nice info about the centrifugal clutch cap thanks. was wondering if you would do a short video showing the set up for the rear brake foot lever? i see it has a reservoir there and i am setting up an auto x myself right now, lookin for ideas
But do you tighten them all the way down to the base? And if you do the spring seems useless you cannot depress them in any kind of way. Forgive me for if I ignorant but I'm trying to figure this out. Lol And thank you for replying anything will help at this point
Rebuild/clean up a whole 200ES inlc wiring only thing i don't touch is clutches (as previous owner said was running) whats it do when about to sell...not move FML right after breaking the brake cable on my TRX lol. Great video thanks
Hey Brent I just got a 1983 Honda 200s it runs great but the clutch slips sometimes not all the time you think just replacing the springs will solve my issue ? I'm hesitant to go in that far and just not replace it all ha ha I'd appreciate your opinion sir ty
What would the symptoms of a worn centrifugal clutch be? My 200s is weak at the beginning of every great like it's slipping then when you give it more gas it feels like it "locks in" and then takes off no problem
could very well be the centrifugal clutch its a very neglected part of the clutch system but a easy fix. basically same job to inspect the clutch pack as to inspect the centrifugal clutch. you want to see grooves in the clutch shoe material if thy are smooth thy need to be replaced
+Bret Pacora the bike moves freely in gear... my boyfriend put oil in it while it was hot and every since then it will not go in gear or move after I kick start it and try to take off
+Shanesha Grayson at this point it sounds like its time to open her up and see whats going on. for some reason the bike wont go into gear adding oil would not cause this, even if the clutch was bad it would not cause the bike not to go into gear.
+Shanesha Grayson it sounds like its not going into gear. ok do this and tell me what it does. with the bike not running put it into gear and try to move the bike. if it moves freely its not in gear and its not a clutch problem.
I have one that slips until u get going then it will grab do u have any idea on how to tell which one is bad before opening the motor ? Also if u hold the shifter down it free spin like it does on my honda 300 is this normal? For the little 200's
Mine slips after it's gotten going, which is probably just springs. Your problem is definitely centrifugal, try regrooving the pads a little deeper and smooth out the bell a little for some extra life for free.
a bolt that size will normally torque around 10 to 15 pounds i have never torqued them in the past and never had a problem if you are concerned about the torque use loctite on them and tighten them up the best you can. the most important thing is that thy go in at the same rate as thy are under spring tension.
Brent Pacora I wasn't able to get a video but all worked out great got the springs changed without needing to pull the centrifugal clutch, I put 15% stiffer springs, bites so well now!
I have a 1983 Honda 200x and it turns in but once I hit The clutch it will not go in to any gears or move.. I it the springs or the clutch it burned out.
+Shanesha Grayson once you release the clutch lever it will not move ? does the bike die if you try to put it in to gear with the clutch lever engaged?
+Brent Pacora just a heads up, the bike in the vid is a 200s motor in a 200x frame, a real 200x has a clutch lever that must be engaged with your hand.the 200s motor clutch is engaged with your foot with the shift lever if the shift lever is out of adjustment it will not engage the clutch.
well that is grate if you got a micrometer to measure with and the original factory spec but for the average guy in the backyard just trying to get the bike going the info should help.
Wow. Your video taught me more in 17 minutes than the last month reading the manual and looking at diagrams. Thank you so much. Well done Sir.
glad it helped thanks for commenting
I have done about 10 oil changes on mine and i have never known about the spinner. Thank you
best 17 minutes plus I've spent watching TH-cam ever.
Thanks hope it helped
atc 200s Best most reliable atv ever
thats how ive always done it friction discs and springs.... good video
Great video! Thanks Brent!
Thank you. I would never oil a gasket for a case unless I was told that.
would this be the same on the 200es shaft drive 1984?
good one about oil on the gasket thanks for that tip i will do that have a good one and keep on wrenching

i changed just the springs on my 83 200. works great now.
How tight do you tighten down the springs?
i just tighten them as much as i dared to.
But do you tighten them all the way down to the base? And if you do the spring seems useless you cannot depress them in any kind of way. Forgive me for if I ignorant but I'm trying to figure this out.
Lol
And thank you for replying anything will help at this point
tighten them each a little so it doesnt bind, but yes tighten them down all the way.
Is there a proper socket rather than making one?
Rebuild/clean up a whole 200ES inlc wiring only thing i don't touch is clutches (as previous owner said was running) whats it do when about to sell...not move FML right after breaking the brake cable on my TRX lol.
Great video thanks
that nut that is punched into the threads on clutch how do you get it off without ruining the shaft and do you need a new nut after?
Why do you keep the steels? If they come with new why not replace? Scratch that. Right as I said it the video shows they're sold separately lol
Where can get the springs, clutches?? Also , great video! Thanks
eBay I found just springs (10% stiffer) for under $11 for the set of 4 and entire kits for about $35.

if you are going in that far i would do the clutch discs to
Went to reinstall my clutch basket and it is not freely spinning like yours. Idk what I did wrong. Any insight?

@@dzjdxr thanks I'll take a look at it. Just did the clutch on my 200x it wasn't very hard
Thank you❤

Shanesha Grayson . I feel like its out of adjustment . I'm having clutch problems with mine also. but I'm going to rebuild mine
We will we will rock you
+Brent Pacora no it doesn't die it just doesn't move and yes everything is done with you foot ... it comes on it just will not move
+Shanesha Grayson it sounds like its not going into gear. ok do this and tell me what it does. with the bike not running put it into gear and try to move the bike. if it moves freely its not in gear and its not a clutch problem.

How many friction plates in total

yes sounds like its working as it should but as for the slipping it could be the centrifugal clutch

the nut from the 30mm socket will not come off, i use wd-40 and torch but nothing, not even with a large pipe helping me, that think got stucked !
remember the threads on that are reverse clockwise to remove
@@dzjdxr even the other way, would not come out, i have to cut it with angle grinder and order a new bolt "face palm"
14:44 how tight the bolts were
+GAR A are you asking what the torque is ?
yes Sir can you tell me please
a bolt that size will normally torque around 10 to 15 pounds i have never torqued them in the past and never had a problem if you are concerned about the torque use loctite on them and tighten them up the best you can. the most important thing is that thy go in at the same rate as thy are under spring tension.
ok thank you my Friend for ur time
GAR A
Reverse threads on crankshaft r
can i get the springs off without having to remove the centrifugal clutch ?
no unfortunately the bell for the centrifugal clutch is in the way and must be removed for access to the clutch pack.
Brent Pacora Are you sure few guys are saying other wise, I was thinking one bolt at a time then slide it out
try it you have nothing to lose, if it works post it and let me know.
Brent Pacora ok will do

Brent Pacora
Check behind your shifter shaft their is a spring that is about a quarter inch wide. It goes on a tab on the casing.
U missed and entire step to get first part off
measure stuff. those steel plates could very well be worn
well that is grate if you got a micrometer to measure with and the original factory spec but for the average guy in the backyard just trying to get the bike going the info should help.
