This is by FAR one of the best if not the best gun projects I have ever seen on youtube! I have this same exact Mosin Nagant rifle and Arch Angel stock configuration, scope mount, scope etc and I will definitely be recreating what you have done here with yours. You sell yourself short by saying you are not a professional painter. Maybe not but you are a Hell of a good hobbyist painter and could easily make yourself a nice income doing this for other people. You are very talented. It is nice of you to thank Duracoat for allowing you to try out their product but honestly considering the quality of your video and the excellent end results of your project using their product , I think it is they who ought to be thanking you for the excellent product review and unquestionable increased sales that you have steered in their direction. I knew Duracoat was a good product but I didn't know it was this good! New sub, GREAT video! -Kayla
Probably the best do it yourself duracoat video I've seen. Thanks for the video!
Matthew ODell thank you
I agree with Matthew, you did a great job all around. That weapon is now part of the flora. I was just discussing different camouflage patterns the other day with my son, and although I am in the great commonwealth of
PA, land of potholes and taxes, having had practical experience with Tiger Stripe in a far off location, I still suggested this pattern as a viable option for clothing and gear. I really appreciate what a fine representation you gave for Duracoat Aerosol. A little bit of texture helps to break up the reflection, so I wouldn't worry. Keep your head down, for protection and humility, you clearly love your country, choose your battles. God Bless
That looks awesome. I've been contemplating refinishing one of my rifles and have watch a lot of videos on the duracoat aerosol product and yours is probably the best duracoat job I've seen.
Squatch88 Thank you. It was a fun project.
After watching this, I've decided to do this paint project on my mosin. Great job, looks amazing. Hopefully mine will turn out fine. Thanks again for the vid.
Man this came out awesome better than the pros. Love how came out.
I'm not usually a fan of the tiger stripe pattern for firearms but that came out quite nice. Great work.
That looks really good. I would like to see those stripes continue there lines down onto magazine. To me would finish the look. Very nice job
Thanx for sharing your project Im an auto painter by trade.Just a heads up Dont sand blast to agressive if you go the blasting routeuse Media or Nut shell type,Also was surprized you removed all existing finish off your rifle The finish on your rifle has great adhesion All you really need to do is make sure you scuff it well No shiny spots use red scuff pad to get into cracks and use compressed air to blow off well all of dust then use latex gloves do not want oil from your hands touching your surface at this point clean it well with an automotive grade cleaner wax and grease Remover Wipe on and immediately wipe off dry use new towels for drying frequently because what you're wiping off is oil and grease then B sure it is all evaporated and go for .// First coat use a piss coat (Light)XXX The mask your using does Nothing for Vapors you can go to say Napa and get actually a respirator disposable for I think about $16 just a heads up man⛑
Great job And in No way am I taking away from your great video cheers brother🇺🇸🍻
What is that bolt handle? I’m looking to change mine out on my Mosin and I really like the bolt handle on yours?
Truly an awesome job, I am doing my Mosin Archangel as well and would like to know exactly where you taped off the chamber, bolt and cocker so I can get a similar look. Thanks
That end finish is phenomenal
Fantastic job. How's it shoot? pics of groups?
Excellent job! Tiger stripes are my favorite camo!
I've been DuraCoating for seven years. Switch to an airbrush, you'll never regret it. But, good job!
Nice job, great looking Mosin.
I'm doing Mosin #3 right now, just got my Archangel stock via UPS and should have my Timney trigger by tomorrow. Guna do a scout scope on this one.
Nice sounds like a fun project!
@@freecalifornia6734 hey man! Great vid! Im using it as a guide to do mine. I just finished one but im having one issue. The base paint comes off with the stickers on the stock. How much did you sand it? Im not having this issue with metal parts, only synthetic ones... i sanded the crap out if it with a 400 sandpaper but same result... :s ho.e u can help me! Cheers!
You need any clear coat after duracoat ?? Great video
Been looking for a way to upgrade my mosin barrel. Thanks for the info
I was surprised you painted the bolt is it sticky action now that you painted it?
wow!!! that looks great! im going to get that stock for my mouser and give it the duracoat treatment now!!!
What kind of stock is that and what mag. I have an old mosin as well, BEAUTIFULLY restored the original stock but this looks amazing
this is an arch angel stock and they have a proprietary magazine
I've been working on a mosin project for a few years. working on a custom GEARS OF WAR "longshot" sniper with my mosin. the Archangel is complete though.
Nice vid and Awesome custom duracoat job. What kind of accuracy are you getting with the shortened barrel and new crown? Are you using the standard mosin trigger or did you install a timney?
David C I have a timney trigger in there. on an unstable plastic table with Russian surplus I was shooting about 2 moa at 100 yards not great but not to bad.
Nice job man! I've been looking into doing something along the lines of this as well. How has the bolt held up thus far?
Blake Harris paint looks great on the bolt there is some minor wear but only on surfaces rubbing against metal.
GREAT JOB BRO THATS MY NEW PAINT SKEEM NOW THANKS TO YOU!!!!!! BEEN LOOKIN AT TIGER STRIPE VIDEOS YOURS IS THE BEST IVE SEEN MY AR15 IS GOING TO LOOK AMAZING.
Please be honest how durable was this and how long before starting to show wearing?
Did u peel the sticker off when it was still wet. Or let dry a little?
Your Mosin looks great.
I did mine the same way but with 5 coats.
Beautiful job! Im tempted on doing it to my mosin in the arch angel stock
Who did the bolt on your Mosin?...Nice work with the spray can.
MrDLRu I bought the bent bolt handle from rock solid industries.
Excellent Job! I love Tigerstripe camo and that came out great. Congrats!
Good job guy . Do you have a link about this paint for ordered please ?
Hey,i have my stock and trigger, and i am planning to shorten the barrel to 16".
How big of a deal would it be if i left the barrel unfinished.
I would like it to stay metal colour, but not chrome finish it.
Also,how durable is duracoat.
My rifle gets thrown around a lot, other people shoot it and its basicaly beater gun.
I don't want duracoat to chip.
What was the temperature of the can when you sprayed? I'm wondering if the can was cold and that may be why it was coming out thick.
David Towne I am not sure exactly but it was warmish.
Excellent work. A piece of art. Well done
Great job! Very informative. Your help will be greatly appreciated on my k98 resto. Project
Great job guy! Thanks for the demo
WOw, really good instructions! Thanks for making this. Did you tape or cover the inside of the receiver or did you paint inside as well?
Man, that is sweet...... what scope mount is that? It's perfect for what I'm building!
Kelsey Tharp burris zee rings
Looks great man! That was the Vietcong's camouflage pattern? It looks bad ass
Kustom Hooligans it was loosely based on the us patterned tiger stripe.
Thanks for the vid, any chance of making the stencil downloadable? Like scan it or something?
I will post a link this week.
here is a link to my new video on how to make your on stencils, in the description there is a link to the stencil pattern.
th-cam.com/video/-_I9BJLs81Q/w-d-xo.html
Awesome, thanks!
+Mike no problem
That looks frickin awesome!
thank you it was a fun project.
Thinking of this same template with Coyote stripes and Magpul FDE as the overall color.
Did you use any of the finish coats of gloss, satin or matte to help protect it even more?
Mark Harris I did not. It is still holding up great other than some wear on the bolt its doing well.
A 3M twin chem filter mask is the best. Yours was a novelty. I care about your lungs.
Like youself, I will be a first timer. My project is my beloved RIA VR60 semi-auto shotgun. Its a large version of my Armilite AR10. That is why I like it. Anyway, I am only Duracoating the polymer compound forearm and the intergral lower receiver/stock. Same cleaning prep as yours plus I will use 180 grit aluminum oxide in a sandblaster with 70psi. pressure. Then a super clean bath. I really want every crevice fine etched and especially the forearm picatinny rails. Adhesion seems a critical part of the process as you have shown me.
From your issue. Plan to get an extra spray can nozzle. I like your garage set up for this. Plan on doing the same though using new painters drop cloths, hangers like yours and a fan.
■ Do you think real lite coats would of been better? then the dryer. I've watched others and feel lite coats would be better even if I need (2) cans to do it. Some guys doing the four coat rule, their time over the product is slower. I have tripedations of too thick or the runs. I get awesome results spray painting anything with lite coats. You mentioned this is not the same. Hmm, maybe a short practice run on a piece of something else would help me.
■ Were you concerned with DUST? Any found on the weapon?
■ Cure Time. They say 3weeks. Others say longer. I plan longer. Hmm, maybe a few months. I hail from the Great Lakes and winter is around the corner. Will see. My weapon is a masterpiece and i desire the best application and cure time. Your weapon looks fantastic. Visually, one would think some high end specialty shop performed it all.
Thank you for this Triple A production. You have empowered me. Enjoy your Youth.
God bless our Republic 🇺🇸 for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and and justice for all. Dear God almighty, bring back "America The Great" I once knew.
Awesome job especially do it yourself project looks great !
So did you ever paint the magazine?
I like your video.and duracoat spray can...but,in our country there's not much to buy, some colour of them are restricted....
did your barrel already have that much loose of paint before you sandpapered it?
No it was completely blued before I started sanding.
hey I'm planning on building a mosin with the Archangel Stock, what Kind of scope mount do you have?
also deciding between painting or Hydo Dipping, what would you recommend?
I did this to my 9130 a few years back, already had a black Arc Angle stock.
I did the barrel and bolt 4 coats and very pleased on how they came out.
The paint left in the can lasted only a few days when it got hard.
Did you have any trouble fitting the scope into the scope rings because it looked like you didn't cover the inside surfaces of the rings with taps.
Hey man that gun looks awesome! Thinking of making this my first gun because the cost seems decent, do you have any tips by any chance? Thanks in advanced. P.S. Everyone in the comments I'd appreciate your input as well 😊
When your can starts to stop up, turn it upside down and spray air through which will clean the nozzle.
Great video , very informative !!! Great job.
Great job. Looks cool!
Great job!!! Fantastic work.
Wait are you degreasing with the scuff pad???
where did you get the scope mount
How does it effect the action and overall functionality of the gun since it is a thick paint?
Anthony Radosevich I have not had any issues feeding or running the bolt.
To be honest, that black and white version looked really aggressive. I actually liked that version better than the end product. lol.
Man that looks freakin awesome. Great video
that rifle is beautiful great job
what kind of scope mount is this and where can i buy it?
Nice job man
At what point did you apply the stencils? After 3 coats of base paint?
I applied them approximately 24 hours after the base coat.
Free California nice! This is so funny. I bet we were both looking at the same tiger striped rifle on Google search images, or maybe you were wiser than me and just searched for the stencils. Thank you for that idea! That's going to make ny peoject way easier I think 👍
+John Kennedy lol I don't know about wiser but yeah I searched for a template I will put a link to it in my stencil video.
fantastic pattern
That looks great!
Nice looking weapon!
What an awesome job.. Jesus thats impressive..
dura coat I looked on amazon its like 63.77 but Cerakote H series ( don't need a oven ) 38.99
Excellent job bro! Thumbs up!~John
Thank you it was fun!
How much did you sand on the stock ?
Nice work !!!
What is the scope mount ?
fricking gorgeous job.
Great job, very nice.
that's very nice gun man!!!!
wow so YOU cut out the stripes?? awesome job! I've been contemplating the same thing myself LOL. WAY cheaper than spending $50 on the camo stencils from Montactical
Let me know if you want to see a video showing exactly how I made the stencils, I was thinking of making one.
Free California Yeah for sure that would be awesome! I assume the sticker residue came right off after it cured, and after you wiped it off?
Free California That is OD green right? Freakin LOVE how it turned out. It's like the perfect finish 👍
+John Kennedy I am still letting the rifle cure but the sticker residue should come right off. Duracoat also makes a sticker residue remover as well, They say it will remove the sticky residue without harming the paint. The colors are tactical od green and tactical black.
Looks good
don't you have to bake the paint on there rather than use a heat gun?
I wanna do my glock the slide and the frame can I just not sand it or anything and just use the stripper and clean it then coat it???????
justin M you would have to at least scuff it while you used the trustrip.
nice work
what scope are you using?
vortex diamondback hp 4-16x42
What kind of groups?
dude great job!
um I think it turned out Badass....

God Bless America and Long Live The Republic.

Kyle Hart vortex diamondback hp
