      Let's be honest here mrazek covered the puck and instead of looking to see if any other bruins players are in the area of play he non-chalantly throws the puck back into play and the puck lands on coyle's stick and coyle puts the puck in the net mrazek basically just gave a freebie

    • @VoIcanoman
      @VoIcanoman 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@mikebarber12 Yeah, he non-chalantly threw the puck back into play with the added assistance of not one but TWO Bruins sticks pushing on it. And not to put too fine a point on it, but this is CLEARLY defined as interference with the goalkeeper in rule 69.1: "Goals should be disallowed if...(2) an attacking player initiates intentional or deliberate contact with a goalkeeper, inside or outside of his goal crease. Incidental contact with a goalkeeper will be permitted, and resulting goals allowed, when such contact is initiated outside of the goal crease, _provided the attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such contact_ * ....For purposes of this rule, “contact,” whether incidental or otherwise, shall mean any contact that is made between or among a goalkeeper and attacking player(s), whether by means of a stick or any part of the body."
      *Those Bruins were not trying to avoid contact, they were pushing on that glove with their sticks like their lives depended on it. So even if you want to say that Mrazek was out of his crease at this point in time (he really wasn't...he was mostly IN the crease when he covered the puck), the contact was illegal. This was a mistake, and the NHL should own up to it. Who do they think they're fooling with this crap? The fans have known for DECADES that referees frequently F up, but it's a REALLY rare occasion (I think I've seen it twice in my life) when the NHL actually admits it.

    Just speaking out of my ass here, but isn't it unfair that a team can take a penalty at the end of the 3rd and dump the puck with freedom of the icing call when winning? Imagine it, you're down one point, you get an extra attacker out there, but now that you're on a power play the other 4 players can constantly shoot at the empty net from anywhere on the ice... it's a boon for a penalty... that shouldn't happen... they should call the Icings if a penalty lasts until the end of the third (for the winning team only) either that or they should give extended time in the third period to the losing team if the winning team has a penalty that lasts longer than the time remaining.

  • @sarahmclaughlin2608
    @sarahmclaughlin2608 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Maybe it's the goalie in me who has had a similar experience, but here's my take (because I'm sooo important lmao): good goal, even though it's not fair.
    Let me explain: I don't actually see Ritchie touch the puck, but even if he does, Mrazek has his glove over the puck for maybe a second, so it's not a hand pass. It is not goalie interference because Bjork is going for the puck, and I understand that the play wasn't blown dead because, as I said, Mrazek has his glove over the puck for maybe a second, probably less. Should it be blown dead as soon as the goalie has it? I think so, but the refs didn't have a quick whistle and players don't stop playing until the whistle blows.
    It really sucks for Mrazek and even as a Bruins fan I feel for him, but it is a goal.

    • @huevoosranchero
      @huevoosranchero 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't see this as a not a quick enough whistle, as we've seen over the years the "intent to blow the whistle". The refs in my opinion flat out missed him having his glove on the puck until the review and its literally the NHL way to make an excuse instead of just admitting that it was a missed call especially since they say the goalie had control (covered in this case) then, it literally should've been a no goal. I don't care about either team in this series but thats just my take on it.

    • @LetsGoFlyers2011
      @LetsGoFlyers2011 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

If the official is telling the coach to choose then why the fuck is he an official. Theres no way that should be a goal and the worst part is when the official announced it he sounded like he wasnt even sure and just gave carolina a bench penalty out of panic

    Ight
    So lemme tell you what's up
    You can only challenge 1 ruling on a play
    Brind'Amour tried challenging both
    You can't do that
    He challenged for a hand pass
    Noted, Ritchie did commit a hand pass, but MRAZEK TOUCHED IT NEXT, thereby negating the hand pass
    Mrazek froze the puck, that should have been blown dead
    You get 1 hate point for being right, you can redeem this at any Bruins Fan Store near you (only at participating locations)
    However
    Brind'Amour challenged for a hand pass
    There was no hand pass
    Therefore it's a good goal after review.

    As a Canes fan, I'm not mad about games one or two in the CAR/BOS series. Both coach's challenges were absolute garbage, but the Canes scored shorthanded on the penalty for DoG, cancelling out the awarded goal, and they won game two.
    Yes, I wish the refs were better, but I'm not mad at this exact moment.
    Tom Dundon, the Canes owner, paid Rod's entire $25k fine. The final check came to $25,017, the extra $17 is because Rod's old number (that's hanging from the ceiling at PNC Arena in Raleigh) was 17. This shows that Dundon has Rod's back (which is a good thing to do when he's right).

    Yikes, Steve. As a Wild fan, don't try and tell me that they don't contribute anything...
    1) They bolster my local liquor store's Powers whiskey sales
    2) They always finish near the upper middle and vault whomever plays them in the first round of the playoffs a pretty easy road ahead.
    3) They provide one of the most welcoming and luxurious arenas for visiting fans.
    4) They consistently break the hearts of the Avalanche faithful/arrogant.
    5) They're never bad enough to snag a top-flight talent in the draft.
    6) Last but not least, in 2012 they taught the rest of the league the perils of front-loading so much of the salary cap into a small number of its "stars." That move completely hamstrung the team for nearly a decade and they may never climb out of the doldrums until those guys retire. Well, they taught every team except the Maple Leafs, it seems. So, I guess maybe their latest contribution is to keep the Leafs' cupless streak alive and save Lafrenier from being grossly underutilized in the talent-bomb that is Toronto.
    Jokes and jabs aside, I love your show more than most and look forward to Hat Picks and Dang-its every week. Thanks for all you do, congrats on the healthy baby, and I wish you nothing but the best. Cheers from just south of the border!

    I have to disagree...I don't think he had it covered long enough to be considered a frozen puck. He touched it, which makes the hand-pass null. It was knocked out from under his glove (which, a frozen puck by the goalie is not reviewable) and put into the goal. The players are taught to play-til-the-whistle...that's what they did. It is close, but it looks like a goal to me. Now, with that said...I have to say that the ref not telling coach what the call on the ice was is ridiculous. And I wish that like the NFL, all aspects (ALL ASPECTS) were reviewable. Then they could rule that this was covered (even though I don't think it was). But at least if freezing the puck was reviewable at all, they COULD say that he had it covered, or that the ref lost sight of the puck, or whatever.

    Here's what I don't understand about the 2nd lottery...why were the teams placed in THAT order? If each ball has same weight and size...I would imagine it would have made more sense to place them in order of standings...if they did that...Florida's ball would have been in the place where the Rangers ball was...also, if they gave the pick to the Qualifying Team E...the team that did technically win the lottery...that would have ALSO been Florida...I'd be pissed if I was a Florida fan.

  • @zachbarry5292
    @zachbarry5292 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mrazek didn’t even cover the puck for a second. Refs don’t immediately blow the play dead, especially when the goaltender leaps out of the crease to try and make a save. Now. Should there have been GI? No. Bjork technically had possession of the puck even after Mrazek slammed his glove on Bjork’s stick/puck. Should this have been a hand pass? No. The puck bounced off of the Carolina defender. It’s as simple as that. Now, if the call on the ice were to be reversed from good goal, the game still would’ve been tied. Carolina wouldn’t have scored that shorty since they wouldn’t have been assessed a minor for the failed challenge. Boston still would’ve won.

    A few things on the league
    There is no conspiracy...the Leafs have won a top pick. They have him on their team and he's good. The Rangers haven't ever won one. They did now. Sorry the Leafs only have one top pick in the last few years. That's a rough rough go. Oh except they signed a second top pick from the Islanders. And yes he's on the team now. So that's two top picks. They still lost. And guess what... I'm positive the Leafs fans were giddy to join in on those 1940 chants before the Rangers won for the first time in 54 freaking years. And guess what! The Leafs are thiiiiiiis close to that 54 year mark. And they better win next year or else man they will probably go longer than 54. So when do we start those chants around the league? Yes the Rangers got their first top pick. And it was sweet. Still is actually....
    and officials... This all started long ago when the league decided to adjust penalties to "open up the game and reduce interference and hooking etc.." It took the refs 3 years to understand what hooking is and still get it twisted because hooking is now "holding a stick horizontal to the ice". And cross checking effectively became legal. Because I guess that doesn't slow up the game. Then video replay. All of these things are trying to perfect what ain't all that broken. And it leads to this kind of thing. Or things like offsides replays that bring back goals when the offsides wasn't relevant to the play. Etc... Brindamour schooled David Quinn and now the league. And he's dead on.
    Lgr

    I don't see what was wrong with the call on the Boston goal. A Boston players touched the puck with his glove, then Mrazek covered it, but immediately flipped it backwards. so, he didn't cover it long enough for a stoppage, and negated the hand pass from the Boston player gloving it by playing it. What am I missing?

    Dip into this now and again...never have been interested in botched plays. I think the basic psychology behind those who find this amusing or entertaining is jealousy / inferiority / insecurity. Guy slips on banana peel: I laugh -- it didn't happen to me, which reminds me that there are other, stupider more generally embarrassed people in the world, which is comforting.This is schadenfreude - gladness to not the be person being laughed at. At the root of schadenfreude is dehumanization. The definition of dehumanization: Dehumanization is the process of perceiving a person or social group as lacking the attributes that define what it means to be human.
    I already been pretty aware of these connections, which always made me both wonder and get angry when I see people not only express schadenfreude, but do so without any doubt it might be immoral.

    I would say for the Carolina dang it: The ref's call was good goal so it should not be up to the ref to tell the coach what to challenge. Of course the fact that after the review the ref basically comes on the mic and says (I paraphrase) "There was no goal because the goalie covered the puck but because you challenged the wrong thing the call on the ice, which was wrong, stands and you get two minutes for delay of game." is absolutely ridiculous.
