- Welcome back my friends. Here we pay our good friend Harman Smith a visit and talk about his response video on ReviewTechUSA's video where he goes over his reasons why he will be moving on to the Steam Deck.

Is this man child really wearing a Mario hat? I remember when I was 8 years old and played Nintendo
I’m quite sad because I really wanted a Nintendo switch but Nintendo makes it really hard to justify getting it when you have to pay for the Internet and there 4+ years old hardware.
Not to mention their anti-consumer practices, but with the steam deck at least I’m going to get 500 games form the get go.
And free online, and better performance
I just bought one last week for the sole purpose of modding it to dump any games I'm interested in to legally emulate them with better performance and resolutions. Otherwise I never would have gotten my hands on it cause the hardware sucks
Don't get a switch right now, lots of rumors about a Switch 2 announcement in the next year or so. The steam deck is likely going to pressure nintendo to squeeze more performance into it (one can only hope).
With a decent PC, you would not want to go back to any console.
The Steam Deck CAN AND WILL get all these Switch games through a little thing called EMULATION which CAN be 100% legal depending on how you obtain the games.

The illegal part of it is all in the distribution of the ROMs. Emulation itself is completely 100% legal, as proven by two different cases of Nintendo and Sony losing their respective cases against it
Biggest appeal for me with the steam deck is my backlog on steam no paid online multiplayer and cheaper games I also feel like Nintendo wouldn't want to deal with someone like harmen Smith also they both offer something similar and different more options in the handheld market is always a good thing.

Harman wanna know why the Switch gets very few big budget games, it's very simple, it's hardware is simply TOO WEAK to handle it I mean it uses a mobile phone chip and is as powerful as a PS3/Xbox 360 whereas the Steam Deck is as powerful as a base PS4/Xbox One.
Bro I'm sorry to say but I think the switch is more in the middle of the PS4 and Xbox One a little behind the Wii U is even a little more powerful than the PS3 and Xbox 360 and don't you go dissing my Wii U cuz Wii U is the best video game console ever made because want to know why Homebrew backwards compatibility and his number one thing a ace of piracy

Look at it this way. My Switch can barely emulate PSP games. It has to run at 1x reso and the framerste it's mostly fine. Occasionally it drops frames or even crashes. But on the Steam Deck, it'll do 2x and it's smooth as butter.
I’m gonna make this prediction right now. Less than a decade later, the Switch will no longer be sold in stores. In fact, by the time the 2030s roll around, the Switch will be a completely forgotten piece of hardware and nobody will acknowledge it anymore because the Steam Deck is so much more powerful. Only time will tell if I’m right. If I’m not right, I’ll happily acknowledge that.
Both SD 1 and NS 1 will both be considered legacy consoles before 2026.

If I was NINTENDO. I would either become third party this point. Or start making hardware that can actually run the game well.
I'd rather every big publisher just start putting everything on PC, either on Steam or through new storefronts. I'd also like to see them put their back catalogues on PC because I'm tired of old Pokémon games never coming back.
At least start selling them on pc.

Harman Smith said that the difficulty settings affect performance, and I’m wondering why he thinks that. Maybe it’s because there are more projectiles? In Doom Eternal, enemies shoot more projectiles on higher difficulty settings, so maybe he was at least partially correct about that, but I wouldn’t know. I’ve never experienced anything like that.
More character model can fuck up the FPS in some game.
I like the Switch, but I prefer to play almost any multi-platform game on PS5 over the Switch For the lacking performance. Nintendo's games like Splatoon 2, Arms, Mario Odyssey, and Mario Kart run flawlessly because Nintendo knows exactly how to work within their own hardware limitations. But multi-platform titles like Fortnite, Cars Driven to Win, and Doom Eternal aren't that fun to play when kneecapped by weaker hardware.
I know for a fact that Harman has endless arguments with non existent people to himself in his alone time.
Nintendo refusing to let the Xbox and PlayStation players play games like TOTK and SSBU is a crime against video games in my eyes. Smash should DEFINITELY be a multi-platform game imo, it’s too good to be kept on the Switch. But Nintendo is hellbent on keeping their monopoly over the gaming space so they decide to be assholes and restrict these games to an awful platform with terrible controllers. I like my Switch but it’s not on the same level as my Xbox.

14:56 I didn't play the new DOOM, but if it works like classic DOOM I think he means that the game spawned more enemies than usual and the larger amount of enemies in the level caused the game to lag.
I know its late as hell but its funny because in doom 2016 higher difficulty actually does lower performance because there are more enemies on screen and the switch struggles even more than it already does lmao

Not necessarily true, game difficulty can affect performance. I believe in one of the doom games, i think eternal, more enemies are added on screen on higher difficulties meaning the gane can be harder to run. I think it was doom eternal, saw a digital foundry video where they mentioned that
Just wanna add a devils advocate answer here, Doom 2016 easily runs at 60fps on Xbox series X/S no drops, and Xbox One ran 60 fps also but may have dipped i'm not sure but the point i'm making here is Nintendo Switch's Doom 2016 runs at a solid 30fps, doesn't dip either which is impressive but still what Harman says is just incorrect and he also fails to mention which Xbox he was running the game on because if it was a Series console then he is flat out lying i recently played both Doom games on my Series S (which is the inferior of the two X/S consoles) and the games never dipped below 60 once on Nightmare Difficulty, this is the problem with Harman he doesn't think for a second the words that comes out of his mouth.

Yeah dying light 2 will probably kill the switch (yes i know this video is 1 year old but still) because how intensive it is regardless from his ray tracing capabilities turned on that would cause Nintendo games to crash instantaneously if it was implemented on the Nintendo switch for games lol

I feel like Nintendo was trying to make n take as much money from their customers hell Nintendo games are $60-80+ each, mostly the main games people want and we would pay for it and $50-70 switch controllers and that's why I kinda switched to steam cause ik steam always make sales on games cheapening them to be affordable and steam deck is flexible on gaming I can play any games from different consoles. Plus I'm not getting caught up collecting $60 switch games where you have a shelf full packed of games making a wall of red. Your have to pack those games once you move. I love the switch but Nintendo knew they were stealing from their customers because Nintendo fans would pay top dollar for expensive expensive games and accessories that are also super expensive with expensive controllers, yeah steam deck is expensive but you know you won't be throwing tons of money to it after you pay for the steam deck. I got the cheapest steam deck and a 1tb card and pretty much buy games when it's on sale when games are like .90 cents half life games $4 Bayonetta or fallout games $6 dead by daylight game and many more games that are cheap I'm not throwing a lot of money on good games I could care less about graphics if I can play my favorite games and pay for them cheap, I will. Nintendo making you pay subscriptions that were expensive but we caught on to that game so they did their best to fix that problem making it worth the money. But yeah you need a subscription for Nintendo to play online multiplayer games n use the internet when I can sign in to my steam deck and turn on my wifi and set it up and Im fine I won't have to worry bout it.
