    This is the closest to a video any one of us average bikers would make, so it is very easy to relate to it. No brainwashing, no crap marketing, but facts from first hand. Thank you and enjoy your new beauty

    A wise man once told me, "bhp is all about how fast you hit a wall, torque is all about how much of the wall you take with you". I just bought a Lowrider S, waiting for forward controls from HD, I'm not tall but old, the legs don't bend so well. Keep getting the smiles per mile.

      @Leon Wilcox I drove trucks for 35 years, in that time the engines got bigger and bigger. 240 bhp for a series B ERF in early 1980s 32 tonnes, max weight then a few years later 38 t then 42t now 44t to 530bhp when I retired last year, not the biggest engines to be found in trucks just ordinary workhorses which many haulage companies chose, all of them had mind blowing acceleration if no trailer attached, The problem wasn't low bhp it was speed limiters, 62mph mid 80s 56 mph later and now many hauliers limit to 54mph to save fuel. Plenty of bhp but too much load and legislation is the real problem

    I think many people will wake up to what a great motorcycle this really is (thanks to these videos). This has to be, as you point out, the Harley that provides the most value for money. Love the wheels with chrome spokes. Black and chrome just look right. A timeless machine. Already a classic. And that powerful V-Twin engine!! - Looking forward to the next Harley-Davidson Softail episodes. Excellent bike choice in my view.

    My 2003 softail standard twin cam has about the same hp number as your 2021 detuned bike! It’s plenty. Mine arrived with Vance and Hines straight pipes that were too loud. I put the stockers back on for that HD sound. It’s a low rumble that shakes the ground without blowing out my ears. Perfect!

  • @edturnbull8858

    Congrats on passing your test & may you have many happy miles on the new bike.
    I’ve had my Street Bob for just over three years now & I still love it. In more than forty years of riding it’s the bike that still puts the biggest grin on my face (though the 50cc Honda Cub I bought in 1980 runs it a close 2nd; seriously).
    Got to agree with you on the marketing of your bike: should definitely have been named the ‘Street Bob Classic’, for that’s exactly what it is: a 107 SB with the classic black ‘n’ chrome look.

    Nice simple video. No frills. No sales pitch. Just an honest review. I'm looking at returning to bikes after 26 years.Passed my test back in the 80's and spent 6 years as an instructor in the 90's.Stopped riding when I met the Mrs,so miss being on a bike.Had the big sports bikes and sports tourers CBR1000,ZX10,Z1000MK2.Also had a GS850 Rat bike and a GS550 Rat bike .Plus the usual GSX250R , GSX250, GP100 small cc stuff. Always wanted a Harley so I have been looking at the 2022 version with the MAG wheels and one with a Custom Paint job .After watching this I am convinced this is the bike I need. Also nice to see a bike being reviewed in my local area rather than on the big open roads of the USA. Thought it might be a bit big for the Leicestershire/Rutland roads.Just need to persuade the Mrs to let me have one. Wish me luck.

    Nice video, good idea. That H-D is a decent bike even as restricted, I totally believe it. Torque is much more important than he top-rev hp in everyday riding.
    And that was hilarious to look at the couple riding the whatever it was in the beginning. I first thought there was only one hanging his toes...

    I recognise those roads , yes I'm from Leicester , I bought a couple of Harleys from Sycamore ( a Superglide 06 and a Heritage in 08 ) I sold them on and went to Triumph , been there ever since 2011 . I went from a Heritage to a Rocket 3 touring and then to a Thunderbird LT in 2014 which I still have . Good to see a lad your age into Harleys , makes a change , they get under your skin, I would still like to own a Harley again one day , I do like that softtail standard of yours apart from the front brake , single disc is not enough on a bike that heavy IMO . Road King is the best bike in the range all round IMO .

    • @deantaylor1512

      They certainly get under your skin ... got my first one back in 86 ... and five later I have a 09 street bob ... ridden.. borrowed other bikes but always wanted to get back on me Harley ...
      Mind you I still miss my old Triumph t140v...loved that but sadly part ex for my first sporty ...

    The videos on this channel are great. I like how they are created. Firstly, viewers want to know about the bikes and what someone thinks about them. Secondly, we want to see the bikes. Not only do you show them sitting stationary but you also show them passing by and behind the bars. Well done. Other reviewers (for lack of a better word) should take a page from your book. I have the same 107 standard. I got the saddlemen seat because as you find when yours is unrestricted , it has some serious kick and if you get on it in the wind with the little seat you better hold on tight. With the saddlemen it does it for you. It doesnt make the bike look to big in my opinion. I just think it needed a slighty bigger tire on the back from the factory.

    I rode my first HD yesterday. It was a 2021 Softail Standard. A visceral feeling of torque and connection to the road. Absolutely loved it. But my 57 year old body can't sit in that posistion for long. Also drove the new Sportster S and Nightster. They are both refined modern motorcycles. Now I need mid controls and an upright posistion. Maybe they'll do that soon.

    Understand the history of this model. In the mid 2000’s the standard was the entry level Softail in Harley’s lineup. You could upgrade to the Custom which gave you a black engine with polished cooling fin ends and a lot more chrome (I owned a 2008 model). There was no Fat Bob back then so, in the States there is some logic to the name “Standard”.

    This was one bike I was hoping you guys would review. I have a 2020 Road Glide but am looking to step down to a lighter bike that is more maneuverable around parking lots and starting and stopping. I love the Road Glide but at 71 I am thinking might be better for the next few years. Looking at this one, the Street Bob and the Speedmaster. Not sure about the Nightster. Thanks for what you guys do.

    Based on the tracking shots in the video, the bike sounds lovely with its stock exhausts (and they look beautiful too). You hear of owners 'upgrading' to V&H pipes (other makes are available...) and then ditching them because they're uncomfortably loud when riding. I'd think twice before making that change.

    • @MrDarcy-OlMan

      @@MrDarcy-OlMan I respectfully disagree, my 2020 Standard has custom handle bars, sissy bar, V&H big shot exhaust, forward front foot controls, 2 inch tank rise, and some other small things like HD derby and air cleaner covers, and all new parts are gloss black. I had a 883 sportster that was black and I chromed it out, went with a different direction with my new bike. But to each is own, if you love the stock look, God bless, just for me I liked the customization of my bike, when HD came out with this bike, said to myself I could make this bike my dream bike, and who said dreams can't come true!!

    @MrAndrew1953 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have ridden one of these and Harley have taken an entirely different approach to the sports- cafe racer. Most riders change the pipes(Vance and Hines)seat with padding, Z bars/ Risers, add saddle bags, better breathing air filter. For now it’s a very good choice for a novice in that it doesn’t encourage you to speed - just enjoy the ride. Later on you could add a stage 3 performance kit and go through life enjoying 1 road bike. Have a 4 -500 trail bike for off road adventure riding. A basic car like a small station wagon/estate car is handy- before the trail bike.

    • @MrDarcy-OlMan

      Wise words, yes something for the future. Unfortunately can’t do any tuning of the engine as it has to be restricted!

    • @MrAndrew1953
      @MrAndrew1953 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrDarcy-OlMan . Annoying about the restrictions but that situation isn’t permanent and rather than changing bikes, which is expensive- with that bike, you can add parts that make it more enjoyable, run better. Even if Harley closed up, it’s a bike you could still get parts for , for a long time. It happens, I had one of the last Triumph Tigers in ‘82.

I love having forward controls and a Vtwin and a comfortable riding position.. Can i strongly suggest that you have cruise control fitted and of course the saddleman step up seat. It’s not a big one and it will firmly anchor you to the bike when you administer that Goliath torque and is far more comfy than the stock, its good for the lady friend too. . I had mine ceramic coated as well, which is also amazing, cleaning is a breeze. I love my streetbob and i completely get your enthusiasm. Ride safe mate and congratulations

    Torque is power, it is what HP is derived from; Torque * RPM/5151 = HP. The key is that most people aren't riding around at 8,000 RPM, so a Harley at 2500 RPM is producing more HP at that RPM than the vast majority of Bikes on the road. Max HP is a marketing scam. It is only reaches at one point in the rev range that is almost never achieved. Torque is the gift that keeps giving
