ZigTalk: Is the Honda CBR250R still relevant?

After a brief hiatus from the Indian market, Honda reintroduced the CBR250R in its BS IV guise at Auto Expo 2018. But barring complying to new emissions norms and sporting an LED headlight, nothing has changed. So in a market now almost rife with more focused, higher performance machines in similar price brackets, does Honda's quarter-litre cracker still hold up? We discuss why the CBR250 still might make some sense.

@1.63 lacs ex-showroom it is still THE most powerful sports bike at its price.
And its versatility is second to none.
    Commuting: check
    Touring: check
    Corner carving: check
    Reliability: check
    Refinement: check
    Pillion comfort: check
    Brand: check
    Legacy: check
No other sport bike under 2 lac can claim that.
Am glad that: THE LEGEND IS BACK☺

Hi Guys, Joining you in ongoing chat! I have read couple of views about CBR and it's other rivals. I would happy to tell you, recently I have bought CBR 250R ABS 2018 version. After riding 1500km I would just say, still there is no other bike is available in the market to meet the overall ergonomics of CBR. I wanted to buy 400cc segment bike with in 3lac price point. I have tested so many bikes available in indian market. But after experiencing all the bikes I got the right and most suitable option for me is CBR. Truly saying, day to day traffic and performance on highway of the bike is unmatchable... Thumbs up to Honda...

This is the 1st channel which found cbr250r relevant even today rest all were criyng for vfm and outdatedness of cbr250r . Im booking my cbr250 r asap coz it fulfills my requirements and since i own a cbr150 r for 5 years now without any breakdown issues not even a "single self start failure" , which is great for peace of mind ,regarding maintenance i dont want to live with a bike with daily niggles. so any day i m open to a cbr250 r.

Been a honda lover my whole life and do a own a cbr250r...Bought it back in 2014 and have clocked over 80k kms on it...What i have to say is even though its quite outdated in the current market no other brands can compare the reliablity with the cbr250r...I mean for athe argument sake I mostly do 4k to 6k kms every 3 4 months on my cbr250r...For a continuous road trip from Kerala to Mumbai and back say i do around 5.5k kms...The only thing I have to do is tight my chain and change my engine oil...Like that you can do it by urself too..Simple as that...Never had any major issue or mechanical issue with this bike yet..Yes its a little less powered and the latest 2018 cbr250r could have come up with a revised engine specs maybe..A little amount of torque and maybe a fully digitalised cluster and extra riding modes..The things we hoped it should have..And maybe a change in tyres from those god forsaken metro contigo brands..I mean the Apache RR310 comes with Michelin pilot street radial as stock tyres..The best sey of tyres for the touring purpose...Honda India should consider these facts...Having an led headlight was not a big move thou...But the nee color scheme seems better than before for a start...But when the market is rapidily getting exposed to much more brands in thr same segment Honda India should think about doing some mechanical changes too since they dont plan to bring the cbr300r into the market...For a start change the name to vfr250r for a change...CBR250R is a direct descended of VFR1200F and it doesnt even look like any other cbr600rr or the cbr1000rr..So maybe a change in name with major mechanical changes could be a game changer...Start focusing the youths than the older people and stop making all those 3g 4g 5g activas plsss...I mean scooters for real...Honda India has most of the scooter brands and what more you need...Keep the scooters aside and focus on providing more...Take hold of thr market..

In initial 5 minutes i thought you people even do not know what is the meaning of relevant and review. But after 5 minutes my thought process and your thought process got match. Cbr250 is the best bike in every aspect even in 2018. Either you talk about mileage maintainance, high quality, rider comfort, pillion comfort, city ride, touring all day, sitting posture, availability of spare parts, looks, top speed also is not far fron other 300 cc, only 10km/h difference except ninja which touches 190.

It still stands out though its old by design aspects. I have not seen any other refined and practical machine(also considering pillon comfort)as on date though there are machines with better mechanics targeted only keeping the rider in mind.

Boss practicality is what is to be encountered everyday. And not those high performance thrilling speed numbers {which of course put your life into risk}. Driving a 2 wheeler on road meaning exposing yourself with the highest risks, along with those high speed multiplies them. So cbr250 is still an intelligent choice. Rather than those high torque :nm:etc numbers which the only avaiable attractions with others.

  • @madfly8082

Very well articulated, guys! I'm one of the guys who'll has been going nuts over Honda not introducing the latest and greatest twin cylinder, gizmo loaded bike in India over the last 4 years. As you rightly put it, it probably doesn't make sense for Honda to bring that bike to India, considering the cost and when our infrastructure on offer doesn't warrant such performance. Trust Honda not to bring a compromised product to our country just to cut costs. If you look at the package as a whole, the new CBR250R is something that will work for everyone. Like you put it, it's one for the head and not for the heart, just like the Toyotas.

Honda doesn't do that our local stores do that..
Company sells the bike as a whole..
The store takes some things apart and sells it separately to make more money..
Honda is a good and reliable company. Dont say just any thing just because your local store owner took money from you..
I bought many vehicles from honda and didn't pay any extra for accessories..
They come with the bike and i paid for the bike..
And i know the store owner, so they dont scam me for money.😁

Thanks Gents, just got a 2011 Repsol version. Not the newest nor the fastest but fitted my modest budget. It is also a Honda, bulletproof, lots of cheap parts and I'll probably sell it for the same price I bought it in Australia in a few years time. What is not to love? PS love the baby vFR looks

You guys chose a very good topic...and i agree its still relevant but only if you choose non abs version....and frankly speaking its a proven motorcycle the only honda could have done is to make some relevant asthetic changes

Why do you say non abs version? Abs more safer right?

i was expecting karthik to be in this video.. whole thing made sense when u compared z900 with honda cbr 650 .. here is what I have to say
    1) Honda needs to low down the price on ABS model..
    2) New colors are good for the first time cbr is making sense .. **as per me
    3) Bajaj dominar is killing in this segment .. so to spend that extra cash on a lesser capacity bikes ... raises a lot of eyebrows
    4) All and all for the price .. that something extra is missing which will make it relevant
    p.s - When will Honda launch Active 6G ? 😂😂

I'm here at Nov 2019 wishing to upgrade to cbr 250r from fz25... I'm not looking for power but for peace of mind in ownership.. My only gripe is the contigo tyres and age old console.... If honda update it with bs6 engine and better console and tyres definitely I'm buying, not only me there are more bikers for the gem

A bike that is super refined, can cruise at 120 kmph, has cheap maintenance cost, is super reliable, will last 200K kms if maintained well... And looks nice
    ....Totally worth the price.
P.S: the yellow one would look dope if the rims are painted a glossy gold :)

Should I buy CBR 250 or Duke 250, my requirement is owning touring bike in the 2lac slab, also kind off future proof, at-least for net 3years.
