Man i really like this Harley Softail Standard... I remember when this was released i thought it was awesome... Harley hit it out of the park with this bikes price point for a brand new Big twin..
With all you know now, would you do it all over again?... I am thinking about going to a Street Bob, minus all the goodies, standard.. Be my first Harley if all goes well.

Yep.....i love mine! I also have an 05 xl 1200c. Love it also. But that M8! Oh boy. I cant stay off it. I work 12hr days. Had it for 2 1/2 months and have 2230mi on it. Great bike.

I'm going to guess the heat retention on the Saddlemen is coming from the Saddle Gel they use. I have the Saddlemen Explorer on my FXLRS and I can confirm that once that seat gets hot, it does NOT cool back down. I may start carrying a towel around to cover the seat while I'm at work or parked somewhere...or move away from Saddlemen.
See now that’s exactly what ppl told me the day I bought the 2020 road king special. “First thing u MUST change the seat “ Iv went on two 11+ hour trips. And I haven’t had a single issue with the stock seat.
And that right there is the reason Harley puts a stock seat on that they know everyone will change at the time of purchase, It's also the reason that seat prices are outrageous. Because they know that it will be the first thing they can get you to change, I also have a 2020 Softtail standard with the stock seat and have no problems with it! the only reason I would consider changing it out is if I had a someone that needed to be a passenger, I myself find this to be a good excuse to not have a passenger.

I'm 5'11" and had one as a loaner while my glide was getting serviced. I felt like a teenager riding a tricycle with the mid controls. Maybe with forward controls, but if your over 5'8" not comfortable. I will say that very fast and nimble bike.
Great review. What kind of air cleaner does it have? The license plate looks cool. I have a 2020 Softail Standard and love it I added a Sundowner seat, passenger pegs and a sissy bar. Stage one after the warranty runs out next month.
Good review I do think they are pretty good bike, I sat on one and I seemed bit crunched up with the mid controls, but that not a hard fix. If person wants black it great bike and afordable.
@@FlipNA I cannot recal if the Standard I looked at had stock seat or not, but sat on Street Bob with forward controls and seat similar to Saddleman step up and it felt pretty good.
Hey buddy I know I’m late to the game, but your bars, did you have to do a cable kit? That’s the only thing I’m lacking on my 21 FXST and I can’t afford to get it wrong time wise or financially. Do you know the max height and or riser combo I can go with?

Flip your seat stays hot because it right on top of the oil tank. My breakout is the same way. It will roast your butt fast. My sportster was under seat but i think it was a plastic tank and the way it was shaped it didn't go around under the whole seat. These are all metal and wrap around under the seat. So they stay hotter.
That gauge has grown on me also. It may have to do with the fact that my Heritage gauge fogs up on me when I am riding. Clears up within a few minutes of me stopping, so Harley won't do anything about it. I still don't like the T-bars and fairing though. Just not my style.
I am looking for an exhaust system that will add some sound but will not require tuning and will not void my warranty. Any suggestions? 2020 softtail standard

I talk to Beth on the phone because next week we are supposed to come down the Florida for four days and I had nowhere to park my trailer to bring my Triglide with us and I called the Harley Davidson dealership there and talk to Beth and she said it would not be an issue for me to park my trailer and the Triglide there when I’m not using it even though the trailer would be blocked in from the big weekend events for the OCC grand opening where they’re going to have a lot of vehicles and trailers parked.
If they called that the Softail Classic they would sell so many more of them .... nobody wants a standard, but a classic, damned right people want that

Nice I just got a 2021 softtail standard a month ago I traded my 2014 883 in for it I have done a couple of up grades 🏍🍻

Love my 2020 FXST! Many mods and Yes….the first one was a seat!! 💪🏽 I put Biltwell apes on it and definitely made the right choice! Hell yeah Flip!
This is my next bike. I'll customize it as I go. Mini cowl, highway bars, saddleman two up seat, sissy bar and Viking Bags hard saddlebags.

The Saddlemen Renegade Solo seat fixes that issue.

The heat in the seat is most likely the gel layer, gel is very dense so it will hold it's temps much longer, think mashed potatoes vs like toast

Those are a harder seat that takes a while to break in (kind of like a ball glove). More you ride it, the better the Saddelmen seat gets.
I'm surprised they didn't install a performance air intake.
