There were more than a few people who wondered if Brian Johnson (or anyone really) could replace Bon Scott. Talk about announcing your presence with authoritahhh...
The Back in Black album is still in the top 5 of rock albums ever. This song is a memoriam to the deceased original singer Bon Scott. After he died they came back in black.
Angus’ sister made the outfit for him. He had tried other things, even dinosaur costume. His sister said, this is what you need. ☮️❤️🎼😎 BTW- ACDC is Australian.
It's because he's so short in stature that he thought he wouldn't be taken seriously. So, his sister told him you need a gimmick. She made him a school boy outfit like the official outfit he wore to the school/academy he attended. And the rest is history!
Both Angus and Malcolm were born in Scotland but moved to Australia when they were younger. That is not an English uniform but an Australian school uniform. AC/DC formed in 1973 with the original lead singer called Dave Evans. Then a few years later he was sacked and Bon Scott became there lead singer up to until his death and then Brian Johnson took over in 1980
I remember the day this album dropped. A group of us from school, the "Ecology Club" were on our way to a state park for a rock-climbing adventure. 10 of us teenagers were riding in the back of a covered pickup truck, and the guy whose father was driving us up there (the teacher who organized the club was riding shotgun, had just bought this cassette that morning. He put it on for us, and we ROCKED out for 90 minutes or so to this album that no one had ever heard before, because we knew AC/DC was a kick-ass band. What an AMAZING time to be alive!!!!
I'm so happy that you are introducing your son to some of the greatest music ever! I saw this tour when I was probably younger then him. And probably one of the top 3 shows that I've ever seen.
Angus idolised Chuck Berry. And got his duckwalk move from him. Angus also considers Jimmy Hendrix as next level. The song Let thete be Rock has a Chuck Berryesque guitar solo to pay homage to the blues influence on Rock and Roll.
Beat me to it! Seems I remember that Chuck Berry had multiple silly walks he'd do back and forth across the stage. The most famous was his duckwalk, which was walking in a crouched position. Another of them was basically Angus's signature leg kick.
Not sure where you heard he lost a bet, but Angus Young of AC/DC wears a schoolboy uniform on stage because his sister suggested it as a unique stage look when the band was starting out, essentially using his school uniform as a way to stand out and create a memorable visual identity; it's considered a part of his signature style and has stuck with him throughout his career.
Awwww love when the son comes on. Do him a favor and "bring him closer to the classics." Remember during this time, we all got along. It was the music that broke those barriers late 60s through the 9os. Music was open to all but a black people heard, " don't listen to that devil music." This music in this era helped us mentally get through stuff like child abuse. Yes it did. It's that many black teens would not break the rules, but I did and fl in love with rock and all other genres.
Such a classic song by one of the greatest bands ever. Seeing you and your son experience this 2 days before my Birthday when I go play board games with my Gf and her boy feels like a good omen for me.
AC/DC. Sound track to my youth, and this song in particular has special meaning. Couple of weeks ago, I sat by my phone waiting for tix on sale for their show in Vancouver, Canada. Wanted to take my two Boyz (23 and 15) n hubby for an epic night. Got in virtual line. Just 7G and change ahead of me. My turn. I waited. And waited. And waited. And ended up timing out. 😭 Sold out by the time I got back in, and resale tix upwards of $800+ each. So much for that Christmas gift... 😢 If they're in your area, GO! They put on an EPIC show!
AC/DC are from Australia!! They formed in Sydney, Australia, in roughly 1973 and started playing gigs in the Australian pub rock scene, which heavily influenced their sound and identity. While it's true that some members, like Malcolm, Angus and Bon Scott were born in Scotland, the band's formation and rise to fame are deeply rooted in Australia. Most Anglo-Saxon that live in various countries trace their heritage back to the UK or other parts of Europe, so the argument that AC/DC members are “not really Australian” because some were born in Scotland or England could apply to a huge portion of Australians with similar ancestry. It’s a bit of a tiring when people harp on about it in AC/DC’s case. I wasn’t born in Australia but I was brought up here from very young and live here, so I am Australian!
The Young brothers chose the title Back in Black as a sign of mourning for Scott, and to send him off with a powerful performance. Lyrics The song's lyrics celebrate the band's return and resilience, while also capturing a sense of mourning. 57 year old Canadian rocker lady, don't know who you are but liked what you had to say and love that you're teaching your son different genres of music! Please show him one of my very favourite bands RUSH many many awesome songs but Limelight is a particular favourite!
Angus and Malcom Young. They're brothers playing the guitars and they both just ROCK with such power and authority through what many may consider to be very simplistic musically speaking.
Love you guys and your appreciation for different genres of music!! Nothing better than listening to these bands back in the day around a tire fire in the gravel pits LoL
My whole career started with THIS song and a $100 amp/guutar. I was 18, started a cover band and played to 13 million live in 4 countries, opening for Cool & The Gang, Donna Summer, The Beach Boys, Kenny Loggins, America …all from THIS song!
I was crushed when Bon died. Been a AC/DC stan for decades. Yeah, Im old. They're my Special Ones. 🤘Only got to see them live 3x, in 3 different decades. Love that band. Rip Mal. 🙏
When AC/DC first started, everyone in the band was supposed to have their own costume. Angus' original costume was a knock-off of Superman. They decided that it didn't work, so Angus decided to wear his school boy outfit to the next gig and the rest is history. There was just something about the wholesomeness and the innocence of that costume contrasted with the hard rock and roll. Brilliant.
Angus as an Australian school boy would go directly from school to practice with the band without changing , then same again going to a gig. It became his flag to wave while playing and still is.
For my 18th birthday in 1977, my aunt got me tickets to see Aerosmith, my favorite band. But then Angus came across the stage, AC/DC opened for Aerosmith. Lets just say I was in shock. AC/DC has been my favorite since then by far. They always rock the F**K out!!!
You need to show Baby Duke the AC/DC video of Thunderstruck live at River Plate. The number of fans there was UNBELIEVABLE!! Reminded me of the crowd at the Monster's of Rock concert in Moscow in 1991..1.6 million when they stopped counting. AC/DC, Metallica and Pandora were there!!! EPIC!! 🎵🎼🎶🎸🎤🎙🎧🎹🥁🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘
When I graduated boot camp, my chief RDC put Thunderstruck on over the speaker, and my shipmates and I formed a giant circle in the middle of the division (the assigned room for our squadron). AC/DC was always on in my house growing up. You should check out some more, like "Highway to Hell", "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap", "Fly on the Wall", as well as "Thunderstruck"!
When it comes to AC/DC vocalists, my preference is for Bon Scott (RIP), but IMVHO "Back In Black" is THE BEST song of the Brian Johnson era. And it is the first song from the first album he appears on.
First saw AC/DC when they played at my High School in 1975. The first time I heard this song was my Driving instructor played it as we drove through the mountains.
AC DC is an Australian band not English. Angus got the school uniform because before the band was called a DC they were the valentine's and Angus use to call in after school ( in uniform) . One he jump in and put there guitar player to shame so there manager put him in the band and told to keep the uniform and called them across acdc because Angus felt electric. The drummer Phil rudd is my cousin
I will never bully anyone for wearing a metal/rock t-shirt.... But if they don't know the band I will give them a lesson about it then and there! LOL I have seen them live twice. What a blast!
Krizz, you're spot on about the UK and Australian bands being influenced by American Blues, Rock & Roll, and Soul out of Memphis on Stax, as well as R&B on Motown. Angus is very much influenced by Chuck Berry.

AC/DC was originally all Australians but when the singer Bon Scott died (officially of alcohol poisoning) he was replaced by Brian Johnson, who was from the UK (and sings on this song and all the songs since). After the Back in Black album (which was and still is huge) the more recent hit Thunderstruck is probably their best known song and if your have not reacted to it you should.
Angus does the 'duck walk' that he got from Chuck Berry. And yes, alot of UK and ACDC (Australia) have a lot of blues influence. Another band that relies heavily on blues is Led Zeppelin.
Actually I believe the story goes that angus would come right home from school and wouldn’t even change out of his school uniform before grabbing his guitar. His sister Margaret told him to wear the suit on stage. And yes. He loves Chuck Berry. His version of the duck walk is a tribute to Mr Berry.
AC/DC is an Aussie band. 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺 Whilst members came from Scotland and England, they immigrated here, just as my family did generations ago. Doesn’t make them less Australian. RIP to Malcolm Young, the guy with the large guitar 🎸 Angus is wearing a Sydney school boy uniform, from Ashfield Boys High School, I believe. Great music from them, written by Brian Johnson, lead singer, Malcolm and Angus Young. The older brother of the Young boys was in one of the bands from the 1960’s, called Easybeats. His name was George Young. George was a great songwriter as well, and Easybeats forged a new era in Oz music, writing their own songs, firstly with Little Stevie Wright (lead singer of the Easybeats) and then with Harry Vanda. Not only did they write songs for themselves, they wrote songs for others including Stevie when he was solo, John Paul Young, their own band Flash and the Pan. The duo also produced music for AC/DC and Rose Tattoo (aka the Tatts), as well as others too. A classic is Evie Parts I II and III, by Stevie Wright. It is a three part trilogy of a story of boy meets girl, the surprise of falling pregnant, and lastly loss of the mother during childbirth. Just listen to the anguish Stevie portrays in the final verse. Magnificent. Oh by the way, if you like movies, and the Lost Boys, an Easybeats cover is on the soundtrack, sung my my favourite artist, Jimmy Barnes (who is heard singing 3 times in the movie) and INXS (pronounced In Excess because ie the word IN and then separate sound X and then S). The song is called Good Times.
This band among Dokken, Styx, Led Zepplin, Foreigner, Journey, Scorpions, Judas Priest are some of the bands I listened to as a young person. Crazy Train is Ozzy Ozborne after he went solo.
@grahamhandsworth49 Google is your friend... "where are ACDC from, AC/DC were formed by Glasgow-born brothers, Angus and Malcolm Young, with another Scotsman - lead singer Bon Scott - performing with the band until his death in 1980. Brian Johnson is from Newcastle England... I rest my case
Everybody has this album in their record collection along with every other album of theirs in their record collection. There are no bad AC/DC songs. There are just AC/DC songs that get you into a great mood. Try the song "Ride On, nice and slow blues with teeth."
Angus initially dressed up as a gorilla lol then landed on the school boy uniform as his sister said he needed a gimmick and she made him the school boy uniform and man did it work!
Angus wear a Ashfield Boys High School uniform Which is in Sydney. AC/DC started in Sydney. It was his sister who said he should wear it. Nothing to do with a bet. It was also his sister who named the band.
What's up krizz, I subscribed to your channel, man I wanna say it's cool and awesome you showing a couple back generations the music we grew up to in the 80s, heck even the 70s cause like you I think a lot of younger cats missed out a whole bunch on several things, the next us not even having a computer. 1st time I remember seeing a Apple computer basically looking like a big square box was at elementary school in the early 80s it's crazy how times changed ....💯
Not Baby Cube Jr yawning thru Pop's accolades?! What? Do you KNOW who he is?! 😂 nah, just playin. I LOVE seeing the greatness being passed down, this was cool.
A lot of them were born in the UK, but grew up in Australia. The rest are Aussies. Yes - it's absolutely taking the Chuck Berry style of rock and roll, and carrying on from there. Chuck Berry is who I always compare them to - he was clearly the foundational influence of these guys, even to how they kept such simplicity in their music through the years.
The thing with the bands of today is that they'll never have a fan following like the bands of this generation which is why bands like AC/DC, Metallica, The Rolling Stones, etc.... can sell out arenas even today. Before the internet and streaming age, people actually had to invest their actual time in the bands they liked. People went, stood and waited hours or even days for their favorite band's new album to come out. It's kind of sad that people of this day and age will never know what it was like back in those days of music. Not to make this to long but u should react to their song "Hells Bells", Trevor Hoffman who used to be the closer for the Padres used this as an entrance song and it's one of the most epic entrances for a player to come out to. When people heard the bells tolling, they knew it was lights out/game over.
all time classic! BTW - there is some great new hard rock out in the world right now! Should check Band Maid sometime! They're fans & friends with The Warning
Angus Young loves Chuck Berry, I believe he is on record as saying that Chuck Berry was always his number one rock guitar hero growing up.
AC/DC is Australian Rock. Founded in Sydney in '73. This album was released in '80, it's the first album after Bon Scott died of Alcohol poisoning.
I thought he threw up in the back of his car and choked on it when he was drunk. Either way, need to listen to a Bon Scott song also.
Yes Aussie Rock founded in the UK, Young brothers from Glasgow Scotland, Brian from Newcastle UK and Bonn Scott from Forfar Scotland
There were more than a few people who wondered if Brian Johnson (or anyone really) could replace Bon Scott. Talk about announcing your presence with authoritahhh...
Angus, Malcolm & Bon Scott were Scottish and Brian Johnson from the North East of England
❤❤💯
The Back in Black album is still in the top 5 of rock albums ever. This song is a memoriam to the deceased original singer Bon Scott. After he died they came back in black.
Absolutely
Angus’ sister made the outfit for him. He had tried other things, even dinosaur costume. His sister said, this is what you need. ☮️❤️🎼😎

That uniform Angus wears is from a Sydney school. He would still be wearing it when he practised after school. My ex knew him at school.

I saw AC/DC 7 times. They sounded just like this. They’re ROCK GODS!🙌🏻

Back in the late 80s and early 90s when I was in high school the individuals that wore band tshirts that didn't know their music were called, Posers.
What a great observation. The resemblance to Chuck Berry movements and playing style.
AC/DC is an awesome group, they appeal to every generation and their music will be around for a very long time. Definitely stood the test of time.

AC/DC is the best pure rock band of all time.

It's in my top 5 favorite songs , I love watching reactions especially to this video. ☮️💜🤘🔥 School outfit from Australia.

It was awesome being 10 years old and this being your favorite new song on the radio. I remember 1980 and 1981 very well.
🌸 little Chris-- in defense of your dad, everyone watching this video is boppin' their head, too 😊
you should of done a recent version in concert of this right afterwards.. so your son could see they are still rockin the same as they was in 1980..
They lived 10km from where I live, they are legends in Oz! I still have my scrapbook from school in 1975.

And Aussie bands took influences from both America and England…. So you are right on the money with that.
This band among Dokken, Styx, Led Zepplin, Foreigner, Journey, Scorpions, Judas Priest are some of the bands I listened to as a young person. Crazy Train is Ozzy Ozborne after he went solo.
It was giving flowers to Chuck Berry... from the start :-)
Great Job!
They are from Australia.
Born in Scotland
They were all born in England and Scotland, Australia no
@@barr790 raised in Dapto Australia. THEY ARE NOT BRITISH
@@barr790 ask ACDC what they are. They sure as hell wont say they are British.
AC/DC are from *Australia*, but yes... most of your analysis is correct.
The quintessential rock band ever .. show your boy. For those about to rock, maybe some Bon Scott ACDC
You have a good kid when he is hanging with the old man, trying out some new (to him) music.
Everybody has this album in their record collection along with every other album of theirs in their record collection. There are no bad AC/DC songs. There are just AC/DC songs that get you into a great mood. Try the song "Ride On, nice and slow blues with teeth."
Hey krizz junior good to see you guys loving this classic ✌️✌️
Yes!! Classic rock for your son!!!🙌🙌
This is the biggest selling rock album of all time!!!
Crazy Train was Ozzy, but same time era!
Angus initially dressed up as a gorilla lol then landed on the school boy uniform as his sister said he needed a gimmick and she made him the school boy uniform and man did it work!
Influenced by blues
Angus wear a Ashfield Boys High School uniform Which is in Sydney. AC/DC started in Sydney. It was his sister who said he should wear it. Nothing to do with a bet. It was also his sister who named the band.
And It's iconic! I can't even imagine how much it would go for if they auctioned it off!! 🤯🤯🤯
You are right. Angus said he loved Chuck Berry and he clipped his moves
I've got my ticket for Dallas 2025! My daughters are taking me as a birthday gift. BEST.CHILDREN.EVER! Bucket list event for me and my favorite band.
The album is dedicated to Bon Scott which is short for bonnie Scotland where he originally hails from.
Still miss Bon Scott. Original and best.
My first 8 track with my new stereo for xmas back in the day. My mom would yell turn that sh_t down lol.
From Australia
all time classic! BTW - there is some great new hard rock out in the world right now!
Should check Band Maid sometime! They're fans & friends with The Warning
