    I snagged one on Monday just because I could finally find a great rifle in 6mm Creedmoor. I love that cartridge and the industry has left it behind even though it’s very popular among predator hunters and competition shooters. Finally, I have a hunting companion to go with my PRS rifle.

    You should consider doing your grouping drills on squares or triangles. Aiming at the same spot on a circle with the center dot is harder to repeat POA.

    • @kellym3531
      @kellym3531 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Maybe he is. You can aim at the very top, bottom, or sides of a circle. Maybe not quite as precise as a point, but better than the randomness of a black hole. Your point is well taken.

    I have a B14 Wilderness Ridge .308, my next bolt gun is going to be a 30-06 to replace my old Winchester model 70 30-06 that I regrettably sold. I was going to buy another Model 70, but after seeing this and knowing how much I like my Bergara .308, this is now the rifle I’m replacing the Model 70 with. Bergara rifles have become one of my favorite rifle brands hands down.

    This looks a lot like Bergara's version of the CVA Cascade LRH. Same parent company, so it makes sense. Bergara if you want R700 intercompatibility, CVA if you want to save a little money, want a mag off the bat, or prefer the 60 degree bolt or the aesthetics.

    Would I choose the Wilderness, NO! I did choose the Timber because it is offered in Left Handed" had a 24" barrel and in 30-06 (OMG, NOT THAT). 6.5PRC was not offered and the .308 only had a 20" inch barrel and I wanted the best velocity from large bullets out to a max of 400 yards. Guess I just chose the most obsolete out dated platform but very happy with my purchase.

    • @jaydunbar7538
      @jaydunbar7538 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      308 is supposed to have a shorter barrel, it makes up for the barrel with higher pressure in it’s specifications. If your hand loading though 06 is certainly the way to go, in a modern rifle there’s no reason to not run an 06 at modern pressures.

      They offer the wilderness Sierra in left hand and 30-06. It does have a 22” barrel but that is one of the things that sets this rifle apart, they shave 2” off the typical barrel lengths to make it a little more compact, light and a better suppressor host

A detachable on the Timber might be viewed as sacrilege, but being able to use five or ten round magazines is a big plus for me. I also want a rifle with a threaded barrel which made the choices even more limited for me. I do like the looks of the gen 2 Nexus scope though and I like my 22-250 Sierra. One thing I wish they would have done was make the barrel longer, but I'm assuming they were counting on people running them suppressed.

    If you wanna pay like $100 instead of over $200 for the bottom metal conversion you can get the Bergara one.
    I definitely like/recommend doing bottom metal upgrades when called for.

    3 shots isn't a group. Please go to at least 5 shot groups for accuracy testing, but 10 shot is the best.

      More than 3 heats up the barrel causing a loss in accuracy. 5 is definitely better but one must take more time to cool the barrel down.

    What velocity did you get out of your reload in that gun?
    lol if this rifle was chambered in 6.5 creed I wasn’t even going to watch. I find it amusing that people still act like 6.5 creed is a drastic improvement over 308, especially on a reloading channel.

      @Kentucky.Tactical 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      6.5 Creedmoor is a pretty good improvement over 308. I'm a 308 fan but 6.5 Creedmoor is just better. 308 can shoot heavier bullets which is great but ballistically the Creed is better.

    • @K-bob_45
      @K-bob_45 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Kentucky.Tactical I think the factory ammo situation is better, for match ammo. If you get any real hunting bullet the bc is typically not great. Probably a bigger emphasis on terminal performance. If you want to see a slippery bullet for 308 look no further than the berger elite hunter 180. Apples to apples I feel like the difference in hit probability between the two is probably not that much when like bullets are used. Using similarly designed bullets the 308 typically retains more energy too
