Song says lots about grief. Dreary grey solitude captures a depression of the ocean's infinity and beauty.. Life could otherwise be colorful and inspiring, but regrets color it dreary. "These days I think of all the things I forgot to do for you, and all the times I had a chance to . . ." How did a 16 year-old have such insight?

So sorry for your loss. I can't imagine your pain. I discovered Jackson Browne at the age of 14, almost 40 years ago. I lost my Father in a tragic head-on train collision 6 weeks prior to my 16th birthday. I had fallen in love with someone who I know without a doubt, was my true soul mate, who moved out of state, but had stayed at our house the entire summer, but left 2 weeks prior to my Father's death. This may sound silly to be so young & have those feelings, but they are what they are. God saved me, but the beautiful music of Jackson Browne had a huge impact on me. It seemed as though every song he sang was somehow related to what I was experiencing. It touch me to my inner core. I've can't even begin to imagine or say how his music got me through. This has continued through the years. No other music soothed my soul like the greatest artist like him. He will never know what he did for me, but I will never forget. What a pure beautiful soul.

Jackson Browne Gregg Allman was one of the most gifted singers of the last fifty years. We became friends in LA in the late sixties when he and Duane were in The Hourglass. He was a blues singer first, and he was so natural, and so soulful, that when he sang songs that were written in a major scale, he found all the most soulful and expressive passages through those changes. It was just how he heard it. That's how it was with my song, These Days. He slowed it down, and felt it deeply, and h...e made that song twice as good as it was before he sang it. I got to speak with him in the week before he passed, and I got to tell him how much his music and his friendship has meant to me. He recently recorded one of my early songs, Song For Adam, and he and Don Was sent it to me to sing on, and I did. That song, the way he sang it and where he sang it from - at the end of his life - well, he completed that song, and gave it a resonance and a gravity that could only have been put there by him. I will miss him. I send my deepest condolences to his family, his bands and crews, and all those who knew him and loved him

Am a predominantly crippled senior citizen knowing this song since Jackson Browne, himself, finally released it. Also think is one of the greatest songs ever written. Imagine writing a timeless song + of this caliber at the tender age of 16? Quite remarkable.
Has very special meaning to me, as most songs that are near and dear to our hearts are (at very least, partially) metaphoric. Thank Goodness for the very talented & GREAT Mr Jackson Browne. ❤️

I would not have been able to relate to this song at age 16 when Jackson wrote it, but the song is on point for me now that I'm in my 60's. It's one of the songs that is sad but true and it hit the mark in your heart. You look back and realize you made mistakes and failed in many ways but you also loved and had some really good times. Thank you Jackson for this song that I now consider to be my theme song. It speaks to my heart and comforts my mind. You are a true gem.

powerful lyrics aside from confronting our failures being lovers and risking another and losing for so long. omg those are real life lessons and this kid saw that stuff at very young age.

Wow memories of the 70s when his music reminded us on how important it was to have someone in ur life that really wanted to be in ur lifetime journey! I couldn’t imagine going from one to another. How lonely that must be, u undress to what u do best, next day ur alone looking for another!2022

Great video and just discovering this song after 50 years of playing guitar and music. It's a lucky thing to wake up and discover even after so much time. Hard selfish living for so long takes your eye off the ball, and if you get lucky and survive you might relax and discover the simple treasures. Thanks for making this video.

That was really a wonderful time to be young and free to do what you wanted. Money was not so important, and one could follow their BLISS wherever it lead. Your BROTHERS and SISTERS had your back, and you were not alone in your endeavors to shape the world in a positive way. Then the BLUE MEANIES took over the world.

''"These Days" is a song written by Jackson Browne and recorded by several different recording artists. Browne wrote the song at age 16; its lyrics deal with themes of loss and regret] It was first recorded by Nico in 1967 for her album Chelsea Girl. Browne and singer-songwriter Gregg Allman later recorded their own versions in 1973, with Browne crediting Allman for its arrangement. "These Days" has been recorded by a myriad of different artists since, including Paul Westerberg, St. Vincent, Fountains of Wayne, Drake, and more.
