This is what Hotwheels need in 2025.
It’s kinda depressing how Hotwheels just doesn’t give that much attention to the mainlines as they used to back in the 2000s. I also agree that they should bring back some of the past stuff. New sub here!

Mainlines are the best series, especially for the collectors just starting out because it offers a lot of variety and the lowest price. After a few years and after you understand more about the hobby, you could switch to premium series and even RLC!

I Agree 1000% with all the points you said, they need to kill those stupid childish tampos (most of the art cars) , way too colorful wheels, and fantasy castings that has been absolute peg warmers released again2 and again with different colors.. like the boom car, and ice shredder.. gosh those things are terrible..
and please bring back the comold wheels at least in the silver series! and with fantasy castings as well, give some love to it.. like the ravager st, rodger dodger, purple passion, slide burn, or even some absolute classic bangers like World race cars, acceleracers, velocity X..
Hotwheels used to be a Giga Chad back in 2000s, they set the bar for the kids of what is cool!
while now they just become like people pleasers with no charm.. but good thing 2025 seems like a better year for hotwheels mainlines.. kinda feel like its revived in a way

Yes Bro!. Good Video! I was gonna post a video touching on things you mentioned. I really collect GREAT mainlines OR you can say the ones I find a good casting. But I think I truly went this route because of high demand in the premium area. There just easier to hunt for. I don't go out and be a maniac like some collectors. I don't ask employees is there any boxes in the back or resale. I just casually hunt and hope I wisely choose my destinations for supers and fresh pegs. I really enjoyed what you talked about and I wish all the best for future hunting.

Looks like you ,and I grew up around the same era. Though I am older than you I do recall ,and still showcase my White Heat, Bone Blazers and Wastelanders on my walls. Used to love those 4-5 car sets. The Flying Eagles and even Crazed Clowns. The series I fight for every year is HW Flames. It was around for years and let's face it the Hot Wheels logo is a flame. As far as today's series. I'm cool with most. I desire an adequate mix of Licensed and Original castings in the mainline to keep me intrigued, and while I agree that HW EV is overkill, Mattel could actually mix in a few of the Electric Originals in there too if they want to keep it at 10. Art cars have to stay and should always be 10, because the series features many casting comebacks. I'm ok with 5 JDMs as long as we get 10 Muscle Mania like we are in 2025. Love the return of X-Raycers for classic track cars and Rod Squad for classic coupes and "wastlander" looking castings. We are getting Mid Mill back after an eternity. Now I agree a bit on giving a break to Experimotors and Ride ons. Those castings can be mixed in with race Day or Track Stars, but I also fight dearly for Fast Foodies to keep rolling. I'm just disappointed I don't always see the castings I prefer like Buns of Steel. Exotics and factory Fresh should be 10, because those are the dose of Stock that look great with out going full on Matchbox, which can get boring with the same castings released time after time. Hot Wheels can and still do release New Models in a more clean deco when they want it it works wonders. My two favorite 2024 castings were actually Drift N Break and Hi Roller II. As I mentioned Race Day also needs to make a comeback once in a while. Those Kandy blue shades with the big Hot Wheels logo are nostalgia at its best. I also need a bit of Street Beasts to keep the other cars in line. or Fright cars. Those are castings I can proudly call fantasy.

I think they should have headlights and tail lights on every damn car. I ain’t worried about decorations, other than that let that be extra, but they should definitely have headlights and tail lights on every single non-fantasy.

I am OK with the variety in the latest Mainline lineups. What I'm not liking is, back 7-10 years ago all cars had a full metal body with a plastic base, or vice-versa. Now (2023-25), they are designing them to have less metal on the body and combining these with plastic inserts or bases that rise up into the body lines of the vehicle. One example is the Hirohata Merc. It is clever what they did and where they did it, but I would have really preferred a full metal body. That Nissan Maxima Station wagon is a disaster with all those holes in the engine bay and roof to eliminate metal. The Volvo wagon, the Nissan Patrol, same issue. They say it is "the Hot Wheels touch", I say, you are reducing the metal content. Do that with the foodie cars, not with the licensed cars. I know why they are doing this; to keep the price point at about a dollar, but this trend is really killing a lot of enthusiasm for the Mainline among collectors.

While we would like all that. we need to remember that Hot Wheels castings like anything work on a rotation system. I haven't figured it out yet, but they do release castings every so often. Sometimes I can even guess which are coming based on their absence. I've seen new castings get three years in a row release with one of those years being a Treasure Hunt or STH version. Some go to 5 packs and return after a couple years as Art cars. Some comeback every 5 years. last year we had quite a few castings that were mainline absent for 5-7 years. That's why we aren't getting any wish come trues any time soon. Finally let's talk Batman. I love Batman, but I too tire of the same Batmobiles. Why not other HW originals with DC characters or better yet Marvel characters like they do with the 5 packs. As for Anime. I might not be the biggest fan, but I do love video games, and we have tones of Zombie and shooting games to play. For Screen Time bring back castings we haven't seen in years. The Homer Cars. How about mainline versions of Christine or the Greasmobile. Just change up the castings a bit. Then and Now is cool, but get creative. It doesn't always have to be licensed castings. How about Fast Fish and Drift N' Break. I gotta really cool idea that I bet Mattel hasn't even thought about ,and it would bring back one of their best looking castings. Then: Metrorail Nash Metropolitan Now: HW Legends Nashhole winner now. or maybe get loony with Then Skull Crusher(Wrapped Mid Mill) now: Mid Mill (Unwrapped)😄

Get rid of the blank plastic bases- they're trash, they aren't desirable, everyone looks for those metal bases- put that back as standard for the mainlines, and I agree, make the cost $2 to do that, we will pay for it. Especially the "name brand" castings- porshe, mclaren, nissan skyline, lamborghini, and other castings that collectors search out, they need to be quality. If that means those have to be part of the $3-6 premium only, that sucks for kids just getting their feet into the hobby.

    • @blairpiper6821

Yes and no. Some collectors, including myself bye cases online. Bringing the price up would also mean a price hike on the cases and not all 72 cars in the case are worth more than a $1.00. Also more metal in the cases would surley hike that price up even more. Also not all the castings can be made in metal. Especially Hot Wheels originals with many curve aspects. Mattel kept it at $1.00 for almost a lifetime. They can do just fine with that and still give us better looking castings. Plus you forget the most important aspect. Hiking up mainline castings also means hiking up premiums. Now no one can afford anything.

  • @marcoantoniomarquezperez2652

Now for my one big negative and I'm sure other collectors have noticed this so feel free to chime in. Every year certain castings get recolors in the mainline. I don't mind that. What I hate is that more times than I care to admit the recolor is some ugly, uninspired, lazy looking combo that is very unattractive. Examples would be last years' Art cars Funny car. Loved it in black n white, but that off yellow recolor was eeke.🤢 2024 Loopster. The last mainline appearance was 2021 and I liked that white one, but that green one was off putting. Plus very similar to the 2021 green one. My last example was the 2023 Art cars anime Track Manga. Three colors and none were appealing. I think it would be great to see NTF style color and tampo styles on mainline cars. Just give us the regular wheels and change spectraflame colors to mataflake or metallic. . Kinda of like the i.d car series. Those designs were great. I can't think of any casting that looked bad in that series. maybe tone done a liittle on the wildness and give us something like those.

One thing you forgot to take in consideration when making this video : Hotwheels are CHILDREN’S TOY! Not for grown adults ranging between 20-60 . Of course some castings will look insane , have crazier colors , different color wheels and crazy liveries. It’s intentional, they need to attract children into buying them .

Grab a mainline, look at it. You’ll see “age 3+”. So colourful and tacky models is part of their strategy to call kids attentions. Adults collectors are 30% of their sales (including premium and RLC models).
Just keep that in mind. You grew up. Hot wheels mainline still made for 3+yo kids.

I like your idea on a lot of more playing cars not these crazy messy looking patterns. I can't stand food cars, I had to buy a five-pack to get three cars I like and they made me buy a taco car.
