Let's Blast! - Industrial Explosives During Blasting
ฝัง

- Are civil and military explosives the same? In other words, are we using the same explosives in mining and warfare? Well, yes and no. From the ninth century AD (though the historians are still uncertain about the exact date of its invention) to the mid-1800's, black powder was the only explosive available. A single type of explosives was therefore used as a propellant for guns and for blasting purpose in any military, mining and civil engineering application.
The Industrial Revolution carried new discoveries in explosives and initiation technologies. A specialization principle, therefore, operates between military and civil application of explosives thanks to new products economics, versatility, strength, precision or capability to be stored for long periods of time without significant deterioration. www.thebalance...
The following factors shall be considered to determine the blast area:
• Geology or material to be blasted,
• Blast pattern,
• Burden, depth, diameter, and angle of the holes,
• Blasting experience of the mine,
• Delay systems, powder factor, and pounds per delay,
• Type and amount of explosive material, and
• Type and amount of stemming.

4:00am trying to catch some sleep, hopeful this will help
Who would sleep that time
3:36 am I need to go to sleep this most definitely helping
😐.....🥔
Yeah cause when people wanna sleep they look up “exploding mountains”
Ah yes, destruction soothes the mind to sleep. 😂
Been around blasting for geotech for about 20 years - i enjoyed this vid. No music, nice and clean. Man, you can really tell the professional production shots from the overblasted ones. Whew.
ไทยแลนด์ อันดับ Now
Cany you explain why the single charges are delayed and not explode at the same time?
Is it so other nations dont think its a nuclear test or is that a myth?
I am a blaster and some of the shots in here 😂 some people need to lose their licenses
0:11 is the coolest look at that shockwave
I think this wasn't a mining operation like the others, but rather looks like land slide protection.
Probably had to be done rather quickly, with limited time for planning, to save roads or buildings underneath.
That white hazy Shockwave is called overpressure, if you were standing in a place where that overpressure passed, you'd die
I bet that crow didnt think it was so cool..lol Im surprised he lived.
translation from Russian: And you saw how before the explosion the bird flew, after the explosion, the direction changed, probably cantuzhny
@@Aglai76 That white haze is a condensation cloud or a wilson cloud that appears when explosions happen in humid air. Still, it can be lethal standing there.
The blast at 4:13 is one of the nicest I have ever seen. No bad holes, nice tight pile.
True
2:04 the most satisfying ever
-And just after, 2:20, the less one XD
That was to be my comment. A thing of understated beauty.
I know right
3:12
Agreed
2:05 is possibly the cleanest shot I've ever seen.
Its amazing when the entire bench just collapses into the pit.
It’s amazing to me how these explosions make solid rock look like garden soil.
It is amazing to me how (it remember me) Humans can be dangerous.
well thats what soil is, pulverized rock.
@@jermsmason2082 umm no. Soil is organic matter broken down and mixed with inorganic matter. Not just pulverized rock.
2:11 best crew...most movement with the least amount of drama
2:04 is the most beautiful imo. so clean and precise.
Welll,,,
It is really a monster
Alot of these are my dads shots I believe, the one you are talking about is mine blasting they shoot up to 50,000 yards a day that's the big boys shooting benches like that for a pit of coal
Got Dust?
Replayed that back several times. Sweet as
That was a great shot. There was a lot of bad in this video but that one was damn near perfect. They lost stemming in one or two holes. Otherwise perfect
1:27 looked like some underground monster coming towards u
like the movie, Tremors :)
@@udumaeG exactly I was gonna say that haha
A big angry monster then😅
Lol so true!

02:03 this one is very satisfying.
0:16 that was the most anime/movie "bombardment scene" I've ever witnessed in real life.
Aggressive, straight lined, fast approaching yet somehow slow at the same time, and powerful.
The best I can compare it to is the blasts of billowing smoke from an old steam freight train barrelling towards you. It's not fast but it's fast enough that you can't get out of the way and there is _nothing_ that can stop the mass behind it.

I love watching the primer cord zip ahead of the explosions at 6000 meters per second!
That's shock tube, not primacord. Shock tube is considerably cheaper per foot than primacord and is less sensitive to static and RFI problems. Primacord still has its uses, but not generally as an initiator on a mining shot.
When we went to the shock tube my copper wire collecting sideline $ dried up, but I was still in business hauling all the quarry’s non-ferrous metal for twenty years $$ 180,000 !
Det cord is its own thing rarely used these days
2:07 the smoothest explosion
2:21 the cutest explosion
2:07 is how i feel rolling out of bed in the morning
2:21 is when the AC130 found a cute mud hut to bombard

I was thinking Caddyshack but same concept. Good call.
Trash Compactor no it’s big chungus
Lol
There is a few frames at 0:19 where you can see something green in color getting absolutely ejected from one of the explosion jets. I wish I knew the scale so I could calculate how fast it was moving because whatever it was is only visible for a couple of frames and then it's completely gone. It could be simply a jet of water given the color, but whatever it is, it's got some speed on it.
Damn good eye.. I wonder if that's fuel shot out of the hole or just a camera issue?
@@liamforde4137 A camera issue or compression artifact was my first thought as well, but I don't see any other artifacting in the clip, and you can follow it from the bottom of the frame to the top so it's not shutter related. Whatever it is, I think it's really there. I would be willing to be it is moving at supersonic speeds as well.
@@nickygee5611 You can literally see the same green effect below the explosion in the foreground, lol. It's a camera effect.
Yeah my eye caught that to thought I was seeing things or something but that definitely shot up but it could be something the camera did but since it really does look like something shot up then it must be something physical
Could be grass
Coming from a geology major, this isn't hurting anything. Well not anything living. Occasionally you may create some accidental instability but other than that this is normal. It actually helps rock hounds and geologists alike because it removes weathering from the rock and roadsides are considered public land.
Tell that to the bugs science boy
It’s pretty cool, if you look close, right before the blast you can see the charge going through the blasting caps just before the main explosion. That’s wild!
If you live near one of those sites it will kill you
2:04 is so graceful, apart from a couple of little puffs you would hardly know there was any explosives.
1:37 full pond to empty in a couple of seconds
No talking or music. Best compilation video I have seen
02:06 best blast
Perfect charge and placement. No wasted explosives.
.spo
Straight up art. I was going to post a comment about that blast but since you already did.... here I am.
I was going to say the same thing. You can tell the guys that have been doing it for a while. That was poetry in motion. No fly rock at all.
It looks like there's a river of dust
As a student worked at a quarry running a rock drill and placing explosives. It was a real rush setting off the charges. I still have my blasters handbook.
Didn’t expect this to be so satisfying to watch lol.
little to no fire is seen in real explorations unlike in Hollywood where theres tones of fire everywhere
It's not the size, it's the technical aspect of the balst that makes it interesting.
I'm having a blast watching this vid
That's what it looked like in our imaginations when my friend and I as kids played with firecrackers and Tonka trucks at our "quarry".
1:27 is like some underground monster is rushing towards you
Anime characters when they get hit into the ground: 1:27
No BS commentary or filler video; just good old explosions; good job!
I cannot tell you how much I feel like some creature is just going straight towards you
1:25
My favorite of the bunch.
That shock wave on the second vid. Super cool thnks for the upload
The people working in this industry must be having a blast!
Well, I guess that's more convenient than getting a bunch of slaves with pick axes and shovels.
At 4:14 that shot would be the best way explain what the blast did from mount st Helens back in the 80s just on a hole lot bigger scale....you see the body of water in the shot when they set it off the blast pushes every bit of that water up the other side an way up in the air...that what the mountain did when it went off except it was spirit lake that went way up the other side..there no video of the actual event but this video an this one shot is the best way to explain it 👍👍👍👍👍 great video 👍👍👍
Setting these things off looks like it must be a fun job! 1:28 looks like giant mole is burrowing beneath the surface at supersonic speed... :-)

And the sound is right on!!!
These works accelerate the rate of weathering thus causing landslides, mass movements.
That is one way of seeing it, the other is that all minerals needed by the people of the world, comes from the ground - blasted loose to process.. Stop mining, and there won’t be new phones, computers, TVs sound systems, cars, electrical lights, glass, cables, and so on.. We should certainly reduce the spoils of “the west”, but at several points a lot of these blasts are perfection of energy lines, roads and other stuff to rebuild and make our existence more efficient and with better solutions!
A blast may shake the ground, but if there were to be a slide, it would be because of salts being washed out of the ground since last ice age! Slides occur just as well without blasting! What do you mean? Stop all progress, and start to grow own food, make our own clothes, kill all our own food? One volcano probably spills more dust and toxic pollution in the atmosphere than all blasts in the world combined, so these works probably won’t rip the world apart!
“You’re as safe as a mountain, but know that I am dynamite”
Mountains are in no way "safe" in my home state (WV) thanks to mountaintop removal mining. Places I used to hunt are simply gone...disappeared...changed forever. From an aircraft, the southern part of WV looks like the surface of the moon for the most part.
Delightfullydemented65 you must be fun at parties. Jk that’s pretty crazy
I feel like its a volcano lol

The one at 2:20 was the best, not a lot of fly rock and dust, it folded over as planned. Worked at the old Kaiser Sand & Gravel pit in Clayton CA for twenty years. I have a few videos of their shots. Being in a residential area those shots were no more than forty holes making 40’ high benches.
2:04 good control, ground looks soft & still didnt eject

At least two cameras gave their all during this complliation! Very good scenes.
I remember of history that people working on a chain gang lined up that do it by picks and hammers. Bit to easy today, but watching this, it pretty impressive specially very deep drill holes.
What was that green streak going up the screen at .20 seconds

i was grabbing lunch at a convenience store in front of a quarry one day and wasn't thinking about blasting at the time just standing in line waiting for food when all of a sudden it felt like a school bus ran into the building and the whole thing shook, the lights were swaying and everything, i was completely confused then the cashier just looks at me, smiles, and says... "that was a good one" that's when i realized they just blasted the mountain side out probably 200 yards down the hill... it was the craziest feeling but i thought it was awesome at the same time and have been into this stuff ever since lol
I'm so terrified and amazed at the same time! It's beautiful in its destruction, somehow. And luckily, these ones here do not involve killing, but just mining. I also really like watching lightning strike videos. It's amazing what forces there are naturally, but also technically produced.
@Coco Leeboo Haha, yeah, that makes sense :p
