The Music Must Change has no drums because Keith couldn't figure out how to play it. Then there's the "Not To Be Taken Away" on his chair. Very prophetic. And sad.
John got 3 tracks on this album, and it's partly that he wrote them to be sung by Roger. John was a great singer, doing all the Who's high harmonies, and perfectly capable of singing lead to his songs, but figured he might get more songs on if he let the singer sing.
There is a live version os Trick from the tour, John splits the lead with Roger, when John is singing Pete and Roger harmonize behind him. really good, but it would have took me over the minutes for my plan, one of my 3 songs is almost 10 minutes.. The 8 string bass I have to ask my friend about this weekend, he is a bass player and a big fan of John's.
Also, would love to see what you think of a lesser known Who tune, "I've Known No War". Really like it as it gives a nod to previous Who song off of Quadrophenia, but a good Pete rumination on war.
John Entwistle used an 8 string bass on 'Trick of the light'. When they performed it Live Pete Townshend played a normal 4 string bass while John used the 8 string.
Great track, Tom, thanks for requesting it. Love Who Wednesday , they never fail to impress. Thanks L33 for your hard work of putting it altogether. A great 2025 to all.
love how Pete wrote a song about writer's block! for a lot of bedroom musicians or even more advanced and successful artists, the music comes easier---but you don't know what it's about or what it conveys. So you struggle with trying to write lyrics, hoping you have something to say!
Another great Who reaction, thanks! Trick of the Light and Guitar and Pen have grittier alternate versions and mixes but they're great tracks regardless.
I highly recommend Music Must Change & Love is Coming Down from this album, 2 songs that depart from typical Who songs but are both fantastic. You will probably notice, there is no drums in Music Must Change. Keith couldn't play the rhythm but his did the foot work (walking) you hear throughout the song.
This version of Trick of the Light seems to have an extended coda, compared to the original LP. You get at least 30 seconds more jamming at the end, so feel priviliged!
The Who had a variety of sounds in their bag of tricks... in part due to PT's restlessness and JE's virtuousity - at least that's my view as I've been listening to them for 50 years
The reason why you never heard this before, is FM radio plays nothing but the same 20 songs over and over and over . There was a time when FM radio played everything and anything off the album. So sad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lee, I really support you checking out all this great music & keeping it all alive, but you really got to stop rambling off the top of your head, you usually wind up saying really stupid shit that makes no sense & veer off into stuff you really don't know anything about. Whenever I hear someone having diarrhea of the mouth like that, 2 words always come to mind: incompetent boob. That's what incompetent boobs do, they run at the mouth while saying nothing at all. Don't feel you have to make deep statements about things. Your brain just seems to be trying to walk through a dark room. Perhaps it's the drummer mentality, I don't know, your focus just strikes me as weird. There, I said my piece. Do with it what you will. I do like your channel though.
That’s what happens when you cover a band weekly for a year. I’ve already said everything I probably ever could about the who. There’s only so much one person can say about the same band. I’m not some all knowing deity, I just go where the music takes me. Sometimes it goes with the music, sometimes the topic, sometimes nowhere. I’ve done over 2600 videos. There’s only so many words in the English language. And that’s just how i talk, I’m kind of all over the place. I appreciate the incompetent boob compliment, I’ll add that to the comment hall of shame next to “silent bob”
I honesty try to make each video as engaging and entertaining as possible but I can only work with what I’m given musically. If it doesn’t “strike the match” then it’s pretty much I talk about what I like and then call it a day. I don’t know what else to tell you. Maybe check out some other reaction channels and then get back to me 😂
There probably are some interesting channels covering all of these great bands… go explore! Im sure there is some very attractive female from some far away land listening to free bird for the first time.
What track from "Who Are You" should I check out next?? This was such a great duo of songs. Shows off two of their sides very well.
905 is a good one, and The Music Must Change.
every track should be reacted

All, but definately sister disco if not done already
New song, sister disco, 905
NOT TO BE TAKEN AWAY
I loved this album growing up. RIP Keith
Glad to have Who back.
Love the first. Draw a blank on the second.

He graciously gave up 905, the key song from a sci-fi rock opera he was writing. Not sure if Too Late the Hero was from that.
Also, would love to see what you think of a lesser known Who tune, "I've Known No War". Really like it as it gives a nod to previous Who song off of Quadrophenia, but a good Pete rumination on war.
'Sister Disco', 'Music Must Change', 'New Song'. 'The Who By Numbers' is a great underrated album too.
He went through all of 'Who By Numbers' a couple months ago, check it out.
Pete’s guitar playing is outstanding here
Pete is so underrated, people see the windmill and assume he is all flash, but if you listen to him play he is awesome .
Nice tunes .... glad to see Who Wednesday back

They both played bass?? Who played guitar??? That doesn't sound right.
@@deepermind4884Pete's brother
I heard these songs when I was younger, but I appreciate and enjoy them so much more at 71.

I love who wednesday ❤ happy to see it back!
Trick of the Lights main riff is actually John on Bass. He's got it tweeked out with very high end treble.....
I don’t care what RYM says, Who Are Youis the last truly great studio album
Agreed.
We had it made , and never realized it

❤❤ good point, guess you could ask Robert Lamm of Chicago 😂 immediately thought of that as I read your comment 👍
💕🎶💕
Can't wait for you to hear music must change
Two of my favorites from this. Thank you!
The guitar in the first track 😮 Pete is so great!
Another great Who reaction, thanks! Trick of the Light and Guitar and Pen have grittier alternate versions and mixes but they're great tracks regardless.
☮️❤️🎶
Guitar and Pen could well have ended up on Pete's Empty Glass; (which is a better album) Keith sounds stronger on that song as well. Nice upload.
I always thought it would have fit well with Who By Numbers, the singer/songwriter album.
This was their last great effort as a group. You're right. Losing Keith was the nail in the coffin. But, they had a hell of a run.

Two great tunes as far as I am concerned. Was it alright? Was it alright?
This album was never a favorite of mine. I enjoyed it this time❤
Rod Argent played keys on this album
Seasoned alright
The Who had a variety of sounds in their bag of tricks... in part due to PT's restlessness and JE's virtuousity - at least that's my view as I've been listening to them for 50 years
Lee…you should hit up Pete’s solo album Empty Glass after this. It’s really good!
🤘😎🤘
did not like this album when it 1st came out, sounds good now

@@L33Reacts Somebody called you "silent Bob"?? 🤔
Please, no Freebird. I grew up in Florida in the '70s & '80s 😖
@@L33Reacts Just keep doing your thing. You can't please everyone!
