I appreciate that she’s honest about the pros and cons and what she would do differently. It’s helpful for those of us who are thinking about the tiny home life.
I love the setting of the house in the forest and the sky lights, seeing the trees. I love the white and wood interior. So fresh and cozy. You have impeccable taste. This is beautiful!❤
I really appreciated seeing her small greenhouse and covered raised beds. With her focus on nutrition having those fresh veggies has to be wonderful. Great use of space.
This is the most well designed tiny home that l have ever seen...wow.....l didn't think that a kitchen and bathroom like this would fit into a tiny home. The storage in the stairs is brilliant...so easy to access. Well done! Thank you for the tour.
It really is beautiful!! The kitchen is super nice and spacious and I love the staircase to the loft! Thanks for watching and have a great weekend :) :)
Beautiful tiny house. So glad to see a tub in the bathroom, you don’t see many. Thats my only hesitation with a tiny house as I could not give up my tub. ❤
the only thing i'd have changed is she had plenty of room to drop the floor down in the master bedroom to where she could have stood upstairs- especially considering she never uses that tub.
@@ej3016 you can drop just a portion so it’s a walkway beside the bed, the bed still being on the higher part of the ceiling. So it would only cut the height out above the bath (possibly into the washing machine/dryer part but doesn’t need to go that full length). Then at least you can walk along the side of your bed before hoping up onto it.
I think that would be counter productive to her claustrophobic concerns. The flow of that house was perfect, and I think a dropped ceiling would ruin the bathroom. The cost would go up too.
You can place mobile skirting during the winter , that will disrupt the airflow under your T-Home , wrap your exterior waterless , also during summer months open skylights to allow heat to vent out .
This is the best use of space and beautiful aesthetics. And I’ve been looking at tiny homes for >10 years. The loft has so much natural light, I love it!
I would agree. This one is pretty much perfect. The stairs won't kill you, the bathroom isn't camperesque, the kitchen is functional, the living area feels large, the guest sleeping arrangement is roomy. She still came in under what a single wide would cost after foundation, delivery, install, taxes. Nice the BC neighbors can do these. Just south they are not permitted over 6 months in one location.
When I lived in a motel for a while, it showed me that I could totally love in a tiny home and gave me the opportunity to sort out my practicality preferences in the design of a home of my own. Tbh a good start would be to make a temporary version to construxt and live dry in before committing to something with gorgeous materials like this. Her design reminds me so much of a hotel room but has all the live-in features i would HAVE to have too 🖤💜💙💚💙💜🖤 Much Love!!!
This is one of the better floorplans that I've seen. I would probably do fewer windows in the lofts. I'm not a "bath" person, so I'd eliminate the tub and use that space for more closet/storage.
LADY, you are right about a built-in fireplace but you could do that NOW with your existing fireplace. You could build cabinetry around it and provide a shelf under the window in the process for plants. And provide space for books as well. 6 inches deep is all you need. I love your home. Thx for the video.
Gorgeous tiny house, especially the kitchen! It's clean, well-lit, feels light, with well-placed appliances. I'd probably remove the tub for a longer work desk and a built-in bookshelf for all my art supplies and books tho, lol. Glad to see her living a comfy life in her beloved tiny house!
Her kitchen is prettier and more sparkly than mine! I live in a home built in 1972. It’s a galley kitchen. With the range AND the fridge in the same small space there was no counter to speak of. I moved the fridge into the adjoining laundry and took some space from the garage and made a pantry/laundry “room.” Gained about 24” of counter. Doesn’t sound like much but here…it is!!!
Funny! I’m not a minimalist either BUT…my favorite room I saw in AD years ago. Bare wood floors with med-light stain. A sofa with wooden legs. The tables were all antiques but simple lines. I’m not sure of the period but they were like Biedermeier: beautiful woods and simple lines. A gorgeous mirror and simple drapes. Few objects just letting the furniture shine. It was so restful! I did get rid of my Oriental rugs. With dogs floor easier to care for. But I have LOTS of stuff on surfaces. And artwork on walls! And I LOVE baskets! Lolol Pairing down on surface clutter is helping. Trouble is my clutter is sterling or crystal candlesticks, a snuff box collection, a collection of daguerreotypes, red Bavarian glass…etc! Lolol But I moved from a 2500 sq ft home into 1500. It all doesn’t fit!! 🥴
This is undoubtedly one of the prettiest, most livable, tiny homes I have ever seen. Absolutely has everything that I would want in a home. I currently live in 3040 square feet, yet I could see myself retiring into this home. It has a real kitchen, a place to relax on a people sized couch, a work area, a laundry space, a bathtub and a comfortably sized shower, ( not one that you need to baby step around in to shower off your back), a place to hang up your clothes on hangers, (what a concept!)and nice airflow windows. I would add a hanging rack for pots and pans and shoe storage under the sofa. And like she said, in that climate, that would be a built in fireplace or a wood burning stove. I would add a very wind resistant screened porch, especially with animals, for a stop and shake off space.... And those huge Canadian mosquitoes to be intercepted before entry into the main living space. I would also add insulated boxes around ALL outside wiring, plumbing, etc. ( easily removable for moving, very stable for stationary living ) Also, as long as you intend to stay there, put some spray foam insulation up under that entire floor! I have spray foam up on the inside of my metal roof in Texas and the inspector/appraiser for my home expected to be blown over from the heat, because it was 103°F outside with the full sun beating down on the metal roof. It was 82° in the attic. 79° in the house with no A/C! That foam works. Once again...I do love your home.
She was really smart to have those spaces built for fullsize appliances even though she purchased midsized ones. Her builder must have walked through it all with her very methodically
I like the kitchen layout. The fridge should be huge for a single person. In Europe that's a family fridge 😉 You can also store a lot of vegetables in a dark, cool space instead (potatoes, roots, tomatoes,...) and buy more pantry items too.
Perfect minimalist Amber makes a wonderful impression. Immediately you can see that she has an amazing character and a sophisticated approach to life. A beautiful home and a very practical, multifunctional approach to the things used in it and attention to detail and the quietness of the appliances working in the house. Infrared heating mats suspended from the ceiling and directed down to the floor can compensate for the lack of floor heating. Absolutely wonderful house and perfect owner.
From the video: Cost was 170k but it had many extras. If doing it again she'd put in radiant floor heating, skip the skylights, get a quieter washerdryer since noise travels. Ceiling fans and dehumidifier are essential. Risk of pipes freezing, so shutting it up to leave it&go travel requires care. How many square feet? Didn't say how much she was paying in space rent. (And as another commenter noted, putting skirting around the perimeter would likely be good)
Love her home, but above all her honesty about the negatives regarding her tiny home and how she works around them. I would not have known to consider those things. Thank you for this video!🎉
Your home is beautiful. I’ve been looking and appreciate your insights and comments on what you would do differently. It’s the most elegant I’ve seen, due to your choices.
I love that the entrance door to her beautiful home was not placed in the center of the home. Putting the door on the end was ingenious and allowed for so much interior wall space to be utilized.
Amber's tiny gives a feeling of being so peaceful and restful. I have to say that I LOVE her bathroom with both the tub and shower! Interesting that she wouldn't choose the cost of the skylights if she were to do it again, but I bet as a person who is claustrophobic it made a big difference to getting used to the low bedroom heights. I thought I might feel the same but this year went car camping for the first time and I found sleeping in my car to be no problem at all! It did help that I could open the door if I needed too. I have seen so many beautiful tiny homes lately that were built by Mint! And great design and decor, Amber!

Stunning space. Love the kitchen and bathroom. And the meditation space in her bedroom! She can frame the fireplace with a wooden box, and that will help it blend better into the wall.
I lived in a Motorhome for 15 years in the US. RVs have 2" thick insulation in the walls. Tiny homes have 4-6" of insulation in the walls. They are more comfortable. I live in a Park Model RV which has 4" wall insulation. A tiny house is usually built to your specific needs and desires. Counter height, ceiling height, windows, appliances, etc. An RV is what the manufacturer decides to sell. Trailers and Motorhome RV are for traveling. Tiny houses are to be located somewhere or occasionally moved. Tiny house trailers can be 10-12 feet wide. My park model is 12 feet wide and I would not want a tiny house narrower. Heat: Pelonis makes great electric heaters. Have 2 and used them the last 25 years. They have a dial for heat and 2 heat settings. They are manual dials so they will turn back on if there is a power failure. I have purchases over 10 other heaters over the last 25 years and I still use these 2 and got rid of the others.
Beautiful home! If she were to skirt it, especially if using a 2” thick insulation board attached to the skirting, she would notice a vast improvement.
It's so beautiful, Amber! I live in the interior of BC... colder, with less majestic forest, but still a glorious connection with nature. I adore all your features. The bath is such a luxury, with a built-in shower, too! I love your kitchen set-up, since I also cook from scratch. One question... do you have any issues with bears, being isolated as you are? What happens with your kitchen garbage? Do you compost? It all looks very idyllic. Thanks for sharing your fabulous space with us.
Thanks for the video! I am always inspired by how economical one can make a space and keep it super livable. Your washer/dryer set caught my attention. I have a small condo and I recently made some upgrades to appliances. I had one of those combo washer/dryer stations which was quite loud. I replaced it with an LG washer/dryer stacked set. These can be stacked or bought pre-combined as washtowers (with a combined control panel for the washer and dryer). They come in 27 inch or 24 inch sizes to fit different space needs (my set has compact 24-inch units). Specifically, I got the LG heat pump version of the clothes dryer, and so closed off my vent (no more vent cleaning costs and dust escaping into my small space). These new units save a lot on water, and with the heat pump dryer, a huge amount of electricity (with only a small increase in drying time-- I find around 20 minutes per load). The big bonus is that these units are relatively quiet for washer and dryers, which is important in a small space. I also more recently replaced my dishwasher with a Bosch 500, which also uses less electricity than my 20 year old Whirlpool dishwasher. I can now run my dishwasher at night as it's so quiet. I use the AutoAir feature where the dishwasher door pops open after a cycle, which makes for a more economical drying process, and everything is ready to be put away in the morning.
@@shellysadventures2875 I got the 24 inch compact stacked set a year ago as that what was available at the time to fit my small space. I first heard about these LG units in general when I read about local people who got one of the 27 inch washtowers with a heat pump. Heat pump dryers were new to me, and a solution to the problem I had with my vented system. I had some general awareness that LG was a good brand for washers and dryers. A compact 24 inch LG washtower version came out after I purchased my set, and I would have chosen that one instead if I was buying today. This new 24 inch washtower had a few newer features. The main difference of a washtower over a stacked pair is that the washer/dryer in the washtower configuration share a control panel in the middle (so the overall height is less than a stacked set). There is probably a weight difference as well, as I found moving the stacked set was difficult given its weight. I had to adjust the feet many times as the stacked set needed to be perfectly balanced. The high spin washer becomes very load if it's slightly off balance.
Thanks so much for your comment!! We do spend a massive amount of time editing all the little details to make sure it flows and also to make sure that the sound is well is balanced, so thanks for your feedback :) :)
Great question! Amber touches on this a bit at 11:10 in the video. She mentions that she had initially thought she'd move it around more, but the reality is that tiny homes are quite heavy and difficult to move, and it can be expensive to move as well. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching :)
@ExploringAlternatives Thank you for answering I did notice towards the end Amber did touch on how it needs to be able to be moved. I will follow her other social media to learn more .
Well done Amber. .... You are living a pretty natural life, with reference to the air quality of your location and your adherence to correct eating. Stay with your natural life , much better than a city life full of pollution and strange people. Good luck, Best wishes and love to your goals Valérie Farrington. ❤❤
Very nice design. Thanks for sharing. - Suggestion: Add aluminum siding as skirting around the base that will save you heating energy & limit the cold floors
It's really not an issue as long as you're respectful of their space and make your territory known by having clear boundaries for the wildlife around you, you would be totally fine. Bears are more scared of you than you are of them. They will avoid humans as much as possible so long as you don't welcome them in by leaving food out or anything that will attract them into your property. You do have to be a little more cautious if you have small pets that go outside but there's plenty of ways to keep them safe. Plus, bears are only active for a portion of the year as they hibernate throughout the late fall and winter. So you really only have to be a little more alert during the early spring when they're just waking up from hibernation and are really hungry and in the late summer/early fall when they're trying to bulk up for the long sleep. And of course, stay away from any cubs because that's actually the most dangerous situation to be in with a bear if the Momma bear feels her cubs are threatened by your presence. But as long as you know what you're doing, you can live perfectly safe and peaceful amongst bears. Humans have been doing it all throughout history and attacks are extremely rare and almost always due to human error from not knowing the proper way in which to conduct themselves in a confrontation with a bear and they end up provoking the attack. People actually take guided tours out in the wild to go bear watching up in Alaska with the huge Kodiak grizzlies. They get within several yards of large groups of bears with no barriers between them and there's never been an issue because the guides teach everyone how to behave around the bears and other wildlife. Knowledge is key! 😊
@realeques Me too! I’m a camper and find that I’m unable to relax in bear country. My research has convinced me that more often than not, bear attack victims are simply unlucky.
I couldn't afford a tiny home either seeing as the prices skyrocketed in the last 5+ years and ended up buying a cheap static caravan (that is in good shape but was last decorated in the late 90s) for 3k and I'm doing it up. no upstairs but i have a huge space. Bought it from a holiday park. You can get much more expensive ones and much cheaper ones but I found anything under 3k was in such bad condition I wouldn't be able to fix it up by myself.
I would have to have a bedroom on the first floor so I can stand up in it. Otherwise I love it! I could so live in something like this. I’ve seen some that are as much as a home though.
VERY BEAUTIFUL ❤ A bathtub/shower combination would have been so much better, you could have had a separate area for your office. The laundry room was outstanding. Yes I agree with other posters lower the master bedroom a little so you could stand on the side of at least the mediation area. Blessings and Peace ✝️❤️ everyone.
Beautiful scandi style interior, lots of creature comforts and great use of space. Wonderful setting, but she is brave to have it in such a remote place. I would love people to talk about that aspect of being so remote. and the pros and cons of that.
Nice to see you eating celery, so healthy...I had soup just now with fresh celery and fresh ginger added...with some wheat crackers...and tea...a lovely meal...love your tiny home.
Very nice home and Mint is a good builder. The dehumidifier is something anyone living in a smaller space needs to have unless you live in a very dry climate- air conditioning/heat pumps do dehumidify but not as efficiently.
Spectacular forested area around your Tiny , it is truly my dream to do the same , I love the whole design of this beautiful tiny, The only thing I would have changed would be the ceiling height in the lofts for more head room, purhapes dropping the ceiling some , or some sort of lift system , .I absolutely love the raised bed and Greenhouse and the remoteness , to be able to walk in the forest around my home would be perfect / healthy. spectacular Home for the dogs and you Amber !.
You could protect the underneat like they do for RV’s….with a wrap-around carpet type protector preventing the cold winds and snow from going underneath…Jean from Montreal…
The home is very beautiful. For the cold floor i would probably put come type of shield around the tiny home, so the floor won’t be too cold. I’ve seen homes where the would build a wall for under the tiny home and also had storage under there as well. I’m guess that’s if the person isn’t going to move their tiny homes at all. I’ve also seen where some owners would put bails of hay around their tiny homes.
I wonder how you will keep the tires from rotting from sitting in one position for a long time? But this is the absolute prettiest tiny home I've ever seen. And YES, the bathtub is *chef's kiss.*

So you prefer the wash tower a lot more than the combo unit? Looking to add to the second floor bathroom, just debating what makes any sense.
Big shout out to the editing here !!
Perfection !
Top notch quality all round ! Thank you .
Of course liked and subscribed 🌿
Thanks so much for your comment!! We do spend a massive amount of time editing all the little details to make sure it flows and also to make sure that the sound is well is balanced, so thanks for your feedback :) :)
Is it possible to relocate it?
And are you able to move it if necessary or would you need tob hire a tiny house mover?
Great question! Amber touches on this a bit at 11:10 in the video. She mentions that she had initially thought she'd move it around more, but the reality is that tiny homes are quite heavy and difficult to move, and it can be expensive to move as well. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching :)
@ExploringAlternatives Thank you for answering I did notice towards the end Amber did touch on how it needs to be able to be moved.
I will follow her other social media to learn more .
I love her home.
What a lovely home… love everything!! Especially the little dogs
Well done Amber. .... You are living a pretty natural life, with reference to the air quality of your location and your adherence to correct eating. Stay with your natural life , much better than a city life full of pollution and strange people. Good luck, Best wishes and love to your goals
Valérie Farrington. ❤❤
Beautiful home and space ❤. I am also a minimalist and I love the home set up and the outdoors. Thank you for sharing your story. 🙏🏻😃
I love the bathtub !
Can you tell me why you wouldn't put sky lights in again? Mahalo
Sooo lovely . . .what a beautiful space. So glad there are options like this today.
Hello there sorry for bothering you
Due to the nature of my job its really hard to communicate with anyone can we be friends please 😊😊😢
Very nice design. Thanks for sharing. - Suggestion: Add aluminum siding as skirting around the base that will save you heating energy & limit the cold floors
it looks beautiful , but living on an island in the forest with bears would definitely make me uncomfortable
Not more dangerous than living amongst humans really.
@realeques
Me too!
I’m a camper and find that I’m unable to relax in bear country.
My research has convinced me that more often than not, bear attack victims are simply unlucky.
It is beautiful with beautiful scenery but what happens in the summer hope there is no bush fires ?❤
Beautiful lady and her house totally matches her. Wonderful soulful design. And the dogs, well perfection.
Thank you so much!
I love your home it is beautiful.
Cute living tiny home… Beautiful scenery and gorgeous surroundings.. 💘❤️🎯💯👏
Thank you! 🤗
I actually love this and wish I could afford to get one. My kids are grown and I'm pretty much on my own.
Needs the skirting, insulated, around the bottom . To protect the underside of her house. Floors would not be as cold.
What a stunning location and LOVE the tub!
Wow! I love this bathroom! Such a beautiful tiny house design! Thank you for sharing 💖
You are so welcome! Thanks for checking out the video :)
I have the same fireplace from Home Depot and I love it !
I would have to have a bedroom on the first floor so I can stand up in it. Otherwise I love it! I could so live in something like this. I’ve seen some that are as much as a home though.
Wow! A truly beautiful home. Kudos from fellow Tiny Home Dwellers.
Beautiful , lovely , cosy , neat home ❤❤❤❤ . love it
This home is beautiful ❤️
Thanks for checking out the tour :)
Canada is safer than usa
I am more a massive house kinda guy, but if you were to live in a tiny home, this is really nice! The high ceilings make a really big difference..
Хороший домик, шикарная женщина, приятные собачки.
Спасибо за видео.
Всем добра и позитива.
Обнял!
Really inspiring 😊 Thanks for sharing your beautiful tiny home!
Nice to see you eating celery, so healthy...I had soup just now with fresh celery and fresh ginger added...with some wheat crackers...and tea...a lovely meal...love your tiny home.
What a beautiful tiny house!! Love it 🥰🙌
Very nice home and Mint is a good builder.
Wonderful space.
Do you have any videos spotlighting your little above ground gardens?
Smart lady. Great design. Eveything's beautiful and inviting.
Love the tub. Couldn't do without one.
I live on a 45ft boat and that house looks huge to me!
I love all the comments about what she'd change.
I wonder how you will keep the tires from rotting from sitting in one position for a long time? But this is the absolute prettiest tiny home I've ever seen. And YES, the bathtub is *chef's kiss.*
My favorite builder ❤
By far!!
Love this episode!
Thanks for your comment! Happy you enjoyed the tiny house tour :)
Beautiful home! I’m so jealous.😊
