Outf---ingstanding, I haven't grined and-or lol so much in years. I've gotta wild&kinky idea, John & John for president and vice president our country would be cooler ( limited vocabulary, due to minimal human contact). Nick Broad house as sec of state. Got my vote. Thankya sir's. May the sun always be on your back with a gentle breezz across your cheeks brother's. From an ole broken down, jarheaded, truck driving hillbilly 🤔🙄🤫👍
Subtitles are fine. You and Nick did fantastic, don't be too critical on yourself; I hope your knee is ok. In the last few weeks, I've been in a bad spot. Karl, your videos have kept me occupied, informed, and entertained. Your videos have kept my mind from dark places and helped me focus. I love the gear stuff with SGM Lamb. It's awesome to watch you two geek out on gear. It's awesome to watch two men with experience talk about gear and how it was used. Mr. Mullins is a legend, and he looks like it. Tilt looks 20 years younger than he is. I always look forward to your videos, Karl. And I'd watch Tilt watch paint dry. Great stuff. Thank you, fellas.
This was fantastic and was easily the best thing I had watched in months. Thank you for sharing all the stories and memories doing it! I have always felt and lived by the belief of being so damn good that you don't take yourself so seriously and keep a humble attitude as well as a sense of humor. You have someone show up for Friday Night Steel in full kit with a hard-on and a attitude to match. Here you have SOG and SF legends laughing and telling jokes. Friday Night Steel guy has a bachelors degree in bullshit. You can spot and see it coming a mile away if you know what you are talking about and doing. Excellent video and content with much respect here.
In the early 80's they drilled the "quick kill method" into us at Hunter AAF. That stuck with me, that in the mid 90's as a Drill Sgt I would demo at the m16 qual range by doing quick kills at 300 meters without a problem, funny how things stick with you. Now I know who to thank; Thanks, Metal Dick!!!
In 1973 Basic Training we were not trained on Quick Kill at all, until we got to qualification firing. Then we were required to engage a few targets with QK techniques. Typical Army.
Great interview. I always enjoy hearing from John. I have to correct something at 1:25:40 though. You'll find that the _original_ frangible ammo dates back to 1945 and the .30-06 T44 Frangible round later type classified as the M22 Frangible round.
Great interview and stories Karl, both John Mullens and John Meyers are legends! You guys cracked me up with the shit shoot!! We (Rangers) were trained in counterterrorism and hostage rescue by the Blue Light Task Force in the mid 1970s, and yes we were taught quick kill techniques, trained in the michilen city shoot house as well as plane fuselages, train cars and buses. And yes, an audio book(s) would be awesome!!
Left me wanting more stories! In this interview, I realized Tilt is a great "Ed McMahon", and a less effective "Johnny Carson" reading excerpts as monologue in the SOG broadcasts. Any way you slice it, John is a tremendous resource and story teller, and an inspiration to this dyslexic, who also has trouble reading out loud.
I'm glad I got to watch this interview. I have 2 uncle's who served and I cousin that I know of. Our cousin lost his life. My both my uncle's made it home. They don't talk about it.
I loved the Soldier of Fortune PC game John was a part of (which also came out on SEGA Dreamcast). I got it right when it came out and I still think about it to this day. I still like going back to it after all these years.
Can’t believe I missed this. Outstanding show. Have heard about BB gun training for years. Stories of folks getting good enough to shoot aspirin or Fizzes thrown in the air. You definitely have to try video wing shooting his method.
Great to see this guy in a video. I did Sam in 3/69 , but Bullis first . Ended up in lll Corp and worked out of Loch Ninh many times . The guys I was with ( Rangers ) showed me this QK method in 70. Stay strong brother ! doc 25th / others 68-71 .
That was awesome karl, we now need of course the instinctive bb spot shooting. these men were giants. that strodin the Earth. in their prime. that truly was fascinating I. think the first vid i ever watch of tactical rifle man was point shooting with a pistol.
White Star ski's, heavy wood with metal edges along with long cross-country poles. Needed to apply ski wax to the bottoms. I used Chippawaugh boots with an indent groove around the back of the heel. The original boots were Mountain boots from Germany, with a square sole tip. My Team Daddy had a pair of the Mountain boots from the 77th. He took us to a State Park for training, we were off any trails, and had to cut our own way through trees and mountain laurel, good training by the whole Team. 11th Group A Compay , Fort Devens.
Fantastic True worriers to hear and understand what men like this did in combat for their country with courage and honor a country whose leaders did not care about , Dam Honorable Bad ass men.
I know a PRU/Phoenix advisor from force recon . Wild stuff! Some rovinces had problems with theft and graft and no big intel snags! My contact had the biggest intel “spy” get during the entire war
This was back when they had their own homemade kits they didn't have all these perfect pouches, and perfect holsters for each model, they had to improvise and make everything they need for ammo, food, etc.
I remember that Quick Kill training at Fort Dix, NJ. We shot BB gun rifles at 2 inch disks with white tape covering the center hole, like a washer. We tracked it up, pointed the gun and shot it at the apex before it fell downwards. This was in December 1967. Not using the sights, pointing at it was enough, about 3 inches above the tip of the barrel. With the M14 we shot pop-up sillowet-shaped green targets at various distances. Sometimes they got stuck causing an Alla-by for scoring. The best was night fire, with aiming sticks and elevation sticks. this was interesting on how many would miss targets at night. Some M14's would go full-auto instead of semi-auto. Lot of fun picking up brass that froze to the ground. The missing night targets was an eye-opener, more practice need to be done for this.
Montignards. Not "Mountain Yards". edit - I get it, you used machine captioning - there's no point since YT does this anyway. If you're going to hard-code subs, you really should check them. "through a file" instead of "suicidal" at around 40:00 as well.
These guys did their jobs with very low tech, no steroids no tattoos they need to pay these guys to teach our spec ops today. The wealth of knowledge they could give
Bloody love this Karl! Do more and defo do the audiobooks - need to get this out to wider audiences and not let this level of humble hero vanish ….. must make sure you get the pronouns right 😂😂
Unbearable amounts of fun!! Please be advised if you ever find yourself in Solvay N Y. Not allowed 2 pay 4 your drinks!!! Keep it rollin'. Great job!!!
Yep, TH-cam no longer promotes us. We pissed them off some how. Subscribe and hit the bell for notifications and they MIGHT notify you every once in a while. We still put out a new video EVERY Friday and do a livestream every Tuesday. Thanks for watching, TR.
I feel privileged just to listen to the stories this man shares. Salute to the three of you. Makes me feel proud that I served!

Have you read any of their books? I just read Whispers in the Tall Grass written by a MACV SOG guy. Interesting stories.
I ALWAYS love hearing stories from gentlemen like these. Living legends.
Thanks for this video. I missed going to Nam by two months and love hearing these stories. Please keep the MACVSOG videos coming our way!
More to come!
Always hearing these SOG heroes.
Somehow after all these years you still have the very best commercials 👏👏👏
This man's storied life truly is what legends are made of. Wow.
In the early 80's they drilled the "quick kill method" into us at Hunter AAF. Wow, quick kill unsighted shots at 300m? That's seriously impressive
In 1973 Basic Training we were not trained on Quick Kill at all, until we got to qualification firing. Then we were required to engage a few targets with QK techniques. Typical Army.

Great stuff! Hope you do a video of shooting aspirins with Red Ryders.
And yes, the audiobook would be most appreciated!
Unlike the SEALS, ‘SFs’ don’t advertise their accomplishments.

Do the audio book Carl!!! All the best!
Hi karl, Just curious, on about what the rest of the wording on the Pitcher behind John Mullins, head...
Awesome!
Glad you think so!
As Hack would say, "You're either a stud or a dud."
This man is a stud!
The look when he said “what do you do for rats?” 😳

I was at Benning at that time. I did the BB gun during Vietnam orientation after jump school and also seen John Wayne filming the Green Berets.
