My rustoleum kit didn’t come with a deglosser. Just a cleaner/degreaser. Is that meant to serve the same purpose?

I would maybe sand first and then follow these same steps

How is it holding up now that it's been a year? Not sanding or priming makes me nervous about the paint peeling.

It's a glaze that gives it an antique look which isn't really my style. It's an optional step.
