Peter, What a difference in the fight from 12.5" to 14"...... That extra 1.5" doubles the power... Best part? At the end, after you taste it.... pause..... wait.... "Perfect !" Hee hee hee....
🤣🤣 it was perfect, im always afraid it'll be too spicy for the kids but it wasnt! Totally agree on the porgy power, once they get above 14" they get turbo charged
Just caught my first Porgy in Years! Never tried to eat them though. Recipe looks nice and easy, I will try it out, without all the hot sauce though,,,,,,maybe a little.
haha nnice! I guess they arent very prevalent in the NJ area, at least close to shore...yeah go for it and dont worry the hot sauce isnt too spicy after its cooked in the oil
@@PeterRanieriII I will give it a shot. Never catch them at my 2 local reefs but we motored 20 miles north and caught it there, probably 8 miles away from Brooklyn. Haven't caught one in years since I was on a party boat in that area.
Hey miles, I think they should be moving deeper soon but idk, they may stay shallower if the bait is there...this upcoming weekend if I'm able to get out in the middle sound I will likely try a little deeper say 50-70' and see if they are there, if not I will go shallower and look for bait.
Residential beach on the north shore but you can look up public Dec launch sites on google though, there are some close by and you’ll fish essentially the same areas
this is on the northshore of long island NY - this is the long Island sound and I typically fish the middle region or western region. Cool to see people from other areas watching the videos, I will try to be better at describing the general area.
Hey Greg, I did a short video on the setup here: th-cam.com/video/ewCQ1A0ABwU/w-d-xo.html and although I've modified the stability a little now with arms that stick out, the mount is still the same
@@rumdab i think the longest was about 6 hours in the sun, the ice was melting a little, but my fish still stayed good. I just don't think it could last much more than that, especially with a few fish in there. but I'd say most soft coolers arent going to keep fish ice cold all day in the sun
@@PeterRanieriII dang, I coincidentally ordered the Buffalo bagpack a few days ago, so hopefully, it'll last a little bit longer lol, thanks for the detailed response
Usually don't target Porgies but they are fun to catch oz for oz. Raising some beautiful future fisherman!
thanks William, they are keeping me active and on my toes, thats for sure!
Love the catch clean cooks!
Glad you like them Kolby, thanks for the feedback! 🤙
Underwater shots are wonderful!
I will definitely try your porgie recipe! Greetings from Gio, Western Long Island Sound.
Hope you enjoy it Gio!

Hey Pete, what depth would you recommend fishing for sea bass in the middle sound from now until the end of August?

Where do you launch the kayak? I wanted to try this as well but having a hard time finding a spot to launch

Where do you launch the kayak? I am from Michigan, no idea where "Middle Sound" is.

Here before you blow up bro🏆
Haha I doubt that’ll happen. Appreciate ya 👊
Hey Pete do you know what size hook is on those 3/8 jigs? TIA
I'm pretty sure they are 3/0 hooks 👍
What kind of bait are you using.. those are artificial worms??
Correct they are artificial worms and artificial jerk shads
How do you setup that gopro to video underwater on your line?

@@PeterRanieriII hey, thanks for the reply. I appreciate the setup video.
What brand is that cooler on the kayak?
I think its called buffalo: amzn.to/3WlL6aC its a great cooler for the price, does the job for me for half day trips
@@PeterRanieriII Ty, also have you tried using it for the whole day?
