  • Here's my 7 top tips for getting your zero turn mower or garden tractor mower ready for spring. One other quick tip that didn't make it in my video is to check your tire pressure as well, unless you have Tweels on your mower.
    The Milwaukee M18 Fuel 3/8 Impact Wrench was powered by a normal M18 2Ah battery. I guarantee the bolt will loosen faster with a M18 3Ah High Output Battery, which I'll try in another video. Do you think there will be a noticeable difference in power?

    Good detailed video. A suggestion of what I like doing for all oil changes I do is fill the oil filter with fresh oil before installing it so there aren't those few seconds of 'dry sump' while the oil pump fills the filter. When the filter is installed sideways, you can still fill it with oil, just don't fill it to the top. You'll be surprised how much oil gets absorbed by the filter element. I believe the cumulative wear after 5 or 6 oil changes with an empty filter would cause a decent amount of wear to the cylinder walls and to the piston rings.
    Also, before installing the new filter, make sure the rubber gasket from the old filter came off when you remove the old filter. I've had the gasket remain on the block on the last 2 392 Mopar engines I've done oil changes on. If you don't realize the old gasket didn't come off and you install the new oil filter, you'll have a HUGE mess once that engine oil is up to full psi. Keep up the great informative videos.

      Thanks for that information, I'll pass that along if I do another oil change video on something else.

    Don’t forget to grease where the front wheels connect to mower, same side as valve stem.

    I would consider looking at the Project Farm Oil Showdown he did last year. Thats an aweful lot of money for some 4 stroke oil.

    Thanks for the video, just got a zt1 50. Not sure if it applies but my JD mentions timing your blades, basically one is installed 90 degrees the other -I

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I recall reading that online somewhere but haven't seen anything else on the other mower's I've run. I normally install the blades at a different angle than the one next to it, but not purposely positioning them at 90 degrees.
      I'd like to hear other opinions if someone has some more insight. Thanks.

    good video 👍 did you have to check the air pressure in the rear tires ?

    • @MarkThomasBuilder

      Good point. I meant to put that in the video. Yes, tire pressure is important too unless you have Tweels.

    Nice vid. So this unit nor the Zt150 doesn’t have any zerk fittings to grease?

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is correct. They are sealed and this mower is designed for easy maintenance and residential use.

      can confirm ZT1-50 has grease zerks for front wheels, same side as valve stem, should also have zerks for spindles, I'd be more than a little surprised if it didn't.

      check the blade spindles, there should be zerks there too. Most mowers are sold without the spindles being greased, there's only what came in the bearings when new and the housing is dry so it's going to take quite a bit of grease to fill the void but it's worth doing since the rubber seals on the bearings will allow grease in.

    Its not necessary to lock the blades with a piece of wood? Im about to swap mine out sometime next week for the first time.

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't need to with an impact wrench. My other mower often needed a piece of wood due to the deck design that super tightened the bolts.

    So, it's not necessary to lube grease fittings on a ZT1? This is video #5 that I have watched and no one does it.

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, that's a good point. There aren't too many fittings on here to grease, but I agree that they need it a couple times during the mowing season.

      @MarkThomasBuilder actually the reason I'm looking is because, I just had a brand new 42" delivered and the front wheels squeak something awful. I was wondering where any others are for the maintenance that Cub Cadet says they need. So far I have found nothing in the manual or TH-cam videos that tells or shows where all the zerts are or might be. That ranks right up there in sanity with requiring services on a hour basis but not having an hour meter. 😂😂😂
