The terrain painting can be simple. Spray it black. Dry brush metal of choice. Then use contrast style paints to pick out as much detail you can be bothered with 😂
I’ve been painting all my ‘nids to match my boarding patrol terrain. I could run Three squads of ten Genestealers and a Broodlord with Neuronode. Or a Deathleaper with three squads of twenty termagants and three ripper swarms running assimilation swarm. Either a lot of very hungry bugs or an endless horde of chaff. Both sound very fun to play.
The setup and tear down time required for BA can be mostly negated if you plan games ahead of time and keep the terrain in sub-assemblies for transport. I use one of the Into the Dark boxes to store and transport the 2 full sets needed, as well as all the extra bits from the various Into the Dark expansions Everything fits, albeit barely. The only thing that has to be transported separately are the boards themselves, but that isn't a big deal
Can’t imagine you folks are gonna do the scorecard for that many missions. I still use the 9th edition scorecard and I’m so grateful you included it in the app.
While the terrain can be difficult to work with, I highly recommend anyone building this terrain to take the tame to shave/file down the sides of the connection points before priming and painting. There really is no reason for the wall tabs to fit into the slots so tightly because the caps will hold the set together anyway. When the walls can slide in and out easily, it makes setup much more manageable.
"It's not necessarily the best game for new players, but it's not a bad step from Kill Team." What?! Kill Team, in my opinion, is way more difficult for new players to get into. For one thing, Kill Team will have 6 to 13 "units" to control, while Boarding Patrols usually have 3 to 6. Additionally, for someone wanting to get into 40k, the learning the rules for Boarding Actions will transfer to 40k much better than learning the rules for Kill Team. I love both games, but I would definitely recommend Boarding Actions over Kill Team for new players.
Hyped for this and have preordered the book at my FLGS. Wish I knew more about the detatchments, especially if there is one that allows more than one unit of Striking Scorpions or one that allows only Deathleaper, Lictors, Neurolictors and Von Ryan's Leapers because I would buy those models only for Boarding Patrols.
why would they? That'd be a horrible change, especially in boarding actions where you can overwatch multiple times per turn for free. Overwatch is already very powerful in 40k and it doesn't need to be even better.
@@robertjones4867 At the infantry scale, shooting is much worse than melee in general, plus melee is already heavily favored due to the terrain set up. "Overwatch is already very powerful in 40k" frankly it's not. In some situations it can be, like with a land raider redeemers flame cannons or if the unit is like an ork loota squad and already hitting on 6's anyway. However the majority of shooting units get unusable worse in overwatch. If it's the same as it was in 9th edition you basically can't play imperial guard, tau, LoV, or admech in boarding actions. It's probably even worse with the weapon profile and toughness changes of 10th.
@@asbrozek64 Yeah you give up shooting to set Overwatch, same as in 9th edition boarding actions. It's a solid change and makes Overwatch more about planning your move to control the board instead of a free second round of shooting. And trust me, I play Thousand Sons. I know you can shoot and Overwatch
No Knights. They'd hit the ceiling!
I
I never thought GW would acknowledge boarding actions again, I'm so stoked

And I'm about to buy 500 points of Genestealers to make some sweet sweet Spaaaace Hulk!

Be a long time before I start a 2k Nids force, but I'm really digging the idea of 500pts of GSC or the Deathleaper detachments
The best boarding actions review so far 🔥
hell yeah
Great review. Hope the algorithm makes it hit the ceiling!
Really hyped for Genestealers and Terminators!

We'll add more to the app. The most time-consuming part is doing the wall layouts for each mission.
I had no idea you guys were producing TH-cam content. Also, its Campbell! What a lovely surprise this is.
…they’d hit the ceiling!
I am glad to see that the book is so meaty

We'll be doing Detachment focus articles in the coming weeks but the things you're looking for are more or less viable.
Yeah, sounds close but not really there.
When I saw this video, I hit the ceiling!
Co-owner 😂. Great review, loved the ska.
The pivot to video is going great.
I am really looking forward to the new game mode.
09:41 Nice
How does Infiltrate work in Boarding Actions? The article only mentions how scout, fly, and deep strike are changed.
this is so hype
Deathwatch!
Man that busy music is annoying as hell😅
Still didn't fix overwatch to be -1to hit roll or unmodified 5+ to hit

@@robertjones4867In 40K you can shoot AND overwatch. This sounds like one or the other. That being said, no need for it to be too powerful haha
