I was at the launch day, stood in the line for about 2 hours, held it in my hands and ended up saying "nahhhhh" and walked into the seiko boutique down the street and bought something about 10 times better for the price
All points aside, I got the moonswatch and wore it til you could barely see the dial and my mission to mars strap changed color with time because I was wearing it on a daily basis for the last 2 years. Within the second year I took it to swatch and they polished the crystal and replaced both the strap and the battery and it looked brand new. I also got the atlantic ocean which I wore a whole lot outdoors they replaced the strap 4 months in free of charge. No one usually talks about how good swatch is after buying the product. The watch will last with you. The bio ceramic doesnt collect scratches like polished stainless steel either and its a lot tougher than some might think.
The problem with this is, once that movement shits the bed the watch becomes a paperweight and there for will be thrown out. A mechanical watch...... that should be serviceable.. $400+usd disposable watch, its a very hard pill to swallow knowing full well that it will only last a few years at best.
@@mickeydee3595swatch has said they can replace the movement as and when needed at cost to the user if past warranty. The watch will be as good as long as the user wants to keep and swatch remain in operation
5:53 I have the Indian Ocean and it’s my first watch with a NATO strap. After some deliberation, I folded it over the other way and slipped it under the second holder. Pull slightly and it’s perfect. Maybe that doesn’t work with smaller wrists (I’m 7.25”) but it worked for me. What I don’t like about the strap is it covers the case back so I can’t show it off when people ask me about it. I was charmed by the idea of a mechanical watch with the sea life on the rotor. 😊
You're spot on with this. Don't you love the idea of a disposable plastic watch coming from a company claiming how great they are with recycling? Hard pass.
The weirdest part about the marketing material for the Scuba Fifty is that they talk so big about how the strap is made from recycled fish nets and they want to promote sustainability and recycling, but then they hermetically seal the case and put in a non serviceable movement, therefore making their product the exact opposite of the things they're promoting.
If you want the strap to fit easily when tucking it in, run the strap “outside” the 2nd keeper, and tuck it inside it. Instead of running the strap through the 2nd keeper and the. Trying to fold it back into it. This works for me
I have a large variety of watches. From high-end pave dials to brandless Chinese tourbillons. I bought this exact same model almost a month ago. Wore it 3 times and I really enjoyed it. The history, the no-rad factor, and the mentality behind it while respecting the legacy of fifty fathoms is unreal. Swatch Group owns Blancpain (also Omega), giving a good comeback to a lesser-known but highly appreciated brand. I am far away from being a Blancpain fanboy, but I feel like you don't like the watch with no solid reason. (which is also OK) - just too much negativity with no reason explained.
Thanks a lot for travel to London by train and bying the Blancpain X Swatch. I had never thought seriously about getting one of these and thankfully I was right wasting no thoughts on this. I know how it feels, leaving the store and feeling bad having spent money on things not worth it 🙂.
Thank you for your honest unvarnished and insightful opinion. But since you were the one who paid the train fare to go buy a watch you knew you fundamentally didn't like from stuff that you didn't need to be Hands-On to know, it sounds less like Swatch got you than you got you. But I also know that feeling of not really knowing and not until you are holding and handling the object in question. Thank you for taking the plunge.
Thanks for taking one for the team, Britt. I admit to being tempted my the Mars Moonswatch. Instead I got the Pagani Design AK Project Speedmaster homage with the white dial and red bezel for $65 during an Aliexpress sale. Steel case and sapphire crystal. I threw it on a red NATO strap and it scratches that itch for a quarter of the price of the plastic toy that is the Moonswatch.
Sorry but Pagani is just fake and steals intellectual design properties from other brands, even their name is stolen from an Italian company. Just my 50 cents. And now the Pagani lovers may hit me😁
@@ttbaer69 Fair enough. The real Speedmasters don't have red bezels or the Project Alaska subdials, so I am okay with the Pagani. It's a cheap fun watch.
I find getting a Pagani homage or two before you spend the big bucks on something much more expensive is a great way to get a feel for what designs you like and what you don't on wrist.
I did manage to get hold of the blue one, took it home and was immediately disappointed to the extent that I returned it the next day. They were very surprised…I do like the look of the black one…however I was not going down the chase like I did for the moonswatch. I decided to spend my 340£ on a 1963 Omega Seamaster that I found in a Pawn shop. Needless to say, I am enjoying that piece a lot more. Great video Britt.
It’s a “cheap” plastic Swatch, but it’s cool and fun so I bought the Antarctic and the Ocean of Storms BOTH over RRP because there is no Swatch Boutique near me. When I wear one, I smile and that’s good enough for me. 😁
Same honestly, I’m a young guy and own a Datejust and I wanted a casual fun watch, this did a great job at fulfilling that gap. I do agree with the video 100%, but at the end what matters is how you feel while wearing your watch :)
These can be kind of serviced? Inasmuch as they'll replace and recycle the movement for you, so you can keep using the same case body for as long as you like.
From revolution watch We reached out to Swatch and received confirmation that the case back of the Scuba Fifty Fathoms is indeed removable, and the movement will be entirely replaced. This process is similar to how Moser replaces its modular escapement during service, with the distinction that here, the entire movement is swapped. The good news is that you no longer have to discard the entire watch.
This is a diving watch. It has a long strap so that it can also be attached to the thick sleeves of the diving suit. If you are not wearing a wetsuit, you can neatly fold it back at the wrist and tuck it under the second strap.
Thanks Britt for the heads up. I was curious and can get one easily as a friend lives close to a boutique but felt short changed by about 120 pounds on the Moon Swatch
I think these Swatch collaborations are a good idea to get people interested in watches, but the price point bothers me. It would be a fun watch to have for $100. $400 can buy a Seiko or even some decent micro-brands. Of course, prices in the watch world doesn't make sense anyway. Maybe it's their way of preparing you to spend $7000 for a real Omega or Blancpain. Lol. Also, one suggestion - try the single pass NATO strap routing configuration where you fold back the shorter leg. That is the only way I wear NATO straps anymore.
Fair comment Britt. Everything you said is 100% correct. They are beautiful but a bit bass Akward. But the nerd in me says find a way to open and remove the rivets and get out the screw threader and make it serviceable.... but that's their (Swatch Group) job.
I am thankful that I watched this video. I was really thinking of buying one because it has an automatic movement. I normally only collect mechanical watches. Now that you said it is not serviceable, it is as bad as the Moon-Swatch watch, which I wanted to but didn’t buy for this reason. This is my first time watching your video because of the subject you are discussing. I enjoyed your video because you sounded so nice and cheerful 😊
I think you're absolutely right about the movement of this watch (and the moonswatch). There's just this weird dichotomy between the sistem51 movement, which is meant to be an affordable introduction to mechanical watches, and these releases, which are meant to appeal to watch nerds. I think that swatch's quartz movement makes much more sense for the ethos of these releases: the price would be lower to make these even more appealing to people who desire these brands and can't afford their normal offerings, the watch would be serviceable so it wouldn't become landfill, and it would push people towards the fun colors since you can just throw it on whenever it tickles your fancy instead of having to fuss with winding and setting it (or wearing it daily)
Is this anything like the Moon Swatches? I went to the Swatch store when I was in Vegas. I was ready to buy…until I held it. After all the hype when it came out. No way…to me is it worth $250. If it was $150…I’d consider it. Not at $250.
It shows the inherent price premium of these Swiss watches that something which would cost less than $50 normally is priced at $400 simply for having the name Blancpain on it. In comparison, for $85 there is the steel Invicta Pro Diver with a serviceable Seiko automatic movement, or for about $145 a Pagani has sapphire glass and a milled clasp. With Blancpain for $400 there is a plastic watch, with a cheap cloth strap and a non-serviceable movement. That is the Swiss mark up premium in price.
As a society we really need to be embracing things that are less disposable, not more. One thing about watches, is that if they're looked after, they can last decades. The system 51 movement has built in countdown to failure, which for a automatic movement is egregious. And it's not like it's £20. For £400 you can get a nice automatic watch you can pass down to your kids.
Like a San Martin do you mean? Erebus Origin perhaps? I know, Seiko 5? No wait…… got it…… Tissot PRX? Must be Cristopher Ward 12? No??!! Tell me, which watch have you had serviced?👂
@@alfieakaronaldogYou have a point, however the Sistem51 is actually designed to be disposable. At least an NH35 CAN be adjusted and stripped down. Hell, you could even try learn watchmaking on one. Swatch Group likes plastic eg the plastic parts in the PRX you mention, with its unadjustable Powermatic 80 - the ‘80’ possibly standing for the number of months it’s likely to last.
@@borassictime918 You have a very good/valid point too, but which is more realistic? Yours falls short (as is so often the case) as it assumes someone buying a Scuba does not have a Seiko ; )
I think they're fun, but that's a chunk of money that could go towards something like a Longines, or a used Grand Seiko, or ... watch servicing, I guess.
I think you would have loved the arctic ocean its beautiful in all white. And as for the strap instead of tucking it inward you should fold it outwards and tuck it im the keeper it looks great with all size of wrists. Happy watch journey friend.
Hey this is a great video. Love the honesty, we all make regret purchases, I’ve made several so can really relate to this! I’d been borderline tempted on one so useful to hear the up close in person scoop! And also provides a nice contrast (light and shade) that differentiates the watches you really love! Thanks for sharing
Thoughts? Okay: -- The reason why this is a mechanical watch is to respect Blancpain's original mandate. Blancpain refuses to use quartz movements in their watches, and using Sistem51 respects that. -- For about the same price, you can get a Seiko 5 Sports "5KX" style watch. Better WR (10ATM insteand of 9.3), better lume, a serviceable movement, and better quality wrist connector (which, given Seiko's reputation, really isn't saying much). -- The best way to think about this is as a Swatch, not a Blancpain. It's definitely a Swatch you can swim with (though not a true ISO 6425 diver, those need a minimum of 10ATM WR), and some people will like the artiness of the back of the movement. Simple fact is, right now these are the *only* Swatch models with a WR rating that swimmers can feel comfortable with. -- I agree, 400US is a lot for what's essentially a fashion watch. But assuming a life expectancy of 3 years for a Swatch (and odds are pretty good a Sistem51 could go on longer), that works out to 37 cents per day for enjoyment of the feeling of wearing a Blancpain tribute.
The transparent display back is to prevent the embarrassment of any colour dyes from the plastic leeching out onto skin as was reported with the MoonSwatch after it was first released. 😂
The llug width is 21.8mm on the watch. It takes all rubber, nato and sailcloth straps of 22mm. If you use 21mm, it will leave a small gap and the strap will slide sideways a bit. The OEM fishnet strap may be 21.3mm, not the watch.
It didn't work out with the watch strap because you should have done it the other way around. Roll it outwards and the tip fits in perfectly. I agree that it's a toywatch, but on the other hand it doesn't promise more than it delivers, and it's a lot of fun. I am very pleased with the purchase.
Protip you can often fold a nato and push it though the keeper already folded. Can help if the material/watch design is preventing it going back through nicely, and actually just handy for keeping the bulge minimal and overall look neat. Yes, minimal bulge. 👌 Not sure if possible in this case as it's quite clear Swatch dgaf so could be different.
I think one thing being overlooked here is the instant feeling of buyer's remorse. I have had this happen to me on more than one occasion - most recently with a Blue Tissot PRX Power 80 40mm. I pined for that watch for over a year, waiting patiently for the hype to wane and prices to fall. I finally purchased one and couldn't wait to wear it, but the 'gap' on my 7.5 inch wrist from the integrated bracelet put me off immediately. It made an otherwise brilliant watch almost unwearable in my eyes - and I immediately flipped it within 2 weeks. It's all about how a watch "feels" for me.
I was in Melbourne this week.. swatch had all colours of the blankpain and moon watches. I was excited until I held one... Way too cheap feeling for the price. Couldn't do it
Bahaha, oh, I always feels so awkward in videos like this! I never want people to feel like I am pooping on something they love! I always try my best to best respectful when I dislike something! ;)
@@BrittPearceWatches ARCTIC OCEAN This Blancpain X Swatch watch honors Blancpain’s Fifty Fathoms, the first true diver’s watch. Its beige case and crown are made of Bioceramic material. The word “Swatch” is inscribed on the outer left side of the case. The metal dial is printed in several layers of color for a gradient effect. A special symbol can be found on the bottom part of the dial: a red trefoil on a yellow background with a white cross cutting through it. The words “NO RADIATIONS” below the logo, are a nod to the legendary Fifty Fathoms heritage and rich history of diver’s watches in the sixties. The hour indexes, hour, and minute hands, as well as the scale on the bezel, are enriched with Grade A Super-LumiNova® for outstanding legibility in the dark. The one-direction rotating beige-colored Bioceramic bezel, and biosourced glass are treated with an anti-scratch coating. The SISTEM51 mechanical movement is visible thanks to a transparent sapphire glass and features an illustration of the Arctic Ocean and the Dendronotus Frondosus nudibranch in digital print. Five inspirational inscriptions can be found on the back of the watch: PASSION FOR DIVING - LICENCE TO EXPLORE - OCEAN BREATH - PROTECT WHAT YOU LOVE and IMMERSE YOURSELF. The NATO strap is made of recycled fishing nets that were removed from the sea. The pin buckle and loops are made of Bioceramic material. £350.00
It was expensive and definitely is more plastic than ceramic, but i like the look, and, as another commenter said, it makes me smile. Just wish it was half the price for what amounts to a fashion watch.
I have a 1610 GMT. I just bought a Moonswatch and love it. Remember a service on my GMT is around $1,000. It’s cheap enough to replace if it stops. Who would service a $360 watch? It’s cost prohibitive.
I bought one but it feels too big for my 5.5 inch wrist. They should have made the Milspec and No Rad with the 40mm case designs. I like the strap but it is way too long and yes, I have the same problem as you do. Looking to replace the strap with a single pass Nato.
Britt!!! Great video. Thanks for making the sacrifice.🤣🤣 When I saw the title, I was so hoping you bought one of the Pacific/Atlantic/Indian Ocean models....with a 4:30 date window!!! But I guess you dodged that one... . 😆😆 Long the Cult(s)!!
People’s anger over System51 being non-serviceable seems a bit overblown. I wonder what proportion of mechanical watches costing less than £350 ever get serviced anyway 🤷🏻
I agree.... and for me the killer is the no service movement. How many years will you get? I bought a Moonswatch, Mission on Earth. Fun watch with a quality quartz movement. I received a Swatch Grey Pinstripe model on my 23rd birthday, in1985. It still keeps excellent time.
Yes, but still a crap movement.... With inexpensive watches like these, I'd only buy one with a quartz movement. They'll totally out last them, and keep much better time as well!
@@johnpaavo The Sistem51 movement was and is revolutionary and usually quite accurate. Since it was only introduced in the mid-2010s long-term experience is not available of course. But it is definitely not a crap movement.
These Swatch collaborations are just a money grabbing exercise. Paying $400 for a plastic watch that can't be repaired or serviced just to get a decent Swiss brand name on your wrist, is totally insane. When it goes wrong, it goes in the bin, not very eco friendly. For that price, you can buy a damn good watch made from stainless steel that will last a lifetime. I totally agree with your video and I would never buy a plastic toy.
I have several Blancpain x Swatch Fifty Fathoms and the more I wear them, the more I like them. I think there are great watches. The quality is fine, much better than the MoonSwatch. There is a better method to fold the nato strap.
Can’t say that I’m a fan of plastic watches, however I am an Omega fan boy, Swatch really need to stop with the imitations. Just buy a Swatch, if you wanna plastic watch. Love your channel btw, always great content👍
Thanks for you sacrifice.. although I wouldn't have bought one, mostly because I bought a Moonswatch and sold it a few days later because I felt like I had a kids toy on my wrist. I'd rather save for a couple months/years and buy a real Moonwatch or something else to be honest. It feels like these collabs are not better than the fashion brands watches (at least for the price they're asking for).
I was very fortunate to get the Ocean of Storms Blancpain and I love everything about it. Yes, it was a splurge but I would rather have this watch than the Omega Speedmaster
Had absolutely the same dilemma when I bought one with my wife present and I just gifted it her for her birthday a month ago. Would have picked the Antarctic but only the Arctic (2nd choice as no date and dots indexes not "teeth") was in stock at Oxford St. OK, nice memento of our trip down to London to see Madonna the night before, but the watch cost about the same as one ticket. Thankfully hotel and train were unexpensive. Strap immediately changed for orange Isofrane copy, but still not finalised on the overall aesthetic. I keep persuading her she likes it and it can be knocked at school without worries and will still be ticking on Monday after wearing something classier for the weekend. Original strap now on our car keys, but may well lose them on a deck chair in the summer. I'm adding to my own collection by proxy purchases which we can share, and the slope's starting to get more slippery... Wish I'd had the speed and resources for the Hodinkee special, but now waiting for a blue 50 Phantoms to arrive next month. Enjoying the reviews...
@@Alf_Becker If you search up Spinnaker Fleuss 50 Phantoms there was a limited edition black version followed by a limited order period blue version. Glad I never got caught up in the ordering debacle of the black one (which didn't appeal), and appreciative they saw fit to follow up with a blue on by way of an apology. While not as limited, the blue one is more to my taste, and more dressy than my Steeldive 1952 homage. I don't really do "close" homages, although recently ordered a Doxa 600T copy/homage from Seestern to see what a bracelet would look like on my steel original. I'll transplant the OE rubber strap onto the homage, which is ironic since that strap would theoretically be worth more than the watch it's on (and the colour's more vibrant).
Swatch vs Fossil, DW, Diesel, Boss etc is a no brainer They do have good stuff and these collaborations remind us to take a look. I enjoyed my visit to the Swatch shop in Covent Garden....then walked round the corner to the G-Shock shop on Carnaby Street and left with a Full Metal Square.
Great video, I happen to be in Town today and was going to toddle over bright and early for the ten o clock opening of the Covent Garden shop. Now I know the movement is riveted I won't be bothering!
I think their "ecological" message is messed up if after spending ~$400 USD your watch will become garbage after a couple years and probably end up back in the ocean. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us I recently subscribed to your channel and I'm enjoying the content, keep up the good work :)
I had the same experience trying to fold the strap back through the keeper. Fun fact: those aren’t springbars, they’re Panerai-esque screwbars. You need miniature Allen wrenches to get them off.
I went to a Swatch store and they had them there to try on (exhibition only, who else was doing that again...? 🤔). They felt like toys, light like a feather. I also didn't like the landfill they represent. The general idea should be by now to make things well that are long lasting. This Swatch might be for wealthy collectors who don't mind spending £350 multiple times to get the whole line-up and who maybe have the real thing too. In a way this is a luxury watch, as paying £350 for a plastic watch like this is only possible when you have a lot of money.
Also not to be annoying but ceo of swatch has said in bloomberg that the movement will be recyclable, like their free battery changes in store it could potentially mean that you give back your existing model and give you a fresh one instead of complete service. Swatch take the components from your watch to potentially make a new watch. What they do with case i'm not sure? but it might become more apparent once these movements start to go.
Thank you Britt for saving me some money before I fall into this trend. Quick technical question tho, if this is 2/3 ceramic, why does it feel more like plastic? Is the plastic shell supposed to protect the ceramic underneath?
Appreciate your detailed views on this. It does look and feel plasticky and when you mentioned the case back being riveted, I think that's really a bit strange for an automatic watch. Thanks for sharing.
For the strap, try going around the outside and then tucking the excess back through (under). This way the strap is only passing through the keeper one time. takes some getting use to but works well. Also thanks for buying the watch so I didn’t have to. ahah.. I was mildly interested in it when it launched but the movement not being serviceable was the nail is the coffin for me. Making a watch that is supposed to be about conservation and getting rid of plastic waste in the ocean that is itself plastic and ultimately disposable is such vapid pursuit and imo makes the collab a bit soulless to me. I would genuinely be singing a different tune if the swatch movement could be serviced… even if I couldn’t do it through swatch.
Bought the Indian Ocean version. It is a fun watch to wear. The NATO strap is cheap, replaced it with a rubber strap that matches the green case, looks good, has a tang buckle. To me it is a fun beater i can wear to the beach and in the water.
I love the concept of the watch, and I think they look pretty neat. I hate the fact that it’s an unserviceable throwaway watch, though. This is not something I can make memories with & pass on to my kids.
Oh dear... that's not a watch for me. Has nothing to do with the price but all about the look and feel 😬 This is just too... uhhh, cannot say that here 🤪 But I also get it when someone does like it (maybe)... then go for it 😀 Lovely video again Britt, keep them coming 🤩
Love your review! I have both the Antarctica and Ocean of Storms, i flipped the nato towards the buckle end while using the other keeper to hold it in place. Do agree that the tolerance of the keepers are extremely tight. Regarding lug size, I could fit a 22mm strap or nato between the lugs though, i measured it with a vernier at 21.8mm. And to add on, I tested both my pieces on a timegrapher and it runs within a tolerance within +/- 2s which is extremely impressive to me.
Love this review. Was looking to get one of these but when you really think about it.. besides the looks which I personally didn't mind.. practically not worth the money especially if you can't service it 😅
I bought the black one and its a naughty little watch. Perfect to throw on in the evenings and the odd day when I want a different look. Bioceramic (plastic) is much more hardy than regular plastic too. More people would enjoy if they lived with it for a while
I love that it’s plastic, it’s just way overpriced. I recently enjoyed walking through security in Chicago, Frankfort, Cairo, Aswan, and Amman with my “gold” Casio “Royale” Worldtimer programmed with each time zone, and the alarm meant never being late during my grueling schedule. It did get a bit foggy after an hour in the Red Sea but it cleared up by the time I made it to the Dead Sea. Next trip I’ll bring a spare Tide Graph model in my dop kit for water sports.if I lose one I’ll just buy another. My “good” watches are just for looking at now. I should sell them to find more adventures.
Own this same piece. About the strap. You need to wrap the strap or flip at the end in the opposite direction. I think you had it backwards. About the movement Swatch can replace it for a new one. The case back can be opened. Doesn’t matter it’s not serviceable.
I’ve watched many of your videos. Recently I discovered a brand that has a tenth. The Chinese brand was founded in 1988. TIANWANG brand of Hong Kong listed company. I ordered a dive watch. 200 meters waterproof automatic mechanical watch. Product quality is very good. the most important is. They provide two years of after-sales service. If there is any problem, just replace it with a new one. Makes me very at ease. I'd love for you to do a video on it. I think it's really worth it
G’day Britt, Just want to say I love your channel and I can say without offending anyone, a chick with the finite appreciation for the horological aspects of what we enjoy and appreciate, you deliver… I bought an Omega moon swatch what I thought I would never do as I find it quite condescending to what the brand moon watch was based around and as I ummmed and arrred, I went there. At first my the unboxing of the item gave me me the heebee jeebee’s but after six months, I actually enjoy this plastic piece, it’s unassuming, visible and comfortable and I think Swatch hit the nail on the head and the same be said with your new piece… it’s bizarre but it works, strangely, but I quite enjoy my moon swatch as I’m sure you will enjoy Blacpain swatch Cheers 👊
I have an original Swatch system 51 from 2013 and it works perfectly today as it always has and keep very good time. So when you say it can't be serviced I agree but at the same time a plastic watch that works perfectly fine 11 years later surely is a little help to the environment. Rather than the thousands and thousands of apple watches with harmful batteries and components that will be land fill, and no one is saying hay apple what happens when this watch dies. The Swatch on the other hand is a small amount of plastic and metal .the metal parts will eventually rust away. And the plastic will remain. But remember it is made from some recycled materials so less new plastic is being used and it may not be perfect but it is a step in the right direction. Unlike apple. I know for sure my old Swatch will out live any apple watch for many year. In the meantime how many Apple watches will already be in landfills. Compared to Swatch.
Thank you for the review...now I don't feel bad about buying the Chinese made Seagull 1963 hand wind chronograph with the ST1901 movement based on the Venus 175 caliber.
I have one, and I love it. It isn't close to the quality of my Omega, but it isn't supposed to be. I love that it is mechanical instead of quartz. The watch wears well and I don't have any issues with the Nato band. The power reserve is fantastic! I change watches every day. I picked this watch up after 3 days and it was still on time. I wasn't expecting that. If you can afford $400, and you like how it looks I recommend it.
I bought the Blancpain x Swatch watch a month ago and wore it for only a week, I realised I wasted my money on this watch. Because it looked too childish on my wrist. Like a toy watch, one day my son wears this watch and surprisingly it looks good on his wrist then gave it to my 12-year-old son!
I’m sure the folks at Swatch are very grateful that you are making any kind of video featuring the watch you bought and paid for with your own hard earned money. Even if you are the only one making or watching this video that actually bought one of these things, they still sold a watch. You can always sell it or donate it to a charity auction for a tax write off 😊!
I got the same colorway and was lucky to be one of the first people in my city to get one, and within the first month, the bezel has trouble with rotating :(
Hope they have a good return policy.....keep that receipt! I'd rather get the armitron wave if I wanted a disposable watch made out of reclaimed sea waste plastic....and it costs $80-95'ish.

Cut the strap length to the keeper length and seal the cut end with a lighter ( practice on the piece you cut off . Leaves all natos much tidier.
We’ve all made purchases that we regret. The thing is that we must learn from those mistakes. Don’t beat yourself up.
Anyone with half a brain already knew this watch is garbage. She bought it to make content.
I was told in a swatch store that the movement can be replaced. So, you don't have to throw away your watch.
Really?! This is good news.
A lot of watches that claim their movements can be serviced in fact just chuck them out and replace them. Just ask Tissot …
Yea they're a waste of money. Trash movement and trash case compared to the pagani
It scratches the itch with a scratch proof sapphire crystal and the steel case won’t scratch as much as a bioceramic aka plastic case of that swatch.
You found a 1963 seamaster for £340? That’s a score
Aww I think I'm the only one: I like my indian ocean one, that green pops!
Got the same. I'm loving it
It’s a “cheap” plastic Swatch, but it’s cool and fun so I bought the Antarctic and the Ocean of Storms BOTH over RRP because there is no Swatch Boutique near me. When I wear one, I smile and that’s good enough for me. 😁
As long as it makes you smile that's all that matters. 😊
From revolution watch
We reached out to Swatch and received confirmation that the case back of the Scuba Fifty Fathoms is indeed removable, and the movement will be entirely replaced. This process is similar to how Moser replaces its modular escapement during service, with the distinction that here, the entire movement is swapped. The good news is that you no longer have to discard the entire watch.
yeah I wonder how much that would cost since you're only keeping over the case
This is a diving watch. It has a long strap so that it can also be attached to the thick sleeves of the diving suit. If you are not wearing a wetsuit, you can neatly fold it back at the wrist and tuck it under the second strap.
Her little side comments are hilarious. “The train fare alone.” And a great laugh.
I have a green one, and i like it! 😎
Britt……a very good honest opinion ……from one watch collector to another
It shows the inherent price premium of these Swiss watches that something which would cost less than $50 normally is priced at $400 simply for having the name Blancpain on it.
What do you mean you can’t service it ? I’ve read you can just replace the entire movement with another sistem
Very good video Britt. I like honesty and sincere opinions. I am also conflicted with the good / bad contradictions in this watch. Thks !
@@alfieakaronaldogI'd rather have a San Martin rather than more plastic trash
👍
Thoughts? Okay:
-- The reason why this is a mechanical watch is to respect Blancpain's original mandate.
I might get the new black one if a happen to see one. Wont be rushing to get it as the whole it is plastic and will some day die issue.
Great vid as always Britt. Love the idea of a Christmas tree ornament! My moonswatch purchase was not in vain lol!
Not sure if possible in this case as it's quite clear Swatch dgaf so could be different.
Couldn't do it
You dont need to apologize for not liking something! Great video
Bahaha, oh, I always feels so awkward in videos like this! I never want people to feel like I am pooping on something they love! I always try my best to best respectful when I dislike something! ;)
@@BrittPearceWatches i understand that! Hopefully one day my channel will be big enough to where i have to worry about that😂

This Blancpain X Swatch watch honors Blancpain’s Fifty Fathoms, the first true diver’s watch.
The “outlive” us part really gets me, I loooove this
I've got my Dad's mechanical watch, and my Granddad's, both still working. I'll probably pass them on to my grandkids .
The Swatch will outlive us too. It will still sit in the landfill hundreds of years from now, not deteriorating a bit.
@@heiner71this, exactly this ^
I have a 1610 GMT.
0.5 percent.
I agree.... and for me the killer is the no service movement. How many years will you get? I bought a Moonswatch, Mission on Earth. Fun watch with a quality quartz movement. I received a Swatch Grey Pinstripe model on my 23rd birthday, in1985. It still keeps excellent time.
A lot of years in my experience with that movement.
And should it really stop working some day in the distant it can be replaced here.
It’s amazing just how many times you rolled up your sleeves during this video.
Why not simply replace the movement? 🤔
I have several Blancpain x Swatch Fifty Fathoms and the more I wear them, the more I like them. I think there are great watches.
The quality is fine, much better than the MoonSwatch. There is a better method to fold the nato strap.
Is that like saying a polished turd is better than a turd?
I wonder how it will do after 5 years of use . Looking at it I am thinking an after market white ceramic strap would look good
Can’t say that I’m a fan of plastic watches, however I am an Omega fan boy, Swatch really need to stop with the imitations.
Just buy a Swatch, if you wanna plastic watch.
Love your channel btw, always great content👍
Except for the constant chatter about Rolex. That gets so damn boring.
Spot on review Britt! For $400 USD you can get into a much nicer timepiece than a plastic faux watch. Love your channel, keep it real, keep it honest!
50 Phantoms? Where do they come from?
Boss watches are fashion watches made by Movado. Just get a Movado instead.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us
I recently subscribed to your channel and I'm enjoying the content, keep up the good work :)
I'm sooo going to buy that watch! Love swatch.
Jesus, your hair is on POINT in this video.
Swatch said the watch’s movement can now be replaced in their center in Swiss. Game changer?
Have always loved and truly appreciate your honesty.
That part I don't get, just like Seiko and Citizen movements. They are so cheap u just replace the movement and that's it.
Has nothing to do with the price but all about the look and feel 😬 This is just too... uhhh, cannot say that here 🤪
But I also get it when someone does like it (maybe)... then go for it 😀
Lovely video again Britt, keep them coming 🤩
Bahaha EDWIN IS HEEEERE!
Thanks for taking one for the team Britt
Very fair review. For me, if it had a serviceable movement, I would've considered it.
I have a nice Casio MRW 200H "dive style" watch. It cost 25 bucks and looks like a Rolex next to this. Are you sure it's not edible?
Love this review. Was looking to get one of these but when you really think about it.. besides the looks which I personally didn't mind.. practically not worth the money especially if you can't service it 😅
Moding moon swatch with steel cases is happening-which only matter of time b4 these get hotrod versions.
I tried on the Ocean of Storms last week and it was massive on my wrist, so decided against it, not for me.
Own this same piece. About the strap. You need to wrap the strap or flip at the end in the opposite direction. I think you had it backwards. About the movement Swatch can replace it for a new one. The case back can be opened. Doesn’t matter it’s not serviceable.
Right, so the movement gets....recycled since it's plastic?
really wanted to get the newer black one, be opted for a moded seiko fifthy five fathons watch.. at least it is not plastic
I think it's really worth it
G’day Britt,
Just want to say I love your channel and I can say without offending anyone, a chick with the finite appreciation for the horological aspects of what we enjoy and appreciate, you deliver…
I bought an Omega moon swatch what I thought I would never do as I find it quite condescending to what the brand moon watch was based around and as I ummmed and arrred, I went there. At first my the unboxing of the item gave me me the heebee jeebee’s but after six months, I actually enjoy this plastic piece, it’s unassuming, visible and comfortable and I think Swatch hit the nail on the head and the same be said with your new piece… it’s bizarre but it works, strangely, but I quite enjoy my moon swatch as I’m sure you will enjoy Blacpain swatch
Cheers 👊
OK, but what will happen after some period of time with that un-serviceable movement? Xmas decoration?
The opening of your comment.....it's not based on an Omega.
Thanks for your sacrifice, we salute you, Watch Gringa!
Is Bio-ceramic plastic with bits?🤨
