My fiancee is dead set on making Warpcoven her first KT. I got all the Tzaangor, Sorcerers and Rubric Marines boxes, but I am even confused at which options to assemble. Wish me luck. 😂
Similar situation here! I ended up “learning” the team to help my partner 😂 I think it’s safe to say that 3 sorcerers is mandatory. (Note this is all previous edition, some may change!) Make one with the Warpflame Pistol, and the others with whatever they think is cool. For Rubric Marines, one Heavy Gunner (Chaincannon or Flamer) and an Icon Bearer will be your first choices. A regular warrior is only if you want your team to be 6 Rubrics (how we end up playing most of the time 😊). For Tzaangors, 2 Tzaangors = 1 Rubric slot, and one of the Tzaangors can have the greataxe weapon or whatever that comes on the sprue. Make one with that, and one with the regular double sword option. Everything else can change between games (number of dudes, spell lores, equipment) etc so just focus on making em look cool!
@@ianeast8831Icon lost the free psychic action, so will probably be a lot more niche. You can now go double gunner without full rubric team though, so that may be the pick considering both the soulreaper and flamer are even better now
I am so hyped for the new Warpcoven rules. They finally have the rube goldberg machine of batshit rules they have in 40k! I can't wait to move, double shoot, and timeslip back behind terrain. Also Destiny Dice! Fate Itself is my Weapon! Every sorcerer has minimum 3 paragraphs of text. Incredible.
I totally agree on how good Legionary and Angels of Death are for representing your favorite things. My old KT21 Sisters of Battle are hitting the table now as Legionary or AoD with easy 1-1 'counts as' options and fun rules.
...angels of death represented by nids....that is an AWESOME idea! Cool vid lads :) Also, as someone collecting both Hand of the Archon and Arbites, kinda glad not to see them on the list. Arbites do look like they will need a few plays to get the most out of the tactics though
Nemesis Claw seem also great if you like Night Lords. Legionaries are better allrounders tho. Good thing is as a beginner, you can easily proxy Legios as NC or the other way around.
Just played my first ever game of kill team using the first minis I’ve ever bought. Bought the Nemesis Claw box and I loved it! Always been a Nightlords fan and I feel like killteam is THE place thematically for that particular gang of killers. Even better I won and had a great time.
Love the input from you guys. I'm never going to be a competitive player and that's fine, so I'm glad to have someone out there explaining what's fun, not just what's cracked
I agree the Angels of Death are the best to start with. Tanky with simple rules overall. Competitive for many players without having to manage lots of operatives or special rules.
i believe your take are great and spot on, sadly i just picked up brood brothers and i did okay with them learning the new edition as last edition i played legionnaire but saw their rules and thought these are great but wanted to take on the brood since its a 180 for the csm boies
I started playing few months ago (when Kt3 launched) and my firsts few games were with Angels of Death and now i'm painting a novis team. I liked the lore of Adepta Sororitas before going to the club, they taught me how to play with Angels but I quickly realized that they where kinda... Vanilla? and didn't want to get used to having 3 APL in all my units. Now with Novitiates, while they're more complicated than Angels, i'm having a BLAST (2") learning and playing them.
Hey guys - another great video. I am really surprised at you saying BoK is a great starter team. I found the 15 different aspect techniques were a LOT to get my head around, and I had been playing KT for half a year before I started them. I love them as a team and I can see what you say about the different operative types. Personally I would have picked Kommandos - each model has a clear purpose (although yes, there are a lot of different ones), there are lots of guys so losing an operative or two is not the end of the world and it is a one box team
I was a bit blindsided by the Brood Brothers re-releasing without the Command operatives! Lucky for my GSC-loving friend, I bought the full Extermination set to split with him. I am hoping this could mean the new Ratlings team, which allows you to include Ogryn and Bullgryn, will come with a sprue from that kit to allow you to build the necessary bodies, even if they don't return in the standalone package. I am only worried because none of the pictures shown include the ogryns.
New to Kill Team. How do you feel about the Kasrkin Cadian special forces team? Good for beginners, or maybe not so much?! They were just re released. And so to we’re the Chaos Legionaries- which because of this video, are now buying! Got the new starter ordered as well. Have a feeling I will be outgrowing that fairly quickly.
Farstalker Kinband are an absolute avoid for me. They're far too fragile now, and having to spend a command point just to have rogue back feels really bad. Their equipment got worse, their ploys got worse, their operatives got worse, they just took a ton of nerfs. I'm just going to shelve them and remember them fondly until they maybe get an extremely necessary rework.
My plan is to start with teams that look cool and have cool lore. Then I will read all the rules for those teams- cause I can- cause the rules are free (yay) and then pick whichever team has rules that sound compelling.
the faction rule for the Vespid should be on the data card when its something that an operative can have. Like the +1 communion or percing with neutron weapon, etc. It would help me to not forget at least
I built my current teams around the Imperial Fists, so I'm glad to hear the Angels of Death are still a good go-to (I figured it was a safe bet, but its good to hear) I also have some Kasrkin that represents the Auric Auxilia. Might branch out into Pathfinders when they get re-released
Agree heavily on proxying Legionaries. I'm buying little base converters to set my Novitiates to 32mm when I feel like it and then most of the analogues are pretty clear (Repentia -> Butcher etc.)
As someone planning on starting with Mandrakes, I appreciate them not being in this video. It gives me hope that the learning curve will not be as rough as it seems at first glance. If you really want Brood Brothers, Kill Team Termination is still being sold and has the partiarch and co. in it, so you can just grab that and sell the space dwarf half.
So I just played my first game, old rules, and I picked warpcoven. Of course. And I will say you are 100% correct, it was confusing as hell. I realized part way through the turn that I had been using the wrong sorcerers abilities, and had to ask my opponent if I could switch out the models. I gotta edit the names in ktdash so like 'Bob with the doombolt' instead of the name generator ones. Then maybe I can keep them straight.
I agree with a lot of this, but I also think Hernkyn Yaegirs are an awesome team for beginners, as its fairly forgiving with the abilities they have, you can essentially roll with a single box and not have really miss much (lol, extra warrior?), and their abilities definitely help in survivability, and are pretty straightforward.
I know my first Kill Team is the Fellgor Ravagers and my only reason why I chose them is because I am a huge fan of Beastmen and sadly these are the only beastmen in Warhammer 40K (and well now Sigmar since Game workshop killed my boys) But once I paint them and put them together hopefully I can have fun with their aggressiveness, they seem like the best way to play them is to rush them forward and overwhelm the other team with Melee attacks
A bit frightening to hear that the brood brothers are a bit tricky to run. But……I still kinda want to get them. Specifically because when I first got into 40k earlier this year I got the brood coven before deciding I didn’t want to run genestealer cults yet, so they’ve just been sitting unpainted, the poor things. So I’d love the stand alone release (I couldn’t get the termination box ‘cause under no circumstances do you need two broodcovens) I’d love to get a chance to play with them
I don't like the changes to Heirotek, but it seriously simplified the team. No more debates about who to hit with the Lazarus Protocol. No APL theft Alpha Strike on Chronomancer. Its just Robits doing what Robits do.
Honestly as a brand new I've only played one game player, who has no Warhammer experience. I would love a version of this video about how to get complete teams. I watch videos like this And tier lists and stuff to figure out which teams to play. But I always get nervous when people talk about one box teams versus two box teams. And I haven't done a good explainer as to how to get full teams or which are a full team. I feel like I'm just supposed to know cuz the community knows. Just an idea.
Have they announced the new price for Striking Scorpions? Stores around here are selling them more expensive than usual, so I'm evaluating how far off the new price would be.
Hi, I am new to kill team and I am planning to start my first team with the Pathfinder(I love railgun). Is it a good idea or are there anything I should keep in mind?
Curious your thoughts on starting with the Navy Breachers? I have several teams that I am building for myself and a friend, but I like the breacher idea and want to start there. Bad idea or okay?
so does the new book include all these rules and teams? I realize this is a newbie ask, but as an experienced D&D player I’m looking to get the biggest bang for my buck with my 10-year-old who really wants to paint and start wargaming
Not a huge fan of the editing on this one. The text to speech "HERE WE GO" thing just killed the flow of the episode constantly. I'd rather just listen to you gents chat.
Would be nice if they make a box of Blades of Khaine team with 3-3-3 Banshee, Avengers and Scorpions instead of just Scorpions, its pretty expensive team to collect. Same with Warpcoven and Wyrmblade.
Oh I have my full Scouts team together and painted. I haven't played them since their last buff in KT21. I'm thinking they may be a better representation of general team play for the game when demoing. Mandrakes are icky. Dark Eldar boooo.
@@tedcincoski2497 oh yeah agree, screw drukkari I hated putting them together but they look fantastic and are incredibly fun to play... My fingers still got stabbed far too many times for my liking
I'd say mandrakes are another ones to avoid purely because the new rules aren't really clear on what the special rules do and have a massive wall to pretty much say "1 guy can teleport into cover per round as long as they aren't within 1-2 inches of other people." That and every other model has a unique mechanic that either has a token or a special aura, DO NOT get me started with the mind fffffffffrickery that is the soulstrike mechanic. Also the vespids are pretty good to start with. They are pretty easy to understand, very unique in their own way with mechanics and weapons so it prepares players for more complicated teams like the Mandrakes and warpcoven.
I would say Death Korps is not terrible for beginners and Kasrkin aswell I would argue Blooded and Pathfinders are really really bad to start with Yaegirs also are not bad for starting
I am looking to get into playing kill team with my son. If we decide not to start with a starter box. What would we need to purchase in order to be able to play. Do we just need two kill teams do we need the physical rules book? Where do the different operations come from. Sorry for the rapid fire questions.
"Compendium" teams like hunter cadre T'au can still be used in this edition like "legends" units in 40k right? Or are the rules and interactions completely unviable?
Anything can be learnt especially if you will have fun while doing . Hierotek are just harder to get a grasp at the beginning, but they do seem to be much more streamlined than before so just go for it!
You mentioned blades of khaine. Ive read several times, that this team isnt a one box team. Do you have a good loadout, that could be build from one box?
Im just getting into Killteam. With the kitbashed teams is there a resource that lists the units needed and what boxes they come. I wont lie, I'm overwhelmed looking at all the products available.
There is a new app that came out where you can download for free the rulesets for each teams, within those rule sets there’s the operative selection that straight up tells you how many operatives you can get, which one, with what build etc. All for free. As a new player myself, I used it to figure out what model I needed to buy and how to build them properly Killteam app is the name
Just make sure you let BoK players know they auto lose to elites 😂 I don’t find them to be great starter team as the techniques overwhelm some people and they are very unforgiving. 8 ops with 8 wounds and 4+ saves is squishy (65 wounds is one of the lowest in the game, might actually be the lowest…) and they go down fast. They basically can’t hurt elites with shooting and get munched in melee so until they get some upgrades, your other picks are better imo.
Hi is there any kill teams for nids as I only own two factions in 40k and had my first game last night, with release of hivestorm, and am I really unable to use any of my Nids as a kill team option?
I know you guys said purchasability isn't considered here. But blades of khaine are really the worst for that to be honest. It's 3 boxes, just awful as a new player.
I think easier and harder! They can choose to just not take equipment besides more units which can make things easier because you don’t have to think about all the options you can use, but having more operatives can be harder as well! Each operatives has clear things they are meant for. Easier in the sense that you know the big guy is literally just meant to run at people and fuck them up, and the little guy is just supposed to sit on points and be annoying. Harder in the sense that the big guy kind of sucks when you want to do objective actions with them and the little guy can’t kill things for shit and just dies. But like, I bought them because the models look amazing and are so fun to paint (and easy because they are meant to look kind of fucked up). Plus you get every model needed for the team in the box and can just start playing! So if you like the look of them I’d say they are a fine team to start with! Definitely will both be manageable to play and teach you how to be tactical, but are also just fun because you also just run and kill stuff
The Brood Bros box doesn’t come with the Patriarch? Termination did, but I haven’t seen the solo box for them yet. Sucks if true; Big P is the coolest part of that team.
Thats because they basically put 2 different GSC sets in Termination, the Brood Brothers themselves and the Patriarch Box Set. They cant really sell a Patriarch in every box because that would massively tank the re-buy value.
@@omnissiah7859 That's an expensive-ass Kill Team. I get that most teams need two boxes to build all the options, but BB feels like you need to drop $130 just to get the reasons you'd play BB. : \
@@patrickdunham9490 Oh i agree with you, buts imo the issue is now with whats in the box but rather why they picked the Patriarch in the first place. There is no good solution i think.

Are Hierotek and Vespids bad puck ups for a new player? I love their look the most and already got a box of Hierotek
Anything can be learnt especially if you will have fun while doing . Hierotek are just harder to get a grasp at the beginning, but they do seem to be much more streamlined than before so just go for it!
I really like a few changes to veteran guardsmen seem much more reliable though "In death, attonement" nerf just hurts and kinda makes it meh.
As a new player myself, I used it to figure out what model I needed to buy and how to build them properly
Killteam app is the name
I'm leaning between hand of the archon, hierotek and exaction. Still unsure to be honest.
me watching this knowing no matter what im playing nemesis claw and hand of the archon lol
Any word on Chaos cult or Blooded?
I recommend compendium teams. Lots of flavour and ways to build your own dudes. OH WAIT
I was already preparing to type my ruination of your day... 😂
Is there a valid army that is normal imperial guard and not the scions or other elite units?
Closest is Krieg n ratling. Special dudes are the kaserkin n tempest aquilons
I play Legionary as World Eaters full marks of Khorne. I am not happy. Without Perpetual Agression they will have trouble staying on the board
is there a deathguard kill team?
Legionaries w mark of Nurgle. As someone w 6k pts of dg it's a bit of a let down but it is what it is.
what about elucidian starstriders?
What do you guys think of Hearthkyn Salvagers?
since you guys know all of the rules in advance, care to give your opinion on how Plague Guard is going to fair in the meta?
Am I missing something about the number of kill teams? 50? I'm not seeing anywhere close to that number on the official website.
Need Ogryns
No love for Kommandos? Would expect them over Legionaries
I think you should play 2nd edition Warpcoven ONE more time, and if you lose again, Tzzentch destroys them and you make a new one for 3rd!
Hi is there any kill teams for nids as I only own two factions in 40k and had my first game last night, with release of hivestorm, and am I really unable to use any of my Nids as a kill team option?
I find it crazy they added weird teams like the fellgor ravagers but don’t have nids 🤔
I know you guys said purchasability isn't considered here. But blades of khaine are really the worst for that to be honest. It's 3 boxes, just awful as a new player.
Would y’all say that Gellerpox Infected are tricky to use for a newbie? I’ve seen some ppl mention that.
I haven't played them but they don't seem too bad, melee teams are easier to play than ranged as a general rule
Not sure about Novitiates. 10 operative 7 pf pratically no long range.😅
both survivability and damage down the drain with 4+ to hit on everything and blinding aura being a tactical ploy
Mentions warpcoven as I’m working on them lol
