Thanks for this! Going back to work in 2 months and I’m an elementary teacher! Although I will pump at work, I can definitely see myself missing a session here and there because of not being able to leave my students, which I know will effect my supply. So I have been pumping only once each day for about 10-15 minutes and I almost have about a gallon altogether. However, I know it looses its nutrients over time and have even heard it changes taste slightly so this is why I am not pushing to pump so much since I am also only breastfeeding my baby currently as well and he needs to eat!!
Occasionally moms have high Lipase. It makes you milk smell sour or like soap or tin. Most babies don’t mind it though. You can freeze a small amount, then open it in a couple of weeks to see how it smells. Pumping on a regular basis can be hard for teachers. Ask your principal if you might get a helper for pump time. Most schools won’t do that but it doesn’t hurt to ask. Your frozen milk does loose nutrients so it’s best to use fresh first. The freezer stash can be for emergencies. ❤️
We never latched because the hospital pushed bottles on us… she refuses to breastfeed now… I pump as often as she eats but I am making 4-8 ozs per pump where she is eating 2 ozs per feed. What should I do? Slow pumping? I would love to just breastfeed because I have 300ozs in the freezer now
How old is she now? Did she latch but pop off or never latched? You’ll want to go slow so that you don’t get a clogged duct. I would still pump as often but cut the pumping time down by a couple of minutes. After a few days you can cut the time down a little more if you’re not getting engorged.
She is three weeks as of tomorrow, she will latch and feed sometimes in the middle of the night but during the day she gets on sucks twice and gets super pissed and starts to cry when (I guess) the milk isn't coming fast enough. I will def reduce the time pumping. So far been skipping a few pump sessions here and there just to get some sleep, as I am now back to work full time and need some sleep to function and take care of her at the same time. @@marycahillclc
