Lots of folks have pointed out that airlines don’t usually compensate for weather-related delays and cancellations. Sure, but a few things: 1. We had to fight even to get *rebooked* on a future flight, let alone be compensated for hotels/meals. They seemed happy to do absolutely nothing for us and leave us stranded in Dubai indefinitely. 2. If they hadn’t cancelled our original flights (that first cancellation was not weather-related, but likely due to their own staffing/equipment issues) we would have been on the earlier flight to JFK, which flew out on time and encountered no weather issues. So yes, the final cancellation was weather-related, but that was the final event in a sequence triggered by their non-weather-related cancellation, so really they were still at fault. 3. If you claim to be the world’s best airline, you should strive to do more than the absolute bare minimum required by law. It boggles my mind that Qatar Airways is totally okay with this drastic gap in quality between their in-flight experience vs every other customer touchpoint. I didn’t even get into how awful the call centers are 😅 If you’ve had the misfortune of calling them, you know exactly what I’m talking about.
Let me add that: 1. Several airlines have relationships with hotels that will provide weather-related delayed travelers with a discounted hotel voucher. You still have to pay, but at least it may be 20-50% off regular prices. 2. If you purchased travel insurance or your credit card provides travel insurance, one of the first questions the claim asks is, "What did the airline offer you in compensation." Failure to even ask may void or limit the amount you may receive. 3. I'll add to her #3 that airlines who specialize in international flights have more of a duty to ensure the safety and security of their travelers. If not just because of language barriers, health protocols, and unique laws, but about PR reasons. For every 1 person who watched this video and got educated for their trip, there are usually 3 others who just won't go to Qatar or UAE now. 4. It may have been lovely to stay the two extra days, but I might have asked if a flight to Paris or Rome was available and connect to NY there. You would still be delayed, but it at least it would be at a different location and possibly more inexpensive too.
At the end of the day, it is still a weather cancellation. Also, I don't think you should be mad they cancelled your first flight. If they didn't and something happened in the air (God forbid) the plane would fail and you wouldn't make this video. If you could've taken the extra hassle and possibly just booked another airline flight in business, you would be fine. I have once had a cancellation with Qatar and it was weather related. They acknowledged me super nicely they aren't allowed to give me vouchers. They were super nice about it and actually pointed me in the direction of agents if I wanted to get a different flight on another airline.
@@sax_cy i agree with you. Emirates is less apt to drop you and has a more comprehensive customer service approach. QA has a lot to learn from the competition
Thank you Dan! Yes I was fully expecting to make a video where I'd just be gushing for 15 minutes about how amazing Q Suites is. Had no idea we'd have to do this much storytelling LMAO! Hopefully next time we fly Qatar, it'll be a little smoother. But I'm def never flying them to/from Dubai ever again.
Yes you are right..its is absolutely normal for airlines to extend all those mentioned "freebies" when a flight is cancelled. This in most cases is usually during a technical fault of the aircraft but not when it's weather related.
They may not need to but it surprises me how much things have changed... As a child we experienced some huge technical issues on a long haul connecting emirates flight flying from Australia to the UK, we stopped in Singapore and got stuck on the tarmac for hours and hours. Eventually they transferred the entire plane to a gorgeous hotel for the night, free of cost... Until they could replace the plane and fly us out the next morning... Travelling as a child with a single mum, I cannot imagine them not doing this for passengers... 🤷🏼♀️
My 6 yr old has done over 50 flights and I 100% agree that well traveled kids are far more adaptable than us adults. He's also a better passenger than many adults too!
My two grandchildren have been travelling on overseas flights since the youngest was 4. I took both children plus my daughter from Australia to Heathrow in 2012 the children were 6 & 9. first part of the flight was 14 hours and they never whinged or complained the entire trip. I was so proud of them both. I agree that children who are well travelled are very adaptable.
The stock footage over the stressful testing situation has us laughing! The amount of opportunity cost calculations we have to do while traveling is insane these days and you captured that feeling perfectly! Your daughters were so amazing through that whole process and I’m so glad you were able to make your flight!
Yes thank god we were all healthy! At the end of the day that's what's important. But I did want to share this, because travel these days is very complicated and full of risk. And I don't think we should gloss over that.
One of the more professional looking, nicely done travel blogs I've watched---nice VO, script, gfx transitions and best of all, no nauseating, jarring camera footage! 👏👏👏You are one brave family to travel amidst the pandemic. But hats off for being able to country-hop in 2022! Wishing you safe travels and all the best!
This was a phenomenal video. We absolutely love Qatar Q suites. I left my tablet on one of our flights heading back to Toronto. I filed a notice and they found it immediately. However it took about 3 months before it was shipped back to from Doha to Toronto. Still amazed that such a service existed. Looking forward to flying them again this summer.
When delays and cancellations are weather related, airlines do not have the obligation to provide you with food, transportation and accommodations. It is only when the airline itself is at fault (crew shortages, mechanical issues etc.) that they are obliged to do so. One time my United flight got cancelled and I was rebooked the next day. I asked for a hotel voucher, but before they did that, the airport agent had to call the helpdesk to make sure that the cancellation reason was "MX" (mechanical) and not "WX" (weather) before proceeding to issue a voucher.
Amazing video!! Thank you for the realness! Sorry for the loss of your equipment. And, sorry you all had to endure so much! I too flew Qatar to Dubai through Doha. Economy tho. Excellent service! But, the experience from Dubai back to the US…OMG…they have to do something about the service in Dubai. I purchased an upgrade to QSuites 5 days prior to my flight. Unbeknownst to me, they oversold the upgrades. And because of this, the canceled my entire itinerary back to the US. I didn’t find this out til I got to DXB, and the reps looked at me and said “your itinerary was canceled. And, we don’t know what to do about this.” And sure enough, I had to wait for the ONE Qatar rep to help me. Took me 3 hours to get rebooked, lost my original economy seats, and missed out on the Priority Pass Lounge at DXB. Note to self, never fly Qatar out of DXB…EVER!!
I live in Abu Dhabi and frequently fly around the Gulf and on long-haul flights. I've had some disappointments and drama, but wow, this trip really takes the cake. I was even bumped from a Business Class flight because I had the wrong KIND of COVID test; it didn't matter that it was negative. Never got reimbursed. Wow, good on you for keeping up a positive attitude.
WOW!!! What an experience y’all went through. So sweet how the girls stayed positive.. Traveling can be stressful. At the same time you don’t want any surprises. Overall y’all make it safe.. Thanks for sharing this story.
Totally relate to your experience. We just flew Emirates last month February from SFO to Dubai. We had to run around SFO trying to redo our COVID test and reprint all of our documents. It was quite stressful, costed us $1000+ extra since there was five of us and we were sure we would not make the flight. Thankfully, at the last 45 mins before the counter closed, we received our result and have to rush check in and rush through security and made it to the gate as the final group was boarding. Once we got on the flight, all was well. We were fortunate enough to fly First Class on Emirates and WOW, was it amazing. One thing that saved us was that we arrived at SFO almost four hours before the flight and had the time to run around.
Omg that sounds so stressful! 🤦🏻♀️ Glad you had Emirates first class waiting for you but still! Can’t wait till this pandemic is over for real. It adds so many layers of stress and complexity to travel.
The “way too stressed out to Vlog” thing, though! I totally get that! Sometimes after some catastrophe happens, o think, “If o had videoed that, more people would probably have watched,” but even though, as an extroverted ambivert, I can typically be quite flexible and adapt quickly in a moment, my introverted side keeps me from being able to think quickly out loud with a camera in-hand when things don’t go as planned. 🤦🏽♂️ 🤷🏽♂️
Haha also I think it’s ok to be more human than vlogger. I’m actually a bit concerned by the creators whose first instinct when something bad happens, or their family is hurt is to whip out the camera. Not attend to their loved ones. I’m ok never being that type of TH-camr, frankly!
@@TopFlightFamily Yes! Agreed! We experience interruptions to our plans sometimes which would make for a great video, but I just have a hard time switching to video mode when I'm also trying to figure out where things went wrong and how to make them right, and how to communicate the changes to my family and the logistics of everything involved. AAAAHHH! One time, I was afraid that we mad e abas impression on a family of viewers who was greeting us and informing us that they watch our content because we happened to be meeting them when our tickets to an attraction weren't scanning properly, and I was on a time crunch to finish that attraction and be on the other side of Orlando for dinner reservations within two hours! That's one thing about the behind-the-scenes hustle, that I'm certain that only other creators understand. We're trying to make some great memories as a family all-the-while, it's also a business and we have schedules and deadlines, so it's like "Ya'll HURRY UP and have 15 minutes-of-video's-worth of fun here because we've got to get truckin' if we're going to make it to our next fun on-time!"
I’m watching this while quarantined in the Bahamas . We missed our flight coming here, had our luggage sent before us. Was stranded in our layover city for two days. Got Covid upon arrival and have literally spent way too much money. I cried when you spoke about your daughters. I have two sons that have been so graceful during this crazy week. They haven’t even got to enjoy the resort but they haven’t complained. I’ll be sure to reward them when we get home . Thanks for that reminder.
Boy I loved your video. I started flying at age 6. So many flights with weird situations like reviewing water landing with with life vests but not inflated, men were given the life boat which wasn’t inflated. It was just instructional. And were flying over the Bermuda Triangle. Water, water, everywhere. My first flight on our way to Puerto Rico. Being military brat you learn to be flexible, only person to emotionally difficult was my dad or my mom. My mom and I flew together often until my siblings came a long 4 & 5 years later. Saw since those days the changes to plane seat configuration, visits to the cockpit to get flying wings from the captain, smoking, food, etc. Loved the horseshoe configuration seats at the back of the plane. This was an upgrade my mom was offered. I think it might have been cherry pie the flight attendants gave me. We always missed connects and had to run to some obscure gate far out in Atlanta main hub was Yes it does prepare you be remain calm. Many times we were given great service when we were acting like some of other people are acting. Sometimes when the plane is deemed to a mechanical problem I chalk it up that I might not have had a positive ending. In fact the Captain came to talk to all of us to explain that he is required to visible walk around aircraft to look for anything that looks as out of place. Especially a previous flight that might have hit a bird. Sure enough he was right that a blade in engine was a few millimeters bent. So they had pull the plane. Glad he spotted which could be some breaking news on flight home. Then as years went on and to use handicap help for mom. You get to learn how to navigate. As when we got to Spain live in Barcelona. It a lot like charades when don’t know language. I think all these experiences are great for kids. Maybe I should do handicap services flying bucket lists. Great thank you.
Oh my gosh this is so crazy! I cannot believe the service from what is meant to be a 11/10 airline. I love your travel videos with your two children, it’s great to see them exploring the world & how important it is for you all as a family.
Great video. We had a similar experience with Qatar flying to Maldives. We were denied boarding in Chicago because our PCR test would have been expired when we arrived in Doha. It was super stressful and costly. We took new PCR tests, rebooked with Emirates and had a wonderful time in Maldives 🇲🇻.
Despite the circumstances here that made travel a bit difficult with all the risks. Am so happy there is a review like this out there for Qatar. I’ve been worried how I would fly in premium air travel with my family and am so glad to see this perspective that’s from a caring mother and husband with children. I really like getting all the nuances with family and kids cause it gives me new things to consider to make sure my experience for my tribe is well planned out and I know what to ask for. And I really love the kid’s perspective too! Thank you Shawn! ❤❤
I thoroughly enjoyed your video. It's not cool that you went through all you went through AND now have to justify your frustration. I am now better educated though so it was worth watching and your family is SO sweet. I love that you guys are doing this together!
Thank you for blogging about this so people who travel can at least get a heads up on how your drama entailed. Your girls are such a joy and for you and your husband I would like to say gr8 parenting!
Great video. The Covid overlay certainly adds a lot of stress and cost. My son's girlfriend arrived in Singapore for a holiday in February, with negative Covid tests, and valid vaccinations, and valid visa, but there was a typo on the date of her Singapore Covid pass (5 days wrong). She was interrogated for two hours, thrown in immigration detention ( a prison unit at the airport) and deported the next day. Glad that didn't happen to Serge.
I think it's so sad that you have to constantly qualify that yes, you are allowed to be upset when things don't work out as planned (and yes, sometimes the airline is at fault for that disappointment). If your husband was the one narrating no one would bat an eye.
Yep! People really think that if you get to fly business class, that means you give up all rights to having an opinion on what the experience was like. Making valid critiques about the service you received does not mean that you feel zero appreciation or gratitude for being able to fly it in the first place. But as you can tell, we've been on the internets long enough to know what feedback to expect LOL. Even with my multiple layers of warnings, some viewers still couldn't hold back in the comments section! The point of a review is to give fellow travelers a realistic picture of what to expect. That means discussing the negative along with the positive.
So sorry to see that you had such bad luck during your travel! I agree that Qatar airways could have contacted you earlier regarding your items you forgot on-board (it happens to most of us!😅). They won't accommodate passengers as the cancelation was due to weather and most commonly known as a act of God. Most airlines will not book accommodation. They will only provide it if let say the aircraft went technical/ delayed inbound flight or something similar. Travel insurance is sometimes overlooked but it is a great thing to have. I wish you and your family happy and safe travels ahead. Love your videos!
Y’all are amazing!!! Love your channel! Very sweet the way you gave your sweet girls a shout out! They always make me smile, they’re hilarious!!! Safe travels!!!
Calm and confident is what moments like this need. I have had a few such situations since the start of COVID in a few different continents, and really the best thing to do is visualize things turning out alright, and on occasion having a bit of flexibility as to what that means. Sounds like your girls are naturals for that. Lucky them!
My dad was a diplomat so I got to travel a lot and I can say confidently that travel 100% benefits kids. Apart from flexibility and resilience it also gives them experiences that develops abilities that simply can't be taught in a class. It also sensitizes them to diversity For example, it was in one of my dad's posts (Nairobi) that I got to learn Swahili fluently and also Somali (here I'd say I'm a novice bc its such a beautiful language but its hard to even speak or hear lol) just by interacting with locals. I also learned French in just a year purely by interacting with people when he was posted at Brussels. Knowledge in languages came really handy when I was making my application for college. A lot of travel also taught me a thing or two about independence. Once after a Christmas break when we returned States-side to visit family, my parents and my older brother went ahead of me bc I had fallen sick during the break. Believe it or not, my dad left me with cash, a credit card, my passport and a letter of clearance from the embassy and told me to make my way to Nairobi as soon as I was able to (mind you, I was 12 at this point). This scared my mom and my grandma (especially my grandma because she offered to accompany me but I declined despite protest). All this time my dad had confidence that I would be just fine.... Believe it or not, I booked myself a flight with the most amount of stops for the adventure of it (I booked with this site that tried to reduce prices by adding stops for more adventurous passengers so my route looked something like this: Dallas Fort Worth (starting airport)- JFK- London Heathrow- Tokyo Narita- Mumbai- Oliver Tambo Johannesburg- Nairobi JKIA) and I still made it to Nairobi safe and sound (and with mementos from too!). I'd really like to give my kids the same experiences I got (baby number one is just 3 months away 🥳🎉) because in this current world, all that is needed is more understanding and diversity plus one needs to be a global citizen to compete in its current environment. Great stuff! You definitely got a subscribe from me!
Wow sounds like you had a pretty amazing childhood! And that flight with the many stops must have been quite the adventure haha. Thanks for sharing, and appreciate you watching and subscribing!
I can truly relate with the panic and mess with the PCR test. I had to do so much mental math and pay 5X extra for a test that could be done and results delivered on-time for my arrival at Doha when I first came to work here, down to asking the lab to write the time and date of the test in UTC instead of my local time (I already knew how close and square minded officials are in this country)
Good lawd!!! Y’all had too much drama on this one. Glad Serge was doing well during quarantine and your girls are the best under pressure. I knew this after the “lion incident” 😂😂. Great vid!!
I am flying this week to Germany with Qatar airways but I’m not sure if it’s gonna be Qsuit but it’s definitely not economy and this video helped me a lot ❤❤
Thousands of people are dying every day but watching the first world problems of this family makes me calm... What about just checking the entry requirements a few days before check-in.....
Amazing content and story! Thank you for sharing and giving REAL feedback with a positive attitude. My daughter is 9 and is on the autism spectrum and loves to fly. She so enjoys watching your videos! Thank you so much!
OMG. That was a lot! That is why I am so apprehensive about traveling since 2020. I can not handle all of the extra steps, and the possibility of being denied my flight. 😳 But, your girls handle all of it with grace🤗😊. Wow, I couldn't imagine haven't to leave my family member behind so so so far away from home. Omggg. I would have been stressed the entire time. Great content!! 👍 and I learned a lot as well.
Ommmggggggg I love your videos!!! You are a really good story teller. And I love that you gave your complete POV of the experience. I Have been so scared to attempt to travel out of country because of all of the new rules due to covid. And as someone who is not rich at all lol I would have just been stuck on a trip if I had these problems. Thank you for this video. You gave me a lot to think about and a lot to make sure I research and plan for in the future.
This was the first of your videos I have seen and I was impressed. I thought you must have held back on expressing your frustration at events on the ground. Never be frightened to be critical of airlines as potential passengers need to understand these points. Finally, you are fully entitled to be "entitled" given the huge amounts you must be paying for these flights.
Lovely. Lovely video. Could you just run through which seats to pick when traveling and want to make it a double bed? Seems like you were saying odd but highlighting the even and vice versa.
This was a genuinely fascinating insight to the challenges of travelling now. There are many things I would view to be divaish, but managing the stress of travel with children in these circumstances is absolutely not one of them. I found Qatar’s ground service to be extremely poor - I lost a phone and informed them at the end of the jet bridge and it couldn’t be found in Doha. Here’s to happier and easier adventures ahead.
Awesome Awesome Awesome video!!! I'm so sorry that you guys experience was so difficult this go round! But I will say that I commend you for turning this into an educational experience for us so that our expectations can come down a little bit and be on the realistic side. It doesn't matter sometimes "How much you pay for something", there's always an underbelly to everything and I appreciate you for sharing your experience with this airlines operations. I'm sure it's not like this 24/7 but even the "Best" has it off times. And I'm so relieved that Surge avoided symptoms and came through. So thank you for another great transparent and informative showcase! We now know to "NOT' expect rainbows and unicorns and to travel with a lot of flexibility and patience. Thank you once again and look 4ward 2 the next adventure! Cheers Top Flight Family!!! Oh and P.S.> Those "Hotter versions of you", ain't got nothin on the real you😆I'm sure Surge will agree😅 Stay safe and be blessed! Fan 4 Life!
Yes I'm so grateful we were all healthy and nobody had to be hospitalized! At the end of the day that's what's most important. But yeah this trip was a mess lol and I felt it was important to share as an example of a worst case scenario.
Heyyy. Coming over from your Emirates VS Qatar comparison vid. You chose Qatar even though a stressful check in. So wanted to see what that was. Oh. COVID testing started the drama in boarding pass delays. Wow. I thought they had testing in every terminal and airline. Wait. $880 to be tested for 4 🫤🤦♀️. Awww. Sean and Ella are travel pros. Glad it all worked out. Love the seating and dine on demand with any section from the menu. I’m hollering 😂 at your drink edit. I like fruity as well. Amazing you change into provided pajamas but I have JetBlue extra legroom seat mentality. Dubai looks beautiful. Even the airport and lounges and first class check in looks amazing. Oh boy. Another COVID test. Oh no. You didn’t get your cameras 🎥 back. Sorry about that. Wait. Serge now positive? Then negative? Silly question but does Qatar and Emirates have regular/economy seats 💺 or similar seats to JetBlue extra leg seats? I’m surprised they cancelled the flight then offered no assistance 🤷🏻♀️. Wow. So Serge had to isolate 10 days and you and the girls flew back. Extra $ spent indeed. One trip on both ends of the spectrum. Stressful and fabulous at the same time. Thanks for sharing and see you next video.
Yes they all have economy sections too! We flew Emirates economy when we went to the Maldives in late 2020. Emirates recently introduced a premium economy product (like extra legroom) but it’s not widely available yet.
Re Pre-chek .... I had a similar thing happen at Orlando airport in January. My sister-in-laws boarding pass showed her pre-chek. Mine did not. The regular line was Huge (I'd guess over an hour, easily). It was quicker for me to go back to check-in and get my boarding pass properly done. Even the fast lane was slow, so I may have well missed my flight had I not gone back to check in. Lesson learned, I'll check everytime now.
I just started following your family and this is so informative and FUN! (Even with the drama) I can't wait to fly internationally. Your girls are AWESOME! Can't wait to see next video.
I’m so glad your family trip ended up working out. Your experience was definitely filled with drama but it was so interesting to see what international travel is like right now. I really enjoyed your commentary! 😊 It would be such a dream to fly Q Suites one day! I hope your next experience is a better one!
6:33 And that is why here in Japan, parents let their kids go by themselves alone to school everyday since they are little. They need to know to be independent and to navigate and resolve problems by themselves. But I guess security is also a huge factor in other countries, to not let kids there do so.
I work in aviation and will mention that, if the cancellation is the result of weather or something else out of the airline’s control, they will not provide accommodations or meal vouchers. If the cancellation is at fault of the company (I.e maintenance), that is when you are entitled to a hotel room.
I had my flight delayed 6 hours due to weather issues they gave me a hotel for the night, food at the hotel and taxi transfers all for free this was all in Dubai and was travelling with emirates
The way your girls were holding hands down the jet bridge made me a little jelly... Our oldest son and middle daughter fight tooth and nail, NEVER would they willingly hold hands like that! Your girls seem to be really close friends, that is awesome!
Oh nooo :/ As a flight attendant I can tell u that we are supposed to do a security check after all passengers leave the plane to make sure no one left anything behind and report immediately every item we find and hand it to lost and found! And airlines just have to hand you a voucher if it’s a mechanic problem ect (airline problem) :/ weather problems are not included unfortunately but I can understand that as a business passenger they could had take more care of you
Thank you I stumbled upon your video and I loved it one of the best I've ever seen. I agree with you about everything my goodness. I subscribed and can't wait to see the journeys to come thanks again.
Wow, so much respect for your girls 👏🏼 and you weren’t kidding when you said “What a Mess”🤦🏻♂️🤣 Glad you are all ok, especially Serge with the Covid🙏🏻
Wow, now that I’ve seen the whole segment, you really got it all. I dealt with all of these scenarios over the last couple years, but not all on one trip. You’re definitely not whining, and you have my empathy, But I have indeed spent several hundred dollars on multiple COVID tests (and transportation related to it) all over a false negative, and not really even thinking about the several hundred dollars, because I had around $17,000 already paid in Maldives for a trip that wouldn’t be very possible to cancel at the last minute. In the end, it all worked out, but that wasn’t even the last COVID nightmare for me. There’s the time I was told to self-isolate in UK even though I had tested negative, but had been on a flight where one of the 100 other passengers was positive, and my vaccination was accepted as exemption to enter, but not as exemption if you’d been “exposed.” And there is the time when, like your husband, we had no symptoms but my travel companion and I both tested positive and had to quarantine in Finland after spending ten days north of the Arctic circle. But know that your two girls are amazing, and they’re going to live such wonderful lives thanks to the doors you are opening for them now.
Amazing! No you’re not a pre-madonna! I am very well traveled, and yes, it’s my experience too that with canceled flights the airlines are very accommodating! Nice video despite all the drama! Thank you!!!
I flew from DFW to Dubai in Qatar airways July/18/2022 returned August 04 2022 also on business class I loved the food and everything thank god I didn’t experience any of these issue 🙏 after watching this video I don’t think I’ll book Qatar airways for this reason I’m planning to go to Dubai soon inshallah I’ll try another airline I hate what happened to you guys I love your videos keep it real ❤🙏
Man that's crazy... I remember taking a trip down to MCO for a Disney Cruise and our flight leaving our home airport to Newark was delayed due to high winds... by the time we got there, we missed our connecting flight to MCO. Because multiple people missed connections and this was late in the night, no other flights were available that day, but they still booked us on flights first thing the next morning and were willing to comp us a stay at a hotel overnight. (Mom wasn't having it cause she didn't want to miss the shuttle and potentially miss this early morning flight so we slept in the airport... but I did want to at least point out they were willing to help us out. We got meal vouchers instead.) And this was back in the mid-2000's too. Even if weather was "technically" involved, Qatar still could've at least offered SOMETHING. I know restrictions can vary but you're in a foreign country and traveling internationally... that really is a bad stain on the company.
I know I am going to sound sexist....but you have such a patient husband. I feel like women can get through these mishaps.....but dealing with the men, not the kids in these situations is what would totally derail most people. I literally cant even sit next to my husband on a flight....I would rather sit in my own row with strangers....and I do. Your girls are incredible...a lot of kids would be scared or feeding off the parents insane anxiety and energy......that is why they are so relaxed....they have great role models that don't lose it in the terminal and you guys, because you are so experienced, allow PLENTY OF TIME just in case..... Love your channel!!! I don't even have little kids but I still subscribed..... 💕💕
Hahaha yes Serge and I are both Capricorns so by nature we're very chill. But this was a serious test for us. And yes I'm so proud of our girls! They did amazing on this trip.
You got rebooked right away on air Canada because there’s like 10 flights a day from Toronto to New York on AC. There’s only one flight a day from Doha to New York. You’re comparing apples to oranges.
Lovely video explaining all the drama your family had to undergo, especially travelling in the midst of the pandemic. I hope your family had a good insurance to cover all these extra costs.
My grandfather passed away and we were flying American Airlines and our flight got delayed for 1 hour to go to Doha.then they revealed that our flight was cancelled just because 1 crew mate wasn’t here and we had to complain and as an return they gave us was like thousands of credit which we didn’t need so instead they decided to upgrade us to business class for free sometimes I can get annoyed by American Airlines 🇺🇸
The Covid tests rules are governed by individual countries government and recently there are so many changes in the rules especially we are not familiar during this period and we do get confuse at times. Travelers will always worried about contracting COVID. I also used to travel with Qatar to Europe frequently during pre-Covid days and there are 2 things that surprises me in your video: 1. The airline is not compassionate to Qatar customers in terms of cancellation flights with no hotel/meals provided. This is kinda of weird for today's standard. You will only expect that from budget airlines. 2. Post Covid Travelling Qatar Business airfare does exclude lounge visits. (which I had recently checked too). This is also something very new and different. Previously I was quite pissed with Qatar when they did a changed on aircraft type after I did an intense research on getting Qsuites . This is a good video to show what is our expectation vs reality. Good job!
Lots of folks have pointed out that airlines don’t usually compensate for weather-related delays and cancellations. Sure, but a few things:
Let me add that:
Wow

So many mishaps on this trip!!! I appreciate your honesty and it didn't come across as whining. Kudos to Sean and Ella for their positive attitude.
It was just one thing after another lol. And yes! So proud of the girls. They were amazing on this trip - they really were.
Great video as always guys! So sorry about all the drama - it makes for an entertaining video at least🤣
Hiya
😂😂😂😂😂
Nonstop Dan I am a fan
Nonstop Dan, I'm an air conditioner ❤️
Yes you are right..its is absolutely normal for airlines to extend all those mentioned "freebies" when a flight is cancelled. This in most cases is usually during a technical fault of the aircraft but not when it's weather related.
Wrong, airlines outside of Europe DO NOT have to extend courtesies following cancelled flights.
See my pinned comment above.
But I had American give me freebies due to a weather related delay. Even got a flight credit.
@@Moi_81 that's great👍🏾
My 6 yr old has done over 50 flights and I 100% agree that well traveled kids are far more adaptable than us adults.
Wow, what an adventure. I was getting anxiety just watching how stressful the trip was. I’m glad you guys finally made it back to NYC safe.
This ^
See my pinned comment above.
It wasn’t weather related
Thank you! And yes so proud of the girls. They were amazing on this trip.
Your girls are awesome! I like hearing the stuff that doesn’t go as planned. It helps me mentally think through what I might do. Thanks.
Yes! Travel is SO complicated now! It's important to know what you could be getting into.
I love that you treat your kids to these luxuries!! Such amazing parents
We always missed connects and had to run to some obscure gate far out in Atlanta main hub was
Yes it does prepare you be remain calm.
I can listen to your voice the whole day. You are a phenomenal storyteller!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed your video. It's not cool that you went through all you went through AND now have to justify your frustration. I am now better educated though so it was worth watching and your family is SO sweet. I love that you guys are doing this together!
Yes, Ella and Sean are something very special, smart and emotional intelligent. Amazing young ladies with super amazing parents!!!
Oh. My. God. That is insane! How terrifying to have to go through that.
Best part of your Vlog has to be your narration, very fluid and natural, what a journey.
Totally feel you, pina colada is definitely my thing and every now and again getting caught in the rain is too.
Thx for this video, we are flying a family of 4 and was unsure how to choose the quad seats!
Your daughters are the most precious smartest most adorable girls ever!! Well done on their education ❤ you can be proud of them and of yourself ❤👏🏼
Binge watching your channel and this is my favorite so far. Laughed at the “hotter version of me” and the Ina Garten reference👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Lucky them!
First time watching and I loved it. Your daughters stole my heart.
Your daughters are such a blessing…to us all ❤️
Kudos to Sean and Ella. You must be so proud of them. They are professional travelers❤
3:15 I LOL'd at "the hotter version of me" stock footage. Glad you gave us the good, the bad, and the ugly of this flight!
I'd really like to give my kids the same experiences I got (baby number one is just 3 months away
🥳🎉) because in this current world, all that is needed is more understanding and diversity plus one needs to be a global citizen to compete in its current environment.
Great stuff! You definitely got a subscribe from me!
Wow sounds like you had a pretty amazing childhood! And that flight with the many stops must have been quite the adventure haha. Thanks for sharing, and appreciate you watching and subscribing!
You guys are awesome 👏🏻. I would have gone nuts in this situation 😂. Thx for the information though!
Hi Great video ! Thank you for sharing the reality of traveling these days with such careful detail.
Such a genuine review. Loved it and love your voice
I love watching you guys. ❤️
Amazing content and story! Thank you for sharing and giving REAL feedback with a positive attitude. My daughter is 9 and is on the autism spectrum and loves to fly. She so enjoys watching your videos! Thank you so much!
Fantastic video. Really enjoyed it.
The number of times I laughed and cursed at the same time was breaking records out here haha. Great video!
i took the Q suite once and it went perectly smooth (even arrived early), having one bad flight doesn't mean the seat or the airline is bad
I‘ve very sorry for bad experience with your experience. You are appropriate with how you feel. I hope your next experience is better.
Wow, it open my eyes! I can’t handle this kind of stress! Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Great Video!!!! Thanks for sharing your ups and down travelling moments.
Such a beautiful family!!
I really love watching your videos. Your edits are funny!
I really like your videos very much too. Very relatable. Wishing you many enjoyable travels in 2024.
@@TopFlightFamily And yes! I'm so happy that EVERYBODY is healthy!
Great video as always, I’m sorry you had to go through all that ordeal. Qatar airline is definitely on my bucket list.
Really appreciate the plane review. Subbed.
Hello 👋🏾. New subscriber here and I love your normalcy and humor🥰
Great content 👍 not too sparkly with rainbows and unicorns 😂😂🤣🤣 keep up the good work with these videos
What a cute family. Love watching your trips and experiences. Covid and them testing can be pain in the azzz. Great video
Would be interesting to know how you can afford your multiple trips. Seems incredible🇦🇺
happens all time where airlines don't help with accommodation. in QLD Australia we had floods and people had to book their own accommodation
Thanks guys for the candid information.
I LOVE how honest you are with this!
Omg! What an episode 😱 But great a episode! Loved it!!!
I absolutely loved this video. So sorry you went through this stressful experience but happy that you enjoyed business class.
I’m going on that on Monday with my family to Indonesia and just sub your channel because I love your re views of the plan ♥️
Aww love your beautiful family! I'm a new subscriber and am loving your content!
Dieu vous a fait tellement du bien, vous êtes béni la famille et je suis très heureuse pour vous. 🙏🏿🖐👌🏻
Just a great video. Loved it.
The Covid tests rules are governed by individual countries government and recently there are so many changes in the rules especially we are not familiar during this period and we do get confuse at times. Travelers will always worried about contracting COVID.
I also used to travel with Qatar to Europe frequently during pre-Covid days and there are 2 things that surprises me in your video:
Good job!
Love qsuites. Took last year from SEA-DOH-AtH last year and back. It was fab!!!!
Wow! How long was that altogether? Sounds amazing. The in flight experience was impeccable. No doubt!
Your story telling is so beautiful.....clam and smooth
