For anybody who is curious, whenever you see a video of someone being tazed and they have no reaction to it, it's not because they "just ate it", it's because both of the prongs did not hit the target. Tazers require both of the prongs that are fired to hit the target for the tazer to actually take effect. It is actually quite common that both prongs don't connect on the first shot because of clothing on the target and other factors, so tazers are generally armed with two rounds because of this.

I was gonna say, from my limited experience with electronics as a mechanic, one of the only reasons a circuit would be finicky like that is a loose connection to the main source. So if the prongs don't punch correctly, it won't be as effective.

Just because he says he doesn't have DATA to back this up (poverty and gun violence) doesn't mean he's "making it up". He's merely pointing out that gun violence in the inner city ensures that local LA politicians and directors may need the problem to persist in order to justify their $260,000 salaries. It more than likely means that the data needs to be collated from an authoritative source like the FBI, ATF, CDC, etc. Which will never happen because there is a one party majority. It's like, why would you investigate the root cause if it meant fixing it was your a$$ and livelihood. Make sense?

It's actually not that likely if you're safe and take all the proper safety protocols. I've been an electrician for 15 years now, and I've only been hit once. I was working on landscape lighting @ the Mandalay Bay in Vegas. I went to change out a bulb and got lit up because the fixture wire was exposed on the inside of the housing, and became energized. Went through my hand and grounded me through my knee. Hit me pretty good. It happens so fast you don't even realize what's happening til it's over. Grabs hold of you and contracts your muscles.
We follow very strict OSHA safety precautions. We're actually never supposed to work on circuits that are energized, unless it's medical life support systems @ hospitals. And if we do those, we get suited up in arc blast suits.
It's a good career man. Definitely don't be scared by electricity, once you learn how it works, you learn to respect it, and not fear it.

I was apposed to the process but after illegal ccw for 10 years I figured I had to much to loose. Im apposed because as Colin mentioned, its a constitutional right.. The second amendment does say you have the right to bear arms and does not say only if your local jurisdiction thinks you should. The biggest issue with ccw is putting ourselves on a list of people to confiscate firearms from when the ATF keeps redefining laws to include everyone. Registration *will* result in confiscate eventually. If not in my lifetime then my kid's lifetime. Idk what world you're living in to believe millions of people can be rational and respectful of other opinions/situations. 1000% agree with Noir on the issue of poverty and mental health. Where I grew up in West Baltimore people who lived in old family houses often passed down from their grandparents were more likely to escape poverty and not be involved in violent crimes. That's not to say most didn't do crime, it was just that it was not necessary for people (myself included) to commit crime since we had access to basic things. However! the people who grew up in rowhomes and apartments were worse off! They were always committing crime and causing problems. Hell, one of my friends before he passed at 17 (SEVENTEEN!!) years old had the nickname "Felony" because the dude committed so many crimes that eventually the courts charged him as an adult. Ironically, he did not die by gang violence, he had MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES and shot himself. So I agree that there are so many problems with poverty and when you have mental health and/or mental illnesses or severe mental illness running in your family on top of that, it makes the situation worse. People in leadership always say "we need to talk about it" but then never take action needed to change these situations.

It doesn't seem fair to raise a child in hell and not expect mental health issues. Like the chicken and the egg, which came first? What causes poverty? The fastest track to the poor house is a single parent house. I suspect if we had healthier whole families, we'd have less poverty and less mental illness. Decades of numbers says that's true.

Yeah these days many kids start to sell drugs because it isn't worth for them to work a normal job since they don't make enough money compared to drug trafficking. It's interesting how instead of figuring ways to try to reduce prices and tax to make it easier for people to live, instead politicians just talk about it, just take more taxes, become rich, and do nothing about it. We don't only have gun crime go up, but every crime go up.

I think one of the things missed is the "prolonged exposure to poverty" may actually be the most influential: those in poverty, especially cities (so this can sort of explain why West Virginia isn't as violent), is lead exposure. We know biologically that lead exposure decreases not only IQ, but also decision making skills. Removal of lead from gasoline has been shown to reduce crime ~20 years later everywhere it has happened by a significant amount (this is why crime in the US dropped substantially in the 1990s, for instance). I'm generally anti-government intervention, but if government can actually improve lives somewhere, it would be cleaning up lead in inner cities.

At the end of the day corporate Giants have now interest in keeping more and more of their profits rather than sharing it with their employees who work to get them that wealth. Common sense that eventually that's going to cause the economy to become as it is now. And steadily get worse and be as fragile as it is. In answer to the taser question, modern tasers work on the theory of Neuromuscular Incapacitation, the greater the spread on the probes, the more muscle mass that's affected. This combined with the pain, is better capable of incapacitating a subject that older generations or stun guns...which merely operate on pain compliance. If a person appears to be unaffected, it's typically because the 2nd probe hasn't made contact, or potentially illicit substances are a factor.

It's for no other reason than because politicians simply fear them. The government would be thrilled if guns were taken away, because an unarmed populace is an obedient populace.
Just look at how the UK and Australia treat it's citizenry for example. COVID was a godsend in a way, because it provided a relatively harmless virus that ultimately showed the government's true colors. It allowed the Mask to be removed momentarily, and the stark difference between how those other governments handled and treated their populations vs how the US approached theirs, speaks VOLUMES.
And the single, solitary difference between these populations comes down to: GUNS. The US population is heavily armed, the others are not.
Which is exactly why the US government never really went any further than declaring "guidelines" and "suggestions" and "policies". Those other countries just straight up MANDATED and ORDERED their populations, going so far as to build encampment zones and even jailing certain people. It's spooky how fast the illusion of "democracy" crumbles when the government has no reason to keep up appearances.

Truth. Just like rogan bringing up the cottage industry surrounding "fighting homelessness" guarantees homelessness will never be dealt with, because there is too much money to be made pretending to fight it, the "War on drugs" won't ever be won, because there is too much incentive for the gvmt to keep it up. They will loose trillions in their dept budgets if they ever actually stopped drugs from being sold and used in the US.
It's kinda funny, that we all know how much money the Columbian and Mexican cartels make selling drugs, something to the tune of 100 billion a year, but that pales in comparison to how much money the FBI and DEA and DHS and state and local gvmts have spent on fighting those drugs. Drug dealers and smugglers and criminal gangs made literal fortunes with drugs, but the US gvmt has taken tens of trillions from taxpayers to pretend they're fighting it. Someone is making money using prohibition as their excuse for sure, but it's not who you'd expect it to be.

A woman in Massachusetts was criminally charged and ended up doing time for shooting a burglar. The reason? She could have retreated and escaped through her back door which was locked, dead bolted and braced from the inside. Imagine in a high stress situation how long it would have taken her to dismantle the brace assembly, release the deadbolt, unlock the door and run away. That's how ridiculous laws are in New England in general. In Massachusetts one has to apply for a permit to carry mace which is awarded on a 'may issue' and not a 'shall issue' basis.

If this is the incident where the older gentleman had a dispute with a younger guy because he parked in a handicapped spot, the older gentleman was in the wrong. His judgment may have been clouded because he was probably afraid and his adrenaline was high in the moment, but as soon as he pulled his gun out, the guy that was attacking him started walking away... and he shot him anyway. As Colion said in the video, there is a very thin line between justified and unjustified, and looking at the video, it was not a justifiable shooting. Had he still been attacking him when he shot him, it would be a different story, but since the guy started walking away when the gun was pulled out, it's no longer a defensible argument to say he shot him in self-defense, because the attack was over and the offender was retreating. The point in using a gun (whether just brandishing or firing to stop someone) is to end the threat. The threat was over when the guy started walking away; you can't just shoot him because you're upset he attacked you. Like I said, maybe he was caught up in the moment, but in the video, there is a very distinct pause between when he was being attacked, when he pulled out the gun, when the attacker walked away, and when he fired, and that's why he was charged.

The bit about the homeless and inner city violence reminds me of a passage from one of Thomas Sowell's books.
He describes how government subsidies corrupt altruistic community projects.
Imagine a small neighborhood organizes the cleanup of a filthy lot in their area. The government steps in and provides funding for the cleanup effort, including a small salary for the organizers for the duration of the cleanup. What they've just done is financially incentivized the organizers to draw out the duration of the cleanup effort so they can pull from the government subsidy longer.
One can easily imagine such a person, community-oriented and diligent, who nonetheless does some quick math and realizes if they milk the cleanup effort for just one or two extra weeks, the extra salary will help put their kids through college down the line.

The problem with Tasers is unless you get a good spread with the darts you might not be able to immobilize the target fully. Especially if the darts are not fully penetrated into the skin of the subject. This is why the taser while being a good non-lethal weapon is useful, it really depends if you got a good shot on the subject.

Tasers do not have the deterrent effect of a firearm. If you are being home invaded your taser will be useless. Most intended victims have no clue what is about to go down while the criminals body is pumped full of adrenaline possibly mitigating some of the effects of a Taser.

Note on the taser bit: no one really "resists" tasers. Old ones, maybe, since they worked more on pain compliance, but the modern ones literally turn your control over your muscles off because they attack your nerves dorectly. There's no way to fight it, regardless of drugs. Now, the reason they don't always work is because tasers require a specific set of conditions to work properly:
    A) the barbs have to pierce clothing and make it into the skin. No body contact = no work
    B) the barbs have to land close enough together to overcone the natural electrical resistance of the human body. If they land too far apart, they can't complete the circuit and thus no effect.
Both of those conditions HAVE to occur at the same time in order for a modern taser to work. Ian over at Forgetten Weapons has an excellent video on the subject.
