It's the Bass player, man he's so on it !! perfect time keeper. I also remember Sue's very early version of 'Don't Think Twice', & I recall thinking this Gal's goin' to be right up there..!! Terrific.
Dear Lord. I’ve been listening to this band for three years now, own their last four albums AND JUST WAS FLOORED BY THIS PERFORMANCE. They never stop amazing me with their love of the music and vibe together as a band.
Joe Cocker turns this little Everly Brothers pop song into a dramatic warning. You can see Suzie's father pounding on the front door right now. This was one of the early indications I'd how impactful Joe's song interpretations would be.
From 2:50 on is some of the best music I have ever seen & heard played. Susan love the leather & pigtails! There is no better band. The sky didn’t just fall, it was knocked unconscious.
Folks if you have the opportunity to see TTB in concert don't think twice, buy your ticket and go. I saw them in Jacksonville Fl, A three hour drive from my home. It was worth every minute of travel time and worth every dime for admission. Susan is beautiful and her voice makes angles cry. Her hubby has a little talent on slide guitar. 👍 The entire band is just a wonder to hear and also to see. It is quite the party. GO SEE THIS BAND IN CONCERT! Your soul with thank you.
Story is they used to tour together but as separate bands, and saw the Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour organized by Leon Russell and saw how much fun they were having playing with a big big band on stage. They got a horn section and backup singers and started touring as the TTB. I for one am glad they did this. Their sound is so much richer now and they're also able to play more music that requires a big band, rather than the 4 piece bands they used to have when they were separate bands. This version of the Letter has such a Joe Cocker, Leon Russell feeling to it.
By And Far The Best Band Playing Today. It's so awesome they continued to pay the salaries of their band and crew while sidelined by Covid. That says it all the best of best as people as well as musicians their kids are so lucky to have them for parents.
First time I saw TT band they played this song and I was hooked. Nobody does this old Alex Chilton and The Boxtops song anymore. Joe Cocker did it in the 70's (maybe at Woodstock in '69, I can no longer recall.) TT nailed it live.
Peter Myers love seen this group several times in concert ,, they are the real deal ,,, however lately I've been binge watching Samantha Fish on TH-cam ,, can't wait to see her live // Buddy Guy gives Samantha two thumbs up
For a fuller sound. Plus it's cool when one plays a hair of a beat behind the other. The original Mad Dogs & Englishmen band actually had 3 drummers plus conga player.
I remember seeing them at the House of Blues where she came on stage unexpectedly, it was so fantastic. I remember her as a kid from our neighborhood, belting out tunes at a very young age
See what you get when you save your Boxtops... The Trucks legend continues.. Susan is the.white soul sister and Queen of the Blues.. thanks , can't get enough of there music🎸🎶🎼👍😎✝️🙏
Great cover of a great song. TTB sounds great no matter what they play. Nobody today plays guitar like Derek and no female mudician/singer is as good as Susan!
This is an excellent performance of the Joe Cocker version. For a second I amused myself imagining Susan doing a brief imitation of John Belushi's body motions parody of Joe.
my absolute favorite musicians of all time THANK YOU TTB FOR YOUR AMAZING BEAUTIFUL MUSIC. Susan's voice goes straight to my soul and Derek's guitar is the same its medicine music
I ___AM___ STUNNED! It is as if they had gathered all the best pieces of all interpretations since the Box Tops came out with it together in this very one performance! Absolute perfection. And Susan's voice tops it all!
Although DT played for years with ABB, he said he had never seen Mad Dogs & Englishmen, the movie with Joe Cocker, Leon Russell, et al traveling around with loved ones and kids in a large ensemble. When he finally saw it, he determined that's how he wanted to do it with TTB. The results are simply astounding. You can feel the love!
@psychorook the irony is that tour nearly destroyed Joe's. He returned to the UK and had little interest in making music. He felt manipulated by Leon Russell, equating it to a puppet master pulling the strings.
Thanks for posting, 6Hills. So cool to hear your story. The closest I got to Otis was my 8Track deck. But I got so close to his soul that I’ll never forget those days!
VERY GOOD REMAKE, FROM BOX TOPS,THE LETTER,WHEN I HAVE 16 OR17 YEARS OLD, THIS SONG IS A SUCCES, VERY LONG TIME ....I AM OLD TODAY AND FAN TEDESHI SUSAN AND DERECK TRUCKS .THANKS; I AM SORRY FROM M'Y ENGLISH BAD 😂BUT SINCE IS TRUE .JACKYFAN 👍FRANCE
Que de souvenirs.......J’avais 20 ans et j’étais bidasse à Tours lorsque cette chanson passait à la radio. C’était en 1967. Année magique, que de bons souvenirs.
I do love me some TTB. They were marvelous seperately, but together they are FANTASTIC. And the musical ensemble they have put together has got to be the best.
Love it when Classic songs are revealed/Revived. So many great songs could be jump started again from groups like The Beau Brummell’s , Rascals, Quick Silver to name just a few
Her speaking voice and singing voice are on 2 opposite ends of the chart. Lucky 🍀 for us 😁 She sounds so much like Janis Joplin with such grit and gravel. Awesome 😎 👏🏼👏🏼
Terrific bluesy, sexy Susan Tedeschi!!! I'm so into you & your music & your terrific band!!! It's just 5:15am in the morning & here I am digging on your incredible band & music... You rock this song, Susan... Your voice is the utmost sexy, bluesy, rocky sound ever!!! PLEASE come to N.Mexico in 2016 & perform... I am from Santa Fe, N. Mexico... Velva Hot Lips on the Harmonica for 48 plus years!!! You rock the music Susan!!! 6-19-16
This girl rocks! Both Susan and Derek are just great people. Met both at an ABB party at Beacon Hotel a number of years ago-they said "thanks so much for coming". So humble.
Outrages as they say ... Those Pipes are are Too Much ... This equals Joe Cocker's Mad Dogs & Englishmen as far as soul full impact ... The Hippies love this ... "Sharing"
She’s Absolutely killing the vocals. Wow
You think this is on the level of Joe cocker?
@@bofetada6841 can’t compare. They are both amazing.
there is no copying joe, but this is great too@@bofetada6841
Not
Absolutely hands down, the best ever cover of this song. Just when you thought Joe Cocker brought the soul, enter Susan Tedeschi.
i guess you've never heard of Joe Cocker.
Exactly, the only version that matches Joe’s
Box tops original
This is shit
Loved it when the Box Tops did it. Loved it when Joe Cocker did it with Mad Dogs & Englishmen. And now, TTB nails it again. Three great performances.
Written By Wayne Carson released by the Box Tops 1967 then many others including a great version by Al Green 1969
I saw the Box Tops do that song live,, maybe late 60s?
Thank God for Susan Amen
Yes but Joe Cocker with the Mad Dogs and Englishmen version is still the best.
Things can Sing & Play a good as anyone!! Either category!!
Absolutely fantastic. The level of talent here is immeasurable!
I just love it when she reaches back and just lets it rip. You KNOW she means that shit. Amazing as always. 🍎💋❤️🎼🎸🥰🍺🥃🌿

Ps - how is the audience not losing their mind?!? ... musta been a hot day. :/
@@mandascruggs2245it wasn't mind-blowing it was just ok
Man, these Leon Russell arrangements are still amazing,.
Tedeschi Trucks is an amazing band and Susan has some great pipes, she can really lay it down!
Oh yeah!

My Father wrote me a letter. Hallelujah! Glory Hallelujah! Amen
From 2:50 on is some of the best music I have ever seen & heard played. Susan love the leather & pigtails! There is no better band. The sky didn’t just fall, it was knocked unconscious.
Man, what a voice. And Derek is one of the greatest ever - just perfect.
Amazing voice and one of the best guitar players alive

I holler at 'em every time I drive past their house! Another great Jacksonville band ...
Seen them twice and this July will make it three. Getting my my Allman Brothers fix
If you don't get this, you haven't got a clue. Bless every single one of them.
This is wonderful! There is more talent on that stage than most will ever see.
It's great to see a band use actual instruments - the horn section is inspirational.
Yeh. They really blow, what?

TTB really is one awesome band. What a voice of Susan. Wow !
First time I saw TT band they played this song and I was hooked. Nobody does this old Alex Chilton and The Boxtops song anymore.
Joe Cocker did it in the 70's (maybe at Woodstock in '69, I can no longer recall.) TT nailed it live.
He did it on his mad dogs and Englishmen tour at the Fillmore East (on the live album) and at Woodstock
Gary Laubscher , this band can do it all for me, can not get enough of them & I am 67
I feel the same way !!! Peace brother !!!
gary laubscher Likewise, I’m 66.
Peter Myers love seen this group several times in concert ,, they are the real deal ,,, however lately I've been binge watching Samantha Fish on TH-cam ,, can't wait to see her live // Buddy Guy gives Samantha two thumbs up
Must, really múst, listen to at least one song of them every day ( 71 now !).
Damn girl you got a voice like no other. BossLady for real.🥰
I can find 5000 singers with the same exact voice and style.
Awesome. Love her voice and everything about the band.
Wow, first time I've seen the video. Just great....Nothing like classic rock!!!
Now THAT is Soul Music! Always loved this song, they do it fine justice! Thanks for the upload ❤️ 💖 💗 💞
A cute little song by the Box Tops and Joe Cocker turned into a great & wonderful song. Great voice and superb instruments.
This is the best touring band currently........Hands Down!
they comp each other respectfully
+boffintech The Allman Bros. had two drummers too
For a fuller sound. Plus it's cool when one plays a hair of a beat behind the other. The original Mad Dogs & Englishmen band actually had 3 drummers plus conga player.
& That Conga man is the great Bobbie Torres! Pride of our city, Portland.
I saw Bobby in the "Mad Dogs and Englishmen" documentary. Wears an afro and sunglasses, right?
I just realized that there are two drummers! How cool is that!?
best version ever from susan and derek wot a great combination of two musicians and of course a great band
Killer song TT band killed it as always Nuf Said.
I remember seeing them at the House of Blues where she came on stage unexpectedly, it was so fantastic. I remember her as a kid from our neighborhood, belting out tunes at a very young age

I have seen then twice! Awsome!
Great cover of a great song. TTB sounds great no matter what they play. Nobody today plays guitar like Derek and no female mudician/singer is as good as Susan!
La chanteuse est sublime. J'adore !
This is an excellent performance of the Joe Cocker version. For a second I amused myself imagining Susan doing a brief imitation of John Belushi's body motions parody of Joe.
This is just awesome, everyone is wicked talented. Especially the vocalist, she's amazing.
Nice....full sound and funky!
God I love this song....we miss you Joe Cocker... they represent you well...
It was the Boxtops did the original. Joe Cocker's version was a great cover too. I'm not sure if Joe Cocker ever did an original song.
@@neilmunro7961 like Guns N Rouses
What a voice!! What a song ! Guys Love you!!
He took the slide off and she put the funk on. Way on.
This song was No.1 with the Box tops in 1967, Coker only covered one. Nobody better to sing it than Alex Chilton
Coker and Al Roker, Matt Lauer sang betr than LX.
You spelled Susan Tedeschi wrong. She's the best to sing this, hands down
WOW!!!!! SHE IS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Even though it hurts to say, this is the best version of THE LETTER I have ever heard, sorry Joe RIP❤️
What about The Box Tops original?
When the guitar comes off, the pipes are coming out strong!
Amazing voice and an incredible band ....

Fab-uh-lus!! Now that's GOOD rock and roll. And look at all those Super Reverbs ...
Super talented band! Derek is truly masterful as Susan is fabulously soulful! And speaking of soul....what a GROOVE the band hits!
