The Instructor was demonstrating that for the c4 to explode it need to be contained/confined. If you listen to what is being said in the video, you can hear the Instructor explain it and then the "pupil" acknowledge and repeat the information.

@Iain Bailey the reason the USMC isn't able to make improvised shaped charges is because all of the young Marines keep eating all of the C4. Just kidding. Nothing but love from the Army.😜

Or rather, it is cheaper as you say, but a genuine liner material for any widely used shaped charge is a simple copper cone so it ain't that expensive.
I'm guessing that they took this opportunity to teach the engineers how to improvise and make their own shaped charges from commonly avalible materials, such as a bottle, were they ever to find themselves in need of a shaped charge and not being able to obtain proper munitions.
Wow, even cutting the zip tie holding together the concertina wire without gloves is just asking for trouble.

Not so much Canadian or Quebec French as army French. Even francophone units like 5e Régiment de génie use a lot of English terms. French translations of technical terms tend to be a lot more complicated than the English equivalent even to francophones.
In the states we were told to collect the m-81. They make great key ring bling. You know your Demo. Thats great to see when it comes to our counterparts from the north.
Ours are Called M60 igniters, I am doing this exact demolitions course as part of my combat engineer trade

That must be what the states use then? I’ve only ever worked with the hi vis yellow one in my training. Pretty sure that’s even what they use in theatre too.
@@jaredpeabody894 I got out of the US military 10 years ago and we always had OD green detcord. Might just be a training or Canadian thing. No worries either way.
Our Det cords are yellow however our safety fuses for non electronic detonation are green.

I must know what are those ignition caps they're using, they pull the pin and you can see a reaction. And how do they work
Those are M60 igniters, when you pull it it creates a spark and lights the fuse. They are fairly water resistant as well, haven’t seen any fail unless they weren’t assembled correctly.
Mike Wolff they’re m81s it’s mdi. They are connected to time fuse that time fuse has a high strength blasting cap on the end.
They work by a spring driven firing pin that when you pull it to a point it releases striking a primer then igniting either time fuse or shock tube that’s connected to a blasting cap that’s connected to detonation cord and that’s connected to the charges

... why did they bother unwrapping the C4?
Cause they are not properly trained. Only reason to remove the wrapping is for when you are making improvised demolition charges.

Угу. а те, кто поставил инженерные заграждения будут сидеть и смотреть как эти клоуны их взрывают.
Очень нужная взрывчатка при наступлении, или захвате позиций врага. Быстро устанавливается, при подрыве можно находится в непосредственной близости, без нанесения себе каких либо значимых ранений и быстро продолжить захват или наступление. А те кто установил эти загрождения услышат только подрыв, а противник уже захватывает их территорию
