  • Did you know that Emirates business class flights are NOT all the same, even on the same route? And if you book the wrong type of flight, you’ll be paying the same high fare, but you’ll get a far inferior experience. So if you want to avoid this mistake, and learn lots of other tips on how to make the most of your Emirates business class experience, check out this video. We flew from JFK to Dubai on the A380, and from Dubai to Nairobi on the 777. And did the same thing on the way back.

The number of commenters who have taken issue with my remarks about the chauffeur making no attempt to help with our bags, must have never taken a taxi, an Uber, a SuperShuttle, a free parking lot shuttle, a free hotel shuttle, or literally any vehicle other than their own car to the airport before. Because the drivers from all these services routinely help you get your bags on and off the vehicle.
Is it a mandatory part of their job? Probably depends on the company. Is it standard courtesy and etiquette? Yes.
But some of you are acting like I just invented some brand-new standard for airport drivers. 😅
When you consider the fact that only revenue passengers (i.e. those who bought their plane tickets with cash, not points or miles) are eligible for the chauffeur drive, it's odd that the standards would be so low for the passengers who are paying the most.
Now granted, we are New Yorkers so we know that the service in NYC often sucks, even at the luxury/high end of things. So I'm sure the service you get from a Black Lane driver in other parts of the country and world is probably better. But NYC is one of Emirates' biggest markets, so I'd think it would be a priority to get this part of the experience right.

Mam, incase you are not aware, most Transportation Network Drivers are NOT required to lift baggages because of liability issues. If you come across a driver who does not lift the luggage as a courtesy, try to understand, some of them may look healthy but may have back issues. Thumb rule for anyone who uses Transportation Network regularly, if you could pack the luggage, you could lift it and put it in the trunk. No offense, but you sounded like it's part of riding in a Transportation Network car. It's NOT.

If it was me, I would politely ask them to lift my luggage, just because I stand 4'11, have back issues and def would be hard for me to lift my suitcases. I think this is how some Business class goers act. 😶

Finally someone i agree with! Its sooo unfair to point out something for what's not thier job to do. Its more of a courtesy thing, if you want help, request it! And some drivers are just very sweet they just go out of their way to help and people are too privileged to notice it!

I watched this because I'm thinking of buying business class seats on Emirates from JFK to Athens with my teens this summer. Only thing is they only have the 777 which is a bummer but the 380 coming back from Athens with a stopover in Dubai. I guess you didn't totally lose because you were able to experience both at one time and review it. Glad I watched. Great review!

I had an awful experience with Qatar. They would not keep the woman behind me from messing with me hair, yelling at me, and kicking my seat. They were also mean to the woman next to me. Great review. I just flew from SFO to Dubai on a 777 business class. 12-8-21 to 12-19-21. I didn’t think I have an option for the A380. One thing, I didn’t like was I had a window seat and there was some one seated in the aisle and when he was sleeping, I had a hard time climbing over him to use the restroom… kinda sucked. I just flown JAL busines last week from SFO to BKK and their 777 had their own pathway so you are not bothering any other passengers.

Thank you. I have been wondering about the window seats on the 777-300 as I am a short solo traveller and all the reviews I’ve seen haven’t clearly shown how easy it is to get to the aisle from the window seat. Thankfully only one 7-8 hr sector with 777. All others are A380.

For long haul, it's really EK777 First (superior suites) = EK380 First (showers make it equal) > QR Business QSuites > any other business class with suite-like doors/enclosure > EK380 Business along with every other airline business class in a 1-2-1 or 1-1-1 config > EK777 Business
I don't care about the crew service if I have to struggle to climb over a stranger whenever I need to go to the loo. Turkish for example can be better than EK380 business but you have to avoid TK777. The 777s I noticed tend to get the worst business products in the posh middle eastern airlines.

Nice trip! I've done a lot of flying on Emirates and, by far, the A380 is the plane to book. With Covid, lots of Triple Sevens were substituted and I rarely have complaints about that aircraft -- but if flying Emirates business, it's a big downgrade in experiences. I've only had to "tough-out" two business class segments that way: one aboard a Triple seven from Dubai to Colombo (Sri Lanka) and the other from Cochin (India) back to DXB on an old A330 before they were retired. I had a window seat to Colombo (in the dead middle of the night with a 2:30 am departure), so bothering another guy to get up was inconvenient for us both. Emirates consistently flies A380s to New York now, but it did revert to 777s during the Covid crunch. (My first round-trip to Dubai aboard Emirates was a Triple-Seven BOTH ways, so be glad.) Even their Milan "Fifth Freedom" stop flight is back aboard the Big Boy, so everybody's happy. If you get a newer 380 model, the banquette seating in the lounge is more spacious and less weird than the crescent-shaped benches, but I quibble. EK is a remarkable product. The business lounge in the A380 terminal in Dubai is E-NORMOUS and kind-of disorienting, but you're usually bombed out with jet lag and it does fine. The spas are indeed revitalizing if one has a layover as long as yours. Enjoy treating your girls to premium seating, and what a pleasure it must be to show them around the world in such style! Enjoy your 22 in '22!

Completely agree with regards to your point about aircraft type. EK 777 is one of the worst Business class experiences anywhere, and I’ve done it a few times (once even paying a huge additional amount at the airport just to move to First as I couldn’t consider the long flight from Bali to Dubai in the back row of a 777 business cabin.
A380 is a totally different story, although my first business on the A380 had me in the “window” seat that was staggered close to the aisle and actually didn’t have a window (one of the rows with a missing window). So even row number, you have to be careful about. Since you went into considerable detail about picking seats, this could be something you add.
Thanks again for a great channel that I’m probably going to spend way to much time on!

I completely agree that the A380 is WORLDS better than the 777, having flown on the A380, 777-300 and the 777-200. The 1-21 configuration is becoming a focus on business class of many airlines as many airlines are moving away from the idea of first class and focusing on business class instead. It seems Emirates is still focusing on first class, especially considering the amazing first class they released on the 777-300. The 777-200 is not bad if you get an aisle seat, but again yes the 380 is better. Its unfortunate that you have to be in a city that has the 380 though. Living in Washington DC and also being near JFK also, I have multiple options to fly the 380, but cities like Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Miami etc. are all stuck with the 777 on long haul flights. I hope in the next 5 years Emirates will catch up with Qatar and Ethiad when it comes to business class. Still an amazing service and experience though.

I completely agree, although I was rather disappointed by the lack of a "C" and "H" and "I" seats within this aircraft. These letters feel unrepresented by this airline. If all the continents can be represented, then why can't all the letters of the alphabet? I would've been more satisfied on a B927. I also reside in Washington DC (when I want to at least). My favorite place is Qatar! QATAR AIRLINES FOR THE WIN!!!

Thanks for the review. Interesting comparing Delta's Flight Attendants (FAs) to Emirates. As you may or may not know, once the Delta FAs reach seniority, the chances of them losing their job is close to zero. In comparison to Emirates' FAs, they are on an employment contract which is directly tied to their visa. If there are any issues with their employer, they are released and would need to leave UAE as soon as possible since their visa is no longer valid. That is some motivation.

@@remmond3769 that's why I do not despise economic crises.
When shyt hits the fan, the commonfolk hang on to their jobs with all the gratitude in the world. Forget benefits, forget welfare, when the commonfolk see unemployment numbers skyrocketing, they become thankful they even have a job.
      It's a fked up world.
And you know what's worse about unions?
Those minority few who dont believe in ganging up to squeeze their employers are either not allowed to opt out of unions, or if they are allowed to opt-out, they get demonised by all the other workers.
      Fked up, isnt it.

The difference between North American flight attendant and Emirates is Union…. Withe jurâtes there is only 3 size of uniforms, if you don’t fit in the biggest one you are given 3 months to fit in, if you don’t succeed …. Bye bye. With North American flight attendant …. That’s another story, I personally fly a lot for business and most of my flight are not on North American companies…. Size do matter ….and if you don’t care about the way you look, imagine how you do care in downing your job properly with pride !!!

Great report . I often travel Cape Town - London via Dubai . Huge difference in Business Class from Africa flights , middle seats in business class - ugh.

seatguru is good for checking on configurations. They are also responsive to people alerting them to changes in seating. Years ago I had seat 30A on an Air France 777-300 ER which with 30B was a pair of economy seats immediately forward of a toilet area. Anyway, on the Air France seatguru page that layout was not listed, so I put in a comment or feedback & they fixed it within days!

Some 777-200LRs have the new 2-2-2 J class config. I think EK is using them on trans-atlantic flights. They will start using that on the 17 hrs DXB-AKL route soon to replace their 380s. Looking forward to trying that later this year myself and compare with the 380 experience. But, yes, paying for a business class and get older planes kinda sucks.

Fact: the L1011 Tristar had an option to install a cocktail bar in the forward section. You accessed it by going down a staircase because it was at the same level as the cargo bays. Of course, the airlines figured it would be better to let their customers bring more luggage so they never ordered this option. I remember one of my first flights was on an L1011 with Cathay Pacific from Singapore to Hong Kong. When looking at the engine from my window, I learned that Rolls Royce is two companies: there's the automobile division and the aircraft division! So that brand sticker on the engine is no joke. And having flown it several times, I can actually close my eyes and tell if the engine is a RR. It produces a very distinctive "whine" that I don't hear on GE or Pratt & Whitney engines.

When I was in Iceland, I threw caution to the wind and took off my layers except a t-shirt since I was getting sweaty hiking a long hill because I figured I won’t see anyone on the hike ever again… only to find the next day people I met on the hike ended up on the same boat tour the next day (total coincidence)! Ha ha!

Job well done! I plan on flying LAX to DXB to SIN later this year, and will def not make the mistake of booking Boeing 777! Thanks for the heads up 😁

We said we had already been in the first lounge for hours and wanted to check this out. I’ll be trying biz with them soon. Looking forward to it but I miss first…
