In this episode, I go over the differences in motor oil and the importance of choosing the right MA or MA2 oil for your atv or atc, I also show you the steps to changing your clutch in your Honda atc 250x, but this would also apply to many other model Honda atv's. I cover some of the ways you know you need a new clutch and things to look out for.

Hey man , I enjoy and learn so much from your videos , I don’t own a three wheeler , but a lot applies to other stuff , thank you and keep the videos coming
Hey Bowhunting, I agree completely most of the things I show you, are basic and will apply to many other types of machines. Thanks for watching!
Great lessons as always, I appreciate your time and patience with some of us high mileage guys! I already found a home for the Pilot I ran across, but need to buy it in it's non-running condition to keep the price down. When I pick up the 2 four wheel drives that got me in the barn, I'll have to play my cards carefully. Hopefully a pocket full of Franklins and the winch mounted in the back of my truck will stack the deck in my favor. Over and out.
Sounds like a fun adventure! thanks for watching
Very detailed video through out makes it seem simple even though all bikes are different very helpful
Glad it was helpful!
Good video..very informative and detailed
Thank You. You are a very, very good teacher! I learned a few things..I'm a girl, I love working on small engines!😊👍
Thank you Southern Justice. Welcome to the family. Small engines are just puzzles that make noise. Stay true to you, do what you enjoy, life's too short not to.
Amen to that!😊
Aren't you a banshee guy, too? I bought a basket case 200x I'm doing a full rebuild now so, even though this is a 350x, your video helps a lot.
Hi Robert, no sir never owned a banshee.
The guys I bought my old Hondas from always suggested running Castrol GTX 20w50 in them.
The book states 10/40
Awesome video, hope that 350 fire's up with no problems. Just swapped in a new/ used 90 motor and it was worse than the one before. Live and learn. Have a good one brother.
I hope so too, thanks for watching
Thank you sir for video.
Would you happen to have a link or part number for that crankcase screen?
Go to partzilla.com look your machine and then look on the crankcase file. It will list a part number and availability. You may need to source Ebay for a used one.
Been using Rotella for as long as it's been around. Great oil..
Hey Roy, you are correct. Rotella is great.
Another great video, thanks, BTW, you do a great job of explaining thing.
Glad you enjoyed it, Thanks for watching
Hey M.B. thanks for becoming a member, can you PM me on FB or Insta, I need your address for your sticker pack
Great video. I have an 85 350x I just got in non running condition. Bought new carb, cleaned tank, and it fired up, but still havent drove it cuz no brakes and when I pull the clutch it still feels like its in gear. And I adjusted it to bottom out to max position.
My question is when I pull the clutch, shouldn't the bike be in neutral position and be able to move freely.
I didnt hear anything in the video about that. I just ordered new clutches from Barnett to be safe. Thank you
Hey Daniel, yes, Jack the trike up, make sure the carrier bearing and chain arnt binding, it should roll free with the clutch engaged. Please do ride it without brakes! Lol that's a firm rule for me, I dont bounce like I use too.
Great video brotha. But did you forget to put your new timing chain on? One easy way I take off the side cover is to leave the clutch cable connected. Remove all the bolts and pull the clutch lever. Pops right out with out banging on the case. Either way like your vids!
Hey Ricky no, I didnt forget, the video was specifically for doing the clutch, I have other work to do to that engine
I figured it was the way you edited the video👍 Thanks for the update! Love watching your channel! Much love from Los Lunas, New Mexico! I'll have to send you pics of my collection one day. My Curse lol. 👍👍👍
@@rickypena7634 Please do I love to include them in the " What are you ridding" section
Thank you very much sir! Just got a killer deal on a 1986 350X cause the clutch is slipping.
Hi Big Mike, great glad to help. I suggest replacing the clutch plates, steels and springs while you have it apart. If you can swing it a new clutch cable feels good too. here is a complete kit for that machine amzn.to/3T1fmnT
I had a question about my 3 wheeler. I have an 84 200es and I see people online saying theirs goes 40+ MPH. Mine goes only around 23 in 5th gear while redlining, or what seems like redlining. I’m wondering if something is making mine slow or I’m just supposed to go full throttle and redline to make it go full speed.
40mph seems fast for that machine, check a few things like: is there throttle cable stretched, and your not getting a full pull on it. do you need an new air filter, do you have the correct amount of oil, not over filled, is your carb adjust correctly, read your plug, How long has it been since you changed your plug? speed can be affected by many things even rider weight.
Another great video, thanks .
Thanks again!
Dig your videos. Keep em coming!
Thanks! Will do!
Thanks for sharing brother.
You bet
hey man a while ago i took apart and replaced my clutch and when i got finished i found a copper washer near where i was working. a few years have gone by and now my motos has aluminum metal in it. is there a copper washer in there anywhere or no?
I do not recall a copper washer, go to partzilla.com and look at the exploded view of the clutch to double check. There is a silver shim but no copper.
@@mrcbuilds ok yea thats what i thought im sure its from another bike. i just did another oil change today and there was only one little flake of metal in it. i think it was just debris from new clutch pack and neglecting previous oil change.
When I picked the bike up the guys 6 or 7 year old son was riding it so yeah most likely he was learning on it so he probably rode the clutch pretty hard lol
In this video you soaked the clutch for 24 hours in ATF however, in your latest video (December 23) you soaked the clutch in engine oil. Which one works best ? In your latest video you mentioned there could be an issue with the ATF contaminating the engine oil after installation, which makes sense. Which fluid works best for the soak ?
I have not had any issue in either machine, but i think moving forward i will just use oil.
@@mrcbuilds Nice, thank you for that information. 👍
Why atf and not oil I've always soaked them in oil but never heard of using trans fluid
Hey Aldamoney, The way it was taught to me was ATF soaks into and causes the pads to swell just a little bit, and that this swelling helps seat the disc against the steel's on the first initial uses of the clutch.
So just to make sure rotella t6 would work?!
Rotella 15/40 diesel oil with no friction modifiers. Equivalent to MA or MA2 oil.
My 3 wheeler slips at the beginning of my gears
Hi Kory, What machine are you working on?
First
Good to see you again Cain
