Those two books are the most hilarious and amazing of the whole SOG and Vietnam era together. A fantastic read and I cannot recommend them enough. Thank you, mr. Brokhausen.
I've read "Wispers in the Tall Grass" it was a great read. I haven't read "We Few" yet but it's definitely on my list. I didn't know about ' We Few" until I had already read " Wispers in the Tall Grass" or I would have started with It.
This is the most riveting thing out. There is no reason we shouldn't be celebrating these guys in film or in a 5 or 9 season series. Traveling through the beginning of SF until the 90's featuring declassified missions
Yep, those SOG guys were 100% rock star bad asses, a mini series in the fashion of Band of Brothers and The Pacific would be great. Along those lines, Spielberg and Hanks are making the 3rd of their WW2 trilogy Masters of the Air from the book that's about the 8th Air Force in WW2, to keep things in perspective the 8th Air Force flying out of England lost more men during the war than the Marine Corps did in the entire war, those guy's in the bombers paid a heavy price for German industry being hammered, they worked with HBO studios to make Band of Brothers and The Pacific but about 10 years ago HBO backed out when they went to make Masters of the Air, they were as far along as having made a trailer you can see here on TH-cam, if the finished product is going to be half as good as the trailer it's going to be epic and maybe even better than the first two. Apple TV is the studio is who they're making with now, I can't wait. Edit; The old trailer from back then is under the title "The Mighty 8th" which is what the 8th Air Force has been called for years.
Agreed but hollywierd will have a bunch of pedos playing their parts and will then stand on a soap box and demand we be disarmed and vaxxed. Fk Hollywood!!
If I had the right kind of bank roll I would. There are seasons upon seasons of material for an awesome series tucked away in these podcasts. Going back to the old ones...like any individual mission that JSM or Frenchman went on...that could basically be a movie

I listen to the podcast, but still re-watch when the interviews hit TH-cam. I really like the author's note from We Few - I always think it would make a good intro to any SOG interview. The paragraph "We are still a bad sort to back into a corner, and three hundred to one odds are something that we consider as unfair to the guy with two hundred and ninety nine of his buddies against us. There are anecdotes innumerable of people that have assumed wrongly that we are just a bunch of old people who can be buffaloed or intimidated. Greetings from Scotland, Mister Meyer Sir! May I request that you interview Mr Franklin D Miller, former SOG Operative who did 5 tours of duty in Vietnam and a recipient of the Congresstional Medal of Honour. He wrote the book "Reflections of a Warrior", a damn good read if I may say so! just a brief update: Mr Miller died in the year 2000 aged 55 from cancer. my deepest sympathies to his family.
My former stepdad has a Silver Star from Vietnam. I asked him what he got it for, and all he said was "Being completely stupid, and trying to get myself killed."

My utmost respect to these two warriors and to all those to lost their lives in the secret war.
Nick. Your books are so authentic. The best Vietnam accounts I've read. Good podcast guys...top work
Ive read both books twice and theyre more delightful each time.
Thanks for these podcasts John, it’s so important to record these experiences so that others can try to understand what happened during those years.

Have listened to both of these books on Audible at least 2 times. You guys are Superman. It’s a miracle that you survived. I know a lot of good men didn’t. Have referred these books to a lot of people. Will listen to them again. Love the podcast.
