I have one in my 2000 Monte Carlo SS. I enjoy it. Now we need GM to bring back the MC. BTW, rear wheel drive this time.
RWD would mean horrible in the snow. However, a lot better on the racing aspect. FWD tend to slip and give other racers the advantage. In closing, would be interesting to see GM take this move. I concur with you though. I'd like for them to bring it back with better MODS and bring back the Pontiac GTO!

ImperialDoor true. But Chevy made a mistake by changing the Monte Carlo to FWD from RWD.
@ImperialDoor Right, because there were never any Monte Carlos in NASCAR...Oh wait minute there was. So What kind of logic is that to say Monte Carlos aren't a racecar? I think you should Google the definition of a "racecar", see what it says.
Just an all around great car. Make sure if that intake rubber stripping breaks, order the hood weather strip from the dealer or etc, and line it with that; because the K&N rubber stripping kind of sucks. lol Other than that, the K&N CAI is a great mod for this 5.3 beast! demariojason approves of the upload....

I would check the car fax that seems a little low but if everything checks out that would be a pretty sweet deal they are great cars. People tend to have some transmission problems with these cars so I would keep that in mind. I made sure to get a warranty with my car.
I got a 2 owner 02 ss for sale for $3800...
I did this to my 2003 Monte. It is great. Sensor for code p102 engine light will stay on. No biggie. The intake is much better and a deep ummmp when I step on it. It sounds louder and better.

@@bruhmoment686 mine is not an ss. Same thing for the SS is eliminate the box filter intake crap. Run a tube /flex hose to your own filter. K and .N makes cold air intake kits but why waste 100 bucks or so , it's only few bucks for the hose and filter is 20 bucks or so. Do your own cold air intake. Check TH-cam for many do it yourself cold air intake. Save you few bucks too . Bette sound more air colder air makes deep ummmmp you will notice under hood louder deep when you have cold air intake. I used dryer exsaust flex hose cheap alluminun it bends a bit and added a blue k and N cone filter at end of it. It is right up front behind headlight now.
nice! My other car is an 06 GMC Yukon SLT. Look up the strut tower brace kit for your car. I installed one in the rear and the front. Really stiffened up the car. He makes brackets that bolt to the strut towers using the existing bolts. Also the font bar is modified to clear the alternator.

I noticed that when you revved it didn't get limited, when I try to rev mine it just goes to like 4k rpm. Is there a way past it, should i try neutral or something?

Didn't see where you mentioned this or not, but what air filter were you using before the CAI? K&N drop in, paper, or something else?
Considering that the stock intake system on the 5.3 SS is the same as the 3.5 v-6 it's very restrictive.
It was restrictive. I noticed an immediate difference with the new K&N
your intake manifold is where the restriction is. I got rid of my K&N because my IATs were skyhigh with it and went with something enclosed.

No, you do not need to replace the mufflers as well.
Which muffler do you recommend because I'm looking for the same sound ....I have a v8 ...and one of my mufflers need to be replace .... And I can't find found the perfect muffler please contact Respond ... Should I get 44 or 40 series
Vonah H I went with a 40 series. since then I've also got a downpipe and took out the resonator.

As of this video I have flowmaster 40s and a K&N cold air intake. Now I also have a resonator delete and a ZZP downpipe.
How much did the cold air intake cost and The mufflers?
The cold air intake wast $285 and the mufflers were about $83 each on amazon or 90 -100 each at an auto parts store.

Go get a Triple Edge Performance street/strip tranny! I got mine 3 yrs ago for my 06' Impala SS and its insane how much better/funner to drive this car now! 2ND gear rubber....YES!!!!

It's a big car so there is plenty of space inside. It may just be the angle of the camera that made it look that way.

I got a 06 imp SS. Same engine. I got super 44 flowmasters. They have 10s that will fit and are a bit more aggressive. U can also remove the resonator and that will give it a growl also.

I mite be only one okay with FWD. I can drive it year round in Michigan. And I’m still blowing out 99% on the road

The tranny in these montes are the same as whats in mine. The non refurbished bodystyle like my 2004 supercharged l67. Tbh the V8's sound nice but I'd rather take the supercharged V6

As of this video just a Cold air intake and the Flowmaster 40s. Now I have a Diablew tune, resonator delete and a ZZP downpipe. I will be doing an updated video soon.

AJ Carlo Yea man it sucks I'm using my project car while it's in the shop lol. I'm getting it built up with a tranny cooler, shift kit, and some other things so I have better luck next time.
