I saw Eivør in concert many years ago, and spoke to her after the show, me speaking Norwegian and her speaking Gøtudanskt (Danish spoken with Faroese phonetics, which makes it effectively Norwegian).
@@johnjohn37371 There's a wikipedia page about it: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gøtudanskt_accent Basically Faroese is its completely own language, about as intelligible to Norwegians and Danes as German is to someone who only speaks English -- that is, you might make out a word here and there, but mostly not. When you first reacted to Eivør, you got me into her music. I have slowly been going through her discography. An amazing artist. I also like Elinborg, who is also from Faroe Islands, who I have come across. They have made a track together recently.

Hi Nina, I do have a favourite EIVOR song which is so beautiful it's called "True Love". It's best seen performed "Live". (Below is the address for her performance): "TRUE LOVE": th-cam.com/video/NA5dnFUh-EU/w-d-xo.html
Come for the reaction, stay for the lovely, comfy jumper. I've been lucky to see her live a few times, and every performance and song is a bit different every time, it's the one thing that makes her talents stand out so much
I would recommend either: Eivør - The Last Kingdom: Main Theme (Live at Hammersmith Apollo) or Eivør Pálsdóttir - Monster (The one where she plays the kalimba).
Hi, Nina! If you love Eivor's music I would highly suggest listening to more of both her folk style songs, like the ones she made for the Netflix TV series The Last Kingdom, and some of her more modern songs (all of which will incorporate some folk elements into it because that is her specialty). I personally LOVE when artist combine old folk styles with more modern sounds because it makes the musical piece feel so much more dynamic and full of depth. Another great folk artist is Heilung and Joanna Jinton. The latter (Jinton) is extremely talented in the ancient art of kulning. Kulning is an ancient Scandinavian herding call. Its unique vocal technique was traditionally used by women to call livestock like cows and goats from high mountain pastures back to the farm. The high-pitched, melodic calls can travel long distances, which makes them effective for communication in the vast landscapes of Scandinavia. Kulning is not only functional but also has a hauntingly beautiful quality, often conveying a sense of melancholy due to its use of half-tones and quarter-tones. Today, it has evolved into an art form, with many performances and recordings showcasing its mesmerizing sound.
Seeing you experience this for the first time took me back to my first time ... exactly the same ... had to listen several times to get enough 😍 Sitting watching you enjoy that high B-flat thinking "I know what's coming ..." 😜
Eivor is one of my ancestral peeps. Denmark represent! Lots of great Scandinavian vocalists out there right now, including my barefoot princess, Angelina Jordan. Eivor really captures the spirit of the north. Great reaction, Nina!
"Eivør - True Love | Sofar Los Angeles" very good song just love her we also have "Eivør gullspunnin from i luftini" and "Eivør truth" best female singer in the world.
Have you heard the Soundtrack to the TV series, The Last Kingdom. It's mind blowing. Every sound is made by veteran composer John Lunn and Eivor. John discovered Eivor watching the same video you did Nina. He arranged a meeting to see what she could offer. After 3 days they had recorded the main theme which Eivor made up out of her head vocally and did in one take, singing over music John had recorded. Ask John what her musicality is like. He said she can sing anything, even singing as a young boy at one stage. He stopped asking her if she could do whatever. The music for the series was credited to John Lunn and Eivor.
I've only just scratched the surface of Eivør's work, myself, but my personal recommendation would be for her cover of my favorite Leonard Cohen song, _Famous Blue Raincoat._
Great reaction, Eivør is amazing and she remind me Kate Bush too, she actually did a beautiful cover of Hounds of Love. next i suggest you react to her song Gullspunnin, it's very spacial.
Eivor and composer John Lunn did a live broadcast from home during the pandemic shutdown. A reaction to their live performance of tracks from the Last Kingdom would be time well spent. There have not been many reaction videos posted of this performance, so you would be one of the first. 😊 Also, I saw Eivor perform live in Germany last fall and it was an amazing experience. It was truly everything one could hope for in a concert.
Thank You for this very nice reaction to my absolute favourite artist! For the next one I would suggest "I Tokuni" th-cam.com/video/pqnMkUcTmys/w-d-xo.html , or her cover of the Kate Bush song "Hounds of Love" th-cam.com/video/cVimRZ3jScU/w-d-xo.html Love from Norway
Next up, "Wake Me Up" RTT version with Eivør: th-cam.com/video/av-AvDEKJnc/w-d-xo.html Or "Hounds of Love" - music video (Eivør does Kate Bush song: th-cam.com/video/cVimRZ3jScU/w-d-xo.html Or "True Love" live and solo from Los Angeles: th-cam.com/video/NA5dnFUh-EU/w-d-xo.html You could also do a more mainstream song, "I Tokuni" (music video) th-cam.com/video/pqnMkUcTmys/w-d-xo.html All songs are pretty different from each other
Just found you because of Marcelito. Yes, Eivør is otheworldly. I like the Kate Bush/Coldplay references. So, I checked and you do not appear to have reacted to Diana Ankudinova. I am sure you have gotten that suggestion many times, but I'm going to add my vote for you to check her out. She is sort of the converse of Eivør. You'll see what I mean. Here is her rendition of "Can't Help Falling in Love". th-cam.com/video/SY3OZVmfGVw/w-d-xo.html
Eivor, really is very special. Take a deep dive and you will not be disappointed. Also maybe take a look at Highasakite- Lover where do you live. Live at the Norwegian opera and ballet. Again I do not think you would be disappointed.
Well, since you keep mentioning Kate Bush, you should probably listen to Eivørs cover of kate's Hounds of Love. Beside that, I would suggest some of her accusics: Rain - stripped down version or Surrender from London Solo Session. And maybe True Love. My first Eivør love is still: Í Tokuni
Hey, really love the video so much!! was wondering if u could maybe react to Melanie Martinez her new album? has some really interesting songs on it!! ur amazingg
If you like music if you know music you have to appreciate this performance even if it's not your cup of tea it's a matter of recognizing talent. In my opinion and for my taste this song is average very pop but she's incredible.
Now, could there ever be an actual fusion collaboration between Kate Bush, and Cold Play? Because, if Eivor is any indication, that really could be epic!
This song gets me every time, it's just SO emotional and powerful! I'd say either Salt (the live in a train warehouse version) th-cam.com/video/IW8jTpb5EpY/w-d-xo.html - or her live version of Gullspunnin th-cam.com/video/_1pAKeTjgLE/w-d-xo.html Also you should definitely check out Kalandra, another incredible Nordic group! Their song Brave New World is stunning th-cam.com/video/C3YC1FGLxUw/w-d-xo.html

For next I recommend this version of "True Love": th-cam.com/video/R4HgBwvmn-s/w-d-xo.html and "Truth": th-cam.com/video/jVgCU9U-8Hw/w-d-xo.html
Great reaction, I enjoed it so much. This is one of my vavorite songs ever. I saw her live in Germany and it was mindblowing. I love the sofar session of "True Love" the most after this: th-cam.com/video/NA5dnFUh-EU/w-d-xo.html
I could not hear any overdubs. Lot of reverb which Eivor controls with her foot pedals. All I could hear was guitar, drums and the synth's, including the bass synth he was using. Eivor's operating some guitar delay with her pedals also. I expect being there would have sounded even more awesome. It is very well recorded, but it is her making it sound like a studio recording. Not as much as a slight waver in her singing, even on delicate notes, basically it's perfection. A normal singer would make it sound more average, probably needing backup vocals to carry it.
WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FU#K?!!! I was with you up until the point you had the audacity to mention Coldplay?! "Kind of Coldplay-esque" Like seeing a Rembrandt Van Rijn and saying "Kind of similar to a monkeys faeces daubing on its cage wall"

Or "True Love" live and solo from Los Angeles:

You could also do a more mainstream song, "I Tokuni" (music video)

All songs are pretty different from each other
Just found you because of Marcelito.
What sorcery is this? Makes my eyes all watery? :O
Great reaction! Greetings from Germany! ^.^ :)
Please react to her live song "True Love". It will blow your mind.
I recommend her album "Slor" from 2017. A masterpiece, you won't be disappointed.
& "True love" live at SOFAR Los Angeles.
Regards.
Check out "Bridges".....please......The third chord, my goodness
Now, could there ever be an actual fusion collaboration between Kate Bush, and Cold Play? Because, if Eivor is any indication, that really could be epic!
Have you heard of a guy called Ren and his TH-cam video called Hi Ren , it totally changed my world xxxx
She is impressive isn’t she. And you my dear are completely lovely.
This song gets me every time, it's just SO emotional and powerful! I'd say either Salt (the live in a train warehouse version) th-cam.com/video/IW8jTpb5EpY/w-d-xo.html - or her live version of Gullspunnin th-cam.com/video/_1pAKeTjgLE/w-d-xo.html
Also you should definitely check out Kalandra, another incredible Nordic group! Their song Brave New World is stunning th-cam.com/video/C3YC1FGLxUw/w-d-xo.html
😂 I was about to type, “Sounds like Kate Bush” when you said, “Quite Katebush-esque”. 😂
Look into it
SO THE NORDIC SPINGS OUT BAAAAAH

a raven godess presenting me to my farthers odin
Hi Nina, in the same vein, I would recommend you to give a try to 2 other Norvegian artists, Highasakite and Susanne Sundfor. Knowing that you are a piano lover, I propose you th-cam.com/video/9R1QB0m91RY/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/A-uRyOu4YV4/w-d-xo.html
Great reaction! I saw her live last year. I never heard about her before, just went to the show, because her name was exciting😆 After that I deleted almost all of my music from my pc. For next I recommend this version of "True Love": th-cam.com/video/R4HgBwvmn-s/w-d-xo.html
and "Truth": th-cam.com/video/jVgCU9U-8Hw/w-d-xo.html
I find it hard to listen to other things after hearing Eivor.
Some how I suspect that was an emotional experience for you as well.
Great reaction, I enjoed it so much.
This is one of my vavorite songs ever. I saw her live in Germany and it was mindblowing.
I love the sofar session of "True Love" the most after this: th-cam.com/video/NA5dnFUh-EU/w-d-xo.html
Do You Know where She is frrom
If I may make a suggestion, try "Wake me up" next.

Awesome performance, but the track would have been mixed post show and probably had some overdubs to the band mix.
So You where She is from?
The Faroe Islands a country with a population of 52,000 people in the North Atlantic.
WE ARE AND HAVE ALLWAYS BIN WE ARE U ENGLISH WE AR E THE SCOTT WE AR INDIVI
born dead north
Do You know?i its important
"Torshavn" means "Thor's Haven". That should give you an idea of how to pronounce it.
She has a wonderful vocal but too high pitched for my ears. Always like lower tone female vocals.
Yeah, because she's doing it on a guitar! You bend notes and make them effing cry! You classical guys are so linear
