I’ve just recently learned about using graphite powder and it’s a game changer. Doing some trial and error to see how to get the right finish. This video was helpful!
Wow with the gloss liquitex surfacer the graphite just works like magic! I think you should use gloss black enamel paint to achieve similar results to the liquitex.
how do you seal the graphite in. i know graphite will rubb off on every thing if its not sealed. what do you use to seal it and will sealing it in with a clear mess up the chrome effect?
Hi there! Saw your video on FB, so came across and checked it out! What awesome results! I've been trying to create a high shine chrome effect for a project, and think you've just provided me with the answer! Thank you!
@@mechsandmonsters I just watched this video again, and I have a couple of questions... 1. You used a specific black / white primer, gloss and graphite powder in the video... Would you get similar results with alternative products? (Such as Vallejo white primer / gloss varnish)? 2. How stable is the finish once you have completed it? Can you touch the chrome finish, or will it shed a residue? 3. How could you fix the finish to make it more durable? If you could answer these in a follow up video, it would be really appreciated!! Thanks! Subscribed! Regards, Richard.
Is that transition g.i. Joe or he-Man? Anyways my real question is do you have to use everything that you're using to achieve a chrome mirror finish, like are there other ways to do it?
Great video, as a newbie, I much prefer "real time" videos, as the speeded up ones don't show me the technique or time needed correctly. The muzak in the background does my head in though, I'd much rather just listen to the artist, but as it is I have to mute and read the CC subtitles 😢
You can also use graphite paint, the electroplate the plastic because of the conductivity of the graphite. Her is the link to the video where I learned how to do it. Very nice job on your project. Marcus th-cam.com/video/TlD9USAhcEs/w-d-xo.html
What tutorials would you like to see? What models would you like to see me build?
Dont forget to add me to your instagram, Facebook and TikTok
an example of different kind of topcoats & how they effect the powder after buffing
Great video!
Can you clearcoat it without loosing the chrome effect?
Cheers
Appreciate your technique and the comparison!!

th-cam.com/video/TlD9USAhcEs/w-d-xo.html This is another way to finish to bright chrome. I just learned it today, and so far it works great. Marcus
Is graphite powder durable, and able to be handled afterwards? And what effect does a clear topcoat have on it?
cheers ! subbed
But it goes dark when you try to seal

What on earth is gloss medium? Do you mean gloss gray? Thanks for sharing.
I am a professional modeler set designer and prop maker. Very well done
Thanks Cary, Appreciate the compliment. :)
Have you ever put graphite over say a red candy paint or a different color other than black or white?
I havent mate, but it would be interesting to see
Can you seal it with anything?
On my last project, back to the Future themed Mario Kart statue, i used this same technique and sealed it with Vallejo gloss varnish.
