    Really like the projects you are doing here. Since you are always giving out helpful tips to others i’ve got 2 for you.
    1. They make an even smaller osc tool sanding attachment called a finger sander. It’s about 1” x2” and even better than your triangle head for small things like this, just make sure you get the correct attachment pattern for your tool. They are available on amazon.
    2. The best fix for a bad cabinet base i have found is to use 1/8 luan (veneer plywood) and cut a replacement piece to go over it. This will reinforce it and you will have a woodgrain base that looks like new. Depending on your door opening size you may have to cut it in half to install it. Just glue or brad nail it in place.

    It came out great! Looks brand new. It did make me glad I never painted my vanity but restained it instead. That was a lot of work!

    I appreciate the effort you took to bring the vanity back to natural wood! Natural “whitewashed” wood is very much in right now.

    I love the vanity make over! I especially love the tip on how to keep wood looking natural. I was just contemplating that! I want it unfinished but I didn't want the stain sealent to discolor it. Beautiful job! Thanks for sharing!

    Thank you for this great video showing some of the challenges you came up against! Looking forward to doing a similar job, with perhaps a mocha glaze and oil rubbed bronze hardware to update a southwestern home.

    Matte black is my vote. We just updated all three of our bathrooms and installed matte black in two of them and they look great!

    I just built all new bedroom furniture out of birch and just finished with poly. Added matt black handles and love it. Im a huge fan of the matt black against natural

      Nice. I bought wood for a tall bath "pantry" cabinet and am just going to finish sand it and poly it also. The doors I will most likely stain black. (Same stain as my DIY washer/dryer pedastal by the entryway).
      The matte black hardware on the wood does sound gorgeous! I got a 2-in -1 matte black grab bar with towel bar for just outside my shower and look forward to installing it!

      @@kendrab8997 i am very partial to natural tone wood. I do have a friend that is slowly turning me on to darker stains and blacks. I really just like trying to build stuff ha

    As usual Melissa you did a fine job! I really like the white wash effect. As for a recommendation for knob colors, I would definitely go with black!

    Klean Strip makes a product called After Wash that is used after doing your stripping. This product is truly amazing - removes the paint residue that you literally can't see and leaves a wood surface that barely needs sanding. I can't say enough about this stuff - its amazing.

    I love the redo of the vanity. I am currently stripping and restaining my cabinets to their natural maple. I am NOT having fun with the stripping. The doors and drawers were easy. the upper cabinets are back-breaking. Would you happen to have any recommendations on how to help with this process? I am very close to calling someone to finish the job. Also, I noticed you did a whitewash to keep the natural color. I found that interesting because I purchased a Whitewash/color wash from Minwax and it left the cabinets looking streaky with white in some areas but not others. I had to strip it off because it was terrible looking. Would you have a recommendation for that? Why is it streaking? Thanks for your help.

  • @novohammer6176

    Nice redo I like a pull better than a knob also try waxing drawer glide parts they might slide better. Good job !!

    You're incredible. You have a baby and then strip the vanity. You must take energy drinks or something. Continue to do what ever you're doing because it's working. Wishing you and you're family great health and success!

    We will be stripping layers of paint on our bathroom vanity. The current colors are vomit green on the walls and poop espresso brown on the vanity. It’s HIDEOUS! I’m thinking of a grey vanity with purple walls. Do you have any recommendations to protect myself from the fumes? I am very sensitive to smells and get migraines easily. Our bathroom has a fan but not a window. Thanks!!

  • @christophermckinney984
    @christophermckinney984 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I love the way that turned out Melissa! Our vanity in the main bathroom is colored just like that, and since I took the door down and sanded the fool out of it until it’s mostly bare wood with some white still there, kind of a distressed look, but I think doing our vanity in a similar fashion would really tie the room together. Question though, the door I sanded is the inside of the bathroom, and like I said, I got it down to bare wood on most of it. The thing is, I haven’t done anything else to it. Should I seal it somehow? And if so, with what?

    • @WelcometotheWoodsBlog
      @WelcometotheWoodsBlog  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you should seal it. If you like the finish, just put some poly on it. I linked to a great one in the video description!

    Definitely go with black. I hear black is the new black.
    I had a similar issue with under our sink... I just cut a ¼" plywood sheet and brad nailed it on top of the old one.

    You could research Scandinavian kitchen cabinets etc. since you have it going on and it looks fab. I think a wood design pull on the large side would be worth a look. Round, oval, square?

    White ceramic drawer pulls will give the natural wood cabinet an old ice box look. A different look than the satin or black.

    You might want to consider using veneers, they come in cheaper types of wood as well as the expensive types and are very satisfying to use i.e. instant transformation.

    You could always do black matte on the vanity, and satin nickel faucet so you don't have to worry as much about water spots. (But you still have matte black on bottom).

    Harbor Freight has 2" chip brushes for less than $.40 each. Also 1" and 3". Doesn't hurt the wallet to toss them when done.
