When buying golf balls we often consider lots of different options... what is the longest golf ball? which golf ball goes the furthest? what is the best golf ball? what golf ball gets the most backspin? what is the cheapest golf ball? what is the best budget golf ball? which golf ball should I use? which golf ball should you use? what is the best golf ball for mid handicap golfers? what is the best golf ball for high handicap golfers? in this video I play golf with the best selling golf ball of all time for mid/high handicaps, is it the Taylormade golf ball? I'm subscribed to Shiels, Big Al, Finchy, Michael Newton, Alistair and a few other Yanks but have hardly watched any in ages. I'm still watching your offering everyday James so it don't bother me if anyone else has done a review on the P790 irons or the AD333 ball. Simple solution for the rest of the people is just watch James!

I’ve been playing the Srixon AD333 for the last couple of years as a 10 handicap. I’ve loved the distance off the tee. Responsiveness with wedge shots and feel off the putter.
I’ve also played the Vice Pro ball which is an excellent ball for the price.

High handicapper here. I fell in love with the Srixon Ultisoft this year (might be re-branded Soft Feel?). They cost 32.90€ (I'd guess that would mean around 25-27£ in UK) for 24 balls, are quite soft and despite them being targeted towards lower club head speeds I didn't lose that much distance either.
I have liked the triple threes that I've found and played (and lost) too.

Used the AD333 for quite a few years now, does everything I need. Currently trying Srixon Marathon Soft as I was given 2 dozen, IMO almost as good of a ball probably ½ a step back but cheaper. Ideal as a winter ball for AD333 users.

I have used the AD333 and even more the AD333 Tour quite a lot. I am currently a +1 handicap golfer and while I do find that I sacrifice a little performance between the AD333 and my normal gamer which is the ZStar XV, even as a low handicap golfer, I do not see a massive difference in my scoring when playing what is considered a second tier ball.
I think a lot of weekend golfers think of themselves as far better than they really are. None of us including even scratch handicappers are actually good enough to really see a massive difference. And the flipside is that as a +1 or scratch I also have sufficient ability to make the ball work and adjust my chipping enough to allow for slightly more run out or a slightly higher ball flight off my irons.

A sleeve lasts me at least 12 games. Feel and softness are similar but the diff is the better stopping power in the short game with the Q star.

ADTriple3, I have these plus lots of others as in my last two rounds I have found over 30 golf balls, half gone into the practice bag. Srixon seem to be a popular ball getting lost on my local course, maybe they are recommended by the pro shops aimed at mid to high handicappers
I tend to pick either the newest looking ball in my bag or the ball from my last round if it went well to play with. Try not to tempt fate and the woods with a new ball on the first

I played the AD333 recently and really liked it. My only issue was I managed to keep one for 10 holes and at the end it felt like a curled-up hedgehog. I’ve recently got a load of Slazenger v300 and can’t feel any difference between the 2 balls or see any difference in performance. Distance, flight, touch around the greens, all feel the same.
That would be a ball worth reviewing. £20 for 48! V300 (not the rock that is the V100!!!!)

  • @johngriffiths8033

High handicapper, I've tried many balls but keep coming back to the Ad 333.
    Although...
Due to your previous vid I have bought a dozen Callaway CRX Control balls at 15 quid. Very similar performance off the tee and around the greens, but would say the Srixon just edges it as ( imo) they check up a bit better than the Callaways.

Srixon AD triple three. I use them almost exclusively and my club sells them for GBP 27 for 24 balls, including my 10% member discount. So 30 quid for non-members. Also available online at that price, but they are last years model.

New golfer here (if I had a handicap it would be like 40) and I've been using AD333's since I started earlier this month due to the cheap price... Even went as far as buying 100x A grade 2nd hand balls when I realised it was cheaper to lose them lol still have heaps which are my practice balls for the park now that I'm not losing heaps on course. Only downside to them is they scuff up very quickly, but that's not an issue for me.

  • @carlosrandolez
    @carlosrandolez 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi James, still loving your content. I live in Spain now and only have three courses within an hour from me, balls sold in the golf clubs I play are extortionate prices on premium balls, they don’t stock the cheaper manufacturers balls including srixon, I was a 3 handicap back in the day in the us and played titleist pro v’s or callaway hex, back then….. Now play off 8 and I play Wilson dx2’s and an even cheaper ball (don’t laugh), sports directs Slazenger v300soft, the Wilson I find is quality, where as the slazenger, I play on one of the courses where one can lose half a dozen in a round if the game isn’t on that day.
A review on these balls would be great if you can bring yourself to go into sports direct, lol……
All the best James, keep up the good work..

My only issue with the AD333 is they scuff up quick and I find that’s when I lose them. Seems to take a flight in to long rough never to be seen again. However fresh and clean out the box perform really good. I’ve moved to the Srixon distance and I don’t lose them no where near as often as they don’t scuff up as bad. Much harder ball however.

Is there an echo in here? I’m sure I watched this video yesterday? 😂
I played this ball for years (back when I lived in the UK) before progressing to the Srixon ZURS, which was the precursor to the Z Star. This was back in the early 2000s. A great performing ball at a very very reasonable price.
In fairness to Srixon they’ve been putting out excellent products (balls and clubs) for over twenty years now. So underrated, especially over here in North America. But they’re finally getting the recognition they deserve. 👏

From what I can gather on the web, SeRM is a urethane compound. So you've got an inexpensive ionomer two-piece ball with juuuuust enough urethane sprayed on it to give it some zip. For a few holes anyway. They don't put that coating on the Soft Feel. I guess it would make it too "expensive", but that would be great.
The AD333 did really well in Today's Golfer's ball test a couple of years back. Not the longest, but more than respectable for average speed swings. But that Spinskin coating is the real deal. Wedge spin was higher than a bunch of urethane tour balls.

16 hcp, AD 3 3 3 (pronounced that way, not triple), for cooler days, soft feel for warmer days, though I have also started using Srixon Ultisoft and believe it comparable to Callaway supersoft when I'm "going for the win". I'm a high handicap, I play lot different golf balls. Personally I really like vice pro soft, they seem to fly the best for my swing. (When I swing correctly). Someone said in the states these are the Q-Stars, but do they ad333 say tour on them like the q-stars?

I use TP5, but I use A grade reclaimed balls that aren’t scuffed or messy, for about £25 a dozen.

VERY high handicaper here. Just switched from Wilson DUO soft to the Titleist Trufeel. Never tried this Srixon. They are the same price here. 45 euro for 2 boxes off 12.
I buy the as lakeball for 90 cent / 1 euro each. BTW. I choose for the titleist trufeel for the feel on the irons. I have a low swingspeed (70 mph) so I need low compression

Maybe this is a dumb question, but, does it really matter what ball you play if you’re not paying the mortgage with winnings/sponsorships? I played a Top Flite for years. Did fine. I switched to the Srixon Soft Feel awhile back simply because i got tired of aching wrists from the Top Flite. Maybe I answered my original question there…? Anyway, I played the QStar and they’re nice but my game wasn’t really able to take full advantage of what that ball says it offers. Out of all the golf equipment available, golf balls seem the most complicated.

I played them for a while and they were good. I think you should try the HOMNA TWS as well as they are a nice ball and maybe vlog it James

There's only so much *new* golf stuff that youtubers can review. It takes time to script, film, and edit... people claiming X stole from Y, or Y steals from Z... new stuff comes out, content embargo (can't release your article until X date)...
If James has been working on on this, and Rick just released it... makes sense James to release it as well. Think petro/gas stations on all corners on an intersection. Another view, another choice. TH-cam algo will probably link them together...
Try and just enjoy the content...

I love that ball not too many people here play it So if I find one at the course I play out of good chance it was mine. I stock up on the when they go on sale. Not sure why they are not popular at least in the part of Canada where I live.

Would love to see video James you and a few others fellow pro and mid Handicappers. Playing unmarked Balls from premium to Budget lets see how brave the big boys are!! 75% of golfers couldn't tell the difference from a £45 a Dozen to lest say these Srixons.

I'm getting back into golf after 6 years away I'm getting a full set of Majek hybrids and will be using srixon soft feel. If you can try the majek golf clubs it would be helpful. By the way I really enjoy your channel.

They go a long ways those AD333 balls. Bit of a high flight for me. I've just made the switch this year from the ZStar xv to the Bridgestone BXS. Subtle differences but great results. BXS feels great to putt and spin a bit more off the irons which gives me bit more control into the greens. Callaway Supersoft for my "winter" ball if it's cold and greens are soft.
