  • In this video I explain how to synchronize the throttle bodies of a 2 cylinder engine (by trial and error). In this case the LC8 990 engine from a KTM SMT. I also explain all preliminary work like removing the tank and how to reset fault codes caused by the synchronization using TuneECU.

The Australian accent lured me into thinking that this report is coming from an exciting place but the yellow licence plate snapped me back into reality! Lol

Thank you Michel, I learnt from you.
If I may add as you were asking yourself, the 2 sensors you disconnected to plug your meters are the manifold air pressure (MAP) sensors, those who tell the ECU what is the pressure in each manifold.
    Good ride !

Thanks for the information. Nice to hear you have learnt from this video!

So you could just synchronize by reading the pressures in tuneecu instead of using external gauges?

You have to use the external cauges. Tunecu could be an option but the lag between the real value and what you see in Tunecu might give you problems to get the vacuum spot on. Only one way to find out though 😉

You absolutely can use tuneecu :)

Veeeery interesting video. Thank you, sir ! I first thought of this good old kill switch, but couldn't believe that was it. I got this exact same bike, and your vid could definitely prove useful if I don't switch soon.

Just do it, the bike runs so much nicer at low revs that you won't regret it. Careful with the kill switch though ; )

Not that u did a bad job but i found that if u use a fan in front of the front wheel blowing directly into the radiator the motor & carbs dont become heat soaked as to where it makes it easier & better response to tuning while balancing the carbs. Good job tho.

Lol the kill switch. This got me really good once when trail riding. I thought the battery was dead, tried to bump start the bike, tried to get a jump from somebody else's battery before finally realizing it was self inflicted

Succes!

what kind the symptom mean the throttle body need to sync thanks

When your engine is running not so smooth at lower revs (less than 3000 rpm) it would be good to do a tbs. When your throttle bodies are synchronised your engine will run noticeably smoother at lower revs.
