    I just bought a 2023 Softail Standard this year, and I will attest that this bike is one of the nicest softails Harley has ever made. The Milwaukee 8 107 has a ton of power and is nothing short of phenomenal.

    Here's my take as a guy approaching 60 years old.... the seat, yeah its not the best by no means..I traded my electraglide in for one of these. It was a 2004 88 inch 5 speed.. At my age, this bike needs no more performance..it very torquey. Its light ( why I traded, my back injury is catching up) and it has plenty of power to get around cars at the drop of a hat. My forward controls are perfect. Ill probably eventually replace the seat, but I found some Basani slip ons ill be putting on. With the daytripper tall back rest, a Bluetooth soundbar installed, and a detachable windshield, my bike is all but complete and trip ready.
    I was cruising around yesterday and thought id get into the throttle more than normal....The bike jumped from 70 mph to 110 in no time with more throttle just waiting on me but I backed her down. The bike weighs like 50 or 60 pounds more than a sportster. Blockhead was right when he was talking about the weight difference. Ive only owned dressers and a Heritage before, the ability to move this bike around was a huge selling point for me.. in the next ten years, ill have to move to a tri glide. Its coming I know, but until then, ill be enjoying 2 wheels any way I can. Ride safe fellers!

  • @ConradLarsonGaming
    @ConradLarsonGaming 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I was told by a mate who works at Harley that the 107 is the better engine for the softail because the gearbox doesn't play as nice with the 114. The 114 is the better engine for the tourers.

    • @quomofo1
      @quomofo1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also the 107 feels “snappier” then the 114. It pulls harder in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Where the 114 has the advantage is in the highway. It pulls harder in 5th and 6th (more passing power).

      Gerald Anderson - I understand what your preference and many others preferences are, but that defeats the purpose, doesn’t it? Adding things here and there drives the price up (USB, mag wheels, larger tank, etc,) and the point of the bike as a ‘Standard’ is making it a cost efficient entry level Softail.

You don’t like harleys fairings? That’s cool you can get your own elsewhere. Only thing I don’t like is it only comes in black. I’d love one in white. But that’s what’s great about it. I can definitely see a market for this bike, but for me I would probably opt for the Street Bob. I prefer the black over the chrome and even though I would change a lot on either one I would spend more than the $1000 difference just in blacking out the parts I wouldn't change on the Street Bob. For someone who wanted to save the extra money this would be a better option. My biggest complaint is the gas tank. It isn't even the size that bothers me so much as the look of the tank. Looks too much like the 1200 Custom or the Street 750 tank. I think maybe a tank lift would improve it.

      I traded my 2019 iron 1200 in for a standard. What kinda riding were you thinking about doing? I mean if you wanna do the same kinda riding you did on your sportster like me, go for it. Because the softail standard is just better in every way, the suspension is just so much better, the bike doesn't vibrate the piss outta you over 55mph like my sporty did

      @@SooHighFashion I wanna go on longer rides and have a bit more power. The standard seems like an obvious upgrade.

      @@victorvigorous7125 the gas tank on the standard is 3.5gal BTW, what is a longer ride for you? Keep in mind by the time you need gas, you'll most likely already be ready to get the hell off the bike lol yeah the standard is just a bigger and better sportster

    @blockhead I reached out to Ruroc because your discount code wasn’t working. They responded back in email that they have made the decision to discontinue all influencer codes. Just a heads up.

    I'm interested in it but I don't hear any options for ABS? It's also a let down not having dual disc brakes. I assume that would be hard to upgrade to. I'm not a fan of the spoked wheels, I think alloy would be better. It's still a lot of money for a stripped down bike.
    This bike is also in the price range for a Scout. At least Indian makes it easier to get ABS on a Scout though.

      You can get abs on it no problem but more cash those brakes r good even with one disk

    I really enjoy your bike review videos. So thorough, except one thing. You mention your height, but not your inseam (at least not that I can recall). I'm 5'8" with a 32" inseam and I have a friend who is also my height but with a 30" inseam and bikes fit differently between us. So inseam would be valuable I think. Anyway, excellent review as always!

    Stages should come from the factory as engine is too expensive to modify. Bikes still depreciate so want to limit too much additional depreciating aftermarket parts.
