That's some vocal power ... the distance she is backing off from the microphone 😳 Take a look at Trøllabundin for some vocal gymnastics ... Eivør Pálsdóttir: Tròdlabùndin (Trøllabundin) - 10.08.13 : th-cam.com/video/wsl-KHGe4Kk/w-d-xo.html
Yes a beautiful song with a magical, mysterious feeling! This is with her band and a what looks like a youth symphony orchestra. th-cam.com/video/fYVF24-kyz4/w-d-xo.html
Wow...she is fantastic. Her voice reminds me of Lisa Ekdahl, Blossom Deary and Katie Melua sort of blended together. They looked like they really enjoyed themselves which is really what it's about when performing. Just terrific!
I’m really digging this artist! The live performance is amazing. I don’t normally gravitate towards female singers but I’m appreciative of what her and Aurora are producing. Eivør’s sound is dreamy, « witchy » and tragic in such a beautiful way. So hard to explain. I’m a sucker for these sad melodies as well. There’s something really special in the way she expresses herself through her voice which makes it difficult to turn away. Mesmerizing! I also laughed at your Muppets reference 😂. So true! Thanks again Steve for your authentic reaction!
Another great reaction from you. There are several other Eivør songs I could suggest, and live is usually best with her, although she does do a mean black and white music video to some of her studio recordings. But I think it would be good to see you react next to this live recording of ‘True Love’ th-cam.com/video/R4HgBwvmn-s/w-d-xo.html
Darn....Just when you think you heard it all. Love her twists at around 4:00 into this tune where she seems to go her guitar to get some high notes in but instead switches to her piercing vocals to give a Jimi Hendrix style guitar sole with her vocal cords instead. Have you ever heard this before? This is insane, even Hendrix couldn't follow where she goes improvising with her voice. I simply can't believe this and indeed, this is not an act ; she is into this 100%. Again...just wow..this is one for the ages even if not widely known...
Steve O’G I believe this is the 70ies vibe you are refering to in a nutshell. Annisette from Savage Rose sang to very similar music composed by Koppel brothers. ‘Wild Child’ and ‘dear litle mother’ are spot on! th-cam.com/video/ARpmcu227lI/w-d-xo.html
Glad you liked it. And yeah, it's not a complicated song, that's not why I suggested it, but because of her vocal in the song. There are many great songs by Eivør. One of my favorites, is a Kate Bush song, called Hounds of Love. I suggest you listen to the original first, then to Eivør's version.
Explosion of vocal skill. Absolute mind blowing breathtaking and on top of it life performance. 80% singers now days cant sing even after studio tweaks but this is pure art. I really recommend her life performance of her song called true love. Just jaw dropping as always
she carries centuries in her voice. whatever you listen by her, there is no disappointment at all. and so much more to discover! her voice changed during time, nowadays her voice is much lower than in earlier recordings. i like them all! you should also do another susanne sundfor reaction. you did one song by her, a performance at the nobel peace prize, which was not her best one. i always reccomend "the brothel" live at cigalle.
@@SteveOGRock you can also listen to anna von hausswolff. "stranger" live, or "they hoped for a name". it's difficult to pick that one avh-song, because the songs are all so different. "sova" live is great, "funeral for my future children" live with her band. but also her really eerie music videos, for example "come wander with me" or "the mysterious vanishing of electra" or "evocation". super interesting artist because there is no box to put her into.
Great reaction 🙂 Eivør is a great artist and an awesome vocalist for sure. That being said, the two performances you have heard by her so far aren't totally representative for her average music, at least the way I see it (and hear it ). But they definitely showcase her abilities 🙂 Love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥
From what I have learned from vocal coaches, it's not the size of her lungs, but her incredible ability to control her breath combined with perfect pitch and an insane amount of practice. These things combined make her the worlds greatest vocalist apparently. Covering her would be a feat methinks.
I don't know if she writes any of the lyrics or music to the songs she sings, but I bet she does. There is something special about a singer performing their own work and that was the vibe I was getting. But then, she'd sound great singing the phone book! Excellent analysis as always - thanks Steve.
There’s a video for her song “Salt” which is more of a rock (stripped down tho) genre. It’s in a factory. I think? It’s more of her powerful lower range, and has a hard rock (and weirdly an echo of the 80’s) I think most ppl have figured out after 2 songs that she’s incredibly timeless. Really enjoyed the reaction/ analysis- nice work! i Tokuni is also a harder rocking song, excellent evocative video, but i really love the live performance in “Salt”
I agree with the old vibe comment at the start. I imagined seeing a turning record as I listened to the beginning. I felt a bit bad that after the absolutely amazing note bending, mic drop portion from her that the band seemed to need a "we're really good too, right?" ending. Great reaction
... I thought...the last thing is a pure JOY, grateful thanks to the music itself... You know...Joy for doing that I love to do, because I love Music !!!!
Eivor is a vocal powerhouse and pure magic.
That's some vocal power ... the distance she is backing off from the microphone 😳

Yes, that is really special and fascinating!
I second this!
You might give a listen to any of the live performances of "Gullspunnin", a truly magical experience. And BTW, Eivor is her name, not the band's...
Yes a beautiful song with a magical, mysterious feeling! This is with her band and a what looks like a youth symphony orchestra. th-cam.com/video/fYVF24-kyz4/w-d-xo.html

you should give a try to Susanne Sundfor and High as a Kite.
@@annesophie57 Thanks! I’ll check this out!

She is a classically trained singer, and I think it shows in her singing style. :)
This is one of my favorite song from Eivør 🤩 love her!! Greetings from Norway 🇳🇴

Same thing, this is my second test flight with an eivor reaction.
Lady is very special indeed

Yes, interaction between musicians playing with their music and having fun always adds something extra! 😊

I loved the Muppet Animal comment, priceless! Drummer was lost but Eivor is such a pro, she calmly got them back on track… and what a voice!
"Remember me" and "Morning song"
Thanks!

She is absolutely amazing - but of course Kate Bush fans are like … “She’s channeling Kate … who is still Alive!”.
I don't know if she writes any of the lyrics or music to the songs she sings, but I bet she does. There is something special about a singer performing their own work and that was the vibe I was getting. But then, she'd sound great singing the phone book! Excellent analysis as always - thanks Steve.
and of course "salt"
Animal is the Norse God of Drummers :)
it was hard to watch until the end because you talk just toooo much damn it

mix voice /kate bush and bjork
the bass sound you hear is the mighty Mooog synth
nice one, thanks!
Very 70s and she looks like Mommy Dearest

to fully appreciate Eivor, it's a must to hear her sing in her native Faroese.......
I f___ing looove that drum solo.!!!
Just keep interrupting so I can not enjoy the song.
If you’d like to just enjoy the song with no distraction I’d suggest watching the original video, not a reaction video.
