Since launching PS5, we’ve been amazed to see how players around the world have embraced the generational leaps we made in the gaming experience, such as the heightened feeling of immersion delivered by the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers in the DualSense wireless controller. Our PlayStation community continues to give us a reason to challenge ourselves to bring new innovations to the market for all players to enjoy. That’s why today, we are especially pleased to share new updates about our upcoming hardware products.
In May, we gave a quick peek at our dedicated PS5 remote play device - now called PlayStation Portal remote player, and our first wireless earbuds, called Pulse Explore. Today we’re pleased to share more details about these products and reveal a new PlayStation over-the-ear wireless headset, Pulse Elite. Both Pulse Elite and Pulse Explore deliver low latency lossless audio from PS5 and PlayStation Portal using our new PlayStation Link wireless technology. PlayStation Portal remote player
PlayStation Portal remote player brings the PS5 experience to the palm of your hand. It includes the key features of the DualSense wireless controller, including adaptive triggers and haptic feedback*. The vibrant 8-inch LCD screen is capable of 1080p resolution at 60fps, providing a high definition visual experience that’s expected from the high quality games created by world-class developers.
PlayStation Portal is the perfect device for gamers in households where they might need to share their living room TV or simply want to play PS5 games in another room of the house. PlayStation Portal will connect remotely to your PS5 over Wi-Fi**, so you’ll be able to swiftly jump from playing on your PS5 to your PlayStation Portal. PlayStation Portal can play supported games that are installed on your PS5 console and use the Dualsense controller. It also includes a 3.5mm audio jack for wired audio. PS VR2 games, which require the headset, and games that are streamed through PlayStation Plus Premium’s cloud streaming, are not supported. - เกม
Thanks for watching and LIKING the video!
You're such a corporate shill like Yongyea
Mad Maxx I love watching ur videos you get to the point and keep it honest… but I’ve no no problem with connection issues been playing RDR2 and enjoying it hope u get the connection issue resolved
You can do all these things with your Steam Deck 💟
Amazon is selling ps portal case for $20?? And btw, I will buy one definitely
you realize your 2gb internet connection is just that, out to the internet. your in house connection (LAN) is a whole different animal. depending on how your PS5 is connected and then how good your WiFi is, the lag can vary quite a bit. ideally you want the PS5 hard wired in, then your portal device connected to a WiFi 6 5ghz connection
Your internet speed has nothing to do with it (if you're playing at home). It's all about your wifi network, it's capabilities, response time, and how much traffic you're contending with. If you lease your equipment from your ISP, you're likely to have fairly poor performance for this kind of thing.
You mentioned having 10 roommates, and that likely doesn't bode well for your experience on this device, which seems to be on full display in your video.
Folks seemingly aren’t understanding the differences between their WAN and WLAN when they are buying these things lol
Regular people buying this product shouldn’t have to be aware of any of that shit. It should not even require WiFi but connect directly to the ps5 like the vita did to the ps4.
Him talking about having connection problems dropping every 30 minutes sounds like he has a lot of other people with Wi-Fi connections living around him. I'm not talking about people connecting to his Wi-Fi I'm talking about other people with their own Wi-Fi causing signal interference. I used to have problems with my Vita and remote play with my PS4 Pro but once I went through my Wi-Fi settings and set the channels up properly I noticed a huge difference in connection quality and speed. It sucks because a lot of people like DC guy here aren't going to know to try and troubleshoot something like this.
@@mustang750r Very true. Certain appliances inside of your place can also interfere depending on the frequency and channel.
@ancientflames That's a very fair point. The route they took designing this device is a bit puzzling. It is clearly made for a very niche market. I just happen to wind up right in the middle of its target audience.
I'm kind of curious if you had disconnects outside of your house. I know you said you had a good connection at home, but I'm wondering why I haven't seen a lot of other people talk about that issue. Like if there's like an optimization or a port to open or something, idk.

Max, just a comment: You having a 2Gbps connection to the internet has nothing to do with how low your latency gets from the PS5 to your router and back to the Portal. Even if we were talking about using your actual internet connection for external usage, the biggest factor would be the latency of your connection, as long as you had a good minimal internet speed.
How do improve your latency

Exactly, why the fuck is everyone sharing their internet speeds.. it has literally nothing to do with your ISP connection. Check your actual signal strength and used band. 2.4 or 5GHZ and how crowded is it. Use a WiFI analyzer.....
Sorry dude but all your connection problems point to your router and WiFi setup. You could of course have a bad portal unit. I’ve had zero problems so far with mine and that includes using it from outside my own home network.
Exactly 👍 I have an average internet connection and mine hasn’t disconnected once.
Considering how much trouble I've had with stick drift on ps5 controllers, there's no way I'd risk getting this.
It makes no sense how they failed to think about that. They could have made the controller of their pro version, at least you could have changed the sticks later
@@StrikerTube yeah, or make the controller like a detachable component then they could sell different colours or styles, but it's crazy to think your buying a thing that everyone already knows is a nightmare for drift.
First I just don’t need this thing as I have a 48inch OLED in my room, but even if I needed it then there’s no way I’d risk £200 just for the stick to go crazy few weeks later. These people are 🤡. How did they not think of that?
@@fatemahabdi5558your just broke
Following up on this. I’ve been playing portal for 2 days now and haven’t had any disconnects. The only time I had any trouble connecting was while streaming Hulu upstairs and streaming from my cable provider downstairs WHILE using portal. It took an extra minute to connect and then was fine.
I figured out that you can watch TH-cam and even sign in, but you have to use the browser on your PS5. Unfortunately though you can't watch videos in fullscreen. It's still cool that it works at the least. Also, you can set a static ip address on the Portal. Just go to the "setup manually" option in the network settings. That will probably help a little bit.
Dealbreaker for me is that it doesnt have the ability to connect to a wifi connection where you have to agree to a ToS
You're better off getting the backbone
I know this is the point, but i just love how you bring up "I can even be outside on this beautiful day in the park!" but outside the video you're sitting at a park, playing your playstation console, while holding your phone or camera in some sorta set up. Like the whole point of being at a park, just to do what you can do at your house is such a funny visual
How’s your PlayStation five connected to the router Wi-Fi or hardwire?
I got mine today and love it. So far haven't had any disconnects, but I have only played it for a couple of hours.
@@RadecStahldisc cuck 😂
@@RadecStahl as of current there is no connecting to the cloud. It only connects to the console that you have.
@RadecStahl You're right. It's basically cloud gaming. Don't listen to that twat. The system requires constant Internet connection and connection to your PS5.
At first I was hyped for this because I originally thought that it was like the Wii U Gamepad (in that it connects via bluetooth to the console). I later found out that it's similar to a remote play device so a strong internet connection is required otherwise you'll have lag, input lag, resolution might drop, etc. In short, it's like playing games through the cloud.
You don’t need a strong connection to the internet itself, just a strong home WiFi setup between the PS5 and the Portal itself.
Xcloud does not work well at all on my internet connection. So if that's benchmark, then it's not usable.
It cannot be taken on the Go like the Switch is. You always need to be connected to the Internet if you want to play your games.
@SoraFan23 man you talking foolish. Phones have hotspot.. you can use it anywhere
@@bossedup957 Okay well if you wanna be a smartass then don't listen to what me and the other say.
What connection are you establishing between the internet and the PS Portal my dude ? :)
The streaming is happening on your local network or a local network via wireless connection.
Still latency on a wired PS5 and 5ghz wifi connection btw, 1gb download 500mb upload speed.
So most of you might know this and I don't know if this was said on purpose or by mistake. But it doesn't matter how fast your internet download speed is. Even if it's fastest in ALL of Texas. The portal uses your local network and The speed and reliability of the network inside of your home has nothing to do with download speeds. It does have everything to do with the quality of your router. the placement of your router, the type of walls in between your router and device. how many devices are on your network. what network protocols each device is using etc. It's a disservice to automatically say that the device is lacking.
All true but this highlights the glaring issues of devices like a Portal. No matter how much people spend, we’re still controlled by the physics of a wireless connection. Lots of people will be impacted by these physics, which makes it a hard sell for the masses. Niche product indeed.
Waterfield looks to be making a case/bag for this. I have their cases for several portables, and they are pretty awesome.
I would be curious to see what type of router you use for your WiFi. I have only 250mbps speeds but use a google mesh WiFi system in my house to distribute the signal with a hardwired connection to my ps5. I get no drops on either my phone or the portal. IMO this is the best device to use remote play but the whole system relies heavily on the quality and distribution of the WiFi signal.
Isn't bit too big handheld to be carried around to the park and gym and little too expensive to get cratched without proper case which would protect it while u are carrying it around in your bag?
I have 1 Gig Internet, I played with mine a few times today, multiple games. I probably played for a few hours it didn't disconnect at all. Although I did set up Port Forwarding a while back. I don't know if that helps or not. I love it. But I think the Speakers can be better. This is the base model, it can only get better from this. Maybe OLED, better connection software/hardware, more speakers and other downloadable apps that can stream.
Thank you for your honesty!!
Thanks man, You were great description for Portal.... I think will buy one.
Update your routers firmware. Disable 802.11g mode on your router.
I got mine today and at first it worked great on mw3 zombies but later on in the day it just kept losing connection and the resolution would drop on the odd occasion make me have to click the PlayStation plus button to go back into the game
How is it when playing online like team death match and Warzone? Is it playable? Is it similar to playing on a TV?
@@Micronisusit’s impossible to play team death match the lag is very noticeable. I tried and couldn’t get any kills or barely see anything
@@gclass2704What about sp games?
@@empirezz2728 If you have a phone and a controller you can try it that way. However good or bad your experience is with that. It'll be the exact same with the portal.
I'm still curious if you can use the original Pulse headset connected to your PS5, if you are sitting in the same room while playing the Portal. I would think it should work since the PS5 is running? I know you can't connect directly to the Portal if you are out of range of the PS5. Can anyone test and confirm that?
Also, if I'm hardwired to the internet on my PS5, I'm assuming the wifi on the Portal will still connect? I know it should through the router but still has me guessing. Thanks!
I’ve played mine for like 3hrs and never had it disconnect or have lag issues
I got mine today. I played up stairs away from the router. I played spiderman 2 and cyberpunk didnt have any issues. The only game had issue with was street fighter 6. So we will going forward but ao far i like it
Curious, what kind of ROUTER are you using DCG?
Last week I traveled to Argentina with a tablet and a PS4 controller and managed to continue playing Sea of Stars remotely, I had a small delay, but I just had to get used to it.
I personally don't use Netflix and stuff on anything other than my TV or a laptop, so this only being setup for gaming is okay for me. I kinda like the idea of throwing on a basketball game and still playing my PS5 games on the couch like I do with my Switch. Actually kind of interested in this, but the unstable Internet connection is a big concern for me. May wait to see if that gets resolved. No idea if that can even be fixed though.
The lack of a carrying case is also really weird, while not connecting to Bluetooth headphones is just a stupid decision by Sony. What an odd device. And yet, I'm still interested.
Sony tries to make extra money what ever way they can. That not connecting bluethooth headphones is just one more proof of that.
And not extending cloud gaming and ps plus to the phones. There wouldn't be need for this home handheld if the PS cloud gaming would over all be better and more accessible.
Im sure media use will unlock later. Im sure this thing is going to have plenty of software updates.
The audio on the portal also sucks and I think the earbuds are like 200$ which is crazy.
I'd rather buy a used G Cloud than this.
Maybe the PS6 is going to launch with a Switch like device? But it can natively run everything on PS5 and all the older consoles? More in line with what the Steam Deck is doing right now.
For that to be a reality we will be seeing $999 and $1299 models.
Managed to play mine around 3 hours without disconncting once.. i guess it might be somewhat server based? Try it again in a weeks after the next big monthly ps5 patch
I can use twitch on it perfectly plus I've had no connection issues. It runs sweet and games look awsome
I need to know can i pkay this out. Like far from my playstation. Im fine with transport i take a backpack everywhere i go. Like when i visit my dad can i use this instead of bringing my whole playstation like i typically do. Or is there some max range from the playstation. How good does your internet connection need to be for a playable experience.
I'm having even more issues now using remote play with my S22 Ultra. The experience wasn't all that bad, but the past few days have been unplayable, and today I can't even sign in. Is anyone else having a similar problem?
I'm currently having a problem connecting to my hotspot on my phone. I don't understand why this is happening
What does your internet speed have to do with your wifi connection? You need to look at your local wifi coverage and speed.
So can I use this on the go, or only at my house with the ps5
It’s crazy cause my hotspot will work for my ps5 with no problems but the portable jus keeps disconnecting. Then at my job my PlayStation will hook up to the Wi-Fi and work with no problem but the portable won’t work from the same network. It will connect to the internet but won’t be able to find my PlayStation at home.
My Portal also disconnect every 30 minutes. What can i do with my wifi network to have better experiance?
Ok, i understand the Ps Portal cannot stream videos from services like TH-cam and Paramount Plus but is it able to stream tv shows and movies from blu rays or dvds that a person might own?
Nope, purely for streaming games
If you didn't like how PS3 games were streamed from PS Now's service, I doubt that this would have been any better to be honest. Would recommend people stock up on an extra DualSense controller in any color since they're on sale right now, just picked up a Volcanic Red DualSense.
Have you hard line the ps5 and what internet do you have I hear you need good home upload and good public wi fi to play I've had no troubles with mine except I sign out and can't sign back in
I heard it cant connect to public wifi if it has the web browser pop up? Like since it has no web browser if the wifi has that pop up you can't accept it.
Haven't got one yet, but always when I remote play on laptop or phone I always as a habit I unplug the HDMI cable from my PS5 I heard that helps...
How come a Wii U tablet can stream games with little issue and others can't? Is the technology different?
The Wii U directly connected to the console. This uses wifi
@@TimDespairBear11 Why couldn't this do the same? I used to play Mario Kart on the toilette online against Mexicans on the Wii U and the gameplay was seamless. Why can't this replicate that?
@@MartyMacFrythe PS4 and vita was able to do this. It can directly connect to the PS4 without WiFi. So from a technical standpoint I’m not sure unless the PS5 isn’t capable of the same thing for whatever reason. Possibly using WiFi is cheaper?
It's the wii u all over again , it would of been awesome if you could take it with you like the switch .
You can, you just need an internet connection. You can use your phone as a hotspot. Propably uses data like a mf though
You can. As long as your PS5 is on you can play over the internet. You can even use your phone as a tether. He even shows that in the video.
Worse than the Wii U. Wii U tablet had a direct signal to the console for near seamless connection. Felt like you were playing native. This uses your Wi-Fi so input lag is much more noticeable than the Wii U. You won’t be playing twitch shooters on the portal.
@@CruxisAngel954Absolutely not😂 You're wii U couldn't be played 20 feet from your console lmao😂
This you can take anywhere in the world with good internet connection and play your games. DG even showed he played it in a park can you do that with the wii-u?
Have been playing Control and MK1 for 6 hours or so and have had 0 disconnects and zero issues so far. Sounds like an issue with his network setup, router or Portal itself
How is it when playing online like team death match and Warzone? Is it playable? Is it similar to playing on a TV?
@@Micronisusdefinitely not.
@Micronisus haven't tried any multiplayer games ( or online features ) but from general consensus the lag is too much. In my experience so far single player games work well but anything that would require twitch reflexes wouldn't be a great experience
I live in an area where all we have the option for is satellite internet. I recently got Starlink and even while in a remote area with less than most people's specs, mine hasn't disconnect once.
So it's basically a $200 door stop.
heeeyyy, that's not fair. it could *also* serve as an excellent paperweight.
Oh come on, guys, it's not that bad!
It's worse.

Idk man why is this only honest and not brutally honest ?
I will be sure to buy this when I have five kids.
WaterField is working on a case for the Portal. That one will be fancy but I'm sure some cheaper cases will pop up soon.
There’s piles of them on Amazon/eBay already
Cases have been available for 2 months now. Aswell as screen protectors and tpu cases got mine weeks ago for cheap of AliExpress quality isn’t bad for the price.
WHAT?!😦 No Bluetooth for wireless earphones? And no web browser to accept public wifi terms of service?! Like in Cafes, Coffee shops, Restaurants, Airports etc. This a Huge deal breaker for anyone traveling locally and abroad, Especially bummed not being able to access in flight wifi provided by the airline for long flights☹
Why do I have to have the disc in to play a game?
Same reason why you need the disc in your ps5 to play on your tv ,
Needs to read the disc , you’re streaming from your ps5 , therefore needs the game inside to read it properly
One thing.
Your internet speed has absolutely nothing to do with how well a device can stream within your home network environment.
You could have the fastest internet in the world but still have a poor home network setup that would impact a device like this.
Bro you are in Texas ? Nice . You and my retro life both live in Texas , as do I … God bless Texas !
Also getting disconnects fairly often. Hopefully something fixable in updates but who knows.
So crazy I hear people keep saying this. I have played multiple different games on three different network connections and I haven't had a single disconnect or lag issue at all. I hope you can get it figured out or maybe you got a bad portal? Keep us updated I would like to hear more about why some people are having this issue and there are not.
Not sure if the internet connection speed would make any difference as it is only connecting to the ps5 through the router is it not?
It can connect to both home and public Wi-Fi networks (internet). Not every home network covers the whole house, I have a dropped signal in parts of my house, yet I can still access a more stable open Wi-Fi network. How good this device is, is highly personalized because it relies on having access to a stable Wi-Fi connection.
@@whatgaca This has didly squat to do with WAN, WAN is a broad term signifying a telecomunications network. This is about the use of wireless Wi-Fi, and public Wi-Fi hotspots are definitely part of the internet, they're operated by internet providers.
Sony: "Playstation Portal can be played wherever you have access to broadband internet Wi-Fi"
@@whatgaca It can, it uses PS5's Remote Play. That's why there is some confusion about Dreamcastguy's satements where he said his home internet connection was struggling while being indoors close to his PS5. There should be no need for an internet connection if you're next to your PS5 since this device is simply using remote play over local WiFi.
You do realise that all you guys are getting upset over the most boring topic in the universe. Why do you get irate when someone doesn't have the same, geeky knowledge as yourselves?
It can be on separate Wi-Fi’s right?
Yeah, thank you for doing a honest review man like I’m having all the same issues. Some of these fanboys are saying they’re having no issues at all and honestly it’s everybody that’s having these issues not one of these devices is not having these issues I’ve even contacted PlayStation about it they know about these issues, they’re hoping to get out a update, but they don’t know when it’s going to be out but like this thing should’ve never been shipped out like this. They should’ve tested this and everything else like it works amazingly on my G cloud I might as well just play on that and throw this in the trash. You know I was really looking forward to this because I don’t really have any issues on the G cloud and I don’t get it at all dropping connection the screen tearing like certain games don’t even work on it even though they say they work on it they just will not work at all, not only that the sound keeps like popping and stuff on certain games like I’ve even had problems with the battery life I charged it the one time was playing it just testing it out and stuff and I got about seven hours out of it but I kept losing connection and then I recharged it again because I always run down the battery all the way fully charged battery then my battery only lasted like an hour and then I charged again and it lasted six hours and I’m playing the same thing. It doesn’t make any sense and if you’re downloading any games in the background, you might as well just turn it off because it really doesn’t work.
This is such a bad review..... I play on my verizon hotspot on five 5 g and play cod with ease..... What do you respect from a guy that wears a dream cast hat... Kind of out of date if you ask me😂😂😂😂
can it stream games live to twitch or youtube unlike the remote play that cant
My girlfriend bought me one for Christmas this year and I’ve used it a few times. It will turn on the console outside of the house too so you don’t have to have it on. I believe it’s geared towards going the download your games off PSN or you have to have the game you want to play in your disc drive. It’s okay for randomly wanting to play on the go or while watching a show but they should’ve made it like a PSP.
I got mine today and I've been playing on it all day and I haven't gotten any disconnect so far
Looks interesting apart from the disconnections. Wonder if the ps5 is hard wired 🤔
I got a ps portal today and have my PS5 as a wired connection to my mesh wifi and can play anything with an unnoticeable lag, at least to me.
@@CaptMeatstick yeah I have erro 6 mesh as well. One router does get 100ms latency so lots of factors go into having a stable connection. I can't stream cloud games while hard wired to that specific mesh router but can with others. I'm gona wait for it to come down in price though.
can i still play my games if im 0.8 miles away from ps5 console?
I was considering one of these, but any delay means the thing is a write off for me.
Great info
What treadmill does he use? It seems cool.
I only had this for 2 weeks I have noticed that it disconnect when you are downloading an update or a game. When NOT downloading anything for the most part I haven't had any issues. The joysticks are like Nintendo Joy Cons you can add Nintendo Joy Cons THUMB PADS. I highly recommend a glass screen and a travel case.
They should’ve made a vita 2.0
You mentioned there was already lag in the video stream so wouldn't Bluetooth introduce even more lag?
Streaming video (that is what the device does) is borderline impossible over bluetooth because bluetooth lacks the necessary bandwith, regardless of how good the connection is. You could sit right next to another bluetooth device and it still wouldn't work. Bluetooth is designed for simple low-power signals, such as financial transaction handshakes, audio, etc...it's not designed to transfer video.
@@sophieedel6324 no arguments there. I did mean tho that even if just used for audio, the latency in the sound would only add to the already existing latency in the video, no?

I found it it’s due to your router for the disconnects. Mine hasn’t dropped once. Not the router speeds, just overall router. 5ghz router causes drops. (In my case)
Didn't know this thing even existed. Tbh, I enjoyed watching your video about it, more than I ever would actually using one for myself.. lol
could be your router? What router are you using? I played it for 1 hour no issues? I use a high-bandwidth router.
Wow. 1 whole hour!?

@kylexile87 Do you go online to be sarcastic with everyone. How about input something productive.
I did buy one. Was curious about it. When I went to Gamestop to pick up my preorder it hadn't showed up yet. Was not very happy about that today.
Cancel it. It’s rubbish
You the first person to review this unit that says it disconnects every half hours others have played it for hours without any issues.
Can you use it on the go in the car away from home HELLO?
Yea i bought one cant wait to get mines i know this will be good despite all the cons it has way more pros
If it keeps dropping connection, something is overheating. It could be the PS Portal or PS5 or your router.
Playing on the treadmill is savage!!!
I enjoy mines. Sometimes I get tired sitting on my computer table. Now I can just lay on my couch or bed or even in the tub and play
do you have your ps5 plugged into the router while this is using the same router?
Don't have to be on the same network. Both need to be online though.

I did buy one. Just got in and opened the box. Hopefully they patch the software so it quits disconnecting.
im just waiting on this thing to hit the clearance sale prices at stores to buy one in about 2 to 3 months from now just like VR
The ps5 ssd is small inside. No reason why it didn't have a 500 gig and only stream the cross menu for the ps5. You can download the game. Just has the same registration as your ps5.
Sony may figure out hardware to emulate PS5. They used third party SSD to cut cost. Its only the beginning of PS5 lite or portable.
Thanks for the connection test, I was wondering if they had finally fixed the dropping connection between your ps5 and whatever’s device you use for the remote play. Have been testing the remote play from iPadPro in 3 different locations with Ps5 on the same Wi-Fi network and every session had the drop. I was hoping that it’s not the case with the portal, so thank you testing it for us

@@FinFangFoom.So you can't connect it via phone in your pocket as a hot spot? Well I checked and you can and works fine..
The big question, will you be getting a Darth Vader decal for the back of it?
Got mine this morning and put about 3 hours in trying out a handful of different games to see how they do. I’m happy with it so far.
Yeah I’m totally fine with mine. So many people are just nitpicking or are just completely sour because the Portal isn’t the device they wanted. It beats using a phone and seems to be way more stable. I really like it.
How is it with fast paced games like Warzone/COD and FIFA? Much lag or not so much?
Same no issues with mine, I am unsure what he is talking about. I think people just want this too fail and create non issues......That is a network issue.....
@@Micronisus I don’t play CoD or FIFA. But from what I’m hearing, faster paced online gaming lags a bit since it’s streaming on top of trying to run multiplayer
@@mauriceking6023 I don’t think he wants it to fail, I just think his internet connection isn’t quite as stable as he assumes and just takes that to mean that the device doesn’t operate properly.
Dream cast guy is buffed . Didn't expect that.
My Portal hasn't disconnected once, I've been using it for hours, I have over 900mbps Internet speeds. Might be an issue with your router 🇬🇧
