I said back in Feb/March that the only thing that might end the crisis in Ukraine would be Americans having to deal with gas/energy costs. Unlike the US President, Putin cannot launch a nuclear attack on his own. He has access to the nuclear briefcase (Cheget) but only has authorization codes. The defense minister must also transmit his own set of codes. Then the final key is the Chief of General Staff who can launch the missiles once the codes are sent by the other two. It’s a three-tiered system to help prevent a coup or insurrection.
You are totally ignoring the fact that in 1984 there was no war, all counties were at peace and the “captured enemies” were their own citizens who didn’t comply. When I was in the military during the 1980s we didn't train for nuclear war. We trained for gas attacks. The basic idea was that unless you are in a bunker, you're dead.
Still the same when I got out of bootcamp in 2020. Reality is unless you're in a bunker you're done. But they did say if you didn't get to a safe place, do not look at the blast and it'll burn as hell, but keep going until you're "safe" and lay on the ground covering your head and eyes to the floor. And may God protect us and if we should go, make it fast.

The only way to prep for nuclear fallout is to have a large bunker built into a mountain equipped with foot thick blast doors and stock it with provisions and seeds to grow a garden to provide you food for a few decades. You and your family have to stay in the bunker for at least 10 years.
YOu have food for emergency, even if there is no fallout. Like in a Hurricane, or a Pandemic. I ate my stored food for a month, and I still have left overs, while my sister was freaking out for toilet paper. These shelters are not just for Nuclear, but any disaster.

He can. We all have hypersonic missiles now and first strike capability.
Unlike the US President, Putin cannot launch a nuclear attack on his own. He has access to the nuclear briefcase (Cheget) but only has authorization codes. The defense minister must also transmit his own set of codes. Then the final key is the Chief of General Staff who can launch the missiles once the codes are sent by the other two. It’s a three-tiered system to help prevent a coup or insurrection.

When I was in the military during the 1980s we didn't train for nuclear war. We trained for gas attacks.

What Eisenhower actually warned against in January 1961 was the "Military, Industrial, Congressional Complex." The Congressional part was removed at the last moment for reasons I can only suspect were not to offend members of Congress.

Asking for sources isn't being lazy, the irony in that is that I'm instigating further research into the topic to begin with by requesting their source, and I'd like to see the particular source they have read, so that I can see if the claim and source has any validity that should be followed up and validated further by comparison with my own sources and the sources of others that are also intrigued.
That does not mean that I haven't looked myself already. It's just that so far, we have nothing but hearsay and no valid claims yet.
Good journalism, and scientific journals/papers request sources for this very purpose. It is foolish if you honestly believe someone requesting a source for a claim that is outside of regular conventions is just 'being lazy.'

Another historian Douglas Brinkley claims that it was actually "Military, Industrial, Scientific Complex" but much the same applies to his source. Overall its unlikely either of these are actually true.

She has also talked about how, when living in Hawaii, she had a stalker and applied for a CCW and was rejected. That could have been a wake up call for her or a moment to think that people have legitimate self-defense reasons for wanting to own and carry, but it wasn't. She thinks she should have the ability, but the general public should not.
