Great video. I’m happy your dad said, “It comes down to price for me.” Exactly what manufacturers need to hear. Any full set over $600 is too much. The greed in this sport is infuriating.
He's right clubs are way too expensive and the only reason I'm still using the set I started with (Mp30s) which cost me £450 new in 3-pw. I would love a new set of mizuno 243s in 3-pw but I'd be looking at £1800 to buy them nowadays. Manufacturers are way too greedy imo and i can only see them getting more expensive unfortunately.
True, I’ve been playing for 20 years and finally got to buy a full set of fitted clubs this year. In the past I’d buy what was cheap and learn to hit them.
@@Alan-75MP 30s released in 2003. €450 in 2003 is equivalent to €1100 in today’s money. You still paid a good amount for your irons back in the day. You can get a brand new set of MP 241s for €1500 right now, or JPX923’s for less than that. Maybe slightly more expensive, but it’s not like golf equipment has gone up higher than anything else.
@@NewNineGolf you probably could have reshafted the G 5 s and got the same results. I restarted mine from steel to mamiya graphite and what a difference.
Hi I am very dyslexic I restarted mine from steel to marijuana graphite and WHAT A DIFFERENCE thank you for the tip never enjoyed golf so much in the last 80 years ❤
I'm sure glad I somehow landed here. My Dad was the one who got me into the game!! I lost Dad last May and in Sept while playing an event at Arcadia Bluffs I stepped onto the box on Dads favorite hole he always talked about. It's a stunner 171 carry over a deep gorge Lake Michigan looming and a beautiful evening I put Dads initials on the ball with a Sharpie and with roughly 20 guys standing around the green I hit a beautiful 7 iron big high baby draw the ball hit the green and I turned towards the cart to hear everyone erupt it went in!! My one and only ace and I hope i never get another!! I miss that guy and this video brought me pure joy. Enjoy your time my friend I hope you have a bunch!!!! Good stuff
@thomasbrady63 it was pretty special and I get the goosebumps thinking about it. I was sure glad it was witnessed by so many people until I got to the clubhouse and found out you have to buy a drink for everyone who saw it??? Arcadia Bluffs drinks are not cheap and I believe that hole in one cost me a couple hundred bucks but I would have paid 100k as it's my only Ace and it sounds weird but I hope I never get another!!! I want that to remain as special as it was
@NewNineGolf thanks man and it was bizarre as iam a 10hdcp and play a ton of golf and have come within inches many times but that's the first one that ever dropped !!Thank you PING for those I200's
This is my favorite video I’ve seen of an iron fitting and I’ve seen a lot of them! Great job! In reality your Dad is the perfect person to test equipment. His game resembles the lion’s share of players at the local courses.
Your other fitting video with your friend was great. But this video with your Dad is by far one of my favorite videos of all time! Would love to see a video fitting him for a new driver and those hybrids. Now I'm thinking I should seriously get fitted. Your Dad, "See It wasn't my swing". 😆

I posted pretty much the same exact thing! There are so many great aspects of the game of golf. I vote for premium graphite for a man that age and handicap. Dad indicated he favored lighter clubs.
These guys and gals who are posting here have a great deal to be thankful about their dads or moms that got them started in the great game of golf and mentored them to the point of building good confidence. My mom was a 2 handicapper, and a member in a sweet low profile country club in Southern Idaho. She started me and my 2 sisters in the great game of golf. From my mom, many people got into golf starting from her daughters and fanning out from there.
Wow, I missed the beginning, so I didn't see it coming... That was a sweet show of love & appreciation for your dad. You're a good son. He raised you right❤
Suggestion: senior flex graphite shaft in the 20 year old Pings + hands forward for comparison. Great interaction with your dad who is the guy you want in your regular retired Wednesday group.
What a heartwarming and insightful video! Watching the careful and detailed fitting process for your dad was not only educational but also incredibly touching. It’s amazing to see the technology advancements in golf clubs over the last 18 years and how they can make such a significant difference in performance. The decision to gift the set to your dad in the end was the perfect touch. It really shows the love and appreciation you have for him. I started golf at age 75 (3 years ago) and play at about the same level as your Dad. My clubs are old Mizuno blades from some 20 years ago. They are all I know as I have never been fitted. Your video makes me want to get to a fitting soon as I love the game. I loved the commentary and relationship between you and Dad. You both are clearly analytical and very nice to each other. That's refreshing. Your Dad has a great and consistent back swing. Hope my game gets as consistent as he is. Thanks for a great video.😊
Very interesting. Im 61 and getting back into golf after 28 years of not playing. Im going for an iron fitting in 11 days to replace my 31 year old Pings.
Great video, I can actually relate to this fitting. Your dad is a great guy, I was lucky enough to work with him for a bit, he talked with great pride about you and golfing!

OMG, your Dad is hilarious, best fitting video I've seen yet. I don't remember the quote but you blamed and issue he was having on his clubs and he said something like, I knew it had to be the clubs and not me (LOL)... Good to see in the comments that there are some great fathers out there I was also blessed with a great Dad and upbringing. Moms are the best but Dads come through when you need them most. Love this video.. ❤
Lol. This is funny. I used to play Ping G5 irons as well. I upgraded to Sim 2 Max irons July of 2023. Big difference. I always described hitting my G5 was like I was hitting the ball with a piece of concrete. Even when I squared one up well the ball just felt "heavy" off the face of the iron.
Love this video, your Dad is a fun guy! I am also in Calgary and will be getting fitted at Modern Golf when I need new clubs again. So many people say they aren’t good enough to get fitted, such a counter intuitive approach to golf. This video proves that fitting can increase your success and enjoyment of the game. Thanks for the kind words. Appreciate it. A fitting is definitely worth it. Find a good fitter in your area and they'll take the time to help you play better golf. Thanks for watching. 🍻
So very cool 😎! You and you're father have such a great rapport ! Iam a little older than you're father , but this session really helped me understand how the club heads and shaft changes can make such a difference ! Thanks for this and I hope you show more posts with you're father , he's got a great sense of humor ! 😊
That was awesome. Usually, I don't watch a whole video of hitting different clubs but since you had your Dad there it was interesting for me to see what the outcome was going to be. You killed it by gifting the set to your Dad. It says a lot about your relationship with your Dad. Great Video!!!
WHAT A GREAT VIDEO!! Your dad is a lovely gentleman, & you were very good at explaining all the new technology to him. Well done & best wishes from Scotland.
That was really great!! I’m around the same age as your dad and am considering updating my irons that are also about 18 years old. I’d be going from TM TPs and am looking at the TM QI and will definitely want to look at the Srixon as well! Thanks again, really useful info! Also, good on you for taking care of the man that took care of you!!
Thanks for the great content, I enjoyed the real world testing and outcome of the fitting! Excellent! Great selection of clubs showing the differences.
Wow i watched this a few months back and loved it, but i wasn't looking at the TM Qi and i forgot the end result. Just got a professional fitting yesterday and i got very similar results - the Taylor Made fitted my swing best (I also have anatural draw). With the Qi i added 20 yards from my old 1980 Rams i play, and the consistency and accuracy was stunning. I'm 66 (your Dad is 65). So my wife bought me the Qi set as my retirement gift. I haven't been this excited to get on the course in 30 years! What a great concept video! Thank you.
The G5 where a great iron , I bought a set on a trip to the USA in 2005, only replaced them a few years ago with g410 irons , because the steel shafts went rusty. They should be making new irons with the degrees number on them , like wedges , the club number is no longer relevant
I loved this fitting with your father. I learned a lot about the fitting process and how it takes a bit of data gathering to see what works. This makes me want to get fitted to find clubs that fit me. You two have a wonderful day.
Thank you so much for this video. I'm a bit older than your dad, but in about the same circumstance, handicap, ball speed, trajectory, distance. Going for a fitting in Houston next Sunday, and hope to come out of it with similar results. Well done, and great present for your father.
Just stumbled across your channel. I'm five years younger than your dad, but he has a much better swing! More dad and son videos please - this was brilliant.
Such a nice thing to do for dear old Dad. It was fun to see what the various clubs did for his results. I’m 73. I don’t recall how old your Dad is, probably younger than me, but facing many of the same challenges as I. I also have clubs older than your Dad’s so the technology would most likely do me some good. I am coming back to golf after a 25 year layoff (for a variety of reasons) and trying to see if I can still play. Injuries on every round 😢 so far but the rounds have been a couple of years apart so who knows? Certainly some conditioning is in order. Anyway, it was interesting for me because I can relate to your Dad. Keep up the great content.
Welcome back to the game! My dad is 65 and these new clubs should be easier on his body, especially the graphite shafts. You should notice some big improvements when you hit some near gear. Thanks for the support!
awesome awesome video and fitting your dad is great your great I'm 59 so close to his age with a 8 handicap I LOVE GOLF it was a nice improvement with the new sticks keep up the good work and I am very much looking forward to seeing a session with your dad and his new clubs cheers from Vulcan Alberta
Great video. Showcases how everyone should get fit trying all the brands as results vary person to person, iron head to iron head, and shaft to shaft. I am definitely going to have to do that next time I get irons. Based on your Dad’s dispersion circles the qi distance gain and dispersion were awesome but I would have went with that amazing cobra dispersion circle all day. As a passionate every other weekend warrior I would love to end up with results like that.
Thank you! Ya totally. I always recommend getting fitted. Everyone makes good clubs these days. Just a matter of they work for you. Thanks for watching and the message. 🍻
this was very interesting for me as a 72 tear old higher hadicap just coming back to golf after some years out due to major op. Thanks for the excellent info. What a wonderful gesture at the end you just love your dad!x
I was in the same boat as your dad. I had some old Palmer Peerless blades. I went to a retail and fitting shop, picked up a new Mizuno iron and was blasting it. Come to find out, today's irons are upright by 2 clubs of loft now. Also, in my day, we were swinging as flat as we could and sweeping the ball off of the grass. Now, the focus is on de-lofting the club and punching it. So, now you are talking about 3 clubs of difference in distance. In my young days, my 7 iron was 160 and now 185-190. It's kinda crazy.....
I can completely relate to this video. I just turned 65 a couple days ago, am retired and I play approximately 20 year old Callaway X18 irons. This has got me thinking I need to look into getting fitted for some new irons as well. Thanks so much. New subscriber as well.
I’m 60 yrs old. I went to buy a set of G430 this week he guy in the shop said I need to do a club fitting I was very sceptical but I did it. After 2 hours and having my heart set on the G430 I walked out with the Taylormade QI10 amazing clubs.
I was fitted this past week (first ever fitting) for driver. I was all set on the Ping G-430 Max......after the fitting, I wound up with the Callaway Ai Smoke with senior shaft. Incredible club.....
Without doubt best fitting video on youtube. Your dad is amazing and is honest opinion was brilliant . And you did a super job explaining and going through all the options. Great job and definitely will be adding a sub 👍
Thanks for sharing this video of you and your dad!!! Me and my dad enjoyed golfing together. He’s been gone a few years but golfing with him was one of my best memories with him. Doug
Just went with my dad to his fitting last week. He went from ping G2s to the ping G730s. Crazy how the tech has advanced. A shaft swap and he was drilling them all down the center. Makes me want to go get fitted myself to see if a change would help my game.
Thank you! There nothing natural about wearing a microphone in front of lights and a camera but he was a really good sport about it. Appreciate you saying he looked comfortable!
Nice video. Easygoing and appreciative father-son talk about a passion both share. Family first! Thumbs up! As a general rule of thumb, especially for seniors, i suggest the softest shaft you can still control, and a setup that enables a high ball flight, especially in mid and long irons. BTW - i never understood manufacturers strengthen iron lofts - except for the reason they can sell you an additional club: a second GW!
My father also brought me to golf as well. A little nine hole called Tall Oaks. I am from Michigan and have had the joy of playing Arcadia Bluffs 25 yrs ago for the first time on my 40th b/d. That is a Great hole you aced. Thanks for sharing..
Just wanted to thank you very much for this video for two reasons one I enjoyed seeing you and your dad interacting in such a way and you doing those things with him and providing him with those irons as they get was just a wonderful gesture the other reason is that I am very similar to your dad however, a little bit younger, but have these similar swings and the similar issues that you were discussing with him I will definitely be checking these irons outand see how they perform compared to what I have now. Thank you very much.

Thanks for the kind words. Appreciate it. A fitting is definitely worth it. Find a good fitter in your area and they'll take the time to help you play better golf. Thanks for watching. 🍻
Congratulations to you both. Probably the sweetest you tube video ever. Absolutely wonderful. 👍
Thank you. Appreciate it. 🙏
So very cool 😎! You and you're father have such a great rapport ! Iam a little older than you're father , but this session really helped me understand how the club heads and shaft changes can make such a difference ! Thanks for this and I hope you show more posts with you're father , he's got a great sense of humor ! 😊
Very nice video and dad 😄. With his clubhead speed a spin on 5000 is actually very good. Especially indoor.
Now there's a golfer I can relate to. Well done and I learned alot. Also kudos for being so nice to pops.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. 🍻
Dude I want to golf with your dad. Great sense of humor and you laughed. Dont think i ever watched a 35 min video thru the end.
haha glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching and the comment. Appreciate you. 🙏
That was awesome. Usually, I don't watch a whole video of hitting different clubs but since you had your Dad there it was interesting for me to see what the outcome was going to be. You killed it by gifting the set to your Dad. It says a lot about your relationship with your Dad. Great Video!!!
Thanks for watching the whole video. Appreciate you.🍻 Glad I was able to find him something he liked.
Great video 👍 hopefully it goes viral and your dads gets a new driver next 🎉
Great video and fitting I love how you and your Dad interact with each other. Nice to see a fitting for most golfers
Your dad is a pretty mellow fellow 😂. Love to see a hybrid fitting for him and driver. Very relatable to most swing speeds👍
Thanks! Will definitely get him back on for a hybrid and driver fitting.
WHAT A GREAT VIDEO!! Your dad is a lovely gentleman, & you were very good at explaining all the new technology to him. Well done & best wishes from Scotland.
Thank you! Appreciate the kind words. 🍻
Everything about that session was enjoyable !!
Thanks you! 🙏Glad you enjoyed it. Let me know what you end up getting.
Well done dude awesome video to bring lots of joy to your dad. ❤❤
Thanks for the great content, I enjoyed the real world testing and outcome of the fitting! Excellent! Great selection of clubs showing the differences.
Thank you! Appreciate it. Glad you enjoyed it. 🍻
Well done Coach Bill!
First video I’ve seen. Subbed, so good. Love to see the appreciation for the good father. This is truly good stuff man
Thank You 🙏🏻
Most enjoyable and informative..
Thank you.
Awesome. Good to hear!
Enjoy retirement and your new sticks! 🍻
@@NewNineGolf thank you. They have been terrific. Had my best round of the season yesterday. It helps that I'm not trying to hit it as hard.
The G5 where a great iron , I bought a set on a trip to the USA in 2005, only replaced them a few years ago with g410 irons , because the steel shafts went rusty. They should be making new irons with the degrees number on them , like wedges , the club number is no longer relevant
I tried the g25 and they were some of the best
I still game G5s. There is no new iron technology in the past 20 years. Just strong lofted.
I loved this fitting with your father. I learned a lot about the fitting process and how it takes a bit of data gathering to see what works. This makes me want to get fitted to find clubs that fit me. You two have a wonderful day.
Thank you! 🙏 Glad you enjoyed it and definitely go for a fitting. You as well. 🍻
Those G5’s were a great iron!
Thank you so much for this video. I'm a bit older than your dad, but in about the same circumstance, handicap, ball speed, trajectory, distance. Going for a fitting in Houston next Sunday, and hope to come out of it with similar results. Well done, and great present for your father.
Let me know how your fitting goes! Thanks for watching. 🍻
More Bill please! He is fantastic!
Very nice gesture for you to do that for your Dad.I can tell his game will definitely improve. 😊
All hail King of the dad jokes/humor…
His dad made me laugh without even telling a joke at 25:19
“Meow” 😸
Just stumbled across your channel. I'm five years younger than your dad, but he has a much better swing! More dad and son videos please - this was brilliant.
"Problem with golf is, you don't get to shoot two in a row." I feel that in my bones 🤣
Second golfer is best golfer.
Great video. Now take him to the course. I want to see him play with his new clubs.
Oh, and darn it, now I'm salivating for those srixon. Those are 🔥
Thank you! I'll definitely do that when the snow melts here. Haha
Ya those Srixons do look very nice.
awesome awesome video and fitting your dad is great your great I'm 59 so close to his age with a 8 handicap I LOVE GOLF it was a nice improvement with the new sticks keep up the good work and I am very much looking forward to seeing a session with your dad and his new clubs cheers from Vulcan Alberta
Glad you enjoyed this one! 🍻
Thanks for watching and the message. Welcome back to the game. Enjoy! 🍻
Thanks for watching and the sub. Definitely doesnt hurt to test out some new stuff. 🍻
I have Pings I bought in the early ‘90s. Haven’t played in 25 years. Your dad’s Pings would be the next generation for me. 😁
Great Video.. I wish your dad good health and many many rounds with those beautiful irons. You are a good son….
Thank you 🙏🏻
Without doubt best fitting video on youtube. Your dad is amazing and is honest opinion was brilliant . And you did a super job explaining and going through all the options. Great job and definitely will be adding a sub 👍
Thanks for the kind words. Appreciate you. 🙏
I really enjoyed this. Thank you. So good to see a great father son interaction. I’ve subscribed
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the sub! 🙏
Incredible video! I love seeing all the details of you explaining why you’re thinking what you’re thinking. Do more of these!
Thank you! Shooting a follow up video with dad tomorrow!
Thanks for sharing this video of you and your dad!!!
Me and my dad enjoyed golfing together. He’s been gone a few years but golfing with him was one of my best memories with him.
Doug
❤️
Just went with my dad to his fitting last week. He went from ping G2s to the ping G730s. Crazy how the tech has advanced. A shaft swap and he was drilling them all down the center. Makes me want to go get fitted myself to see if a change would help my game.
Really enjoy the fitting videos, and your dad was awesome. Seemed like he felt super comfortable which made for a great video!
Thank you! There nothing natural about wearing a microphone in front of lights and a camera but he was a really good sport about it. Appreciate you saying he looked comfortable!
Great video... love your dad. I just bout the Taylormade irons yesterday! I'm have a very similar game and score the same as well!
This was the best having your dad. It also was great as I could relate to his changes over time. Fantastic review and what shaft changes can do
Thank you. 🙏
Great session! So fun to watch you and your dad. I hope you don’t change that shaft. He hit nice gentle cuts. They will land softer as you know.
Thank you! 🙏
Nice! Chrome soft or Bridgestone rxs is another 3 or 4 yards carry as well.
Well done. Great to see a son helping the old man.. Nice touch with the new set.. Bring that score down...
Thanks Paul. 🙏
Been watching youtube golf videos for years and by far enjoyed this one the most. Looking forward to the his driver testing!
Thanks Brad. 🍻
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching and the message. 🍻
Heartwarming video. I know it was supposed to be about golf, but it was about much more than that. Thanks.
