- Steve Dangle shares his thoughts on one of the craziest things to ever happen in an NHL game. A fan taunted Steve Sullivan for taking a high-stick and then later in the game got struck in the face by an errant puck giving Sullivan a reason to taunt back.

As a Hawks fan, Sullivan was one of my favorite players, it's a shame injuries cut his career short.
You can actually hear the crowd groan a bit when the fan is mocking Sullivan, never noticed that before. So even his fellow fans were against him.
Crowd: Noooo....that's not right.

Sullivan might be my favorite player right now because of how this played out. This is wonderful.

Slightly embarrassed to share a similar thing happened to me back in 2012. I was at a Michigan hockey game in Ann Arbor and spent the night heckling this one opposing player (don't remember the player or the team, probably Miami). The next night against the same team, I'm sitting in the front row on the opposing team's side during warm ups when I get sliced across the face by an errant puck. Never found out who shot it but I have to believe it was vengeance (or at least karma).
You did learn a lesson though, yeah? Lol
On top of it all Sullivan just happened to be on the ice when the guy got the puck to his face. The odds are ridiculous.
Greater than Marchand missing the puck with literally no one else on the ice during a shootout, that the Bruins lost the game because of? Yes. But Marchand missing the puck is just more fun to relive. Side note, combine that with the crying face and you got the greatest hockey meme ever?!

Wasn't that the year of the Bourque Cup? I think Roy won the Conn Smythe that year. It's always worth remembering that even the great gave up soft goals now and then... and also karmically smack a fan in the face with a clearing attempt. I wonder if that guy even admits it was him.

The more beautiful part is the hockey gods did not even give that asshat the game for karma. Both men entered the second intermission with head injuries. Also, gotta love the reaction of literally everyone else in the building. Steve wasn't kidding when he said Roy enjoyed it...you can see him sort of laugh when he realized who he drilled in the head.
You should do Edmonton's blown lead in game five during the 2017 playoffs, and specifically the ALLOWED GOALIE INTERFERENCE on the tying goal!!!

Michel Laroque did technically win many Vezina trophies, however, this is back when the Vezina could be shared between tandems and he was the backup to Ken Dryden for most of it. He essentially won the Jennings trophy becuase that was the way they judged Vezinas back then.

Sullivan should've been drafted higher; it was probably his height. He scored 113 points in his 2nd year with the OHL yet was still drafted in round 9 (233rd). (correct me if my 'height' idea is wrong)

The hockey gods are often benevolent, but there are times where they choose spite. This is an example, as was my team, the Lightning, after crushing everybody in sight, got swept in the first round.
