Fortunately, just after she signed on with Mint Tiny Homes, Kayla learned she was pregnant, so modified the tiny house design to be baby/child-friendly. I adore this tiny home and the mama and Indie and love that the dad lives nearby. Maybe the parents will end up together - but even if they don't - they are both able to be present for their son in incredibly beautiful surroundings. Kayla is very beautiful and laid back and has created a wonderful home for herself and her son. Absolutely gorgeous
I like when she said she hated being so secluded but then she saw it through her sons eyes and the benefits to him and now really likes it. A good example of looking at the gifts and not the negatives.
Excellent th-cam.com/users/postUgkxYGamVaHfdHiPlAQaLa7zkwR02OKpGYDU . I built the basic model with its help and it turned out great . It is intensive and really educational. Ryan got another victor! No one can represent it better than Ryan. Thank you, Ryan!
I loved this family….Austin is just patiently waiting in the wings. I think he clearly loves this woman. The son is lucky to have such an involved dad even if his parents don’t end up together. May God bless you all.
One cheap alternative to blackout curtains is the foil backed foam, attached to the foil faxed and backed bubble wrap. Add magnets to attach to the skylight/window frames. This also reduces heat and cold loss. You can make them yourself pretty cheaply. Love the dedicated storage. Things I store would be more mixed.
That is a great idea! And sounds more removable than my blackout curtains! Sadly, because of the open geometric wall, light was coming in from everywhere - not just the skylight. I even tried putting shades on the windows nearest to the bedroom (in addition to the skylight), but there was still just too much light coming from the rest of the house🥴
For the skylight, have a cushion (like a sofa cushion) made for it. Measure the dimensions of the skylight and make a cushion that’s just ever so slightly larger than the dimensions. It’ll stay in with just friction and will totally block the light.
Beautifully decorated and designed home. Love the open closet for Indie! The green turf looks extremely useful… extending your home to the outdoors. (Indie looks like his dad!) Praying the very best for all 3 of you! Thank you for sharing with us.

Just about the time we think we've seen everything..... someone comes up with something new! Amazing closet. I'm definitely going to use THAT idea when I'm ready for my build. Lots of stuff to get rid of first. Maybe an auction.....
You can do it! Auction, flea market & yard sales are good options for downsizing and fundraising for your tiny home. We had a flea market booth once a month for a few months for our “best” stuff then did a big yard sale for most the rest

Beautifully decorated and excellent design well layed out, whata sweet little boy looks like daddy. You are such a great mom and dad an awesome dad giving your sone ths gorgeouse home to grow up in and beautiful property for lots of fun and adventure . Ontario Canada
Great space.... they do have black out shades for skylights... she could also look at an RV magnetic black out cover made to the size she needs... Gorgeous wee one!
Try automotive window tint. If you put in 2.5% tint it should help plus if it’s not dark enough you can add a second layer. Or maybe 20%? Pick a percentage that works for what you want.
I suggest you buy a large size truck window shades. You know the kind that fold down, silver in color. You can cut them to fit. Cout a little bit larger so they push right in. And you can use contact paper on the inside part and matching duct tape on the edges. I hope that is a solution for darkening your room 🙋♀️🌺
Kayla you have a beautiful home and I really love the wood design on the railing on the lofts and stairs. The design is beautiful. To help blackout the light from the skylight I would either have someone make a shade that fits the opening or make it yourself. You can add some magnets to the window frame or surrounding wood and then put magnets in or attached to the shade that line up with those on the window frame or wood. I would suggest that the shade be multi layered with reflectics or some cotton or wool batting sandwiched in between the fabric used on the outside. To help reflect the sun and heat use white or another light colored fabric and then use a darker fabric on the side facing the loft. You want a snug fit to help prevent any sunlight from coming in. You could get creative and design it to coordinate with your loft decor or make it an interactive learning game for Indy. You can also make a bug screen that attaches with magnets so that you can open the skylight and let some fresh air in. I have seen others who live in converted buses and tiny houses that have made shades like those I suggested. I hope it helps you with trying to make it darker in the loft area.
Try the black out/ privacy covers they use in RVs they come maganic if you have the capability with the sky light, if not, you can by maganic strips to put around sky light area. Just make sure you measure the space appropriately.
Thank you, I never thought of magnetic rv coverings!! I did use strong adhesive Velcro to put the cut-your-own blackout curtain on the skylight, but there was still too much light coming in from the rest of the house. Plus, with the intense heat/sunlight that came in the skylight, the adhesive always failed 🥴
@kg91351928 Also, maybe theirs exterior covers for the sky lights, maybe like a lid of some sort that fits over them. Again, maybe someone could design for you.
On your skylight. Think about adding the foil car front windows fold outs. You might need 2 or three. Easy fix by velcroing them together and velcroing. It to window edges. It will work great then for sleeping. You might see the car window covering together then velcro to window edging

I suggest you buy a large size truck window shades. You know the kind that fold down, silver in color. You can cut them to fit. Cout a little bit larger so they push right in. And you can use contact paper on the inside part and matching duct tape on the edges. I hope that is a solution for darkening your room

What a lovely home
Beautiful design!
Gorgeous home, TFS!
Great idea!

This is so lovely, I love her bedroom, but not good with stairs, so I don’t know how those would work for me
We can appreciate that. There are many great tiny homes with bedrooms on the main floor 😊
Oh Let Me say, I Just got To The vid Tour! ❤❤❤ Love It already!
Thank You 🙌🏾😻✊🏾🤌🏾
Most welcome & nice to “see” you again! ☺️💕
Try the black out/ privacy covers they use in RVs they come maganic if you have the capability with the sky light, if not, you can by maganic strips to put around sky light area. Just make sure you measure the space appropriately.
Excellent tips!
Great idea to work with gravity😅 I never thought about covering the outside!
On your skylight. Think about adding the foil car front windows fold outs. You might need 2 or three. Easy fix by velcroing them together and velcroing. It to window edges. It will work great then for sleeping. You might see the car window covering together then velcro to window edging
Line drying is very nice and they have clotheslines on poles that work very well I've been using them for years.
Such a sweet video
Thank you ☺️ ✨
Oml, Indie's mom reminds me of my dil, Brianne. Shes also beautiful, they look incredibly alike, she's just the coolest person and I love her. Shes also another wonderful mom . I wish Brianne would do this with her daughter but they rent a big house with her sister and niece and that works great for them ❣️
