s set at 490 but as the weeks go by the watch will give you a weekly summary. If you keep passing the set goal it will recommend you go higher, it auto suggest a number. Again if you pass those goals enough it will then suggest a higher goal. Hope that helps.

    This has really helped me a lot understand the rings with my new apple watch I started using other day. I'm 5"2 so have set mine to 640. Can you explain the overall calories burnt is different though as I noticed I hit the goal of 640 but then check app and see my whole day calories further down can be like 2,326 so I'm not understanding this.

    • @felixol
      @felixol 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Beth Banderton The total calories is a sum of active calories (the ones burned by doing exercise or movement) and the resting calories (calories your body burn by itself during the day)

    Why isnt anybody discussing resting vs active calories. After all, the point its to see how many calories you are consuming vs burning.

    • @FizznessShizzness
      @FizznessShizzness  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the comment. I've done calorie counting in the past, and just found it wasn't a good fit for me. That said, there are plenty of videos on TH-cam that talk about calorie intake for those that want to take that route. I went from 278 pounds down to 213 in just over a year, and didn't bother with calories once. Just felt like it wasn't for me.

    Which exercise option do you use when you get on the Treadmill? .... Other>> ? or Indoor Running?

    • @FizznessShizzness
      @FizznessShizzness  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      usually i try to do interval training on the treadmill...so ill have it high speed for 1 min, then drop to walk for 30 seconds or a minute. if i want to do a longer session, then ill do a indoor walk at the highest incline possible, usually around a 2.3 pace.

    I just got a Apple Watch SE yesterday , tried it out for the first time today. I was using a Fitbit Versa 2 . Also tried out the exercise app, they had every workout but Weights. Is there a way to add that category? And I notice there’s no Fat Burn indicator ?

    • @queenshe8464
      @queenshe8464 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi @Matt
      I am not sure if you were able to answer your own questions, but there is a way to add. Once you click on the workout icon, just scroll down until you see “add workout.” Select that, and then scroll until you see “traditional strength training,” and select that. There is also an app called HeartWatch, that tracks fat burning. I’ve had it for so long & it’s connected to the Workout app & the fitness app. It shows the duration of my workout intensity and when I burned the most fat. When I got that app it was free. I think you have to pay for it now.

    How often do I have to do this to my watch? I just Recalibrated it two days ago and it seems like it’s not keeping up with my Activity app again. how long (timing)I’m working out.

    • @julieazhadi8368
      @julieazhadi8368 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can be frustrating, the exercise app will only count the minutes of activity that meet your targeted exercise goal... it will not give you credit for a saunter when you are counting it as exercise... it feels rude, but will get you the results you want in the end. Experiment with different settings that might show your results more accurately... I am usually dissatisfied with how it counts my "inside walk" minutes on the treadmill- even though i know my heart rate is at target. Best wishes!

  • @xtntek8410
    @xtntek8410 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    For walking and running - With Apple Watch 2 and up, you need to use the "Other" setting in exercise if you do not have your iPhone with you. If you have your iPhone with you, you can choose the specific programs. The reasoning, when you have the iPhone with you, it uses GPS to measure your exercise. Without iPhone when the "other" setting is chosen, it uses the time passed as the baseline metric.
    If you chose "Walking" and your iPhone is not with you, your exercise ring will not work correctly.

    Why some bars are light green yellowish and some are green in exercise graph?

    • @FizznessShizzness
      @FizznessShizzness  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Do you mean in the circle? In the circle, the (outside) red is your total amount of calories lost from activities. The "middle" yellow/green is your minutes of exercise for the day. The (inside) blue ring is the number of hours in the day that you stood up for a couple minutes. Should be red/green/blue...I think the camera changed the colors a little on the video. Hope this helps.

    • @rfk2298
      @rfk2298 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Up/Down No, the three movement graphs underneath the main rings. They show, for example, when you performed exercise minutes throughout the day. Sometimes some of those bars are yellow when they are usually green.

    I have desk job and the most I’ve walked around today was to the bathroom or get water. My Apple Watch says I lost 750 calories. Do you think this is accurate?

    • @saddestchord7622
      @saddestchord7622 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your body uses calories all the time. Heart is pumping, brain is thinking, etc. The way I use that number is if it says 2500 at the end of the day, that means I can eat roughly that number of calories to maintain weight. Eat more, get fat. Eat less, get slimmer.
